I did some strength training today, and Max and I did our 2 mile walk.
I have also got my eight glasses of water in today. WooHoo!
My calories were in good range, although I noticed my sodium was a little high. I don't add salt to anything, but I had some processed food. I have to watch that!

I hope you are all having a great day. Sun is shinning somewhat and its not a bad temp out there. On my lunch hour today I walked 2miles in 40 minutes not bad since I haven't done it since February. After work I will be walking my dog for a 4.5 mile jot it usually takes me with him about an hour and 15 minutes depending on how much he stops and sniffs.

Hi everyone! Sorry I wasn't around yesterday but I went out of town. My DH had some students involved in the regional Heritage Fair so he wanted to go and support them. Of the 6 or 7 medals presented 2 went to his students so we were pretty pleased to be there! After we got home we were involved in a 50th anniversary party. I'm happy to say that I didn't overdo it while I was there. I did have one small piece of cake but that wasn't too bad.

Today my DD's track and field team had a carwash. We were there for over 4 hours and there was a lineup of vehicles the whole time but I counted it as 2 hours of heavy cleaning. I'd rather underestimate than overestimate. When I came home I did the 1st video in the Beach Body Bootcamp. It was cardio and although it was only 10 minutes I found some of it challenging.

It sounds as though everyone is doing well. Keep it up!

Sneaker, when you lose the weight you'll appreciate some "fat" pictures. It'll let you see how far you've come!

Good afternoon somewhat evening guys and gals. It is another lovely day and I am about to head out for a bike ride not the motorized kind the peddle power one.
I have been putting it off because of the weather well I have no excuse today. I feel so fat I really don't want to but the fat won't come off if I don't move. Besides I would really like to do the MS bike run this year and finish it I did one about five years back and wiped out about 5miles from the finish line because I missed one of the check points to get water so I go dehydrated and wiped out couldn't finish the last 5miles because of the fall I ended up with a concussion. Can you believe it. So here I go once again fat and all.

Another gorgeous day! Max and I have been for one walk already, and this evening I think we will go to the beach. We have been outside for most of the day, with some short walks around the property. I am hoping that with all of these extra walks I can kickstart my weight loss, and get off of this plateau.
Labeille, you're right, doing something is better than nothing. Just hang in there and it will all come together.
1Sneaker, I sure wish I could go on a bike run. I have my license but no bike! Maybe someday!

Well, I did some DDR on Tuesday but then with choir and working late and being tired, no cardio since then. Last night I did some of my resistance ex's while watching a TV movie (couldn't believe I'd done it only twice in all of April!) Today I took DD to a dance competition this am and did about 10 min. of walking while she was warming up, that's about it. I still have ski equipment to take up to the attic...at my rate of 2 pieces per day it's not enough to get the exercise credit. Oh well, doing something is better than nothing.

I had a great day today. My husband and I went to the biker blessing in truro and there was about 700 bikers last count when we went through the town of truro with a police escort. What a blast. It was the bigest turnout yet in the 21 years of having it. My husband has a harley road king black nice bike I really want to get my own bike and ride. My only down time to the day was looking back at the pictures of the day and seeing my burnt nose and seeing how fat I am in pictures. I don't think I will have any pictures taken for awhile until I loose some weight. I hate seeing myself this way. emoticon

Wanda, the Newfoundland Kitchen Party sounds like a blast! I would have enjoyed something like that. You sure are one busy little person, aren't you?
Well, Max and I got two walks in today. Total of 2 miles. I also took my friend shopping, which turns into an all day affair. This evening I am doing some laundry, and hanging it out on the line. I figure I got my workout for sure today. What a gorgeous day it was. (No Rain!)

Hey everyone, I had a busy day today. I was volunteering at my daughter's school all day. They had a Newfoundland Kitchen Party in their class today.(Local musicians and lots of traditional Newfie food!) It was great! I had another meeting this evening and my friend's daughter came by with her new baby(8 days old) so I didn't get any exercise in today. Hopefully tomorrow. If not I start the Beach Body Bootcamp on Sunday.

I did find a few minutes to set a new team goal. I hope it's ok. We'll try it for this month and see how it goes.

It sounds like you are all doing well. Keep up the great work!

Hello Everyone;
Max and I are getting in the routine of it rains we walk, anyway. I actually don't mind as long as it's not too heavy a down pour.
I also had to do some minor repairs on Max's kennel today. (That was an adventure.) Glad I have been doing my weights workout. It sure came in handy when I had to use the hammer. (Hubby is away on a fishing trip.)
I get my blood checked once a year, as well. I have borderline high blood pressure. The weight loss, and the walking is helping me control it though.
Rob, it's good to see you had a good day yesterday, with the walking and everything. Keep up the good work! With each step you take you are getting closer to your goal!
It's supposed to be a fairly decent weekend. Max and I may make it to the beach for a really good hike. Here's hoping!

Hi my friends,

I had a good day yesterday. I actually increased my walk to 3/4 mile and not short of breath either... my body must be adjusting, but I think I will stay at that for a few days before I attempt the one mile.

I have these blood tests once a year. Basically to check my cholesterol and also my blood glucose levels. I am borderline diabetic but not to the point of pills yet. My doc says that proper lifestyle changes will suffice for now (another good reason for SparkPeople). I do check my blood sugar every so often with a meter I bought and it seems to be okay for now anyway.

It was a blah day here yesterday and is raining here today. I feel for those in and around the Saint John River in NB. That must be awful.

Some days I just tend to yawn all day. I don't know whether I'm not getting enough air or I am jusr b-o-r-e-d. I just don't have that Spring get up and go yet, I guess. I'll ask my doc about that on Monday when we review my bloodwork.

I love this group. East Coasters is the best! Nice to have some "local" support, isn't it?

Take care, my friends!

Rob.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the bloodwork is routine stuff (every 6 months) to check glucose, cholesterol and iron. There's a lot of diabetes, heart problems and high cholesterol in my family. Because I have borderline high blood pressure and I'm overweight, my doc keeps a close eye on me. I'm also anemic (but getting better) so I have to keep a close eye on my iron. But other than all that I'm great!LOL

Anyway I didn't do any activity today because I'm basically too lazy (I blame it on the blood loss though!LOL) I'll get back at it tomorrow.

I think I'm starting to like rain!! Just kidding! I am not letting it dampen my spirits anyway.(ha!ha!)
I had a dental cleaning appt. this morning and after lunch, Max and I did our walk, and I have been tossing rope rings for him for alot of the afternoon.I just wish I had some of his energy.
Hey, Rob, it's good to see you posting here as well. Isn't it a good feeling to know that we are not alone in this quest, of a new lifestyle?
Keep up the good work.

Hi friends,

I had a great day yesterday. I logged all my meals and I actually walked 1/2 mile and didn't feel out of breath for a change. I'm going to love this.

Wanda, I'm like you. I have to get into that "headspace". BUT, I know that I will get there.

I had all my yearly bloodwork done this week and I see my doc next Monday afternoon to go over the results. Fingers crossed and hoping everything is okay again this year!

Ahhh, I try and think positive all the time. I'm a "glass half full" guy, rather than seeing the "glass half empty". Laugh and the world laughs with you!

Have a great day!

Rob.

I've been really busy today but I made sure to take an hour for my weekly volleyball. We always have a great time! We do so much laughing we're starting to take bets on who pees in their pants first! It's as much laughing as exercise!

I logged all of my food today and I'm about 50 calories short but I'm fasting for bloodwork tomorrow so I guess that will have to do. I'll have to go to bed so that I won't want to eat!

It's great to see you back Rob! I've been here a year and I've given up on myself many times in that year but I keep coming back because I don't want to be like this the rest of my life. Eventually I will get into the right headspace to lose all the weight that I need to lose. I'm working hard at it now, maybe this time will be the right time. Maybe not, but I won't stop trying!

Max, and I went for our walks again in the rain today. It was a little chilly at first, but I soon warmed up.
I've done much better today with the water intake. I was a little over on the food. Note to self: Tomorrow I will do better.
It sure is great reading how everyone else is doing. Keep up the good work everyone.

Hi Rob.
Glad to see that you are posting and holding yourself accountable. That is a great starting place!
Getting walking again is good. Build up your srength and endurance day by day.
Great intentions carry us only so far. Slugging it out in the Trenches is not easy but consistency is rewarded.
Speaking of rewards or gifts to ourselves - I think that your gift of giving yourself a healthier lifestyle is the very best gift that you can give yourself for your birthday!
My thing is that there are no silly qestions - it is silly not to ask them. So - ask away.
Happy Birthday.

Hi my friends,

I think I am going to start posting here more. More??? I've hardly ever posted. Life is so stressful for me. Anyway, I began my walking again a few days ago and I cannot believe how out of shape I am! After about 5 minutes I started getting tired, after 10 I stopped (isn't that awful). I figure that I'll start my walking back up in little "baby steps". I was doing a mile last fall before all the snow hit without any problem at all. Wow, how I deteriorated! :)

I started Spark People in Feb/08 with every intention in the world. I logged every peice of food, all my other goals, posted and read articles. My, how I have gotten off the trak here! So, today, I decided that this is it! I began my logging again, walking (a bit for now), watching what I eat, etc.

My birthday is Saturday and I want to give myself a birthday present. I want to make little steps toward my goal of being healthy. This sure doesn't seem like a real birthday present. But I am finished with procrastinating and I want to get on with changing my life.

So, bear with me, as I may be asking tons of what I feel are silly, stupid questions. But, I do need some help along the way and I know this group is agreat one and that's why I'm here!

Rob.

I do not know if any of you are interested, but the Biggest Loser Trainer, Bob Harper, has launched 5 - 5 minute videos that are on the Net. They are called Office Workouts because they can be done quickly in the office, but they can be done at home. They are quick and can be done at almost anytime.

Here is the Link if you want to check them out:

Thanks Glenda,
I found heavy cleaning in the tracker and counted my cleaning. Normally I wouldn't count housework but this was a workout (up and down on the chair and my arms are going to kill me tomorrow!). This evening I also did a 15 minute ab video and did 30 minutes on my exercise bike. Now I'm ready for bed!LOL

Good to see that the rain didn't stop you!

After work this evening I went for my mile walk with Max, in the rain. It wasn't too bad.
Wanda, heavy cleaning is in the tracker. It is working a lot of muscles. Way to go!

Do be proud of what you have done! You are taking care of your body according to the time and resources that you have available. What matters is that we are making progress towards our goals.

Yesterday was my big workout day. Today will be less. I have a personal goal of 1000 minutes of exercise a week. There will be some weeks though that I will have to set it at less due to illness, family things, etc.I try to do various things too , to keep it interesting and not overwork any one muscle group or my joints. I stick exercise in wherever, whenever I can. I used to grab a book and read every spare moment. Now I doing something active. Its what I need. I have committed to myself that I will do what it takes to lose this weight.

We are all at different points and that's ok. Every journey begins with the first step and we proceed from there. The main thing is to keep going forward, one step at a time.

Alternating jogging/running and walking is very good. It builds up endurance and gives you higher intensity bursts of exercise!

Dianne

I'm doing Ok so far today. I'm tracking everything that I eat. My brother moved out on Sunday(he's been living with us while he was going to college) so I've been scrubbing the walls and floor in that room all morning. I guess that counts as exercise. I should check the fitness tracker and see if it's there.

I'll check in on you all later!

I went for a walk/jog on a country road while DD was at her dance lesson tonight. I still can't jog for any greater distance than I walk, and I've discovered if I change over at shorter intervals I don't heave and wheeze quite as badly. I will never understand people who can run any distance.
Dianne, how is it possible to do so much exercise in one day? I thought only movie stars getting back in shape after baby did that!

Well I was proud of myself for doing 40 minutes on my exercise bike but my little workout is nothing compared to Dianne's. Great work Dianne! After reading all that you've done today I need a nap!LOL

Well, my Last Chance Workout is well underway. I have done a 60 minute walk, 30 minutes on the Treadmill, A Curves Circuit Workout, 20 minutes of lunges, presses, and bicep curls, and a 30 minute dance workout. Will do some more tonight.

Exercising does us good in so many ways. Let's go for it and do what we can!

It looks like everyone is back in week day mode again. This is going to be a good week for all of us. We have a new month coming! I feel like I've been on the computer all day but I plan to get a ride on the exercise bike later. (After the kiddies go to bed! Sigh!)

Glenda, it seems that you are starting to get back to your old self. I hope your new friend helps! Hugs!

Well, I felt so bad about my last post that I got on my exercise bike for 40 minutes. I feel a little better about myself. Now, if only I could stop eating everything in sight....LOL

Finally back exercising again. Went for a 35 minute walk/jog (too nice a day to waste indoors, and I almost did).

Hi.
Its Saturday. I do not know if I will get here everyday but its a great idea. I will try to come here regularly.
I did weights, squats, lunges, gazelle, dance, and stationary cycle today. I tracked my food and exercise. I updared my Spark Page.
A pretty good day.
I would love to hear from my Team mates about their day.

Hi Glenda!
This is a good idea. A great place to see how everyone is doing. I'm struggling again like I always do when I'm busy and put myself last. Someday though, my kids will be grown up and I'll have too much time on my hands!LOL
