Anybody know how to change the ticker at the bottom of posts from kgs to lbs? I recorded my starting weight at 158lbs and they show 158kgs.

Thanks!

I am pleased to announce that the number on the scale is beginning to change again. As you know, I couldn't exercise due to back problem and the scale wasn't showing any difference. Finally, I checked my food intake and realized that I wasn't getting enough nutritious fat so I started eating more flax and nuts. Whether that was the cause or not, I have seen a change of weight finally. Early Christmas present maybe? Twelve pounds until my initial goal. I can hardly wait! emoticon emoticon emoticon

My foot is already so much better so no worries about the sprain interrupting my workouts. Yippee!!!

Also had an allergy test this morning and nothing showed up other than grass. So nothing to worry about until summertime & that's one I can live with.

Jae, i actually just got back from a kayak, it was beautiful, but a wee bit choppy. I should have gone earlier when it was less windy...but nice just the same.

Hi everyone,

I went kayaking last nite in beautiful St. Margaret's Bay, this was my first time and I had so much fun. This is definitely a pasttime I could get into. And such a great workout as well.

Have a great long weekend everyone, will probably see you all on Tuesday!

Where are you located Dee_Barlow?

Hi All - I am also new to this team and also to SparkPeople. I joined a while back but was not active. My goal is to be accountable. Is there any way to find out if there is someone in my local area?

Perhaps meeting up will keep me focused. I do ok with online for a bit then let it slide.

Hey all,

I'm new to this team. I was in poking around the different topics and messages and noticed that some areas are pretty old and haven't had activity for a while.
Just wanted to let the team know that I posted a new challenge in the challenge forum. I realized the threads there were very old so people may not be checking them often.
I'm always up for a challenge and find it's great for my motivation. If anyone is interested in walking across the east coast provinces (metaphorically speaking of course) please take a look at the April 2009 challenge.
Hope to see you there.
Michelle.

Hi Betty Ann.
No I haven't gotten through everything yet. Every time I log on I seem to find something new.
The part I find confusing is that I get into a part of the sparkspeople things and then when I want to go back to it, I can't find it.
Oh well, I just keep on using it and slowly it is starting to make sense. lol.
We will get there!!!! emoticon

Just a note to let everyone know that I have changed my user name to joannegal.
When I first got on this site and didn't know what was going on, I typed in the name of my son's dog lucy and and to put in lllucy to get it to work, but now want it to be my own name, hence the change.
So now I am Joanne all the way. emoticon

Oh that's ok Wanda.. I think when we can't find answers right away we tend to get a little frustrated at times.lol I think eventually we figure things out. Now if I could just get my weight to start going down in the right direction I'd have it made..lol

Hi Ladies,

It looks like you're figuring this place out all on your own. The best way to learn it is to poke around and ask questions.

I don't know if there is a chat feature here. I haven't found one but I haven't been looking for one either. I don't have time to stay on the computer very long. Just logging my food and posting replies on the message boards takes a long time.

Sorry I was so long getting back to you but I was out of town until last night.

Ahhh ok thanks for the info and I totally understand what you mean by it taking alot of time but there is so much info on here and I have started tracking my food for the most part.. it can be frustrating at times cause alot of food is based in the States for the meal suggestions but I just substitute items for others.. and get closest as I can to what it is. Message me anytime, its fun trying to figure all this out..lol Where are you from Lucy?

I honestly don't know if there is a chat room. I haven't found one as yet. It seems to be mostly posting back and forth, but I really don't know.
I haven't been on this for very long. I am sure someone will answer this question for you.
This is really an amazing site, but I can't keep up with all the different things we can do.
I haven't yet got into tracking my meal. I try to get my exercise logged in.
If I sit down and start doing everything, I am on the computer too long and don't get things done.
Time goes so fast.

It took me a while to figure out how I did it. There is so much on this sparkspeople , that it is hard to take it all in.
Go to your Sparks page and down on the right hand side there is a place for your personal signature.
Write in there and it will show up.
I think that is how, give it a try. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hey Wanda,
After you write your message on the message board there is a little blurb .. a quote.. highlighted.. how do you get that on your message.. or a list of goals attached to your message?

Hey Joanne, I know it can be a little overwhelming at first but you'll get the hang of it in no time.

If you look just above this posting you'll see

FORUM: General team Discussion Forum

Click on that and it will bring you to a list of all the topics in this forum. The first one in the list is "Daily Check-In" (this one is the second one in the list). Click on Daily Check-in and you're there. If you have trouble, let me know.

Don't worry it just takes time!

Where do all the East Coasters chat with each other.
Just wondering, as I am just getting into all the different things I can do on Sparks People.

hi all, just wanted to stop in and say hello from PEI.

{{{hugs}}}} to Sandi , so sorry for your loss of family members.

I'm back at Spark after being away for a yr or so. Started doing Simply For Life a few weeks back and lost 16 lbs so I'm back on the road of weight loss again.

Good luck to everyone ! Nice to see a spot for east coasters :)

That's just terrible Sandi. I can't imagine losing one so close, let alone two, in such a short time. My condolences to you and your family. I know we don't know each other but if you ever want to talk I'm only an email away. Sometimes talking to someone you don't know helps.

I'm interested in giving the videos a try too. I don't expect that I'll be wearing a bikini or anything but I like the idea of a challenge to motivate me!

I signed into the BootCamp too but just out of interest in trying the new videos. I know that there are legal issues, but you know, the message it gave me by saying that it was too much legal work, is that we Canadians are not worth the effort!!
Ok - off my soapbox now. lol!

It ticks me off actually! They admitted that there's too much legal stuff involved in making the contest available to everyone and they'd rather use the money to improve the site. Oh well!

I might be interested. I will check it out. I am a liitle ticked that Canadians are not eligible for the contest. That happens way too often!

Sounds like fun, Wanda! I don't think I could commit though. I will be back to work on a regular basis soon, and won't have the time, with Max's needs, and all. Something like that would work out great for me in the winter months though. (Have to keep it in mind!)
You go for it girl! You can do it! I'll be rooting for you!

Hi everyone! I just joined a team that I think might be very interesting. It's called Beach Body Bootcamp. They have a contest too but Canadians aren't eligible emoticon It gives a new workout video everyday and you have to do 30 mins of cardio for 5 days ( I think). It starts on May 4 and I think I'm gonna give it a try. Anyone else interested?

Hi Allison and Wanda. Great for you in cycling those pounds away. I use my stationary cycle. I like to be on it while watching the news or a favorite program on tv.

I agree Wanda, I'm glad I bought mine. I listen to music while I'm pedaling, and pedal with the rhythm of the music. It keeps me going!

Hey Allison, I love my bike too. I use it everyday, not because I have to but because I want to. I really enjoy it, especially if I have some good music to listen to. It makes a big difference to have exercise that you enjoy that isn't painful or boring! Enjoy!

Hi, I just bought a recumbent bike about 10 days ago and I love it. I'm using it everyday, and I feel it gives me a great workout. It has preset programs too, some of which are weightloss, so I've been using those.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let everyone know that I've been doing a little tidying and have changed some things around. The "Introduce Yourself Here" topic was in the General Discussion Forum. I've removed the Sticky from that and hopefully it will drop out after a while. I've started a new "Introduce Yourself Here" TOPIC in the "Introduce Yourself" FORUM. Hopefully this makes sense to everyone. I have also made the "Daily Check-in" the 1st Sticky Topic because it's important and we want to encourage some discussion here!(Thanks Glenda for the suggestion!)

If anyone has any thoughts on how we can improve things around here let me know.

I have to say that I an really enjoying it. I have a treadmill but when we moved here I was afraid that it makes too much noise for my downstairs neighbor. This new bike hardly makes a sound. I don't even have to turn up the TV!LOL

Happy April 1st everyone!
I too have a recumbent bike Wanda. I have had mine for over a year now, and I would be lost without it. It is a lot easier on the butt and back than an upright one, I find.
Enjoy!

Hi everyone! I've been absent for about a week now. My family went away for a couple of days and we came back to computer troubles(the virus kind!) We now have new software but it really slows down my computer. Anyway I'm trying to read and answer 108 e-mail that have piled up.

On the bright side, I have a brand new exercise bike that I love! I got a great deal on a recumbent bike and my DH and I are trying to share. emoticon

Keep up the great work everyone!

I've heard that too but I figure that some calorie burn is better than what I've been getting lately(practically none!)

I would love to get a recumbent bike. Main reason being, I've heard they are easier to read while using, so I think it would get a lot more use. I think I read somewhere that you don't get the same calorie burn as an upright bike though.

Hey everyone! I have a question for anyone who can help. I am looking at buying an exercise bike. I had one in college(an upright one) and I wore it out. Now I'm looking at a Recumbent bike as my DH has back problems. Has anyone tried one? Or does anyone have any thoughts on it?
