Researchers at the University of Manchester in England found that women who added 1/4 cup of tomato paste into their healthy daily diet for 12 weeks were less sensitive to ultraviolet light than those who didnít eat any tomato paste.
Another surprising revelation is that the lycopene, which is credited with the sun protection powers, is most abundant in processed tomatoes, not raw. While raw tomatoes are certainly still good for you, to receive the ultraviolet light protection, you need to consume them in the form of tomato paste, ketchup and marinara sauce. Remember, this only augments your sun protection; you should still use sunscreen for extended exposure.
