Same thing here, no memory. It's strange, because the first time I had RFA, I remember them waking me and zapping me. I hope yours goes well, too. Keep us updated with your progress.

Yeah I was out. It was weird because I know they didn't put my out too far that I couldn't respond to them, but I have no recollection of what went on. I hope I didn't say anything too weird :). I hope your follow up goes well!

Fingers crossed that it works!! Let us know. Were you "out" for the procedure? I was out and remember nothing! My doctor follow up is next week.

I was sore from the needles being inserted not so much from the back pain I normally feel. I am still sore today though not as much. It just feels like I over worked my muscles.

I'm surprised you were sore right after. I had no pain for at least 24 hours.

I understand your liking to watch - I like that sort of thing, too! When I had a hook-wire biopsy for a breast lump a few years ago, the Dr was trying to get me to look at the wall so I couldn't see him making the incision in my breast. I refused. In the end I told him I liked blood and guts which is probably why I was a First Responder. He gave up and accepted I was gory. It was actually quite interesting and if I had been allowed to be awake while they removed the lump, I would have, but that was a general anesthetic.

I hope that pain is reducing now and you get good results long term.

I had the RFA done today. I usually don't need sedation for my back procedures (I am a neuroscientist, I like to watch), but they insisted for this one so I don't remember much of the procedure itself. Right after I was vary sore. I laid down with some ice and some NSAIDs and I am still sore but that is supposed to go away. I will wait and see and let everyone know.

I've had RFA twice. The last one was 3 weeks ago. They work for most people with facet joint arthritis, but they didn't work for me. I was good for 10 days, then the pain came back, so it probably was the steroids they used that I was getting the pain relief from.

There is a lot of information on this forum
www.spine-health.com/forum/treatments/pain
-management
about RFA and other forms of pain management.

I have facet joint pain due to disk degeneration in my lumbar spine (primarily L5-S1 but its spreading to the others as time goes on). It started in 2006 and I have tried epidural steroid injections, medial branch blocks and facet joint injections along with physical therapy. Everything works for a while but then I have to step up to the next thing. I go in tomorrow so I will let you know what I think about it.

That sounds like an interesting form of treatment. I haven't had this done but would be interested to know how it goes.

What is the problem with your back, other than pain?

My doctor has decided to try radiofrequency ablation (RFA) on my back to help with the pain. Has anyone else had this done? What do you think about it? Thanks!
