When I go biking, I repeat a mantra of the day's sensations: bright sun, blue sky, warm breeze, blue jay's call, ice melting and so on. This helps me transcend the traffic, ignore the clamorings of work, leave all the mind theaters behind and focus on nature instead. I still must abide by the rules of the road, of biking, of gravity. But I am mentally far away from civilization. The world is breaking someone else's heart. ~Diane Ackerman

Hows it going Cheeky? I've been doing great with calories and pretty good with exercise, but still not superb on the water. I lose track so easily! I am terrible at keeping a good count on how many glasses. Anyone have tips?

Great work by the way :) I'm glad you're on board. It will help keep ME motivated (since it was my idea to start this back up after all LOL)

Then you get to split the difference right? Some drinks on Thursday, some on Friday. What's the problem? lol

I think I'm not even going to place because of my water intake!! Even when I think I do reach my water goals, I'm not sure because I forget to track it! I've been within my calories every day except Thursday night when I went out drinking with the gals... Though technically some of those drinks happened early Friday morning... hmmm.

I'm reaching my fitness goals and my water goals. However, sometimes I have to drink most of my water after work (then I'm up all night using the restroom). lol I've also been within calorie range everyday except yesterday (didn't eat my magic oatmeal after work, and then had the major munchies when I got home...grrrrrr).

Oh, fortunately yesterday was payday, so I can get groceries now and stock up on veggies. Wasn't hitting the fruits and veggie goals the last few days while waiting for payday. Gaaaa!

How's everyone doing? So far so good for me on nutrition. But I really need to amp up the exercise to place in the fitness hours! Also, I SUCK at water intake...

Ok so I should be able to tally fitness minutes from the leaderboards, but I will need everyone to self-report, on their honor of course, their weekly calorie/water achievements. Just how many days out of 7 you drank your 8 glasses and stayed in your calorie range.

Hmmmm...I've never participated in a team challenge, but with the way things have been going lately, I think I could use the motivation. And where better to get my toes wet than with the New Who team. Besides, if I mess up, I can use my TARDIS and go back and fix it. emoticon

What stats do you need in order to tally?

Thanks!

Nothing fancy - just motivational posts to remind folks what's going on and then a little tallying. That's the whole shebang :D We're not fancy here.

Hmm. I think I could manage it. Although I'm not sure what's involved... Is it just tallying up whoever posts here? Or is there some metrics I need to access? Also little motivational posts to keep everyone on target? Cuz if that's all, I'm sure I could swing it.

Anyone up for running it? With all day at work and then running to visit Pike in the NICU in the evenings, I know I may not keep up with keeping things moving very well right now - but I think it's a great idea to start this up again!

So I got Two Bronze medals in my Olympic events. I hope everyone else that attempted their own Olympics did well!!!!!

At another point I think another friendly competition will be in order. One by which you set goals and see if you can keep it! I shall think of one, and if anyone has another competition type motivation thought. let me know and I shall see if I'm game for it as well :).

I'm so proud of you guys! It's true, too. Being busy all day and being more active leads to even MORE activity which we all need. I find myself out of my chair more often instead of sitting for entire desks! It's a great feeling! :)

@Beth You can do it!! Great job with the nutritional goal! Reach for that medal and grab it!!! You're almost there. The fitness minutes are-a-coming I know it! Every little activity is forward movement! When I go to the gym now on sundays, my GF and I actually walk the mile there and the mile back to warmup. It's easy and you can track it using the MAP! SO awesome! Keep it up and you'll reach those goals!!

I'm 7 out of 10 on my calorie tracking... my fitness minutes are a mess, however, so I'm way below there. lol But that doesn't mean I'm not trying. Just been a bit of a nutty week time wise. That has led to being active, which is a definite plus. And I'll take active even if it doesn't involve actual exercise over sitting on my butt :)

Woohoo!!

I'm 7 out of 9 days for nutrition (an excusable and planned break on Valentine's Day), and am actually better than my planned fitness schedule, and I've lost 2 lbs! Yay!! Today is a much needed rest day. Then back in the action tomorrow!

UPDATE for Friday (yes i know done on Saturday)

I am now 7 for 8 days for my nutritional goals. Doing well with that. I am fluctuating a little in my cholesterol levels due to some cheese and egg consumption but other than that I'm doing very well.

My exercise has taken a slight hit in my progress towards 17 hours. I am at 360 minutes which is roughly 6 hours. (total this year 1080)

Hope all are doing well if they are doing the challenge!!! and hope people were able to see some Americans win their Gold Medals!!! GO Sean White! emoticon

Update through Wednesday Morning.

I am now 4 for 5 days for Nutritional goals. Even with eating the Pad Thai leftovers for lunch.

I increased my fitness minutes to 310!! (for a reference to myself my total minutes this year is 1030) It is becoming hard to track my fitness minutes cause my Olympic minutes didn't start at 0 in my total tracked minutes lol.

I'm doing good and am keeping on track with everything. But man oh man it's gonna be a little hard to continually do it when I have long days in the office. Gonna try tho! Hope everyone else is keeping up with their Olympic Goals!!!

So I've been terrible about responding here, but I actually haven't been doing badly. I'm 3 out of 4 on my nutrition (you'll have to trust me since I tracked as I went but wasn't at the computer. lol), though I'm way behind on my exercise. So I'm going to be pumping it up to catch up on that part! Should be easier now that I've got an exercise bike at home :D

My update for today is 20 minutes of hard cardio and sadly I was under my calories by a couple hundred. I do plan on redoing my nutritional goals today but just hadn't had time today. I need to lower my calories to accommodate my changes fitness from a week ago. lol. But I will still not count today in the trek for the Gold!

Team, I propose a Team Olympics. I created a personal Olympics that was Sparked by another SP member. She created a way to personally challenge yourself in relation to the 2010 Olympics. I propose we do a Team Challenge.

I challenge everyone to Go For The Gold. Here are the specs.

Fitness - Walking, Biking at the gym, Elliptical, Strength Training -

Gold Metal - 17 Hours total
Silver Metal - 14 - 17 Hours total
Bronze Metal - 10 - 14 Hours total

Nutrition - Staying within Calories and Water intake -

Gold Metal - 6 to 7 days a week staying on track with calories and water intake
Silver Metal - 5 days a week
Bronze Metal - 4 days or less a week

The timeframe will be from Feb 12 and go through Feb 28!

Let's see how many Gold Medals we can win as a team! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
