I have also been on Gabapentin for sometime. Then I find out from the doctor who prescribed it that I am not experiencing nerve pain! go figure!! He did not take me off the medicine but upon discussing with my PCP, I am slowly going off.
One of the things that I was concerned about when taking 900 mg per day was that if it was killing some of the pain, what would it have been like without it? I was truly scared then. Have not experienced any increase in pain since lowering my dosage.
I also drove from the beginning. I really had no other option so just took it easy.
It took me a it to get used to it I started with a lower amount but I drove from beginning. Welcome if you need anything just get hold of me. I have been bad for three years so been through most of it.

You will note that it is best to NOT drive or operate machinery UNTIL you know that you can do so safely. Some people can't do this at all, after taking the meds, and others can after their body has gotten used to it. It might pay to see if a friend or perhaps a member of a Church or some other responsible organization can take you to your appointments if need be!
After reading what amount Gabapentin everyone else is taking, since I am only taking 900 mg a day I shouldn't have a problem with it, maybe.
Although my son stopped by and he was totally amused at how forgetful, and spacy I am today. My body is still getting used to these, so hopefully after a week or so, it will balance out and my spacy-ness will be a lot less.
Are you able to drive while taking these pills? I have a lot of appointments to go to, and my adult children wont be able to take me, so I sure hope so. I have two weeks before the next ones, so I am hoping I can function better by then.
