These pages have gone pretty quiet. My council (Girl Scouts of Wester Washington) did a flash mob on March 12th at our largest mall. . They sang "Make New Friends", "On My Honor", and did the Girl Scout Promise and Pledge. About 700 girls and adult volunteers showed up. Unfortunately I had to miss it.. Boo hoo. .
All the local Service Units also worked with our local city councils to get Proclamations. My troop and a 4th grade Junior troop did flag, recieved the proclamation, talked about our troops and the local community service we do or have done over the years and got the Girl Scout week declared offical by our city. The girls got to meet the Mayor - it was very cool!
Lastly - all of our summer Day/Twilight Camps are running Green challenges mixed with the regular program.
My troop personally was able to go to GA last summer (in June 2011) and we did the tours, the 100th anniversary patch program, and the Tybee Marine Center. It was amazing! My girls were fascinated by the history of it all!
My troop is 10 very dedicated to scouting 9th graders. All but one is coming back next year (she is a cheerleader and swimmer so it is getting too hard to do scouting activities. She is my last "non-leader's daughter" daisy so needless to say I am very sad she is leaving us. She's been with me for 10 years!
Go Team Golden Phoenix!
