Hey Ezz. If you're talking to me, those were warnings on the Neurontin, I guess I just figured that it wasn't very likely. Grrrrr. Go figure. Thanks for your help. I just love to be the exception........hahaha

Medications have side effects for different people. Before starting a medication you can look up the drug on Web Rx....Tylenol PM is tylenol and benedryl causes me to have carb cravings...go figure. You can report your side effect to the drug manufacturer...they need to have this information.

Just a note about Neurontin (gabapentin). I took it and it did help me. However, that was soon followed by a slow, insidious black veil of depression and suicidal thoughts that washed over me gradually. I told the doc and I started an anti-depressant, but even so, my mood was very dark. I was able to go off the Neurontin & the anti-depressant and my mood lifted almost immediately.
I DO think it's a valuable drug and I am sure it helps a lot of people. I only mention this because it happened to me and it was so slow that I didn't realize it at first.
Gosh, I don't mean to be such a downer. ** I have weird reactions to a lot of meds, I'm sure most people would not react the same **
Sorry, didn't mean to ramble........ Kelly

I have nerve pain in my right leg. It is like fire from my hip to the arch of my foot. sometimes it stops around my knee area. I learned very quickly that this is a very different kind of pain. Narcotics and anti-inflammatory medications do not work. I am now taking 200 mg of Neurontin at bedtime, and will soon start 100 mg in the AM too. I have to say it is helping. Thank goodness. Because all I can do is pray otherwise!!

Nucynta is a great new pain medication that works as good for most people as Hydrocodone, or Oxycodone. It causes less nausea as well, which is wonderful for those that are so sensitive to Pain medication. I have not taken the Nucynta, but I have noticed that the Orthopedic Surgeons are ordering it more and more often with in the past year and a half.

I had foot surgery last year for bunions...OUCH! The doctor gave me Nucynta and it is less addicting, not so constipating and let's you rest...My daughter had the same surgery and she said the Nucynta was better than Percocet...Tramadol is a nice non addictive pain medication that can be taken with Aleeve (if you can tolerate Aleeve) Some people mis understand what Aleeve is for...it is most importantly an NSAID...non steroidal anti inflammatory...you can take two tabs twice a day...that's off label, so to speak, but my doctor is aware and it helps tremendously...I also protect my stomach with Protonex....the tramadol is strictly for pain. Together they work well....As far as Cannibas goes....to each there own, but I would try other methods before smoking anything...You have lungs to protect too...and THC, the active ingredient, comes in pill form...

I agree with the Tramadol 50 mg. One to two tablets every 6 hours, can really make a big difference. I know from personal experience, as well as giving it to pt.'s shortly after orthopedic surgery. It is so much better than narcotics that slow down your whole system. Slows your thinking, your digestion and for some people causes addiction. Tramadol is non-habit forming.

There is a pill for pain that has the main ingredient of marijuana in it so I don't understand the need to smoke it unless its for glaucoma...I think it works in a different way for that. I personally would not smoke anything as smoking of any kind is bad for your lungs....and think of the munchies it creates....maybe not for Montel, but I know people who say you get cravings to eat big time...No thanks...I have enough of my own cravings to deal with....

I don't have pain, thank goodness and my thoughts go out to those who do.
That was the main question from most of my friends, are you going to get medical marijuana? you know it's legal now and you can get the card. My friend michael had a good point in me not having to smoke it, but still to be "stoned" all day doesn't seem to appeal to my appetite.
I know it works for some people and I am happy for them. But, we shall see how time goes on. Montel should have had a prescription with him. I agree that he can pay the fine but it makes you realize just how hard it will be to travel with it. If Montel gets caught and fined, who's to say that something worse doesn't happen to modern folk.

Tramadol is a drug sent from heaven and if you take it with tylenol it helps even more...but remember only 4 Grams of tylenol a day...

I'm thankful every day that I don't suffer from that type of pain. I have friends on Tramadol and it just scratches the surface of easing the pain. I'm glad you've found a way to work with it.
And I wish you more pain-free days!

Marijuana is a tricky thing right now. It's still illegal, overall, but some states are leaning towards making it legal for medical purposes. I don't understand why he didn't carry the "medicine" with supporting papers from his doctor, etc. AND why didn't he ask what the rules are when traveling with marijuana? I would have! Like Ezz said, because he is famous maybe he thought he didn't have to prepare to travel with marijuana!
I have the start of what they call neuropathic pain - nerve pain due to atrophy from the MS - and it is very, very severe when it comes. I took oxycodone 6 times and hated it and it didn't take care of the pain. Now I am taking Tramadol and if I catch it just right and take 100 mg., the pain doesn't come. It took me 10 months of trial and error to learn this. Ice doesn't work nor does OTC medicines.
How many of you now have that type of pain due to the MS? What helps you?
I hadn't heard about this. The TSA seem to have very little rhyme or reason with what they do. I think they're out of control, IMHO.
Montel is in extreme pain with his MS. He tried to commit suicide once before. With that kind of pain, the guy needs a break. We all do! On the other hand, he's got plenty of $$ to pay the fine with. But I hope someone uses this as an example to cover medical MJ. I don't use it, but I have friends who are prescribed this and they take it in candy bars. They taste awful, so they say, but they work. Perhaps Montel will switch his travel supply!

The talk show host and decorated U.S. Navy officer was ticketed for possession of drug paraphernalia after airport officials found a marijuana pipe in his belongings. Though Williams, who has multiple sclerosis, explained he was using it for medicinal purposes, Transportation Security Agency officials fined him $484.
I don't see what's the big deal using marijuana for medical purposes, I would certainly like the chance to be able to use it if I need to. On the other hand, it's dumb to be carrying paraphernalia in an airport!
