Hi Riverun, I belong to the Jemseg chapter of Tops but live in the little Village of Gagetown, what chapter are you with? Maybe we could get a chapter challenge going with your group, we have 22 members right now. emoticon

Hi I just read the information of costs for weight watchers and I`m shocked at the cost. I belong to a group called TOPS it stands for Take Off Pounds Sensibly and it`s not nearly as expensive. It`s 35.oo a year in Canada and you get a great magazine and our dues are 2.oo a week. We have a great group and get tons of information about losing weight off their website. look it up at tops.org they even have a feature that will find a group close to you. I love it, have been going off and on for years, and get tons of support. Hope this is helpful to you emoticon

Hi Jan. Are you back from Florida. What a change in temperature, oh well, back to reality. Are you getting ready to go camping? We're settled back into our condo and will go to the beach in a few weeks. If you have time would you like to meet for coffee. I'd love to meet a SP member and maybe it would motivate me. I need help!!! Bye for now and if it's not posible have a nice summer anyway. Diane

You can join Weight Watchers and pay weekly, for 3 months or for 6 months. I'm not sure of the prices for weekly and for 3 months but I joined for 6 months and I paid $299.00. I do know that when you join for 6 months they do not charge you a fee to join and that it is a bit cheaper. You can check out the web site at www.weightwatchers.ca and find out the prices.By the way...the prices on the web site are in US funds.

Happy New Year, Sparked Friends!

Hope the holidays went well for you. I didn't stick to my program as much as I should have; but I didn't do badly. It's hard to know if I gained as my scale wore out and I am using the old spring one which is accurate but seems to be set differently. So, in five minutes, I went from 143 tp 148. Oh, well, if it is consistent, it will be okay. I refuse to worry too much about it.

Anyway, it is one year since I began my program and I have lost about eighty pounds! I am so happy. I still have about twenty to get rid of but I feel so much better. This year I want to work on establishing my exercise program more consistently. It's hard with the icy sidewalks. I envy your weather, Gagnonbeach!

Hope your program is going well, Riverrun.

Jo

The only thing that saves me here down south is the exercise. I find I do a lot more activities then at home in the cold. I bike and hike and do water aerobics. I'm sure in the park where your going there will be some things you'll enjoy. Get active and don't have happy hour every night. I try to drink only a few days a week and not every night like I use to do. Do you have a lot of friends there? If so it's so much harder. We've developed a lot of friends and there's always something going on. Last night we went to a dinner theater, tonight it's supper with our neighbors the next night it's 2 parties. It's overwelming and it's really hard. After the holidays I'll have to get more serious. You'll feel so much better if you can lose about 20 lbs (10% of your body weight). Stick to it. Bye Diane

I guess once you lose all that fluid it get,s harder to take the FAT off. Boy I have alot of it, hate to look in the mirror, I hate everything about myself at the present time. I wanted to be in better shape for this winters holiday , I feel that I have failed . Once I fly down south in another few weeks it will be almost impossible to stay away from all that wonderful food. HELP !!! How am I going to do it Diane? I,ve been waiting a whole year for this wonderful fun time in the sun. Jan emoticon emoticon emoticon

Oh Jan don't get discouraged, this is normal. I've been in this weight lost game for many years and I can tell you that the first 2 weeks of a program you always lose fast because you're losing water. On the 3rd week your body is adjusting. If you exercise also you will find that muscle weights more than fat and there's also an adjustment there. Losing a pound is the normal. I usually lose about a pound a week but not much more than 2 (that's a really good week). Keep going, it's all worth it. Diane

Hi Jo: Thanks for the helpful tips, they make alot of sense, I,m in a rut at the present time, didn,t do that well this past week, for the last two weeks I had been losing about 2.5 lbs per week, this week I tried very hard and only lost a pond, what,s up with that, any ideas why I didn,t lose as much as the weeks before. How are you doing Jo, every have a week when you thought that you would have lost alot of weight only to find that you didn,t lose any or only a bit. Enjoy your weekend. Jan emoticon

You know, if you allow one or two hundred calories for after supper, you could have a mini bag of popcorn (100 calories) or air popped popcorn. It helps if you need something to chew. Just watch the toppings. I often have a banana or yogurt at eight o'clock. They both are suppposed to help you sleep better and more easily. A slice of whole wheat toast with peanut butter might help or a bowl of cereal. As long as you've allowed calories for it, it would be fine.

Hope this is useful!
Jo

Hi Joann: Thanks for cheering me on, I just got of the scales this morning and have lost another 2.5 lbs. emoticon I seen to be on a roll at the present time, but I know from previous experience that it will start and slow down once I have burned off that extra fat I,m caring around. This past week has been hard for me as I,m hungry often, after dinner is the worse time for me from about 8:00 P.M. on. I eat my three meals a day plus snack on dried fruits as well as fresh also nuts and veggies but still I,m craving something to eat. Any help or tips you can give me would be a great help. Have a good one. Jan

Congrats, Riverrun, on your weight loss. It does continue. I joined Sparkpeople in April. Since last January, I have arrived within twenty pounds of my goal weight. I started with baby steps. I eat five times a day-three meals and two snacks (of less than 150 calories each). That way I am full all the time and less tempted. I upped exercise-just walking or stretching and built up to about five days a week of doing SOMETHING rather than sitting down. Spark really helps.

Even when you reach your goal you still have to use the trackers. I was scared when I reached my goal and spark people uped my calorie intake. I was still eating at th eold one and I was loosing more weight which was very unhealthy. I now just try to eat at the lower range so if I do eat alot more on a day I am still within my range

Hi East Coaster Team Mates. I want to share this exciting news with you, I just joined on the 23rd of this month, had my first weigh in , GUESS WHAT, I lost 2.5 lbs this week, my first try at losing weight. I,m so PROUD of myself. I,m sure it will get harder as the months go by. Can you tell me if there is a program that will allow me to maintain my weight once I reach my goal?
