I lost 8.5" total this weigh in. As of Saturday I have not lost any weight yet, but I will take those inches and run with them (literally, really!)

Pleased as punch over here!

It's a year to the day that I began my self-improvement program. I joined SP in April. I haven't been perfect and I'm not yet where I want to be; but "Here's to me!"

I've been struggling with extra weight in my mid section. I've been trying for a year to tone up and lose weight....I've started again. I go to Curves Smart Mon through Friday and I do 30 min on the threadmill Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun. Plus actively doing sit ups while watching tv.....I hope this shows some results!! ps: I'm also watching my calorie intake and the food I eat.

I am busy eatting lots of fruits and vegetables every day and eatting almonds daily. Some one told me to try probiotic yogurt daily and I am. I am starting to lose but this week will be a challenge for I will be in meetings away from home and eatting whatever they serve us. There is always lots of good sweets like cheesecake etc. Should be interesting

That's awesome! It's a great feeling to get into something that hasn't fit you in a while. I still have a little way to go to be comfortable in clothes that I got for Christmas. It gives me something to work towards though!

I hope the school trip was fun!

I'm going on a school trip with my dd this morning and I wanted to put on my 1 pair of jeans I owned (size 16). I haven't worn them since I got them because they were tight to get up over the hips and thighs. Well I can wear them now Woohooo! Size 16 still sucks but these jeans are one of those ones you can't go by size. Its a step in right direction.

I think it counts! I probably would have been in there! Way to go!

Well, here's my bit of news. I finally went back to my weigh in group and faced the scale, after not being there since December 5th. The lady who weighed me said sadly "You gained 3 pounds". When I cheered she gave me a funny look. I explained that over Christmas I knew I had gained 12 pounds by my scale and was too ashamed to go back to my group until I lost some if it. I finally broke down and went anyway, so I was excited to have gained only 3.

So now that I have gone back to my group, I can update my weight tracker. I realize that it's gone up a little but that's only temporary. I know that from now on I'm going to be headed in the right direction!

Does this count? Yesterday at work there was free cake AND free pizza and I passed on both of them! (Mind you, they were in different rooms & involved making a decison to go there--if they'd been in front of me, different story I think.)

Great going ladies! They say that you need to get enough sleep but I have a problem with that too. Mom always said I was a night owl! I'll stay up even if I know I have to get up early in the morning. That's the one thing I really have trouble changing!

FINALLY I am down a lb. this morning. Oddly enough, this comes after 2 days of being way over my calorie range (I really wonder if mine is set too low for me).
I sometimes think that if I had at least 8 hours of sleep every night and exercised, that would work better than calorie counting and exercise, but sticking to the sleep regimen is even harder than the calorie one. (Work hours is sometimes the reaon, but too many times I have no excuse.)

Well I've been going to the gym for a week now and I lost 1 lb this week...I was hoping for a bit more but figure building muscle through strength training. I'm hoping next week will show a marked difference. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the 1 lbs loss, better than a gain.

We are rooting for you LABEILLE! Don't get discouraged. If you gained a little, it could be because you are building muscle again.

You guys know how great this site is. If you have a question or a problem there is probably an article about it or an expert who can help you. And if all else fails we're here to help you feel better. If you just stick to your plan and keep your goals in sight, a few stumbles along the way won't keep you down for long. You're on your way, keep doing what you're doing!

I agree with you, this site is so wonderful. Don't get discouraged about the weight staying, going up. If you took your other measurements, I would check those too. If you didn't, take them now so next time this happens you can look at that and see any changes. WE're rooting for you!

I've been discouraged because since I started making an effort again with both diet and exercise, my weight has gone up, not down.
After 7 years either pregnant or breastfeeding I ended up with a huge appetite. When I started with sparkpeople it was a struggle to stay within my calorie range (I was always at the very top or just over), and now that my weight has come down some, my range is even lower.
Anyway, here's my good news: I just checked the tracker. Of the 15 days since I started, I've been IN range for 10 of them, and many of the other days I've been over by less than 50 cal.
Isn't it great to have tools that show us we're making progress even when the scale doesn't show it?

Way to go Heather! That's awesome!

You can weigh as many times a week as you want but because your weight could fluctuate over the week they tell you to go with once a week. As long as you don't get disappointed if you're up one tomorrow or something like that, weigh as often as you want.

I weigh every evening before I get in the shower and every morning before I get dressed (I think I have scale issues!) but I only record my weight once a week. Do what works for you!

Keep up the good work!

Congratulations on the loss your doing great. My daughter bought me an mp3 player for christmas and I love it. I use it on the treadmill all the time.

know we aren't supposed to weigh more than once a week, but I couldn't help myself and I've dropped another 3 pounds...whooo hooo. that makes 6 altogether since the first of jan. Now I have a question do those little I lost 5 lbs, 10, lbs, thingys just magically show up by your name when you lose or do you need to get them somewhere?

Have a nice day all...We can do this.

Yes exercise is a common one. Another common one is the fruit/veggie and water challenge. One I saw over Christmas but was late too was the idea of donating canned goods to local food bank pet shelters that weighed the same weight you lost. I thought that was a really great idea and thought its something that could go on all year as we know that those places need it all the time.

Well, after 2 weeks of sitting on my butt and thinking of every excuse possible to avoid exercise, I finally got up and did something about it. I did my SP strength training and went for a walk. I could really feel that I hadn't done it in a while. Now I just have to keep moving, right?

Maybe that's what I need to do too. Just pig out with the Halloween candy until I'm sick! I wonder if that would actually work. I had 2 full boxes of chips left over. They are dated Nov 19 so last night I convinced myself I needed to eat 4 bags so that they would be gone by the 19th. emoticon
The sad thing is that my DH agreed with me!

I know what you mean about the halloween candy. I took one nite and pigged out, then I didn't want to have any again.

Congrats Michelle, I have been ignoring the scale because I ate more Halloween candy than my two kids put together and I know it wouldn't be telling me things that I wanted to hear! But this week has been better and tommorow is a new one again.
