Yup, I believe the results.
Today, I did resistance with a band (in my motel room) and used my roller on my tight muscles.
Tomorrow, HIIT using the recumbent bike in the fitness room. Then, most of the day in the car...
Back to my water exercise soon. I miss it.

I found this posted by ALDANA on HIIT 101 thread...

It looks like it could be helpful. I'm a Virgo, what can I say.

I'm not up on all the HIIT terms, so what is TABATA? I guess I should Google it, right. LOL

By the way do we have a Leader on this Team?

Hugs,
Charlie

I've been doing HIIT for about 3 years now. First with running and biking and now I've graduated to TABATA, which is crazy effective!!! The only problem is that I have not been as consistent as I should so I haven't noticed a direct impact on my endurance...But it helps burn those calories!!!

I attempted 4 min of Tabata training on the elliptical trainer today and thought I was going to throw up. It was hard!
I find that HIIT training is the way to go for me; my body is efficient at karate ( no sparring), so I need to keep surprising my body. Tomorrow, something different!

I use a heart rate monitor also. Just be sure to do the resting heart rate test with it or manually enter your max hr to be sure it accurately estimates calories burned.

There is also the "afterburn" effect from HIIT when it is done properly.. it takes more calories to replenish your glycogen stores and repair your muscles when compared to regular cardio... but as far as how many "afterburn" calories you burn, no one seems to have concrete numbers yet.. some experts say it can raise metabolism for up to 48 hours (but how much? who knows).

Thank you both for your advice. Congratulations PETALIA for being Med Free!

I do have a watch HRM and I used it but, I cleared it before I thought to look at calories burned. Actually, I never have used it for that. I will tomorrow! I really think I'm going to like the HIIT. I'm looking forward to improving.

How long have y'all been doing HIIT with your perspective exercises? What improvements have y'all had?

Hugs,
Charlie

I agree, a heart rate monitor would inform you as to how many calories you are burning during the exercise itself. HIIT professes to burn further calories throughout the day. As far as I know, this cannot be calculated. For me, interval training and HIIT has done wonders for speeding up my metabolism which, as far as I know, is not trackable. I use the cardio machines at the gym. They give me a-round-about idea of calories burned. I simply take that for tracking purposing. How I feel, the improvement in my body composition, etc...are most important for me. Nonetheless, a heart rate monitor is the way to go for tracking heart rate and calories burned.

I rarely use SP trackers for my calorie counts. If you can, invest in a heart rate monitor. That way you can more accurately judge just how much you burn every workout.

I'm new to the Team & HIIT and I would like to know how do I know (or calculate) how many calories I burn each time I do the HIIT on my Stationary Bike.

I did it the first time yesterday Apr. 10, 2012. A total of 12 minutes:
Stationary Bicycling: moderate 10 minutes, SP tracker showed I burned 86 calories.
Stationary Bicycling: vigorous 2 minutes, SP tracker showed I burned 26 calories.

That doesn't seem like enough to me!

Hugs,
Charlie
