Well I'm pooped so this won't be a long post. I did post a blog about my day today though so have a peek if you get the chance.

I should also mention that I have slacked this past weekend with regards to studying so I may be a little quiet around here over the next little bit til I get these exams out of the way. I won't stray far I promise.

Good news for today I walked, jogged, sprinted 18.50k with my son today on an urban quest. You should check it out and give it a try. Hence my blog. What an awesome day it was.

Bad news for today my son, (nor did any other Atlantic Canadian) get chose to attend the North American track meet in Hershey PA. I was bummed that I had to relay that info to my son because I knew he had his hopes up. Hmm wasn't I put to shame. not only was he not bummed but it did not phase him in the least. He is fully aware that the odds were great so he stuck his chest out and pretty much told me that there will be other meets and then when it is his time to shine brighter than he already is then he will. Gosh my boy is the best! All I have to say on that one.

@Jo one of these days I will get back in the pool I miss it but something is still holding me back from that. As for my shoppping trip I scored a new dress, 2 pairs of earrings, a tank top, 2 pairs of flip flops, a pair of denim shorts, a top and a pair of capris for running.. all for ust under $60. Boy did that trip feet awesome...especially since now that I am jobless I will be heading back to the thrift shops.(not that I mind...as you know I am frugal) It felt great to splurge on something new.

@ Charlene...way to go on the loss, keep going. You do amaze especially with the industry that you work in. Do you become immune to the sweets?

Well like I said I am pooped kids are bed and I am not far behind.

Nite Nite

Nate

Hey everyone!

Don't be grumpy because it's Monday, be happy that you're alive and able to enjoy the start of another beautiful day! :-D

My weekend went much better than I thought it would. Friday was the only day that I was over my cals by about 500 (a whole bag of Quaker rice chips), Saturday ended up right in range (how the heck did I manage that?!), and Sunday was over by 12 calories. It still amazes me how a salad on Saturday will keep me in line for calories and feeling full. I ended up not eating much at the party, thankfully, and what I ate was mostly the cherries & had brought to share.

And because I did a water workout on Saturday while I enjoyed the pool bar at the hotel, my body-check weigh-in for a Monday was 164. Official weigh-in is Wednesday, but with my track record, I think I'll wait 2 weeks before posting the loss, to make sure the loss will be here next week too.

If you don't have to be stuck inside today, get out there and enjoy the sun and warm temps! You know as well as I do they won't stick around forever!

Spark on!

Jo

Hey gang!

Wow, lots of busy-ness going on the team! :-D

@Char - you're doing GREAT!! I don't know how you do it, working in a bakery and sticking to The Plan. I'm not sure I could, and it's the main reason I can't/won't work in the food industry, it stresses me out. I'm also so happy to hear you seem to be enjoying this job.

@Nate - WOO-HOO for The Boy! That is AWESOME!! I saw a few pics on FB, but I wondered if there were more uploaded. And I'm glad you chose to leave early, and that the retail therapy was good. What did you buy?

@Riteebee - Girl, when you decide to move, apparently it doesn't take long! :-P Are you and BF currently living together?

I just got back from a pool bar in the city with Toddylicious, his company was having a team-building day together, family & friends included, and he invited me to go. My Guy stayed home, passed out in front of the AC. :-D I don't think I burned any skin, I'm hoping the sunscreen applications were enough. Food's not bad today, but not great. At least I'm tracking. It's funny how I know I don't want to follow the plan or I know I've already gone over cals and then I don't feel like tracking. But so far today, I've tracked it all.

Heading out to a house party later tonight, and until then, I think I'll jump in the shower for a refresher, then sit on the deck until it's time to go. The breeze is just right that it takes away all the bugs. *grins*

Spark on!

Jo

First week back on the menu plan and I've lost one pound, which to me is great considering where I work, can I print that word here 'BAKERY'. Got to go make my lunch and then I'm out the door for one long, and busy day. Another wedding reception tonight.

Everybody enjoy the hot weather.

Allo Allo,

First of all just wanted to let you all know that I made the decision to exit work early yesterday..at lunch, and I don't regret my decision in the least. The minute I walked into my managers office and told him it felt like a weight had lifted off of my shoulders. Infact he told me that he was surprised that I made it that long after hearing the news. He thought for sure i would have left on monday but then when I told him how it was bothering me he totally understood. he gave me a hug and wished me the best. That was pretty much the remainder of my morning I checked in with a couple of friends and then my Project Manager. Hugs all around and out the door i went. As I walked up the hill one last time to the street and across the bridge I had a spring in my step. From there i headed to the mall for some retail therapy..boy that was just what I needed. I hadn't shopped like that buying something brand new in a long time. The release was amazing.

It felt great to slip in to 7:30 this morning...on a weekday. My kids were amazed to see me at home, so when i sat them down and told them that they had me for the rest of the summer they were pleased as punch. From there we headed out for the day..sun, ferries, pool..just what the Dr. ordered.

On another note, my running son update: Got the news yesterday that he is most definitely 4th in the Maritimes...I was/am completely overjoyed to say the least. I was/am telling anyone that wants to listen. Just waiting to get the details on the next meet which is the North American in Hershey Pennsylvania. So looking forward to that. The hubby had already planned on a trip to NYC in August but the plan is most surely gone out the window now. Would much rather head to Hershey with our boy. TBC...

Well I'm beat going to be another long day tomorrow. Hubby has the day off so we are having a family Saturday...don't get to do that very often.

Night nite
Nate

Wow time flies! Where has this week gone??

Nate - again sorry to hear about your layoff, but I'm sure you will make the best of it!! You have such an amazing positive attitude!!!

Jo - I agree, loving this sunshine!! :)

Well last friday night we went over to a friends apartment to have a drink with her and hang out. I ended up gushing about the place, it's a brand new building, in a fantastic location (close to work and my daughters school) just absolutely gorgeous. So I said "wow, amazing apartment *insert friends name here*) and my boyfriend piped up and said "why don't you see if they have any left?" I was shocked to say the least, we hadn't even been talking about moving!! So on Monday I called, they had 3 left, we looked at them, found one we liked, applied, got approved, and are moving September 1st!! Holy cow that all happened so fast!! I'm excited but stressed out. I haven't even told my daughter yet because she has been away at my moms. It will be a good move though, I'll be able to walk to work everyday, there is a gym in the building, and it's just a brand new nice place! I'm excited!! We have to move out of our place August 1st so I'll have a month of being "homeless" but I have friends I can stay with so it'll be okay.

That is my news of the week.

I did go for a run Tuesday evening. Monday was busy looking at the apartment and last night I wasn't feeling great. I'll go again tonight though, and hopefully Saturday morning, get 3 in this week :)

Hey Gals!

I love these sunny days.... and I'd love them better if I had planned some vacation time this week. *snicker*

@Nate - *grin* If only I could explain how much your words mean to me, how it makes me feel special that you, too, are looking out for me. I agree that battling more than one addiction at a time is very difficult, but I've thought about this a long time. Addictions are, usually, related to events or memories from our past that we can't resolve, and the mind finds ways to forget, in order to not deal with them at that point in time. I started smoking about 10 years ago, just prior to my weight loss journey, and I knew that I was pushing off some of the emotional eating issues onto the smoking. The chemical addiction to food is one I can control, but that's not the hard part. It's also the same hard part that's causing me so much grief as I try to quit smoking. Because of this, I decided back in February that the year I quit smoking, I won't commit to more than 10lbs lost that year, especially if there isn't going to be a Dead My Guy by the end of the day. I've been considering psychotherapy as I quit smoking, to get to the root of the issue that's triggering the addictions, face them and resolve them. There was one particular issue I've had since I was 4, and it's not horrible or anything, it's the mind of a 4-yr old who wants to be the only child, and who resents the new arrival. Funny thing is, my sister & I are the best of friends, and have been for nearly 35 years. So I'm thinking it's not that issue, since I believe in my heart that it has been resolved. I may also opt to use hypnotherapy while I work on these issues, and with any luck, after this inner work is done, I'll also be able to better manage my food issues, too. Nate, you are awesome for thinking about this. :-D

@Char - So you got to drive a Big Truck, eh? *grin* I miss driving the Pathfinder, but it's such a gas hog that we can't justify it, especially when we have a Puddle-Jumper vehicle that works just fine. There's nothing like looking out the vehicle window, and realizing you can see almost EVERYTHING around you! :-D Tell me more about this video you saw about eating for our age. It's not that I'm trying out different fads, but like Nate, I'm taking what I can use in a lot of them to make up My Plan. More protein, eh? I guess it's more meatless options to get all that protein in! :-D

So we have our tent for our camping trip, we've put it up once in the back yard, to make sure we had at least a clue on how to put it up, and we took it down last night, because the neighbour's dog has been visiting our dog early in the morning, and he's marking territory on our lawn. And if you read my blog about the camping trip, the list is almost ready, and I think I'm set to go! :-D

Time to head out, making sloppy joes with ground turkey for supper tonight. YUM!!

Spark on!

Jo

Evening girlies
Things are moving along nicely and the sun shining each day is a bonus. Got my car back today. They gave me a big 4x4 to drive while the work was being done on my car. Not use to sitting so far up and seeing over the vehicles in front of me. They had to replace the pedal position sensor. Now I don't have to worry about my cutting out on me while driving. Not a good thing on the highway.

Nate-Sorry you got your lay off notice. Hopefully something else will come along for you. Meantime enjoy the fine weather and the time with your boys.
I did try the change goal but it's my food menu. I want to go right back to step one. That's where I had my weight lost last year.

Jo- Thanks for the info on the seated workouts. I will be checking them out for sure. Getting a little pudgy in the mid-section and it doesn't feel good when I sit down. Have to get on that.

I was watching a video yesterday and it stated that we should be eating for our age, meaning less carbs and more protein as we age. Also we should eat for our body types. That's as far as I got. Will have to check it out again and see what else it has to say.

Well time to check out of here. There is lunch to be made for tomorrow and then to bed as 4 o'clock comes early.

Enjoy what is left of the eveing my friends and good night emoticon .

Today is another day and I am managing ok. My managers have not spoken to me at all. Not because they are being rude I just think it is uncomfortable for them. They were not the ones that let me go it was an Executive Decision and you all know how that works with large Corporation. All about the bottom line. None the less you would think they would at least check in on me to see how I am doing. I am pretty much sitting in my big corner surfing and doing nothing. Not sure I can get through 3 more days of this though. My last day is supposed to be Monday. Definitely wont be coming in on that day. Pay or no Pay. Doesn't make sense for me to get up on a Monday morning to work for one day...and I use the term work loosely.

Anyway @Jo I have to say something now don't take offence. But I learned in my PT training that trying to tackle more than one addiction or big life change is a lot to handle at one time for a person. I mean do you think that it is a wise decision for you to try and quit smoking while you are still in the weight loss phase of your life. Now I am not saying that you won't succeed I'm just saying maybe that is why you are having so much difficulty. Just tell me to mind my business and I will..and I am all for you to succeed at the quitting, but I do see the reasoning behind it. I know that it is not a healthy thing to be doing in fact it is a deadly habit but did you ever think of saving that task for when you are in the maintenance phase? Just my thoughts is all. I want you to succeed in everything that you do just trying to help you figure out what's best.

I too have been wanting to read the Eat right for your Blood Type something that I have been thinking about it for a while but with my studying have not had any extra time to read anything else. Maybe now that I will have so much free time on my hands I can find the time to pick it up. I don't really take all that kind of stuff as Gospel but I have read some excerpts that were passed on to me and have been curious to read more.

Well I think I will take off early today. There is only so much surfing one can do. Would rather be out running in the sun.

Later Friends.

Nate

Hey Sparkers!

One of these years, I'm going to take the whole summer off, and I hope it's one of those really hot & dry summers. This just isn't fair today! It's too nice to be indoors!! :-P

@Charlene - So sorry to hear about your hip, and I agree, that really stinks! That said, have you looked into the seated workouts on Spark? If not, you might want to consider them. I looked over 2 videos on Friday, both less than 15 mins each, and I was impressed! They're quite the little workout! Start with this link:
www.sparkpeople.com/resource/lifesty
le
_center_detail.asp?id=19

One of the gals from the Girlies Ditching 100+lbs suggested those exercises when I was last complaining about my hips and ankles. This might tide you over until you're allowed to do more intense cardio.

@Nate - I'm so sorry to hear you were laid off. That's never easy to take, regardless if you knew it was coming or not. I like your attitude to the situation, though... give 'em your best right up until you hand over your office keys. I know way too many people in GNB who wouldn't even lift a finger if they found out they were getting laid off. And you're right! This is now the time to build up your small business for PT! I missed how you did with the Bioenergy stuff, I saw that you were having a hard time grasping the concepts, how did it work out for you?

I'm working on tweaking my diet a little bit - and diet is a loose term - with some of the fruits & veggies I should be eating on the Eat Right For Your Blood Type. Berries are on the top of the list, but I need more than berries to get me through each season, especially when they're not in season. So far, I've (re)tried grapes (seedless only, I'm not spitting them across the room at the office!), plums and peaches. It's been a while since I've eaten those, and I had forgotten how much I really enjoy peaches. I bought a small basket of apricots, since they're high on my list of should-eats, but I can't remember what they taste like. And obviously, I haven't tried one yet. :-P Why not? Because I'm a goober. :-D I think tonight I'll try one, and if I like them, I'll pack some in my lunchbag for tomorrow. I also have a grapefruit at home that I haven't tried, but only because in my youth, they were the most horribly-bitter-tasting fruit I have ever tried. One of the in-laws suggested I sprinkle a pinch of salt over the cut fruit, wait 2 minutes, and dig in. She said it really cuts down the extreme sweetness that makes it taste bitter, and it's much more palatable. Again, I'm a big goober and haven't tried that yet. Apparently I shouldn't be eating a lot of bananas, maybe 2-3/wk at most, so I've scaled those back too. And we're doing ok with not having beef & pork every night for supper. Not great, but ok. It helps that I've been making comfort food recipes with ground turkey, a low-fat vegan homemade spaghetti sauce and low-fat old cheddar, having 2 meatless suppers a week, and making sure that we have real beef or pork once during the week, usually on the weekends. There are a lot more foods I still need to change, but if I can get the fruits to be the best ones for me, then move to the veggies, I know the meat will take care of itself later on. I haven't even looked at the dairy and grains sections yet.

And if you hear on the news that someone in GNB has gone headless, just know it's probably me who had to bite off some insensitive jerk's head as I quit smoking. Again. At least PMS won't be an issue. :-D

Spark on!

Jo

Ok I'm back but I still a going to make this short.

As some of you know I struggled with idea of returning to work and then when I did it has been a struggle to stay based on the quality of work..well the decision has now been made for me,I officially got my lay off papers this morning and my last day is on July 16th. I am not really shocked especially since I have not been overly busy. The thing that is upsetting me though is that I am on a union and that others have been hired after me doing the same sort of role and they are not laid off... I have decided that inquiring minds want to know but I have all decided that it is what it is. I am not going to let it get me down. I have been laid off before and took that time to get my life back, this time I will use that time enhance it even more. I am going spend some time with the kids this summer and enhance my life even further. I didn't decide to become a Personal Trainer for nothing so this is the perfect time to sharpen my skills and get out there and build my client base.

Ok back to work...going to finish what work i do have leave this place on a Positive note.

Good Morning Friends.

Don't have the time to post my Daily right at this moment but I was popping by and noticed that Charlene wanted to start over.

Try going to your START Page and (bottom left)where it shows that you have lost so much or what your weight is depending on how yours is set up..there is a link where you can CHANGE GOAL. There you will click and change all of your numbers and dates. Also up a bit you can change your food and Nutritional Goals.

Hope this helps.

Will check back in later to post my daily.

Good morning everybody
Overcast and a wee bit windy here this morning after such a beautiful weekend. It was a busy one for sure. Bakery was busy and catering a wedding to boot makes for hectic work days. Didn't get a chance to wander through Cavendish this weekend with the music festival on.
Jo- The t shirt I ordered from Cows is loose fitting for workouts but it was the caption on the front I wanted on a t-shirt. It was only available on long sleeve or night shirt,so they did a special order for me on a t-shirt.

My hip took a slight set back on Saturday. I slipped a bit on some spilled water in the walk in cooler and I didn't fall but twisted the hip. Hurt like heck during the night but I did my exercises yesterday and it feels much better. Back to physio on Wednesday. Don't like these set backs, totally throws me for a loop. Can't go for walks cause it is too painful to go any distance, and not going to Zumba is not going over well with me. But my hip doesn't bother me much at work though. The only exercise I can do is some mat or ball work for the core and some weights for upper body.
I've decided I would like to re-start my program from the very beginning and start all over again. Does anybody know if that is possible? If so, let me know how to go about doing it.

Today is my day off and there is lots to do but now I'm having car problems so it is off to the dealership to do a diagnostic test and then grocery shopping.

Have a great day all and I'll drop in as time permits.

Spark On Friends emoticon

Hey everyone!

I agree with Nate, T-G-I-F!!! It seems like this week would NEVER end! LOL

Just a quick update, I've still got a ton of stuff to do before 4:30. I checked out that clothing store that's closing next week, and I scored big time! For $150 taxes in, I walked out with 2 pairs of capris, one skirt, and 9 tops. Some of the tops are for winter, long sleeves and short turtle necks, while others are t-shirts and blouses. I bought them all in a bit of a rush - I had 30 mins before my workout, I had only meant to pop in for 5 minutes, and I stayed for the whole half hour and tried on some 25 pieces of clothing. Three of the tops are purposely a size smaller than I need right now, but they're the winter ones, and I'm fully expecting to fit into them properly come November. :-D

I was just on Facebook a few moments ago, and my cousin posted something quite interesting. One of our extended family members on PEI recently shot this music video, and it's about my great-uncle. Every word he sings about Oncle Denis is something I've experienced myself, first hand, when my family visited them in the summer.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFmOCBoAI1c&
fe
ature=share

I thought I was going to bawl before I got to the end of it.

So most of the weight I put on over the last couple weekends is gone, just 3lbs left to deal with. And the hard part starts tonight -- keep tracking food over the weekend. Other than buying a tent for camping this summer, I don't think we have much planned, which means I'll have to be very vigilant this weekend with food intake.

Spark on!

Jo

Well I got another run in last night. It was slow and long and hot and humid and I was coughing a bit but I did it. 5.43K in 45 minutes! I made dinner for me and my friend and we hung out after, it was nice :) I am taking a rest day today, running tomorrow and have a 18K hike and picnic planned with my friends for sunday! Should be a fun weekend!

@Nate, your son sounds like an awesome kid :) I hope he does great, I'm sure he will!! I know how hard it can be to want to be there for things and aren't able too. I'm glad he knows you want to be there so bad! Have fun at your class tonight! and have a good weekend!

Well its Friday again, boy that came on us quick. So glad for that.

Tonight is my 3rd PT class so looking forward to it. Although I have been struggling with the Bioenergetics stuff. I did reach out to my classmates for assistance and we have decided to form a study group before class this evening so that should help me figure some stuff out.

I also have a class all day tomorrow and once again I am kind of bummed because tomorrow is the day when the boys will be heading to Moncton for my sons Track and Field meet. I swear if he does not get good footage the hubbys ass is grass. I am so anxious.. I really want to be there and he really wants me there but he understands. He explained to me hat my support is better then is fathers support because Daddy is all hardcore and militant.. he loves that deep down he says because he knows that I am the one that is sift and cuddly so when i am there to cheer him on I am bouncing around screaming and cheering whereas Daddy is pushing him,. He confessed that he needs both of us but yes he does understand that I have a class and would be there if he could. He then said that's why he tries as hard as he does because he loves my reaction when he gives me the good news. These confessions by the way occurred last night after we finished Shaun T's Rockin Body Workout (2 in fact). I was just going to do it by myself but then once he realized that all it was was cardio and dancing and jumping around he was all in. He hung out with me for 40 minutes stepping on my feet and banging into me because he couldn't get the moves and going the wrong way. He really is a great kid.

Speaking of Shaun T. Last night was the first time that I used it since I purchased it a few weeks ago from Groupon. It is an 8 workout set with a meal plan and tips. Also comes with some recipes. I will be trying some of the recipes but probably not follow the meal plan. It really was interesting. I have not tried Zumba yet but something tells me that this workout system is probably similar. A lot of dancing and bouncing around. I have wanted to try Zumba so I guess this is a step in that direction. Definitely had my sweat on that's for sure. Don't get me wrong he aint no Jillian..lol but I think I will try all workouts to see what works best for me.

Happy Friday all.

Nate

Checking in again :)

Last night I ran 8K but it took me an hour! Well technically I ran 8.32K and it took 1 hour and 7 minutes and 51 seconds, lol. Boy oh boy am I sore and tired today! haha My cough is still lingering a bit but I don't feel miserable which is good :) I might head out again tonight with a friend for a run. It'll be shorter (probably 5K) I want to be able to do the Navy10K in an hour and right now I'm much much slower than that so I have to keep working at it!!

@Nate thanks!! A friend took that pic at a party I was at this weekend and I actually don't hate it! haha Great job on getting your son out and about! Your studying sounds intense! I'm sure you'll do amazing!

@Charlene - welcome back....nice to meet you! :)

@Jo I hear you about weekend indulgances and earasing all your hard work throughout the week, it's so easy to do. Hopefully you can get back on track and so can I! Weekends can be so tough but we can do it! That's awesome about quitting smoking!! and doing it together is even better!! :) Hopefully the rain goes away soon!!

Hey Sparkers!

Well, it's official, my job is now busy. :-D That's ok, it was high time the workload picked up. Now to just not become overwhelmed with the workload!

@Charlene - so glad to see you're back! Cows makes a t-shirt for working out?? Oooohhh.... I might need me one of those! Is the material breathable, or is it a regular cotton blend t-shirt?

@Riteebee - Girl you are doing so well! I try to get to your blogs daily, but sometimes, it just can't be helped.

@Nate - You're busy as usual, and yet, you somehow find the time to do it all. Or that's what it appears from here. :-D Good for you for getting the couch potato son up & about, and for getting him signed up to a sport.

So although I had a great long weekend, I overdid the eating, by a lot. I'm over 170lbs again, plowed through 3 boxes of Peek Freans cookies in those 3 days, a lot of chocolate, and a LOT of berries. Then the cramping & bloating started, and I still haven't finished going through the sodium intake side-effects. I really need to get that handle on the weekends fixed, I can't keep doing this. It's discouraging, because I work so hard during the week to have it all wiped out over a short vacation. Yeah, I'm not a fan of that. And My Guy & I are on the quit smoking bandwagon again. I really hope this time is the one. I bought one of those e-cigs, and I think I'll try it this weekend. Smoking is much worse on the weekends, too, and I really hate the idea of planning my weekend so much that I don't feel like I've relaxed. Still so much personal work to do....

Ok, enough of being bummed out, the rain is already doing a number on that one. It's now a matter of pulling up and keeping up my bootstraps. :-D

I'm also hoping to pop over to one of the mall merchants today & tomorrow, they're going out of business. It's one of the ladies clothing stores from the Lindor chain. The clothes are pretty, but normally a little pricey. I'm in desperate need of t-shirts and blouses, summer pants and capris (aka clamdiggers), and if they have any left, office shorts. Since I didn't spend my allowance last week (we've been doing allowances for each other for the last few months, to teach me how to use cash more), I have over $100 I can spend at that store. I love a great deal, but I hate seeing businesses close. I'm not sure how this mall will survive for small businesses, especially since Zellers is closing in January. We're down to Sobeys, Lawtons, Charm Diamond, RBC, Ardene's, a tailor shop, a seamstress shop, a small tack shop, a vaccuum repair shop, a knicks & knacks storefront, a collector card shop, 1 hair dressing shop, and 2 Chinese-food restaurants. I really hope mall management finds a department store to replace Zellers, something like Giant Tiger or Winners is what most of us in the office have thought about. So I'll take advantage of the sale today/tomorrow, and hopefully come out with at least half a dozen pieces of clothes.

My dinger just went off, I've got 5 mins to get to my next meeting.

Spark on!

Jo

Hello Friends.

What a beautiful week it has been. Wow has been nearly that long already? Sorry but between studying and family time my days seem to fly by like lightening.

Canada Day celebrations were a blast...Involved more bbq and wine than I needed. But alas no regrets. Stuck to my daily goals for the most part. Still managed to get in a couple of good walks and a run. Gotta love spending time with friends and family..especially when its warm and sunny. I love being outside.

Tuesday was back to the grind and also bootcamp...this one was even more of a workout than the 1st. I had posted on my Facebook the amazing time that I had. Even Tweeted about it. My gym tweeted back and told me that they loved that I was challenged. to quote a bit of what I said. "I mean how may people can say that they pulled a sled via a rope tied around their waist filled with 50lbs of sand up and down a hill" and that is only some of the fun that I had. Can't wait for my next class.

Today was an off day for me...I mean off by taking the day off of work to spend time with my son. We logged in over 7k (including the bridge) of walking so hats of to him for getting out because he is the one that would rather stay in all day and play video games. Trying my hardest to get his attention on other interests. He is very resistant to the idea. I enrolled him in a basketball camp in a couple of weeks so I'm crossing my fingers that he likes it and will want to continue with it after camp is over.

@Charlene, so glad to see that you are back...You were missed. Hope you healing up nicely.

@Riteebee, love that new pic. I hear you about the running. I am so busy lately that I just cant seem to find the time for it...I feel horrible about it as well. Especially since I a supposed to be in training mode for the Navy10k. No more excuses I am now back on track and my lunch time runs will resume.

Well time to get the kiddlettes to bed at least the younger ones. I have to get some studying done..still having trouble grasping the Bioenergetic stuff..I know I will get it but gee..

Night Nite

Nate

Just checking in, better late than never.

The weekend was busy busy busy with celebrating but it was a very fun weekend indeed!! I only got one run in between all the plans and getting a cold, but at least I got one in.

Got a nasty head cold forming on Sunday, stayed up to watch the fireworks anyways and by Monday was feeling terrible. My daughter went to my moms so I just rested all afternoon on Monday. Tuesday I worked but felt terrible and last night was another resting kind of night. I'm hoping to be well enough to run tonight! I'm going to try at least :)

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!! :)

Hey gang,I'm back.
Had to get a new computer. So much has happened in the past 2 months. Last time I checked in I had fallen and hurt my ankle. Well while I was babying that I developed bursitis of my right hip. I am presently taking physio to relieve the pain. So I had continued with Zumba for a few weeks and now I have to give it up for awhile until I get this problem of bursitis corrected.
Been trying to do my best with the food since I had no computer to check my daily menu. I haven't gained or lost during the last two months.
Hope everyone had an enjoyable Canada Day emoticon emoticon . Spent the day with family and friends in North Rustico taking in the day long actitives and fireworks.
Glad to be back emoticon . A big 'Hello' to the newbies who have joined this site of Maritimers.
Take care everybody,I'm heading to Cavendish to Cows and not for ice cream. I special ordered a t-shirt for Zumba. So I have to pick it up before they sell it on me.

Good to be back emoticon .

Hey Sparkers!

Long weekend! Long weekend! Beer & Clamato Juice! Long weekend! WOO-HOO!! :-D

@Nate - I hope you're still feeling better. My Guy has also noticed that his allergies that he denies having ("No, I don't have allergies in the spring. My eyes always itch like this in May & June") are a little worse and late this season. I've also heard of a few co-workers reporting the same thing.

My fitness seems to be improving lately. When I do Shred (twice a week, used as strength training), I can now do real butt-kicks, as in a light jog, and 2 of the 3 sets of jumping jacks are now real ones. I'm still having a hard time with modified push-ups, but I have to keep working the arms & shoulders for that one. And when I do WATP that's longer than 20 minutes, when there's a "power walk segment", I can now jog in place. It's not a big jog, but it's a jog. And just to see where I was at in leg presses, I did 1 set of 5 leg presses @ 60lbs. Pretty good, I think. :-D

With the long weekend comes a filled-up propane tank at home. :-D I haven't had a beef burger since late winter, Sobeys has lean ground beef on sale, and I've got 4 juicy ones ready for the grill. Mind you, there's no beer & Clamato juice, so we'll go with our regular Smirnoff straight up during some of our celebrations. I'm looking forward to sleeping in past 6am! LOL

I'll try to pop in this weekend, but no guarantees. I will be thinking of everyone, though!

Happy Canada Day, and above all....

Spark on!

Jo

Well, I really do not feel well today. i am not sure if I am suffering from late in life allergies or if I have a head cold but either way I feel like crap. My head is killing me I'm stuffed up and I just want to go to sleep. It is all I can do to stay at work today. So I walked up to shoppers to grab some sinus medication to see if that works. I hope so. Last thing I want to be is sick on a nice and warm long weekend. I am determined to not let it get the best of me.

SO what have you all got planned for this weekend. I have a few things planned.. and the hubby is off all weekend so that's even better. Rare that he gets an entire weekend off. Well I guess I should say the entire weekend he is off at 3 on Saturday but the he is off till Tuesday so YAHOO!

So I juts finished my fabulous, tomato, avocado and sliced chicken with swiss cheese sandwich and it was absolutely divine. I'm telling you there is nothing like eating something that you thoroughly enjoy and something that's healthy to boot.

Look at that the drugs feel like they are kicking in. My head doesn't feel as stuffy anymore. Lets hope they have done the trick. Now I just need my fog to clear and the I will be good to go!.

Well not sure if I will be able to check in this weekend or not. I will make an effort though. But just in case I do not get the chance I am wishing you all a very Happy Canada Day emoticon ! Have fun, for those that drink, do so responsibly and try not to stray too far away from your goals.

Hey Sparkers!

Today started off with rather wet weather, but now that the afternoon is here, the sun is shining. There's hope yet that those stupid slugs in the yard will shrivel up soon. :-D

I got some great feedback from InSh8p about the Rally, and she's asked to come back to the feedback portion a little later with me, since she had generously put off some personal activities in order to prepare for the Rally in Halifax. The main point she had was the timing of the event -- after Victoria Day weekend, it tends to be harder to get people to come out to events like this. That was great to know, it was something I hadn't thought of. We'll see what the summer brings, and if we can get another one organized either in the fall or mid- to late spring.

Today, I'm wearing a pair of hand-me-down jeans in size 16. And they're not petites. *sigh* I love the feel of the jeans, but they sit funny at my waist. I'll either have to give them up or ask the seamstress to lower the waistline. If I slide them down to my waist, I have muffin top. If I straighten up the material so it's smooth, I can't bend at the waist. Now to see how long I'll put up with this. *snicker*

@Nate - Moncton?? Really??? If you had been going up, I would have stolen a car to meet you in person. :-D And I think the meet is the same one that one of our technicians is attending as a judge, I think he mentioned it was the Atlantics he was judging. Your son must be really excited about going to the Atlantics! Run Boy Run!! :-D

@RiTeeBee - Yeah, you only have to learn that water lesson once. :-P One of the Chunky Butt Workout Girls had something similar happen to her last week, she didn't drink enough water in the morning, and by the time she got to the workout, she had a hard time. Once we figured out it was her water consumption in the morning, she made efforts to get at least 2 glasses in between 8-11am weekdays. She's quite happy that we were able to help her out.

And on that note, another folder just got plunked on my desk, and apparently it needs to be "handled" by 3pm. Wow, that doesn't leave me much time!

Spark on!

Jo

Just checking in :)

@Jo, I like your attitude!! Get back on the horse and plan another one!! Good for you!!

@Nate, the field trip sounds like a lot of fun! I wish I had more time to attend field trips! Darn work! Your bootcamp sounds amazing!

I have been extremely good at drinking my water ever since my little "attack" on the weekend. I didn't realize how bad it could get just from not drinking enough water!! Anyways lesson learnt, chug chug chug the water!! Went for a great run last night! 7.2K in 58 Min, slow but I did it!! Felt great! Such a nice evening for it too! No big plans for Canada Day. My very good friend is actually a Canada Day baby, so we are having a birthday party for her Saturday night. Should be fun. Sunday I think just relax, watch the fireworks from our patio! Should be a nice evening!

Hi all,

Haven't checked in in a couple of days.

Bootcamp on Tuesday night was fantastic. I didn't get to get outside with it because it was a crazy and windy day. But the inside workout was just as good. I have finally had the opportunity to flip tires. They weren't that massive one but tires none he less. Yes I know I can probably do that sort of thing at home but it's just not the same. Can't wait to see what next Tuesday brings.

So yesterday was a field trip with my big boys class. It was a great day we did lots of walking. Over 11k in total. then we enjoyed some activities that the DIscovery Centre and headed to the waterfront for lunch. Then after that we went and flew kites for a couple of hours that was a blast. TImes like those make you feel like a kid again.

So his next meet is on July 7 in Moncton and once again I am going to miss it, will be in class that entire day. I love the class but this so sucks when i have to miss my boy. Oh well the hubby has decided to make it a boys day. He will be taking my little guy and one of his uncles as well...they should have a blast.

@Jo no I have not got to the exam part yet. I still have 2 classes left. Then the written exam, (July 28th) Then I have up to 6 mos to complete my practical exam. I won't be waiting that long would like to knock it off as soon as possible. I posted on my facebook page that I wanted someone to volunteer to be my test subject for the exam so this should be interesting.

Ok back to work with me being off yesterday I have a little bit of catching up to do.

Hey Sparkers!

So I'm done sulking over the dismal turnout to the Rally, and I'm now thinking about the next one. Fredericton didn't have anyone turn out either, and it really surprised me that we didn't get any drop-ins. I'm going back to the drawing board, and I've decided that I want to plan another one, and this time, be a lot more prepared. :-D

@Nate - The running genes must be in the blood, and it's good to hear your boy did so well in the meets. 3rd provincially, eh? Impressive! :-D And I'm really glad to hear your PT course is going well, even if it is whippin' yer butt. :-P When do you take your final exam?

@InSh8p - You are simply amazing. I owe you a big thank you for the work you did for the Rally. Or an extra large double-double. :-D A quick question about the yoga practice you have: When you first started practicing, did you take a class or follow a DVD?

And we're on the verge of a long Canada Day weekend. Anyone have any plans yet? The only plan we might have is to check out yard sales on Saturday morning. Other than that, I think I'll conveniently unplug the phone, he'll hide the car & truck behind the garage, and we're locking the door. Now the trick is to not overdo the festivities, especially the FireWater. Man, that stuff gets me into trouble! LOL

Spark on!

It's a bleary looking morning here, but we need the wet to balance out the sun.
Yes, there were no "takers" at the Halifax Spark Rally, but there are some action steps that will be an important part of the next "event".
I attended a SparkLIve! event last night. It was late, but I hadn't been to one for quite a while. Earlier on Monday, I went to the Live dot com site (the hosting partner for SparkLive! events and meetings) to see SparkGuy talk about the next SP initiative -- SparkGuy's Army.
I have made an agreement with myself: As much as I love books, I am going to limit the number of print materials coming in until some more "stuff" goes out.
@Jo -- You have a lot on your plate -- best wishes for speedy healing for DH.
@Riteebee -- Softball sounds lots of fun. I never got the "swing" of it, but I sure am happy for you.
@Nate -- Of course you are on top of the world! 3rd in the province. Now that is feeling good, mmm mmm YES! And with a special person in the house providing a positive example by cleaning up in the certification course.. what else would you expect? Understood what you mean by taking some time off after the routine that was in the course. But another day, another routine calls your name; so you go after it.

Thanks for all of the support, SparkFriends.

Happy Monday everyone.

I had an awesome weekend. Started the course on Friday and I am so glad I did it is awesome. There are 21 of us taking it which is just as exciting. my homework for this week is to create a plan for my on paper client that was given to us. So that should be interesting. I was the 1st one there on Friday I was so eager. The instructor is amazing, she really knows her stuff.. and so she should. She put us through a grueling workout on Saturday after class was over 75mins of pure aerobic activity with a sprinkle of strength exercise thrown in....now you all know I love my interval training...well lets just say that I did not do a stick of exercise yesterday. Still feeling it today in fact. Really looking forward to my next class.

So as you all know my 11 year old is a Sprinter, has been for a few years now and you all know that he is 1st in the city, has been for the past 2 years. And you all know that I was bummed that I could not attend his track meet on Saturday because I had my class all day well.. Well I got even more bummed to find out that I missed my boy placing 3rd in the Province... yes I said it, he is now 3rd in the Province....tell me I wasn't screaming for joy when I got in the car after my class to see him with his ribbon. He now moves on to the Atlantics. My boy is on fire he is so over the moon...no bringing him down or me for that matter.

@ Riteebee, Way to go with the softball. That is one sport I could never get into. My dear I know you are busy but please don't forget the water if anything. Most important thing you can do for yourself.

@ Jo I heard that Halifax was not that responsive to the rally how did it go on your end?

Well back to work. Have a greta day all!

Happy Monday!! (such an oxymoron!) haha

@ Jo, how did the spark rally go??

@ Nate, how was the certification course? I bet you did great!

My weekend was good, busy full of plans, and friends visiting from out of town. I played softball all day on saturday, so I didn't get any "running" in per say but I ran bases and feel sore so I think I did something good :) I had my kidney's in terrible pain last night, I didn't drink enough water this weekend and when I'm dehydrated at all they get really sore becuase I still have stone in there, anyways feeling really tired and worn out from the pain. Hoping I feel better by tonight, swimming with the little one is on my schedule for this evening :)

Hey Sparkers!

I love Fridays.... especially 4:30pm. *grins*

@Nate - Butterflies?? Why? You're going to do fantabulous at this course, I just know it! Why? Because although the money is going to help, you do this because YOU enjoy getting and staying healthy... and that's saying a lot more than some of the PT's I've seen at Goodlife, for example. And remember to breathe if you stress out! :-D

SparkRally Tomorrow @ 11am!
SparkRally Tomorrow @ 11am!
SparkRally Tomorrow @ 11am!
SparkRally Tomorrow @ 11am!

Ok, now that I have that out of my system... :-P

A couple days ago, I blogged that I wanted some flavour & cooking method ideas for salmon. I ended up pan-frying the fish, because neither of us was confident the BBQ would deliver consistent heat, and it would be hard to check to see if it's done. Well, after that experience, I think I'll be able to handle the foil packets on the BBQ, as long as I can find the temp and the time they should cook. He didn't like the pan-fried salmon, I found it a little dry. But I had 3 pieces left, plus another package of 5 fillets yet to be cooked. So I've swapped the leftover salmon for the chicken I normally have in my lunch. I'm such a creature of habit that I almost had a panic attack over changing it up! Now that I've had the salmon for 2 lunches in a row, I can see that I would be happy to go to fish with my salad at least twice a week. The other thing is that another SparkFriend suggested salsa as the flavour. I had never thought of that! So the next time I make spaghetti sauce, I'll save some of the tomatoes and other veggies to make a salsa, and cook the salmon in foil on the BBQ with the salsa inside. Last night at groceries, though, My Guy said he didn't want more salmon right away, so we bought some haddock instead. Not quite as good for us as the salmon, but still a nice fish, based on what I've read. Somebody prove me wrong, though, so I can make the dietary adjustments. :-P

I'm heading out shortly for an eyeball exam -- my optometrist hasn't seen me in 2 years. Let's hope the rain holds off!

Spark on!

Jo

Today is the day. My Certification begins..I have butterflies in my stomach. Really anxious now. I'm sure I will do fine...just new beginnings. Looking forward to learning some new techniques

Not really much to say today except for that. Really busy at work.. these days are rare so back to work I go.

Hope you are having a great Friday. The sun has gone away again which is a bummer. But all I say to that is..."Gotta Love the Maritimes"

@ Nate That's awesome aboutthe personal trainer course! That is so exciting!!

Today is going good! I went for a swim with my daughter last night, that was fun!! It's a nice way to take a rest on my joints from running but still be active! Tonight I am running with some girlfriends, we are only doing 3K but heck it's better than nothing. Then we are going to get some sushi for supper and have some girl chats :) It will be fun!

My weekend is going to be nutty busy! I think I signed up for a bit much! Tomorrow night is out with friends that are visiting from Ottawa, haven't seen in almost a year so I'm looking forward to that. I won't drink too much, I swear! Then saturday I have a ball game to attend with my company (hoping the weather holds out) after the ball game dinner with a couple really good girlfriends. Then saturday night will finally be me and my bf time :) Then sunday my little one gets home from girl guide camp!! :)

Hope everyone is having a great thursday!

Hey Sparkers!

Things are ramping up for the SparkRally this weekend! Insh8p & I are trying the Skype connection today, hopefully all goes well. Remember to spread the word!

My Guy's leg is doing well, and I'm quite impressed with his immune system. The scabs are starting to form, they're not cracking when the skin moves because he's been laying the polysporin pretty thick. Last night, he finally FINALLY agreed to go see his family doctor, so I set up his appointment for Monday morning. The weekend should bring more good healing, and unless he has an infection, I've asked the doctor to not prescribe antibiotics if he doesn't need them right now. I've also asked her to give him a list of psychologists in the city who can help with behaviour modification, and another round of Champix. We're still struggling horribly to quit smoking, so we're stepping up the process.

I haven't lost any weight this week, but it's been a struggle all week to get some quality sleep. The nights have been so warm, and between that and hot flashes, this just hasn't been a good week to sleep. I'll have to dig out the box fans and put them throughout the house to create wind movement, and that should also help the mosquitoes from finding me so easily in the middle of the night. :-D

@Nate & RiTeeBee - you gals are doing FANTASTIC with the runs! Because of your successes, I started jogging a little during the Walk Away the Pounds videos, when it's a "power walking" segment, and I'm up to a minimum of 30 seconds jogging, without any pain in my hips. Now, don't get any bright ideas that I might turn into a marathon runner - I'm just trying to bump up the workout a bit. :-D

Speaking of workouts, it's time for my morning walk in the mall.

Spark on!

Jo

Hello Friends.

I am having a great week.

I am getting excited for my Personal Training Certification Course to officially start on Friday. I have been studying now for about a month on-line and with my books but the actual in class portion Starts Friday I am so excited. I had a good little tear up last night because it hit me that I am finally doing it.

I got in some good runs this week. I have a track right around the corner from my house I have been running that because my son has the Hershey meet this weekend so as he has been training with the hubby I run. Although I have come to the conclusion that I really don't like track running. I prefer street running. I think it has to do with the monotony of running in circles. Running the streets gives me the opportunity to see the sights and switch routes. Always good to have options. Ill probably be running the track again tonight though because he is still training.

I did get a run in at lunch today... boy was I sweating. It was a lot warmer than it looked when i left work. All I needed was my tank top but I put on a short sleeve jacket...so did not need that. Ill know better for next time.

@Riteebee the trick with the pants would not have worked on my pants. They are super tight capri tights with a low waist band there literally is no extra material to gather. I wore them again for walking and they were fine so my walking pants they will be.

@ Jo glad to hear that the hubby is managing ok. Glad it didn't turn out to be worse than it actually is. Keep an eye on it.

Well gotta go...my the 10 glasses of water that I drank is ready to come out...Low

Later alligators.

Nate

Hehehe @Nate!! Too funny!! I've had that happen to me before, I've actually bunched up the pants at my waist and put and elastic around them!! It's a good trick! :)

Holy wow Jo! I would have been right in the ER too, and staying home from work for sure!! Huge wimp I am!!

My weekend was great, had the birthday party for my boyfriend, got a run in before guests arrive, had another run sunday, and another one last night (I'm trying to do every other day since everyday is a bit much for me right now). I'm still pretty sore, hoping it is a good sore and nothing is wrong :) I am enjoying running very much though!! :)

Taking the little one swimming tonight and we went swimming Monday, so those are my "rest" exercises! Love the water!!

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday!

Hey Sparkers!

At least it's not raining today. :-D Yeah, I'm working on staying positive, and keep the grumpy mood away.

@Nate - Oh honey, it might not have been funny at the time, but you're right, I had to cover my mouth at the office while I read your update. I couldn't stop giggling, and thinking how mortified you must've felt.

My Guy's leg is healing, and so far, no infection. He's quite diligent in keeping things clean, and he's been very cautious about the wounds. The good thing is that there is a daytime walk-in clinic in the mall where I work, and they open at 8am, so if something starts to go wrong, that'll be the first place we'll go most likely. On Sunday, I took 2 pictures of the leg, and he posted them last night on one of his social networking sites. So far, everyone is in agreement he should have gone to the hospital. That said, since we had some nursey-types in our midst, I'm starting to think we did the right things at home, and the hospital wasn't necessary. Now, if that had been ME who got the burn, you bet your bottom dollar that I'd be in the ER waiting room 20 minutes after it happened, and I'd STILL be at home today! Yeah, I'm a wuss. :-P

I've also come to realize that although I'm interested in quitting smoking, I'm still not committed. *sigh* I hate that part. I also now know from experience that if I'm not committed, it won't last. I would rather quit smoking before that first heart attack, but I just can't seem to find that Oomph to get me there. With the amount of money we still spend on smokes, we could buy a 2-3 year old car tomorrow. I think I might need some alone time with my thoughts on this soon, to find that commitment within me that will get me through this. *staring at the nicorette gum on my desk*

I managed to get some 45 minutes worth of lawn mowing done last night, and My Guy decided he wanted to weed-whack, so in 45 minutes, we got most of the big front lawn done. Tonight, I'm hoping we can get at least another 45 minutes in before supper, and finish the little front lawn and some of the side-of-house pieces finished up too. That reminds me.... I gotta put that in my fitness tracker. *grins* Lawn mowing burns A LOT of calories, and the sweat that pours off my brow confirms that. :-D

I'm off to get some paperwork done, and hopefully not get lost under the pile. :-D

Spark on!

Jo

Hello Fellow Sparkers.

I had a pretty good weekend. Didn't go over my goals not once. Even got in my workouts.

So Saturday morning was hair appt day and it was late and early enough that I had time to get up and go for an early morning run. I am not a morning person at all but I figured I was bright eyed and bushy tailed so I might as well get out and take advantage of it. However it did not turn out the was that I had anticipated. See I bought these new tights at Winners specifically for warm weather running, they suck...at least for running. So there I was looking all cute and coordinated with my new gear and sneakers. Got my warm up done..got my legs going got to the end of my street and uh oooh, my pants are creeping down my ass.. and they proceeded to do that for the next little bit. So there I was trying to run and pull up my pants at the same time. What should have been a 5k run turned into 4.19k. I had to slow down or stop constantly to pull up my pants. Thank God I had a jacket on or I would have quit it altogether. But I was bound and determined to finish my run so I trucked on and kept pulling them up all the way home. Im sure onlookers thoughtthere was something wrong with me. They are so cute too. Guess they are now my walking pants. So back I go to the mall for new tights. I did end up finding a pair at Zellers..their workout gear is on 30% off this week. But yet again not quite what I want. There I was on Sunday over at the sports field working out with my whole family, again thinking I was looking cute... even asked my husband and my son did my pants look ok. They both agreed that they looked fine..so I continued on and completed my workout. Went home and decided not to change because I was going to workout later again. So I sat down had my lunch and decided to pop on kijiji.. I have been looking for a used but good weight bench..YES! I found one...so I screamed to the hubby to lets go. Hauled the kids off to Nanny's jumped in the car and headed 30mins out of town to buy my bench. The lady was so nice she threw in a ab bench and a woman's tennis racket. So I ended up getting the weight bench with all of the fixings(weights and bar) an ab bench and a racket for $40. Tell me that did not make my day. Anyway I get it home and decided to clean it all down in my backyard.. there I was bending over up and down for about a good half an hour, the hubby is on his way to go get air in the tires for the car when he calls me over and proceeds to tell me the next time I wear my tights I should put on black underwear that he doesn't want any other man looking at my baby pink and black polka dotted underwear and then drives off laughing. Tell me I was not embarrassed.. Because I had already asked him and my son earlier about them. At that point I was in for the night so I was not changing. Men I tell ya:)..

Ok, ok.. you can stop laughing now it wasnt that funny:(

Speaking of men.. @Jo, so sorry to hear about your man...Why am I not surprised that he would not go to the Dr. Luckily I have a man that goes to the Dr. for a paper cut. His family has too many health conditions that are hereditary so he is constantly at the Dr. making sure he is healthy. I really hope your guy gets some treatment would not want him to get infected. Threaten him and make sure he goes:)

Anyway my book is too long as it is, have to get back to work. Can't wait to go home and use my New to Me bench!:)

Enjoy the rest of your day!.

Nate

Hey Gang!

Friday was the last update, eh? Man, I really gotta work on my weekend Sparking! :-D

Thank you for the condolences, it is appreciated. I met up with several friends I hadn't seen in a few years, including a friend's GF. The friend has MD, but I had lost touch with both of them, so when I saw her, she gave me his phone number in the nursing home he's living in now. I really need to take the time to call him, even if it's just 10-15 minutes. My Guy is also planning for us to take a trip to Sackville/Amherst this summer, as well as a scoot around to Moncton, to visit my friend and then my grandmother. It just seems like time slips away so quickly.

Also on the weekend, My Guy decided to pretend to be Mr. Strongbad and throw mixed gas on the woodstove to get the fire going. Long story short, he has 2nd degree burns on his right calf & thigh, 1st degree burns where there are no blisters. He was extremely lucky, but the man being a man, I couldn't talk him into going to the ER. So we've been vigilant in applying polysporin and changing the dressings often. I called his family doctor today, to let them know he might need an emergency appointment this week if infection sets in, and I told the nurse the burn was pretty much from the top of his boot (just above the ankle) to the top of the thigh. And you're probably wondering if Mr. Man went to work. Well, despite my protests, he went anyway. I might have to stay home a day or 2 this week if he gets tired or sore, just so he stops doing stuff for a day.

We've got lots of lawn to mow again, but I doubt I'll get to a lot of it this week, even though I'll try. I will probably put My Guy on kitchen duty and I'll switch to lawn duty before supper for at least the week, and after that, we'll see. I'm a little tired from the weekend's events, so it's quite possible I'll stay home a day just to rest up. Either that, or go in late, just so I can get up a little later.

It's a wonder I don't drink myself silly sometimes. :-D

Spark on!

Jo

What a great Friday.

Today I had 2 ladies head out for a walk with me at lunch. Looks like the bug may be biting. I love it.

Was a really slow day here today at work so I have been studying and daily deal shopping. Today I bought $20 worth of Bowling or Mini-putt, food, drinks for $5. @RITEEBEE you might like that one for your family. Its at Beazlies in Dartmouth. If you get it make sure you use the code DAD5 otherwise the deal will cost $10. Also in answer to your question about the Navy 10k yes the deal is still on here is the link:

http://www.teambuy.ca/halifax/referral/j
037azzt/28138362/

I am running the 10k. This will be my 1st official 10k so training will begin for that on Monday. Looking forward to it.

@Jo I too am sorry to hear of your loss. Looks like the rally will be a success. I did my best spreading the word. When I get home I will post on my Facebook page. I don't have access it to hear at work.

So I was craving Subway today but I find that it has not been agreeing with me lately...at least I think it hasn't been so I tried something different today just to see. I normally get a Turkey Deli with ALL of the fixing but today I asked the "artist" I could get a half of a 6" whole wheat. She said yes... So far so good. I will know for sure in the next hour or so. It normally takes a couple of hours before my belly bloats and yells at me. I'm thinking it was the bread that they use for the delis. Lets hope this works because I love my Subway. I have to have it at least every couple of weeks.

So hope you are all having a great Friday. Lets hope it is a great weekend.

Oh and Jo, I wrote a blog talking about my "red face" after the run. Basically I did get comments from people as I knew I would, but I just found the courage to ignore them! :)

Hey Gang!

Sunny skies, rhody all in bloom, and a weekend about to start - now THAT's a Friday! :-D

@Nate - Inspiring people at work to get healthy is one of those good feelings, and just like you saw, sometimes we don't realize how much the Interested are affected or inspired by our words and actions. And congrats to both your boys! When the kids do that well, it's always a great feeling for the parents, thinking that just maybe, you've done it right. :-)

SparkRally details are up on my blog, as I mentioned a couple days ago. I forgot to mention not to share the link to my blog on Facebook or Twitter - don't laugh, but my weight loss journey has been hidden to most of my family & friends, mainly because I have so many failed attempts that I didn't want their hopes to get up. So I only share the successes I have with everyone. That said, copy & paste the blog contents to your own if you like, and share away.

That reminds me.... I need to bring in my own laptop to work next week and check the Wi-Fi connection from within the meeting room for the Rally.

We're going to Moncton tomorrow, both on a happy and sad note. A friend of ours passed away on Tuesday, and his funeral is at 11am tomorrow, and after that, we're heading over to my sister's place for a BBQ to celebrate her birthday (12th) and Father's Day. BBQ... hmmm... I have visions of high cholesterol meats being flamed up. Maybe I'll do the paper-towel blot thing before I put the burger on my bun.... assuming I even go for a bun. :-D

Have a great weekend, and a special happy day to all the Dads out there on Sunday!

Spark on!

Jo

I'm at it again.

I just found a daily deal on TeamBuy for a discount on the Navy 10k. So you know I was all over that. Regular registration cost $39. I got it for $15 which includes the kit, T-shirt some swag and a pre-run breakfast. Tell me I'm not jumping for joy. I had wanted to do it and now I'm doing it for sure. YAHOO!

Just a quick note to share my joy!

Hope you are having a having a great day.

Hello Friends,

Ended up being a beautiful day here afterall.

Went for another walk today at lunch, I figured as long as I am getting out and getting others out with me then that's all that matters. I will run after work when the hubbys schedule allows. One of this nights will be tonight so looking forward to that.

@RITEEBEE, I already told you that I am proud of your for busting through your fear.Way to Go!

@Jo, yes I figured that as long as she is showing interest than some interest is better than no interest. And this lady for sure seems to be interested. She may not be going out with me during lunch but she has been getting out. I know definitely made her day today. I saw that she was just getting back in from her walk with the guys so I popped over to her desk to tell her that I was proud of her for getting up, getting out and making an effort. I nearly made her cry. She said that she really is trying and that it is because of me and that when she is out she thinks of me and that if I can do it then so can she. That she has mentioned me to her friends as well. So I will take that. I really am proud of her.

So my boys both got awards at school yesterday. Tell me I was not jumping for joy. Especially when my little guy got the Citizen of the year for his grade. It was awarded by the police department. That just made his week. He is still floating on a cloud. That's saying a lot for him because he is the one that can have self esteem issues. But ever since he has been seeing a child psychologist his attitude has change to the point where even the school has noticed. I am so proud of him. Of course big boy got his sports awards as well but we are so used to him getting awards that he was kind of overshadowed yesterday. Sure we are extremely proud of him but my little guy really needed that. So way to go to both of my boys.

Well back to work.

Hey Sparkers!

Well, I'm on my last day of testing, and it appears to be a lighter day, so I just might get caught up with Sparking today! YAY! :-D

SparkRally details are posted on my blog, so if you were waiting for that special wording before spreading the word, it's up now. Feel free to link your blog or post to my SparkRally blog, even if you can't attend.

@Nate - co-workers asking for advice but then not following through is something I've dealt with for years. And I've come to a conclusion: when they ask, it's usually in preliminary stages of deciding to make the change, as opposed to faking interest. Those are the people who need our support the most, because they have the desire to make the change, but fear and not having a plan already in place are often what hold them back. From the feedback I get at work, I've inspired many, but to date, only 4 keep coming back to the gym with me. While I freely will help others to get good form while doing WATP knee-lifts, and I will freely talk about my weight loss struggles and the journey, I rarely expect anything to come of it. So when someone does take interest and starts making the changes, I'm pleasantly surprised.

@RiTeeBee - Nice job on running at lunchtime! Running isn't something I'm ready to do yet, though it's close, I can finally jog for 30 seconds or more without my hip causing me any pain. How did you deal with the red face, since you had mentioned it?

Not much going on for me, other than the SparkRally plans and mowing lawn. Ugh! I'll be glad when we finish mowing all the lawn for the first time this season! It's been rough to mow, even with a powered lawn mower, the ground is still soft from all the rain. We're thinking of buying a lilac bush to plant out front, not sure if we'll get to it this year, but if we do, we have to do it soon so it will have a season of growth to see flowers next spring.

Time to go for the walk in the mall!

Spark on!

Jo

I did it, I did it!! I ran on my lunch!! I'm going to blog about it, but I did it!! YAY!! Thanks to Nate for the inspiration!!

You'll have to let me know how you enjoy your bridge run this weekend!!

That's great that you are encouraging friends and you got one of them out for a walk. Maybe someday you'll have her running too!! :)

I do understand how that is frustrating. It isn't frustrating that she isn't eating good, it's frustrating that she is wasting your time asking for advice if she isn't going to do it. I totally understand why that would bother you! Try not to let it get under your skin too bad though. At the end of the day it must be kind of flattering to have people asking you for advice on how to look AMAZING!!! :)

Anyways feeling on cloud 9 after my lunch time run, might get to play tennis with the little one and my boyfriend tonight :) Such a beautiful day!

Now if only I could get up in the morning and do my strength training I'd be all set! haha

You're not a weirdo. You can do it. I am looking forward to my bridge run on the weekend.

Only had a walk today at lunch. A friend of mine that I work with wanted to go for a walk so I opted to go with her. i would prefer to run especially on a day like today but if it gets her up and moving, I'm all for it. Been trying to get her to run with me but so far no go. Maybe one day.

You know what's funny? I had another friend of mine at work ask for some advice so I gave it to her..Nearly busted her head with all of my info. Plus she sees what I do and eat everyday so she know I'm serious. Well I guess she's not, at least not yet. I saw her in the kitchen getting junk out the vending machine..I pretended not to notice and went about my business but obviously she was embarrassed because she started to pretend like the machine was rejecting her money then she hovered near it til I left. The funny part is she doesn't answer to me so why not just eat what she wants to eat. I could care less what she puts in her mouth. What bugs me is when you ask my advice, say you will change and then do the opposite. Its fine if you are not ready but don't pretend for my sake. I don't know it just bugged me a bit.

Anyway off to bed, going to be another nice one tomorrow can't wait.

Nate

Hello friends,

Date night was great we went to Jack Astors. I had the Lettuce wraps which were to die for. Although I split them with the hubby. Next time I will be eating the entire order myself. He actually said the same thing they were that good. and I looked up the nutritional info and they are only 153 cals. After that I had the Lamb Kafka, which was also fab, although I only ate half of the pita and skipped the tzatziki sauce... I also gave half the lamb to hubby. Will definitely be going back there again. Must admit I had 2 glasses of Zinfandel as well which was also to die for. Lets just say if we only went to dinner it still would have been a fabulous night. After that we went to Chapters which is normal for us on a date night we always peruse through the "self-help" books if you know what I mean, not like we need any help in that department *wink, wink* *snicker, snicker* Then we headed to the movies and saw "What to Expect when you are Expecting" it was cute.

Today I went yard saleing and between travelling about on foot for that, my 10k walk to the gym and back and my 60 min kickboxing class I burned some serious cals.

So all in all I will say that I had a great weekend.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a nice and sunny warm day so will be looking forward to that.

@Riteebee conquer your fears girl. Red face and all. Its a red face that comes from hard work and dedication. they ask why your face is red, you'll be honest and tell that you just had a great run. Nuff said! Once your body get mack to normal the red will even out. Although I can't force you to do anything you don't want to do...

Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Nate
