I am proud of myself, because I am finally meeting and not exceeding my nutritional values. Carbs were always my down fall, but for 3 days, I have been doing great!

Good morning,in some places, all,
I'm proud of myself for being able to walk from a half a mile to one and a half miles overnight.
I got tired but who wouldn't? I just said to myself, "You can do it" and I did. I'm going to try and go even further today, stretch after walking ten minutes,I think, saved my legs from massive spasms. I used to get them until someone at Spark People told me about that little trick,Stretching five minutes into the walk. It works great too!

Yesterday I went to buy my first pair of brand new jeans. I thought a Misses size ten would fit they were a little too big. Ok so I thought a 9 would be good. They don't come in odd sizes so I tried on an 8 thinking it would be too tight. I was surprised that they fit me really nice. I don't think I'm actually proud of the fact I'm just surprised I went from a size 14 heading into the next larger size to a size 8.

That's very exciting! I would just suggest starting SLOW- slower than you think you need to- ie only 10 minutes at a time on the elliptical with no resistance and lots of stretching. After a week or so you can increase time a little, etc. That's how I worked up slowly (and frustratingly slowly at times!) but once I got up to 25 min I started increasing my resistance, etc. One other thing I want to share- one of the things I love about ellipticals is that you can move both forward and backward to cross train. I find that personally, my back gets MUCH more aggravated if I go backwards on the elliptical, so I limit it and do it at a much lower resistance (3-4) than I do my forward 'running' (7-9). I bet the therapy pool will be great to try as well! Keep us posted :)

My husband and I just joined a fitness center. It's the local recreation center in or city. I can't wait to try the elliptical and the therapy pool. I am going to take it easy on my back. Stronger me here I come. I will not let this bad back beat me. My core needs help. emoticon

This weekend, I met my goal of swimming the entire length of the pool with no spasm! Today I had aquatherapy and then came home and did a Wii yoga routine. Having a little bit of pain as a result, but nothing unbearable. This is the first time I have been able to do two fitness activities in one day. I'm starting to think I really can get past all the pain and have a more normal (and fit) life.

Yay for you! Hopefully the strengthening exercises work!

I'm on my third consecutive 20-mile week so I'm proud of myself (a little over 20 each week, actually!). And in my weekly total mileage challenge with my hubby, I'm winning 3-1 :D Can't beat that hehehe.

First, I want to say that I am so proud of all of you! I read through your posts and was so inspired. Sometimes we forget how big the "little things" really are.

I am proud of myself because I was able to swim for an entire hour today. Each time my back went into spasm I used the tricks my PT taught me, and I was able to continue swimming. My goal is to swim the length of the pool without spasm and I feel confident I will meet that goal by the end of the summer. I am also proud that I came home and made the usual fattening lunch for my skinny hubby, but I had a wonderful bowl of seasoned zucchini, fresh tomatoes, and two graham crackers with a tiny bit of peanut butter.

emoticon Though the path to where I want to be may be slow and rough to travel, I know that it is well worth the effort that I put towards it. I would prefer to travel this journey much faster, I know that is just not meant to be. I am proud of me for hanging on, continuing this journey that at times does seem quite impossible. I know I will reach my goals, I may take more time than a companion and that is fine. I know I am doing the very best I can possibly be doing with what is available to me.

I walked a quarter mile, for the first time in a long time, without needing my cane. I took it with me, just in case I needed it for the hills. But I kept it in my pocket. It's a fold down cane and can fit in any large pocket. John/ NY

I have not done much but I have managed to do three short errands today. I dropped my sisters little one off at day care, got myself to physiotherapy and managed to get to the bank.
I am thinking it might have been one too many things for the day as I am now back on pain medications and bed rest trying to get the pain to go away. Nothing like feeling the swelling build up. But even with the pain it is the most I have done all by myself since my injury :) I am proud that I did something on my own.

I'm Proud of myself for making it back to SparkPeople after undergoing my spinal fusion and laminectomy in Feb 2011, and still pushing forward to get this weight off. :-) I'm also proud that although I have been in pain today, I still managed to get a good walk in. Thank You Father God. He gives me the strength to do such things. :-)

Made it to Mass. and back. It was great to see my son and his wife. Took my anti-inflamitories and was pretty sleepy most of the way, but made the 22 hour drive( we stayed overnight once) without more pain.

Did more this time while we were there. Afraid to say it, but I may be finally healing. emoticon

I had to go to the dentist yesterday. Was really worried about sitting in that chair. I am suppose to sit upright with my feet on the floor. I think I was more worried about my leg starting to hurt again than being at the dentist.

I am glad that I have decided to have the Spinal Cord Stimulator
implanted in my spine. First, I have to go through a trial version,
and the device & leads are on the outside of my body for 8-12
days, to see if it helps. Then you go into the hospital to have it
implanted, if it has helped. I sure am praying that it will work.
From what I know about it, it is kind of like a tens unit. I have
never used a tens unit. I have my first appointment with the
doctor on Monday.

"I lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth."

I managed to sleep eight hours three days in a row without cervical or any pain to my back.
I know what did it for me, I used my TENS unit at night just before bed, it worked great on quieting my nerves to my neck and back. I hope this may help others to sleep well at night.
John

I am proud of myself because I have finished three weeks and instead of wanting to throw in the towel I am energized and looking forward. I am now up to 45 minute sessions for Chair Marching exercise and feeling rejuvenated. Thanks Sparks

I am proud of myself because I've been working out and pushing myself. Plus I have done most of my strength training (rest tomorrow). I've also been staying within the right number of calories.

After just three days of using the TENS unit. I feel great. Only my shoulder is hurting badly now. I have the TENS unit there now. I'll know by this afternoon
weather or not it will work there.

I am proud of myself because I have lost 24.6 pounds since I joined Weight Watchers 9 weeks ago. Going to meetings and getting weekly incentives really helped me. In total I have lost 28 pounds since this summer.

My pain level has decreased. My energy is way up. My blood pressure is lower than it has been in years.

Once I bought my new foam mattress,My back hasn't been painful, well not as much pain that is. And I sleep like a tired baby too, while on or in it, lol.
(If I wrote that I slept like a baby, they awake several times a night,so I put down a "Tired Baby") I just go for the middle of the bed and I don't remember hitting the pillow,I'm out like a light.
John
PS, the only pain that I'm dealing with is the high
hamstring pull. I have no idea how to get rid of it. I tried the ice, I've tried the heat. I've even tried stretching, what a bad idea THAT was, lol.
I'll continue the moist heat until it loosens up .
John

Of course I am proud of myself. Although things go slow for me because of my limitations (being in a wheelchair I cannot run or do a lot of exercises the way most people do) I am still trying to stay healthy and doing the exercises the way I can and eating properly.

I am proud that I ran a mile race yesterday. I actually ran the whole thing, I didn't walk any of it! That's a major accomplishment considering I've had 2 foot surgeries in the past 7 months and only started a little running in early July.
