Thank you Angel! I've done some more digging and found that the alkaline diet is very similar to Dr. Hay and Sheldon's food combining diets, the one that suggest to eat only carbs or only proteins with veggies at one meal. Not sure, how scientific it is. Thanks for useful advise, I've started experimenting with stir-fries, and it tastes great. I still hate to chop the veggies though :)

Hi Sasha, welcome! I have not heard of this particular diet, but I will check out the website. For starters, I would make a list of the foods from the lists that I like or will try, and then group them together as possible meals. The fresh fruits could be part of breakfast, and also for a healthy dessert for lunch or supper, or a healthy mid-day snack. In general, I would try to build a meal with a starch, protein, and one or two vegetables. You probably don't need any complicated recipes. I do a lot of stir-frys, with a tiny bit of olive oil, a bit of water, and fresh vegetables. Stir in a skillet over medium heat. When they are almost done, add some diced cooked meat. Serve over whole grain pasta or brown rice. Salads can include quite a variety of foods, too, as well as starches. Try to be creative in combining colors, textures, and flavors.

Hi everyone!
I am new to this forum, so I better introduce myself. My name is Sasha. I am 40 years old with two small children (5 and 1,5 years old) and full time job. I've been on Spark sites for years but still overweight and unable to do much, partly because I am a lousy cook. I don't know much about cooking and don't like to do it. Recently my sister-in-law was diagnosed with cancer, and i started researching diets for her and came across this alkaline/low acid diet recommendations. It says that in order to fight/prevent cancer we should eat daily:
- a variety of 6 vegetables (4 raw, 2 cooked) = 60% alkaline;
- 2 Fruits (must be ripe or tree ripened) = 20% Alkaline;
- 1 Good starch (as listed below) = 10% Acidic
- 1 Good protein (as listed below) = 10% Acidic
The site than lists all foods (http://www.breastcancersupport.org/Low_Acid_Diet.php)
I am struggling now to integrate it into the SparkPeople menu planner to come up with meaningful menu plan for her and myself. It's hard cause I don't know much about cooking and never made my own recipes.
Does anyone here knows anything about it? Could you point me to a good site or anything helpful?
I much appreciate any help on this topic.

Thanks and health to you all.
