TLTaylor - I am with you! I cannot blame the daylight as I am in Texas. I added a little bit of running 2-3 times a week, just 2 miles. But in order to get my workouts in and get to work on time I am up between 4:30 and 5:00 every day. In order to get 8 hours sleep I would have to go to bed at 8:30! No way is that happening! It is usually 10:30 or sometimes later. I AM TIRED! I am on week 10 and soooo ready to be done. I am only down 2 lbs, hence the added running. Hope this helps.

I tried doing Classic and got frustrated with not losing any weight, so I slacked off for a while. After reading through this it sounds like that is a common thing, so it's good to know I'm not alone. I started again this morning. I am doing Lean this time because I really want to work my core more than anything else, and looking at the schedule for Lean I think that is the best way for me to go. I really want to stick to it this time and make it through the full 90 days!

I'm about to move up to 12-15lb weights too! Even a couple of months ago when I was working w/ a personal trainer, I didn't think I'd be able to go over 10lbs but the arm exercises are getting too easy now. So up I go!

So I was doing great with P90X before I went on vacation and I have been back for a month and just can't get back into it :( I need to fix this issue and I need help.. I live in Alaska where we have 24 hours daylight so I admit I have been staying up late and the mornings come quick and this is the only time I have to do my p90x.. so I am having a hard time dragging myself out of bed at 5:15 to workout when I go to bed at 11:30 everynight.. HELP..

Only Day #5 for me; I'm off work for the summer so now I have a lot of extra time so I'm doing my own version of Classic Doubles. Got in a good 60 min of cardio at the gym - and Legs/Back/ARX tonight - yikes! :)

I actually did the Shakelogy 3 day cleanse, and it wonderful, I had so much energy, and didn't feel hungry at all. My goal was to give my body a nice cleanse because this is my recovery week 4,so it was a pretty light week. And I wanted to just have loads of energy, and get rid of the bloating and stuff. Today is my last day of my fast. So of course I have to slowly but surely introduce my body to foods. I am going to make my homemade veggie chicken soup and eat off that for a few days along with a salad for tomorrow.

I also ordered insanity because I need more cardio in my workout.So I will start that probably next week. Have any of you guys done both programs insanity and P90x the same time, if so how do you do it. I know it is probably posted here somewhere but I am short of time. Thanks I would appreciate anyone suggestions. Have a beautiful day!!!

Today is legs and back ... not my favorite. Maybe b/c it left me so sore last week I could barely move. Hopefully this week will be better.

I was having the same problem with calories. SP is telling me to eat between 1200-1550 but I found I am seeing better results if I aim for 1800. Plus I feel better all round.

omg yall are making me feel like a wealking lol. I'm on my first week of p90x lean, and started out with 3 lbs since that's all I had (I was doing the Jillian Michaels dvds before this and they always use 3's) but barely felt anything, so I bought some 5 lbs and am going to work it up from there. Hearing that you guys are using 12-15 lbs is really going to make me push it! And I already upped my calories and noticed a huge difference, I was aiming for the 1200-1500 range but felt so drained and my fiance told me I needed to eat more. So now I'm doing 1500-1800 and I feel so much better! Hopefully I'll get some of the results you guys are getting!!

I'm on Week 7 of P90X Doubles and I've noticed a change in inches but not really in weight. My weight has been pretty stable for some time so I don't really expect a weight loss. As for Shoulders & Arms, I use 10-15 lb weights depending on the exercises. Seems like everyone gets the most results from the last phase. Hope it's the same for me when I get there.

I need to get another 12lb weight (I have one).

I use 15s for stronger muscles and 8s for weaker ones but sometimes 15 is too heavy and 8 is too light which is why I need another 12. :)

Question: What is the average size weight you use for Shoulders & Arms? I did the video for the first time last night and I felt like I didn't get that great of a workout. I was mainly using 5lbs. Towards the end, I was using 8 and felt like I was working out. So I was just wondering what the average you guys use?

Yes U probably need to eat more! When I was eating 1300 calories I was so tired and didnt want to finish the hour. Now I am eating min 1800 and feel great!!

Make sure you're eating enough. On days when my calories are lower, I run out of steam quickly. On days when I eat more (closer to 1800) I feel great. 1550 is my minimum and sometimes I have trouble consuming that much. Days when I eat 1400-1500 I can barely keep my eyes open.

I'm on week two. I'm about to die of exhaustion. did anyone else go through this?? I'm so tired. I've slept nine hours almost every night since I started P90x. I could hardly get through legs and back yesterday and I did like two moves from Ab RipperX. Today is Kenpo and I'm not sure how I'm going to bring it.. I'm going to try adding a carbohydrate.

Yes it's a good pain. Push through this first week. The second week will be much less painful.....it won't be pain FREE but it'll be just enough to let you know you got a good workout yet free enough to let you go about your daily activities (including peeing) without bracing yourself. haha

Hello Everyone!!

I just started P90X (Lean) yesterday. Boy do my thighs hurt. I was drinking water (a lot of it) and every time I had to go to bathroom I would literally brace myself. But it is good pain, right?

I skipped CardioX and went to Zumba class instead. Tomorrow abs and arms. BRING IT!!

I'm not sure if you're doing classic or lean but I noticed that on my recovery weeks I tended to lose more weight than other weeks..not sure why but you mahy see the scale move over the next week! I'm halfway through week 3 now (today is day 3) so I looked at the last 2 weeks to see what I burned.....3500 calories each week!! WOW!!!

I entered that into Spark and they adjusted my calorie intake to 1550-1900. I had been trying to consume about 1500 a day with the occasional 1700 calorie day so I'm doing pretty good.

I have formulas in an excel sheet. I enter my calories burned each day and it tells me how many to eat in order to lose 1, 1.5, or 2lbs in the week. Spark has these formulas in articles and I found them on other nutritional sites as well. And according to those calculations, 1500-1700 seems to be a good range for me if I want to lose 1-2lbs a week.

I adjusted the grams of Carbs, Protein, and Fat since I use different ratios than Spark. I use 30% carbs, 40% protein, 30% fat. I struggle to keep those ratios ---- my natural eating habits are to consume more carbs. But I strive for those ratios and as long as my overall calories are in line I consider the day a success.

My official measurement day is a week and a half away but I'm seeing a difference in clothes so I took a few measurements. No loss in my arms but they are more muscular so I'm happy with that. Lost 2 inches in my waist and 1.5 inches on my hips!!! In 2.5 weeks!! WOOHOO!!! Scale hasn't budged but I don't care ---- I lost INCHES and that's what shows in clothes.

well i was following the spark nutrition guide, which was 1200-1500 for me. then i read that i shd be eating more so i got up to the 1700-1800 calorie mark, which made me nervous. i still didn't lose any weight, but i didn't gain weight either. then i realized on the spark nutrition guide i needed to update my work out goals, and i started paying attention to how many calories i burn and updated how many calories i expect to burn each week. now the spark nutrition guide gives me a range of 1480 - 1830. i think using the spark nutrition guide is fine, but you need to update how many calories you expect to burn in a week! and by the way i started reading about this a lot.. and how if you don't eat enough your body goes into starvation mode. when i ate less.. i was NEVER hungry.. and i read that if you are not hungry that is a BAD sign. when i started adding in more calories i finally started to feel hungry

If you read through the whole Nutrition Guide, it says this is a ballpark and you may have to adjust up or down. You can definitely modify for what you feel is the best fit for you.

I average about 1500 calories a day to stay completely satisfied. P90X recommended 2000 for me and I just think that's too many for my small stature.

On days where I'm mindful to consume a lot of protein (about 40%), I require fewer calories but on days where I eat more carbs, I eat more calories. Overall, the average is about 1500 with close to 40% protein.

I upped my calorie intake recently and I have noticed that I'm more hungry now. But I'm also starting to lose weight a little quicker. That could be because I'm in the second phase of the P90X workouts as well. I wake up just starving now and I never used to be that way!

So I decided to try adding more calories. I am now getting about 1500 to 1700. I decided to add calories gradually. Here is the thing though. When I was eating 1200 to 1500 I was never hungry. Now that I added calories I am non stop hungry. By the time I am able to take my lunch break at work I am STARVING. I will eat and then within an hour I am so hungry again. Doesn't it seem weird that I am hungrier now that I added calories than before? Has anyone else experienced this?

Congrats to those of you losing inches and pounds!!

I gained 3 pounds my first 30 days and several inches. I was very discouraged but I didn't give up.

My hubby and I started out with the Lean program in phase 1 but switched to Classic for phase 2. In phase 2 I lost 2 of the 3 pounds I'd put on the first month. I still haven't lost many inches maybe 1 total but I can see my body changing and I am getting stronger.

I could see a big difference in the 60 day pictures. A huge ego boost considering the scale isn't moving. I have a thyroid problem which is contributing to the slow weight loss.


We started phase 3 today. I'm hanging in there and hoping for more results during this phase.

well ladies, i suggest putting the scale away. i am in the middle of my 6th week and i haven't lost any weight, but today i measured myself and so far i have lost 4 inches on my hips, 3.5 inches on my stomach, and 3 inches off of each of my thighs. i also took before and after pics, and there are definitely results... and i haven't lost any weight at all according to the scale, but apparently i am losing my fat and replacing it with lots of muscle.

I'm on week 4, day 5 and I've lost 7 lbs.
On week two I was up .2 lbs and I nearly gave up right there!
I reminded my self that I was COMMITED to 90 days, and I can definately see that the program is working.
I can't wait for my 30 day pic and measurements on Tuesday!

I haven't lost any weight at all since starting (monday will start week three in phase 1 for me) actually I've gained a little wieght, but I have noticed, and it excites me to no end, I have muscles in my arms and my calves. They were never there before and I find myself sitting on the couch just flexing my arm :)

My little arm muscles are my motivators, and though I still look for those pounds lost, nothing could excite me more at this point than finding muscles I never had before

I have definitely struggled with this as well. My beach body coach is the one who told me to up my calories. She suggested 1300-1500 a day. It is hard for me to get 1100 most days. Hard to choose healthy foods that are on the P90X nutrition plan and get enough calories. I do not feel hungry though. I find that I am snacking on fruits and veggies during the day, so I am not feeling deprived at all. The scale tells me I am doing the right thing. It is scary to add more calories, when it seems that is what I am in control of, if I add more, won't I gain? Not so, I encourage you to try for 2 weeks to up your calories and see where it takes you.

Hello all!!

I have legs and back today, I start recovery week next week of the classics and cant wait to start Phase II. I have surgery next tuesday to get wisdom teeth removed but I hope I can bounce back into the swing of things by the 19th.

Im reassured by reading this forum because I havent budged on the scale either, and lost maybe an inch around my thighs thats it! I dont know if Im eating too little or not, (SP Default 1200-1500) I have changed the intake for fats proteins and carbs. Less carbs, more fats, and a hellava lot more protein. Which is what I was told my other P90'ers to do. Another problem I see a lot of the diet plan. I dont know how to realistically cut out processed carbs (read, corn, potatoes) without being hungry all day because I like a sandwich for lunch or whatnot.

I was consuming about 1000-1100 calories and hit a major plateau. And with what I burn daily verses what I was consuming SP nutrition told me I was not consuming enough. So I increased (which scared the hell out of me) to 1400 minimum and I have lost 7lbs in 2.5 weeks since starting the P90x. So I would say slowly increase and see how it goes. cause if you arent consuming enough then your body will start storing verses burn.

So since I have started my p90x I have been losing 1/2 lb each week.. this week (easter week) which I ate more..I lost 1.5 lbs.. so I think I am going to up my calories again this week and see how we do :)

btw, i don't know if anyone else is struggling with this too, but i feel that i am not getting much results in my abs.. which is a huge trouble area for me. anyways, i started doing hip hop abs after my p90x workouts (omg.. those videos are so embarrassing even when i do them by myself) i am not sure if it is helping since i just started, but shaun t did help me realize that i think i am doing ab ripper x wrong. tony doesn't really talk about breathing correctly as much and tightening your abs. on hip hop abs shaun t shows you how to properly contract your ab muscles, and yesterday i tried to really contract my ab muscles while doing ab ripper x and i felt like i got a MUCH better work out. hopefully i will start seeing better results in my stomach

Heard the same thing Jadazoe. But I too am too scared to increase my calories. I am finishing up my second week in phase 2, hope phase 3 brings all home. Glad I am not the only person struggling with this.

i agree the whole thing is so frustrating. i have been looking it up though, and it seems like most women start losing weight in phase 3? hopefully that is the case. i have also been reading that a lot of women aren't getting ENOUGH calories. i know for me i have been trying for the 1200-1500 range. i read somewhere that we should be getting at least 1800 since we are working out so much, and if we eat only 1200-1500 our body goes into starvation mode and that could be why we aren't losing weight. has anyone tried adding more calories? i was thinking about doing it.. but i am too afraid! lol. i really don't want to gain weight! but i am super curious to see if any women out there have seen better results by eating more

I thought this would be the best place to post this since it seems we are all in similar boats or have had similar experiences.

I am feeling very frustrated! First off I am beyond happy with my fitness, I love P90X. I feel great, better than I have in a long time. I have energy, stamina, strength. I am proud of my commitment and accomplishments. That all said I am still a fatty! I work hard, count calories (1500 or below), cut out all white and processed foods along with wheat and white potatoes, eat plenty of veggies and lean protein. I am doing everything right and yet I am GAINING weight.

I know I should concentrate on how good I feel, and that I am building muscle and stop worrying about a damn scale. But, its hard and frustrating.

I know this is a LONG post but I really wanted to get that out of my system. Don't worry I will keep pressing play, everyday!

I am on week 5 and I have only lost 1/2 lb each week since staring p90x.. which is a little frustrating because I am in a biggest loser challenge at work and before p90x I was losing 1.5lb to 2lbs .. but I know it is muscle and I will be better off in the long run.. but I also love being strong and having muscle definition.. so no complaints here.. LOVE IT

I guess I will have to just put my scale away for a while.

It's hard when you're working hard and not seeing it move, but like my friend told me the other day, muscle weighs more than fat.

I am having the same issues with the emoticon , I am up 3lbs give or take since monday!! I dont get it!! I know I have not consumed the amount of calories that it takes to make 3lbs! SO I am just going to have to hide the damn thing!! cause it frustrates me to no end!! I know I am doing something right cause I have lost inches in 2 weeks!!

I am on my third week and no scale change, actually today said I had gained a couple pounds but I know that I cannot trust the scale because it has been fluctuating so much! So trying to avoid the scale and wait till the end to weigh myself. Sure I will before I finish my 90 days, but try to not put too much stock in it.

ok so i am new to this, can't figure out how to just send a post without replying to someone so sorry. i am so glad i found this group. i am starting my 6th week into the program tomorrow and i haven't seen much results at all. i can see more muscle in my arms, but that is about it.. and the scale is not moving AT ALL. i have been very dedicated to it, doing it every day, eating healthy, and still no pounds lost. it makes me feel better knowing that other women are having trouble with this too. the only people i know who have done this program were men, and they have all lost weight. 10 lbs in the first month! so i have been really beating myself up for not losing weight. still determined to finish though, mainly because, even though the guys have lost more weight.. they all quit after the first month, so i have to at least finish it to prove it can be done! haha

this message board has made me feel better! I have been feeling great about my body and how my clothes are fitting but that stupid scale!! ugh, knowing that others are having the slow movement as well makes me motivated to keep going! :) I've definitely lost inches but only 3 pounds in Phase 1 (so far because I am in the recovery week now) I am also training for a half marathon (which is next Sunday) so maybe my body is also in shock from all the added exercise this month. However I feel good and this is the first time I've been happy about my body in a long time! Thanks everyone! and I love P90x

I am starting the recovery week of phase 1. I have gained 4 pounds since I started P90X! I'm not following the meal plan but am doing the Eat to Live thing. However, I can see the difference in my body when I look in the mirror and in how my clothes fit. Yeah! I'll take my measurements next week to see how many inches I've lost. I'm trying not to worry too much about the scales until phase 3. I'm going to add extra cardio next week and see how things go.

I am on phase one week 3, BUT each week is taking me about 10 days. I am a single mother of a 2 year old and it is really hard to get an hour in everyday, so I have been averaging 10 days to complete a week. I also am TERRIBLE at eating right, I am not following the nutrition plan because I every time I try to follow something like that after a few days I give up and binge for a few days because I seriously love food, lol. So, I have been trying to make healthier choices, and figure I will get better as it goes. I am not sure how many calories I have been getting, because again if I track them, i obsess over them and eventually sit down with a pack of oreos and eat half of it at once.

Anyway, I have gained 1 lb, but I have lost a couple inches. I have also not been doing ab ripper x because by the time I finish my first workout, either Lily wakes up or I am too wore out to keep going, so I have done some of it a couple times but never finished it. I am going to start adding extra cardio whenever I can. I am not doing great at the program, but I am doing great for me because I have always hatted to exercise, and would find every excuse not to do it, but now I am sticking with this, and it feels good!!

I am avoiding the scale till at least day thirty, would be nice if I could wait till the end. But for sure going to do my pictures. I feel better already and now in the past I have to wait till weeks 9-12 to see the results I want. So just taking it a day at a time.

I am starting week 11 tomorrow. For the first 2 months I only lost 5 pounds and my inches really weren't going down either. So frustrating. But...this last week it seems to have really kicked in. My pants aren't tight and I am noticing a big difference in my stomach. I am now down 8 pounds and feeling very motivated. I really feel the difference in my muscles as well - so don't despair. It's coming!

Yeah i feel you on that one - i'm almost done with phase 3 of lean and i'm really now just starting to see a bigger difference... i think all the muscle i put on in the first 2 phases is starting to eat away at all my fat!

I'm going to go back and do 90 days of classic. I think for a woman my size that it took a little while to get my momentum going. Even though i havent lost all of the weight i wanted to these 90 days, i feel ready to tackle another set of challenges.

I've only lost about 15 pounds in 11.5 weeks with p90x lean (i say only because i see other people losing so much more), but most of it came off in the last 4 weeks for me. So keep pushing, you're definitely going to see better results in the last phase!! At least, that's how it's been for me :]

Yeah that is true Rooroo54, but I just kinda figured since I am heavier than some women that do P90X that I would see a greater move on the scale and with the inches. I really wanted to be like 20lbs lighter by now and I am in my recovery week of phase 2 so after this week, I will start phase 3 so I hope everything starts coming together.

yeah i'm seeing the same kind of results - losing way more in inches than i do in pounds. and it'll fluctuate.. for a couple weeks i wont lose anything in pounds, and then for about 4 weeks straight i lost 2 pounds a week.. and then another couple weeks with no change in pounds. i always see a change in inches though... ha which is nice when the scale isn't moving!

Kinda hard to believe that you are getting smaller when you only lose half of a pound and then you lose a whole inch off your stomach and a half inch off your hips. The scale needs to start moving again because this seems insane! So I have lost 7inches all over the most coming from my stomach of 3inches but since I have started until now I have only lost about a pound.

I am now on my rest day of the second week of Phase One. I have probably gone up about a pound or so, but I'm trying not to pay too much attention to the scale right now. I am down 2 and half inches around my waist, and am comfortable wearing my "skinny" jeans today. I've read a lot of comments here about our bodies going into "shock" with the new exercise routine, and that can certainly happen. One thing the muscles do in that case is retain water, and we as women know what THAT can do to our bodies! I'm banking on that evening out over the 90 days, and have seen too many good things happening to my body, energy level, strength, and flexibility to question it just because of my scale. (What has that THING ever done for me, anyway???!!!)
