Thanks for the encouragement. May not turn out so well today. Did not sleep well and woke up with more pain this morning. Will try out my tens unit today and hope it helps relieve some of the pain.

Yay! I just checked my tracker and I walked 960 steps today - that just shows how much my pain was down today. Love this Spark Tracker.

Lorac67 - Hope you like the O24. I just wanted to let you know that I use rubber gloves to put it on as I don't want to make a mistake and rub my eyes afterwards. Don't know how long it lasts even with thorough hand washing.

Thank you for this link I will definitely try it out it sounds wonderful I like both scents I will try the wipes first then if I like it I will get the spray if I need it.

Lorac67, it isn't just the VA!! I have had to get 2nd opinions for full explanations. What a pain. I am ramping down from the Gabapentin. Apparently I do not have nerve pain so that drug is not needed. No additional pain and I have gone from 900mg daily to 300mg daily.

I found something online for fybro that works well for me. It is called O24. It is all natural and comes in a wipe or spray. I like the spray for my neck and other easily accessible areas but the wipes work best for my low back issues. I generally use it at night as the scent is very powerful - peppermint/rosemary. When I am at home alone, I will also use it during the day but out and about, it is such a strong scent that others may not appreciate it as much as I do.

Gabapentin isn't a medication that is taken 'just when pain' - it is meant for regular continuous use. Also, with my Stepfather, when he was reducing the meds, his GP was going to prescribe it once a day. The Specialist said it was best going to a reduced dose, and taking it 2-3 times a day instead because it doesn't have a 24hr life in the body.

I take 1800 mgs a day of the Gabepentin and then either 60 or 120 of the Baclofen a day. I think it helps although I was only taking it when in pain the Dr wants me to take it all the time so I guess I will.

I know what you are going trough. Hurt my back in the 1990s but it got really bad around 2009. I a, on Gabapentin it binds me up nd takes away the worst of the pain but I still hurt. I get steroid shots and they burn my nerves.
I get shots next week then get scheduled for a burn after that.

Your meds get called different names to ours, but Gabapentin is one pain relief my (then) 92yr old Stepfather was given for extreme pain caused by advanced arthritis in his neck. He never had any side-effects to it, and it helped immensely. When it was time to take him off it, I got the Dr to titrate down slowly just in case the pain was being masked so it wouldn't go from no pain to lots again.

I have used Voltaren Emulgel (Diclofenac in a gel) and that doesn't have any smell of heat - it just works.

Good luck with your issues.

Hi, I am new, and just was reading all the ideas and tools people use, but no one mentioned this pain gel. I have used it since 2003 when I hurt my back and got a tear in my L-5 disc. It takes the edge off the pain, is topical, and natural. It does not smell like Bengay, Tiger Balm, or Flexall, etc, either & its better than Blue Goo, Biofreeze, and everything else I have tried over the years.

I get mine from the local medical supply store, but in CA and AZ when I lived there, I picked it up at my Chiropractor office. I don't see a chiropractor any more since moving to TX 2 yrs ago, but the one I went to in AZ was awesome. It is also sold under another name of Sore No More but it is the same stuff.

I have sciatica on left hip, that when at its worst goes down both legs, and down one to the foot and I limp. The sombra will allow me to function too!

Today I found out my results of recent MRI that the severe neck pain I have suddenly gotten and numbness and pain in my hands, fingers, and arms is all caused from a bulging C-3 & C-4 disc, and disc degeneration. So not looking forward to seeing a Neurologist.. but that will be next month probably before appointment is scheduled for that.

I am amazed at the amount of drugs they gave me today... Neurontin (Gabapentin), Naproxen, Vicoden, and Microzide (Hydrochlorothiazide) for swelling.

I am not familiar with most of these, and am hoping the side affects will be worth it. Anyone have experience with these?

I took the Neurontin for 3 weeks back in June, I was unable to think, barely walk, and was a total ditz.. unable to drive or function like a normal person, but this time I was told by this doctor to stick with it, and wear a hand brace at nite to help me sleep (from the pain that swirls up my hand, fingers, arm and shoulders)

I hadn't planned on sharing so much.. fingers going numb... will check back later..

But..

~*~One Day Closer~*~

Whoo Hoo!!!
