Yeah I was out. It was weird because I know they didn't put my out too far that I couldn't respond to them, but I have no recollection of what went on. I hope I didn't say anything too weird :). I hope your follow up goes well!
I understand your liking to watch - I like that sort of thing, too! When I had a hook-wire biopsy for a breast lump a few years ago, the Dr was trying to get me to look at the wall so I couldn't see him making the incision in my breast. I refused. In the end I told him I liked blood and guts which is probably why I was a First Responder. He gave up and accepted I was gory. It was actually quite interesting and if I had been allowed to be awake while they removed the lump, I would have, but that was a general anesthetic.
I hope that pain is reducing now and you get good results long term.
I had the RFA done today. I usually don't need sedation for my back procedures (I am a neuroscientist, I like to watch), but they insisted for this one so I don't remember much of the procedure itself. Right after I was vary sore. I laid down with some ice and some NSAIDs and I am still sore but that is supposed to go away. I will wait and see and let everyone know.
I've had RFA twice. The last one was 3 weeks ago. They work for most people with facet joint arthritis, but they didn't work for me. I was good for 10 days, then the pain came back, so it probably was the steroids they used that I was getting the pain relief from.
I have facet joint pain due to disk degeneration in my lumbar spine (primarily L5-S1 but its spreading to the others as time goes on). It started in 2006 and I have tried epidural steroid injections, medial branch blocks and facet joint injections along with physical therapy. Everything works for a while but then I have to step up to the next thing. I go in tomorrow so I will let you know what I think about it.
