My regular doctor and spine specialist were no help at all with my nerve pain in my right leg. Physical Therapy made the pain much worse. I dumped them both and started seeing a pain specialist. He has a lot of ideas to address the pain but we are starting slowly and carefully as I do not want to use opiates unless it becomes absolutely a last resort. I am now taking Tramadol which has greatly reduced the sciatic pain, pins and needles and loss of sensation. I am able to do more around the house and even getting out a bit more. : )

I am going to start with an x-ray and see how the hardware looks. I used the vacuum cleaner on the sofa and chair yesterday and was up most of the night in pain. I care for my disabled husband and help my elderly Mother, so I can't afford to be down very long. I to get so tired of being in pain and so limited in what I can do.

The exercises that I did in PT was mainly stretching and treadmill,a leg press machine and hand bike. I have a recumbent bike to do the hand bike exercise,I can walk a half mile and stretch, there's one problem with all of those exercises, cramps, lots and lots of leg cramps. I do take a muscle relaxer but it can only work for so long. I hate the foot and leg cramps while sleeping. A friend thought I might have restless leg syndrome,I don't know. I guess I have to take that up with the neurologist. Ever since I got an epidural shot to my right sciatic nerve I have had one occurrence of sciatica, and that was years ago. I no longer have sciatica in my right(dominate) leg because of that one shot three years ago..I'm going back to the doctor who gave me the epidural, to my lower right side of my spinal cord, just to kill the pain I feel in my right pelvic bone, now that is a killer pain! I suffer from sciatic pain in my lower back and in my right leg. My doctor sent me to physical therapy for this, but afterwards it came back. Instead of going back to PT, I do the exercises at home. I am now seeing a chiropractor to try and correct the problem. So until you can get back to your doctor, I would suggest trying the exercises you did in PT.

Does anyone else have severe pain in both legs? I have 2 low back surgeries, the last one in 2006. My leg pain has returned with a vengence the last two weeks. I can't sleep for the pain if I do anything during the day. It is 1:00 am here and I am so tired but legs hurt to much to sleep.
