My only comment is about trying a new food a week. For me that is not something I plan and it's difficult to do. I'm not saying others can't do it, but I map out breakfast (usually the same 5 days a week) and lunch and dinner is kind of on the fly, but I'm betting most of us don't have "new" things lying around our pantries because we tend to stock them with what we'll eat.
I guess there are ways to do this, but in these lean times, buying something I'm not at all sure about isn't going to happen unless maybe I'm eating out.
I'd say maybe aim for 3 veggies a day or 2 fruits or something along those lines that is much more doable. Or 3 fruits and/or veggies a day.
