I believe it has to do with the saponin coating.
If you'll google quinoa and saponin, you will get a good explanation of why quinoa has to be rinsed very well before cooking.
I hope it helps.

I have been seeing where Quinoa needs to be rinsed--(I have never done) ..... Is it gummy?

The second sentence of the instructions ( directions) reads:
while pasta is hot, STIR IN SOUR CREAM. Set aside.

I hope it helps.

LOOKING FOR HELP PLEASE/THANKS!

I am not able to locate this post today, however, somewhere in this team's recipes yesterday I found the following recipe (copied/pasted exactly how it read) ..... IT'S FOR MAC & CHEESE .... and I have a ? please if someone can assist. ..................

IN THE INGREDIENTS IT READS "1/2 cup fat-free sour cream" HOWEVER IN THE DIRECTIONS, NOWHERE DOES IT SPEAK ABOUT WHEN TO ADD THIS TO THE MEAL??? ......

I made this today, made a special trip to the store to buy my one missing ingredient, sour cream, then when I was following the directions, I forgot all about it being required as it wasn't mentioned, so I wonder what supper will taste like tonight !! EEKS ! I hope it's not a waste of food.

Recipe Makeover
Macaroni and Cheese
Points+ value: 6
Yields about 1 cup per serving.

Ingredients:

12 oz. whole wheat elbow macaroni

1/2 cup fat-free sour cream
12 oz. fat-free evaporated milk
8 oz. low-fat cheddar or colby cheese
1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
1/4 tsp. table salt (or less, or omit)
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
2 Tbsp. dried bread crumbs
2 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 F degrees

Cook pasta according to package directions without added fat or salt" transfer to a large bowl: While pasta is hot, stir in sour cream: set aside.

Heat milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until tiny bubbles appear just around the edges (known as scalding).
Reduce heat to low, add cheese and simmer until cheese melts, stirring constantly with a wire whisk, about 2 minutes: remove from heat and stir in mustard, salt, pepper and nutmeg.

Add cheese mixture to pasta: mix well. Transfer to a 4- quart casserole dish.

Combine bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese: sprinkle over pasta.

Bake until top is golden, about 30 minutes.

Enjoy!

Welcome to our team. I hope you'll enjoy our healthy recipes, motivation, knowledge and so much more.

Usually when I want to move a recipe to another location, or a message that is not needed anymore, I move it and instead of leaving it blank, I type "moved"
I allways want to have the topic " How to find our team's healthy recipes" on the top, so you can see it quickly.

Best wishes
Mimi

*** I just "moved" our topic to the top and erased the one below, adding"moved" (to the top)
I wish I could delite the "moved" posts, but it doesn't let me do it.

Here are couple of ideas...

1. Our recipes are organized in 40 food categories.
Please click in our recipe home page on "General Team Discussion Forum" and scroll down to the category called "Bountifull beans and grains".
You'll find many whole-grain recipes there.

2. Please click in our home page on "Team Challenges Forum" and scroll down on page one and two... We're doing now a project of introducing all 19 whole-grains (now on # 6 -Farro). You'll find there many, many whole-grains recipes.

3. Please click in our home page on "How to find our team's healthy recipes?", found on the top of our page under the "General Team Discussion Forum".
You'll understand better how our team is organized and it will lead you also to our healthy food categories, our Web sites recipes and so much more......

I hope it helps
Good luck

Mimi
