we do something similar to what LYNETTEMOM mentioned they do with salads. ours is burrito night. we cook two different proteins like ground turkey and black beans and then cut up lots of different fresh veggies. everyone can make their own the way they like and "most" of the time everyone is happy. =-)
My go-to cuisine is Indian. I will eat just about anything cooked Indian. Put enough spices on it and it isn't nasty anymore lol

I create salads by having a choice of ingredients which everyone can mix and match to suit themselves: no waste and no whining! For example, I don't like tomatoes but my daughter does, she skips celery which I like.
