Donna, Harkness, and Rose for the many reasons already stated. I haven't had an intense of any the companions though, they all have their charms as far as I'm concerned. I liked Amy as a child, the scene between little Amy and Matt smith is one of my favorite.

It's also hard not love Sarah Jane Smith. It was fun to see her keep popping up through the series. I do wish that there were more characters like her, that provide a sense of continuity throughout dr.who, but are still accessible for new folks. It was a shame when her actress passed away.

and K-9 is awesome :D

I ADORE Donna. She is by far my favorite. She's a true companion/buddy. They really are just friends traveling through space and time. She helped keep the doctor grounded (Now that's a proper rocket--you have a blue box!) and Catherine Tate is pure comedic genius--yet she does the drama exceptionally well. She was his equal--despite not being a Time Lord. I can't stand the companions that crush on the Doctor. I liked Rose and Martha, but their crushes annoyed me. They missed the point of romping through the space/time continuum. Hello! It's not about getting the boy--you're freaking traveling in space and time--which part of that don't you get??!!??

Rory is adorable and I'd love to see him stick around, but if it means keeping Amy, then kill them both off. I'm willing to sacrifice him to get rid of her. Oh Amy, how I hate thee...let me count the ways... (I won't go into that here since this is a favorites thread--but I really hate her). Maybe a new companion will bring a certain depth to Matt Smith and I might actually start to warm up to him.

What's it say about me that I hate Karen Gillan and Matt Smith, yet I keep watching? It's just good writing. Actually, I think part of the reason I don't like him is that there's NEVER (okay maybe twice) any mention of previous adventures and companions...no continuity. I know that's not Matt's fault, but it prevents me from warming up to this series.

Rose, by any other name, would still be my favorite companion. :-) I love Billie Piper. (also check her out in Diaries of Call Girl on Showtime. Matt Smith makes an appearance in the first season, and yes, most of you probably already knew that ;-)

Although I agree her best moment as Rose was not with 10, but with 9, at the end of Season One where she took the heart of the Tardis into herself.

Hands down Rose will always be my favorite. She was my first and I fell in love with the show watching her and #9. I hated Donna at first but she grows on you. They've all been really great.

For my absolute favorite companion I HAVE to go old school. My favorite is the 2nd Ramonna - played by Lala Ward. I absolutely loved her. Being a Time Lord herself, she could hold her own against the Doctor as well. Old school I also really loved Adric, Tegan, Nyssa and Sarah Jane.

New season it's a toss up between Donna & Rory.

I hated Donna at first. I found her very annoying and obnoxious. But it didn't take long for her to win me over. I love her sarcasm and wittiness, and her abilty to really make the Doctor re-think things and see them in a different light.

Rory is....well....adorable. It's fun to watch him growing. He also will get in the Doctor's face when he feels he needs to. It was a great delight to watch him punch Hitler in "Let's Kill Hitler".

I am a die-hard Rose fan. I am the cliche Rose/9 and 10 shipper too. I absolutely bawled at the end of season 2, screamed through season 4, cried/felt like it was horribly wrong at the end of season 4, and I don't even want to go into how bad I was during David Tennant's last episode.

There is no one that I dislike, per se. I like River, but she is "supposed" to end up with the Doctor, and since I'm such a huge Rose fan, I'm not really liking it. I guess that 10.2 is good and all, but he's still not him. It's all very wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey, right? emoticon

I always liked Rose. I thought she was perfect for Nine and for Ten, but when Donna Noble came around... yeah. Donna Noble is by far, my favorite companion. Wilf follows behind her, because he's too adorable for words, then Rose, then Rory.

I'm not a fan of River (I doubt I ever will be) and Amy drives me bonkers. I like her well enough, she's just not one I took a liking to right away. Had she stayed a little girl, I would've loved her more I think. Ah, well, we can't have everything, right?

I love Doctor Donna... What a great culmination to her run. I would love to see some more of Doctor Donna!!

When I go biking, I repeat a mantra of the day's sensations: bright sun, blue sky, warm breeze, blue jay's call, ice melting and so on. This helps me transcend the traffic, ignore the clamorings of work, leave all the mind theaters behind and focus on nature instead. I still must abide by the rules of the road, of biking, of gravity. I agree completely about Donna. She was easily my favorite of Ten's companions. Their chemistry together was very refreshing.

I wasn't a fan of Donna at first, but it wasn't long before she won me over. I love Rose to pieces, but I found Donna's sarcasm and sense of humor refreshing. Also, it was nice to watch a companion that wasn't head over heels for Doctor.

I'm with you - it's sooo hard to choose! There are so many good ones. While I certainly enjoy some more than others, thus far there haven't been any I truly *disliked*. Which is awesome :)

I like them all and find it hard to name a favorite companion but I will give it a go. I loved Rose, especially her storyline with the Doctor. She was sweet and mischievous, very girl next door. She kind of tears your heart out. I loved Donna because she was a no nonsense kind of girl but she had a heart of gold as well. She wasn't afraid to argue with the Doctor. I really like Amy. She is so funny, vivacious, and very much her own woman. Oh and lets not forget that ever so charming and absolutely gorgeous Captain Jack Harkness. Geez that was hard enough. I also really like Rory and find him very funny.

Donna, definitely. She is more of an actual friend to the Doctor than the previous companions, and she isn't afraid to tell him off once in a while either. I think he needs that on occasion (hence why I think Amy is doing well as a companion). I'm in the US, so Donna was the first depiction of Catherine that I had been exposed to. I think that each of the companions brings something to the Doctor that he needs right then, whether it's wit, sass, loyalty, etc.

I think right now that Amy's my favorite. I never thought anyone would supplant Rose, but Amy's so darn cute and spunky and strong that I flat out adore her. I don't get the "too sexy" thing since I haven't seen her wear or do anything I couldn't see any other 21-year-old in the world doing. So silly the way the media spins things!

Rose is brilliant, and I adore her... but I adored her with Nine. Once it was Ten, I'll be honest, I didn't feel the chemistry. Yes, I know, everyone else in the world did. I didn't. I was still mourning for Nine. So there! Martha was a great char who suffered terribly by being made into a lovesick puppy too often when she was a smart, capable woman in her own right. I would've liked to see her get to be more her own person, less a little girl crushing on Ten. Donna was great! Strong, feisty, funny, and a really good foil for Ten. I liked him most when he was around her.

My question is who is your favourite companion. Here in the UK there was some prejudice towards Catherine Tate (Donna), as she was a sketch comedienne with her own show, but I found her brilliant especially in the dramatic scenes. I think Billie Piper (Rose) caught some flack (previously being a teen pop sensation) but I think her critics were silenced after the first episode (I know I was! lol) And the lovely Freema Aygeman (Martha) got stick because well... she wasn't Rose! And Karen Gillan (Amy) well she's just too damn sexy according to her critics! So please have your say, though I've mentioned the latest (who I thought were all brilliant, in there own way!) you are most welcome to go old school, gotta love The Brigadier and Sarah Jane, or you can even go short term, I LOVE Mickey Smith! So while I think and get back to you later, I look forward to reading yours. X Mel
