I haven't had this done but suggest the following regardless of what type of surgery!
1. What is the expected recovery time?
2. Generally how long before I will be able to do various things? (itemize as in exercise, home chores, driving, etc.)
3. Will special equipment be needed re assisting in/out of bed, chair raiser, bed raiser, toilet raiser, walker/walking stick, etc.
4. Would it be beneficial to have an Occupational Therapist see my living environment so that a better assessment can be made of No. 3?
Good luck with your appointment and the overall outcome!

I'm meeting a neurosurgeon for the first time on Tuesday morning. I already know that I'm going to end up having a microdiscectomy. I'm wondering what kinds of things I should talk ask about. I have made a list of all of my symptoms and problems that I've been having along with a list of questions about the surgery. What kind of information were you looking for before your procedure? My mom is attending the appointment with me and will have lots of questions I'm sure, but any information you can give me beforehand would be great.
Is there anything that I should be preparing for before surgery?
What were your experiences after the surgery?
