Since this heat wave started, I have done no exercise except a few stretches first thing in the morning. I am perspiring really profusly, and at least I am drinking all my water with no problem!

Way to go on the weight loss Michelle! Make sure to let us know how it goes tomorrow.

Labeille, your "run" sounds like a great idea. I really dislike walking outside when it's cold (what a baby!) so I walk in the school gym when I can. I walk for 10 minutes and run for one. I hope to increase the run and decrease the walking but I too find it painful.
As for the challenge, I'm up for anything. Start the thread and I'll join in. I'm sure others will too.

Well, my weight stayed up (the 3 lb) 2 days in a row, but today I was down 2 lb again. It's taking more effort to do what I should each day. On the other hand, last night I went for a "run", ie intervals: run 2 telephone poles & walk the next 6. So proud of myself! I'd never done that before sparks (running is hard on my knees & shins) but my exercise of choice is a computer game and DD was on it late finishing an essay. Tonight it's freezing rain, so I'm not going out!
I've seen talk about a challenge of the month but nothing solid. Can we start a thread where we post the exercise we do each day? I could certainly use the accountability, since I'm just starting up again I need all the strokes I can get.

I already am most of time except when I first get up. But for not being great tracking this week, I stepped on scale this morning and I was at 189.5! Tomorrow's my official weigh in day so I'll wait til then to change things on here.

I haven't been posting much the last couple of days because my computer is in the shop and I'm using my DH's laptop - it's painfully slow!

Feel better Michelle!

It's great that you came back. We all screw up (or put ourselves after everything else), as long as we keep coming back we'll get there eventually. I've been here for almost a year and I haven't lost very much but I keep coming back because I know that I can do this. You can too! Keep at it!

I am disgusted. This past week I have really got started again--using the Nutrition Tracker (and keeping within 50 cal of the upper limit too which is in goal for me), and hauling out the DDR and exercise mat and actually doing something every day. I'd been surprised & pleased that I maintained weight over the holidays (ate more, but also ski'd my buns off on a family vacation. Not to mention all that shovelling...)
So, now that I'm really working at it, this morning my weight is UP 3 lb. What's going on here?
It's not TOM.
I'd like to think that my body is hoarding water since I've started to drink it again and am exercsing again, bu I think I'm deluding myself. Any words of encouragement?

Thanks, guys! I really blew it last night because I was sick. :( No workout AND overeating... ugh. But I'm keeping track again today and I went for a short walk. I'm still sick, so I don't think I'll get to do my regular workout.

I went a bit overboard yesterday since we were eating out with friends. I decided to just enjoy myself - I don't go for super bad foods anyway, just too much of the good foods. But today I planned ahead for my breakfast out so I wouldn't overdue it. I'm back on track!

OOPS!!! I didn't do all that bad but my last snack tonite put me over my daily calories and fat! To make matters worse, I'm still hungry. But I'm not going to give in, I'm going to drink more water and still have to do my strength training tonite.

I think the reason why we don't stop is the taste of the fatty foods is somehting that at least makes us feel, whatever teh feeling may be is irrelevant.

I have to start back hard core today. I have gained weight and I know how easy it is for it to all come back...I bet you it would only take 2 months to gain back all the weight I have lost if I went back to my old eating habits.

It must be the change in the weather or something. Hot chocolate & cinnamon rolls sound great right about now. The other night I was feeling down because of the rain and not getting out for my walk 3 days in a row. I rewarded my depression with a huge bag of chips and all the time I'm eating them I'm becoming more & more depressed. But do I stop? Of course not! What is wrong with me that I can fall back into the old habits so fast. I feel like I'm never going to turn the corner to a healthy life style but I will continue to try. That's all we can really do at times like these, take it one step at a time. emoticon

mmmm... hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls sound good right now. I wonder how far I would have to walk to burn those off. Maybe if I walked from here to Tim Hortons and back that would count for what I ate when I got there??? Probably not. I guess I will just drink some more water instead! emoticon

Maybe it is this time of year. I know that I always feel like stocking up for winter (as if I don't have enough padding on already) by eating as much warm gooey comfort food as I can and then curling up on the couch with a warm blanket. I don't know what it is. I am trying to reframe my thinking though. Put on a sweater and go for a nice long walk in the woods and look at the beautiful leaves. That is my goal for the weekend. I will let you know if it works.

I have to say that I have been on the down turn a lot and the only thing I can tell you is that it doesn't matter how long it takes to reach your goal, as long as you keep trying, you will get there! Try to forget about it, it's in the past and there is nothing you can do about it now. Today is a new day and tomorrow is going to be easier than today and the day after that easier than tomorrow.

YOU CAN DO THIS!

The last 3 weeks have been so bad for me I don't even know how to begin again. The food has been crazy, i haven't been doing a lot of exercise because I hurt my foot and I am trying to be motivated but it seems like the only thing I can do is eat. How do you get back on the horse after a down turn? Help!

I weighed in tonight and gained. My scale said that I had gained 0.5lb but at my meeting I actually gained 2lbs. I was shocked and disappointed but really it's my own fault. I haven't been treating myself well lately. When you treat your body badly it shows on the scale. Back to the drawing board. I have to make some changes in the way things are going!

Thanks everyone for the supportive words! I am screwing up but at least I'm aware of it and not doing as bad as I would have done. I'm having a great time with my sister and her kids and my favorite cousins will be here in a couple of days with their kids as well. It should be a big party! I'm going to enjoy my holidays and deal with the rest later - the same advice I gave Merab when she went on holidays!

Today has been a bad day. I haven't even entered anything into the calorie tracker as I'm sure I'll be over my limit in every way. I've had headache and stomachache for a week tomorrow and its getting me down. Unfortunately for me, when my stomach is upset, I eat. I just hope whatever this is goes away soon. I can't even exercise much as it jars my head too much though I did get some walking in today.

Conranw - we all have our weaknesses and I think eating at Mom's is a problem for everyone. You have already provent hat you can come abck fromt his. You did it before and you can do it again! It doesn't matter if it takes an extra day, an extra week or an extra month to reach your goal as long as you are still trying!

Well I'm back at my parents place and back to bad eating! I don't know why I can't control myself when I'm here. I guess that's why I was always overweight when I was growing up. I have to figure out a way to eat better and get my water!

Merab, you might find that the "vacation weight" drops off very quickly. That's what happened with me. I was up about 4 pounds as well but they were gone by the end of my first week at home. If you thought you were doing well then you probably were. Don't worry about it too much, just get back to your routine and you might be pleasantly surprised.

Merab,
It's good to see you back! Don't worry about the gain, I'm sure when you get back to your routines it will be gone in no time. I'm glad to see that your husband is joining. My husband has been a great motivator for me since he joined. We're always discussing things that we have learned or read about. I hope it helps you too!

I'm not going to be at my goal either. While I was away I thought I was doing really well daily although I did treat myself several times. I weighed in yesterday and I gained 4.5 lbs...gulp. I guess what really makes me disappointed in myself si that this was the weight I was the beginning of June so the past 2 months have been for nothing. On the good side, I think that this break will cause me to lose quicker for the next week or so and I convinced my husband to join so I think it might be a little easier now.

I'm finding summertime very challenging both for cardio and cooking. I'm walking almost every night and getting out on my bike once in a while, but most days are just too hot to contemplate other cardio workouts. And I'm just not motivated for cooking! We're still doing our best but finding it difficult.

I'm hoping August might be better. But I don't think I"m going to be at the goal I wanted by September!

I weighed in today and as I expected I gained 2 pounds. I tried to control portions at Mom's but it's really hard when someone else is cooking. The weather was really bad as well and I didn't get as much exercise as I would have liked. Oh well, there's always next week!

I popped two sour cream Timbits into my mouth before checking the calories. They are 90 calories each!!! I could cry at the thought of what I could have eaten for 180 calories. I won't make that mistake again.

For the record, if I had eaten 2 chocolate Timbits instead it would have only been 100 calories (50 each)!

Thanks Dale. I was away this weekend it PEI and it couldn't have come at a worse time. I have gained more weight but I am going to try really hard for the next 2 weeks to get back down. then I go to NL for 10 days so I am sure I will gain there too. I will just keep puttering along. It would be nice if it were 2 steps forward one step back as opposed to 2 steps backward one step forward.

Been sick with the flu and of course not eating...don't think tylenol has many calories. Whatever weight I might have lost over the past week, will certainly come back once my appetite is back I'm sure.

I need help, I am desperate. Last night our football team had a tailgate party/BBQ at the men's game and I brought all the right foods and ate them. BUT then I also had 36 jujubes (about 600 cals), 4 hotdogs (800 cals) and because my day turned out to be so sh#tty a blizzard from DQ with extra cookie dough (as if one scoop of cookie dough wasn't enough). This is the second time this week I have done this to myself and I am starting to get a little desperate. I am sabotaging all my hard work! I gained 3 lbs this week. The only good thing I can say is that I am still here. I am so cloase...why is this happening now?!

Well the results are in and I gained 2lbs. I knew it was going to be bad. I hadn't exercised all week, I ate very poorly and I didn't track my food. I know that's what makes all the difference for me. I've known from the time that I joined SP that I need to be accountable to someone other than myself. I have a week to get back on track before I go on holiday to NB. My sister is thin and eats whatever she wants. There will be junk food every night while we play cards. I have made a commitment to myself to walk everyday and limit the junk food (and alcohol!). We'll see how it goes!

Hey everyone, I'm back from my weekend in St. John's and we had a great time. My daughter got a ribbon for 7th place in the 200m race. I'm so proud (she doesn't come from a family of runners!) I'm not so proud of the way I ate this week end. I ate like the kids did McDonalds, chips, hot dogs. And not recording what I was eating really made a difference. There is no way that I can go back and record everything that I ate. I just have to start over. Tomorrow's a new day.

Oh yeah, I have to take it easy on my walking for a few days. I got such a bad sunburn on the back of my knees, it hurts to walk. We made sure the kids were wearing sunscreen but I forgot to put it on myself! And who would have thought there would actually be sun in St. John's. LOL

I was wrong...it could get worse. I went over my calories that day as well. Now I am back and eating well and healthy and hopefully no more incidents that bad. And if by chance I do, I can work throught that as well.

What I can say for myself is that I tracked everyhting I ate that weekend and did not give up ont hat end even though I already knew I was over and I did exercise everyday!

Well, once again I screwed up and this time...royally. I am away in Halifax so I can't get to a computer to enter my foods and I just underestimated and when I got to my friends house and plugged it all in I was at 3600 cals...WOW. I start fresh today though. Lord knows it can't get any worse

I screwed up yesterday. i have been owrking for the past few weeks to deadlines and yesterday was the last chance I had to get a project done beofre I go aways. I was totally stresses and just overwhelmed with it all. I decided to get a walk at lunch time just to unwind. thought I waould pick up a sald at the local gorcery store on my way and come back to work to eat it. wll...I also passed the piozza Delight and thought, "I deserve it, what the heck" oh my goodness, what is wrong with me???!!! a caesar salad was ok, healthy choice and all, but the six inch pizza was over the top. 1000 calories later I am back at work and feeling very guilty and just mad at myself. well, I did work harder and got the project done in time. Walked last night, but not a 1000 calories worth. I was over my limit by about 400 calories for the day.

Boy, have I been there (well not the frosting partbut the others for sure)We have all been there and we have all done it and I know that even though you are still in your calories for the day you still feel terrible. I could have posted that message, so i will tell you what everyone tells me. You had a setback, it's all right, just try not to do it again. Sometimes our body just craves these things and are mind doesn't have any say over it. Then the craving gets placed right in front of you and there is absolutely nothing you can do. Just do better today and tomorrow and for the rest of the week. Do extra exercise sometimes this week and the guilt will lessen and you will feel great again.

Please rember these words so that the next time I post in this thread you can spew it back to me.

Well I did it today! I was baking for a bakesale that my daughter is having tomorrow and well I just couldn't resist. I ate a 2X2 inch brownie, a shortbread cookie and 1/4 of a container of Betty Crocker Creamy Deluxe French Vanilla frosting! My stomach hurt afterwards. I don't know what came over me. It started with "one cookie won't hurt" and ended with "I can't believe I ate all that. I only had a salad for dinner so I still only had a little over 1300 calories but the guilt is enough to keep me from doing it again for a while. Well, at least for a few days!

I agree as long as I don't do it everyday and quite honestly I don't trust myself at all. I ended up with a little over 1800 calories so not that bad all in all.

oooh...Merab, double whammy...eating cake and you didn't even really enjoy it...that is bad...( one should at least be able to enjoy the vices now and then,ha.) on the up side though, it's only a little cake and it won't destroy all the other great things you do to help yourself. A few extra calories isn't going to ruin what you've already accomplished.

I just had a huge peice of pound cake with icing. the sad thing is I took it a small piece at a time (4 actually) to add up to one big piece. I wish I hadn't of but it's too late now. I don't even think that it will affect my day that badly but I like to post about the stupid things I do. That way it validates them and makes me think twice about doing it again. I didn't even like the cake if you want to know honestly.

Each 2.5" and 2.5" square has 350 calories. They taste so good though...my mother always told me (probably from her weight watchers days) that nothing tastes as good as thin feels but I think those hello dollies come close!

Well, I got intot eh hello dollies again. I brought them out for company and ended up having several myself. I have to stop doing this. All I am doing to destroying my hard work that I do for the rest of the week. And for 3 minutes of great taste I throw away all my hard work. Oh well, back to the drawing board tomorrow!

I am pretty sure that without sour cream, the quesadilla with chicken is about 600 calories from a resturant. I have no idea about the sour cream b/c I don't like it and never eat it.

that's hard Cheryl, no treats for 6 weeks? we are only human , we need treats or we'll bust!! small treats, in moderation and we survive the "lean" days. don't be hard on yourself, one meal won't put you over the top.

I just figured that was full of fat, all the cheese and sour cream!! It just makes it hard to figure out my cals for the day. But, it was only one meal. Today I'll be back on track. When I started this 6 week program I didn't allow myself any days for treats or messing up.

Just keep trying. I am also an all or nothing person. If I know I have gone over my calories I used to just go for the gusto and sometimes I still do. Just take it one day at a time and these tough spots should lessen.

BTW, nice to have you here!

There is an email thing that always sticks with me about the women on the Titanic who didn't have dessert because they were trying to lose weight. Not that I don't think it is good to cut back and lose weight but I try hard to balance it. If we have a birthday here, I relax a little and go over. I know the next day I'll be more careful.

Today my daughter had a dramafest thing and I chaperoned. I ate some things I shouldn't have and I knew it. Oh well. I don't even know if I'll be able to do my nutrition log as I'm just too tired. BUT, I ate things and enjoyed them. I didn't stuff my face mindlessly. And I did exercise. So I don't feel bad.

I want to lose weight, but I also keep in mind that I only get one life and I want to enjoy it. Hang in there Merab. You are doing fine.

Thanks Cheryl for the suport. I think that is why I am doing well on this site. I always have people constantly reminding me that it's not a total loss until I give up completely. So here I am at the end of a 2100 calorie day. I probably could have been at 1800 but it's once a year and I had already made a few errors total ( I am an all or nothing kind of girl). Tomorrow I know I will be back on track thanks to our group and sparkpeople. Talk to you tomorrow!

Merab, don't be too hard on yourself. Sometimes things come up that make it hard to stay on track. Its only one day and you'll get back on track tomorrow!

Well, I screwed up again...and I was doing so well, too. I was over my calories a little yesteryda b/c I was at a seminar with a catered lunch. The seminar is 2 days so today I decided to bring my lunch, a very tasty and low cal chickpea and spinache soup. Today, however, did they not only cater lunch but they alos brought in sweets. I had decided I would have a borwnie since they were small and I had been doing well, but after ti was eaten someone told me to try the hello dollies which I had never had before. Stupid me I did and I devoured one of them as well. So I am not over my calories yet as I am at 1150 but I have a benefit dinner to go to tonight and I am fooling myself if I say thta I will stay within my calories tonight. I will try to have food in moderation and I probably will have yet another sweet since this event is only once a year and if I denied myself I would probably end up eating twice as much dessert. Oh well, as I posted on another board, tomorrow is another day....

We all have that problem Theresa. Just keep trying and working on your willpower. Once you say no once it is so much easier to day no a second time. also it is easier to have someone like my husband who will eat the other half of my dessert if I decide that I have enough. I know realize that if I leave something on my plate even if I no longer want it I pick at it just for somehting to do. A very BAD habit.
Just take it one step at a time and remember thta we are here for you!

Alcohol will do me in. One drink tastes like another and another and you can pack a lot of calories in. I really restricted my alcohol now until I get to my goal weight.

I haven't screwed up royally, but I seem to screw up in a minor way and it accumulates.

I did so well yesterday...lots of veggies, lots of protein, under my calories....and the boys brought me home a treat. Half a piece of chocolate torte. Sigh. I'm not saying no to a piece of chocolate cake. I was satisfied after half of it, but then I just kept eating.

And today my daughter left a chocolate chip cookie on the table when she left for school. I'm sure by accident but after my satisfying breakfast wrap of turkey bacon, tomato and lettuce that cookie was demanding attention. It's gone now. oops....

I'd sure lose a lot faster if the sweets would stop jumping in front of me.

Theresa

It is a new week and my other weekends haven't been bad. I thought that I could control a little bit better and quite honestly I thought I was doing well until I entered it all in...UGH!

I over did it as well on Friday! Went to play cards and had munchies. This woman always makes such good snacks too, they're hard to resist!!!!

Oh well, the rest of the weekend wasn't too bad.

well...it's true we learn from these things. I know I over did it on the weekend as well. We had drinks with friends on both Friday and Saturday night...rum has way too many calories in it...
You'll make it up though, walk a few extra blocks or do some jumping jacks. I walked mine off today, hiked 5 km.. then came home and ate barbequed ribs...oh my...it is so hard sometimes. On a good note, I had lots of spinach salad and managed to get at least 2 servings of fruit today.

Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint.

I had over 4000 calories on Saturday. It was mexican night with friends (we only do it once every 2 months, thank God). The sad thing is that I thought that I was doing well (not within my budget but better than 4000 cals). If I had of forgotten the daiquiris (I estimate I had 9) and the corn chips (I think I ate half a large bag) and the guacamole that I had to have with them, I would have only been at 2000. Oh well, it's only a mistake if I don't learn from it.
