Hey SLIM4LIFE09- just wondering if you've made it to the cities and the state fair yet? What did you do while you were here and how did it go? I realize there's still a week left of the fair and maybe you haven't gone yet, but every time I visit this team, I think of you!

You'll have a great time and the Zoo and Fair! As far as the fair goes... definitely pack some of your own food if you want to stay on track. There are some healthier options, but they are few and far between. I remember some sort of food market (outside of the Bazaar) where you can get some fresh fruit/etc. Personally, I know what I like (Blue Moon Diner's Sweet Corn Ice Cream), so I indulge in that; and maybe a cob of corn or something else fresh. Local papers usually do a few articles or blogs before or during the fair with "best new foods/etc" so you might want to check those out and pick something great that suits you and then pack the rest of your food. Also, if you try something and don't like it, just throw it away or give it to someone you're with. Just because you paid $10 for that deep-fried whatever doesn't mean you need to eat it, especially if it tastes like garbage (which a lot of them do).

p.s. Thanks for those links, Max! That Art Park looks cool!

Ditto on Ring Mountain in Eagan as a place to eat.

In the days when I ate anything and everything the Australian Potatoes were a must at the State Fair. They're sliced potatoes, deep fried and topped with cheese or ranch dressing. It's a huge plate and excellent to share.

Eagan has a waterpark, but if you're looking for something free, Kelley Park in the neighboring community (Apple Valley- about 10-15 minutes away depending where you're staying in Eagan) has a splash pad that is excellent for a toddler. It's a collection of water fountains and right next to it is a large playground with a rubber ground. It's very nice.

We're going this year (yay, only a few weeks left until our vacay!) and bringing our 18-month son. Looking for tips and "must dos" for those with little ones (ie: best ride, best area to bring them, etc) and also foods I HAVE to try and healthy foods to help me stay a little on-track. I know I'll be doing a ton of walking and want to try at least one deliciously evil food, but don't want to get home and be 10 lbs heavier.

Also, as a visitor to your beautiful city(cities)- any restaurants you love that we should try? Again, have a toddler in tow. We're staying at a hotel in Eagan, close to MOA. Oh and we're going to the zoo too for one day. Any food ideas and toddler activity ideas would be much appreciated!
