Sorry I have been MIA, but just so busy with Baby Showers, Reveal the Sex party this weekend, and my Daughter in Laws Mothers' BD this Sunday,

Pat, that will be an adjustment, but truthfully I wish I had a 2-3 room apt. This house is getting to much for me, and expensive to keep up. I just don't have time much fr computer, and with back problems it is hard. Geo. Jr. does what he can do, but he owns his own business, and very, very busy. Pop in when you can. I wonder about you all, and say every day I am going to post, and then something comes up. I am not even dressed yet. Feel lazy today.

Update on DH and me .We will be leaving Our lovely 3 bedroom home here in Central Texas .And moving to a 2 room addition on DD and husband's newly renovated 🏠 farm house soon. I celebrated my my DD's birthday yesterday by taking her to lunch yesterday at her favorite restaurant. Among her gifts was a coffee mug, "I don't need to Google, my Mother knows everything!" (That may not be the EXACT quote, but you get the idea.) Afterward, we went back to her home to play with her sweet Golden girl, Piper.

Good Morning! Met my new eye doc yesterday, and am SO BLESSED to find him! Very kind. Very patient. He took extra time to investigate my vertical double vision problem and is hopeful this new prescription will having me seeing one image again.

Hi Reem, Marsha , Roberta and all!
Yes we are still in Texas and now its blubonnet blooming time. In some areas there are full fields of blue to feast our eyes on. So lovely! We even have a few in our front yard.
Our latest update here is that we are anticipating moving out to the newly- being renovated now-farm house at the farm that DD and hubby have purchased.
It is fun driving out there daily to see the progress on our wing of the house. The many new .
Paneled windows being installed will give us a great view of the country side.
DD and husband are already there living in a motor home and monitoring the many changes to the house. Already it looks like a new house but much to be done yet. We may not get out there til very late spring.
Enough about us!

Hope Roberta's problems are all behind her too. And all her " ducts"-----no "locks" are in order!!
It is Sunny and up to 80's here in central Texas!
DH spent time yesterday digging out occasional dandelions in our lawn. Our Bluebonnets are starting to show up in the front lawn! They are a gorgeous site in central Texas in the spring!
Our roses are in bloom at front of house.Red on one end of porch and pink on the other. The roses we have planted in other areas of yard are not blooming yet. We will have to start all over again with my favorite blooming bush when we move to farm later this spring. Will keep you posted emoticon

Yesterday was one of those special days when everything fell into place!!! Nights may still be below freezing, but the sun is shining. My car has a new battery and all is well. The AAA guy took all my donations to the Veterans Store. The security camera goes back to Best Buy today and the accessories go back to Amazon! My new neighbor and her adorable little dog dropped in last evening. And my energy is back. Happy day. Lovely Day. That ton of stress has gone.

There are signs of Spring here in UK , I have a lady gardener who rests over the winter but cintacted me now to ask can she come to prune my apple trees this week before they start coming back to life. Yes of course , I was told where this road of houses now is was an orchard years ago. As new homes were built the builders left a few apple trees at the back of each property where it was possible I like to think of it all being fruit trees at one time
There's remains of an old windmill I am told at the top of the road which is called Mill Lane, again I like to think of farmers bringing their grain up the steep hill to the windmill to be ground, it's the highest point in the village . There's a lot of history on the area,

Woke up this morning to see all the snow gone, grass and some plants dead! Is it possible for grass to survive? We will know before April. It is a wonder anything survived the winter.

Management had planted an evergreen tree right in front of my patio and a few feet away. Don't know whether it was to give me some privacy or prevent human traffic from trying to enter or leave my apartment through that door. There is no walkway to the sidewalk. Whatever their reasoning, it did not work.

Talk about spending too much time on the computer, there were 36 messages from Spark teams today so far, plus two from other senders, and I read them, and replied to most of them. And those are from friends on five teams. I sent five email to family and friends. Plus notes to teammates on the Fitbit Daily Goal Challenge. I am not complaining, but becoming aware of how much time I spend on the computer--a LOT! I enjoy the computer and keeping in contact with my friends. I did not tally how often I search or order online, or how much time reading the news, etc. The computer is a welcome lifeline to the entire outside world.
Love it! Love it!

UPDATE: There were 43 email messages yesterday!

Good Morning, everyone. The installation of my security camera that has been taking up so much of my time is almost finished. The Micro SD card is here and I will need to contact customer service to help with that. I have never had to have help in setting up any of my electronics before! This one was incredibly complex and complicated. I thought all its features would have been ready to go out of the box! But NO! Those had to be set up and activated! That is where it was so time consuming to contact customer service.

There have been three strangers at my patio door--two during the day and one and his dog at night (tracks in the snow)! The new peephole at my front door is a blessing, so I can see who is there. Lots of scary strangers selling something or collecting signatures. It is unsettling how we have to protect ourselves these days. Older adults who live alone are especially targeted.

Lots to do today--call AAA to start up my car, and maybe have to tow it to the garage. Then when it is drivable, do errands. Grateful that our three-month deep freeze is over.

Sorry not been around recently, I am still here , January was a bad month . Anniversary of Maurice's death then funeral. I was also suffering from a bronchial problem, unfortunatly that carried on into Feb, It is getting better but left me with such lethargy , everything wears me out. But I am still here and hoping to get moving soon,

Tea and coffee in moderation are good beverages because they are plant-based. I watched a video on tea in China--the different kinds and how they honor tea by the way they prepare it, serve it, and enjoy it.

I keep moving every day so I can keep moving. I have not purged processed foods from my fridge or pantry--yet! But I keep working toward that goal--bringing in more fruits and veggies. Checking food labels.

Pat, I have been cooped up here since the first of November, and now we are into February! That is November, December, and January being confined to home due to deep freeze weather! Sub-Zero temps! We had three days of 40 deg, and I did make it to the trash bins and mailbox. No wonder I am ditzy!

BUT things are looking up as weather forecasts are for above-freezing soon. I am looking forward to walking outside in the sunshine every day. Exercising in-house is OK for a while, but not for three months! I don't know what condition my car is in since it has not been driven since October!

I am tired of the weather. I am tired of the chaos in Washington. I am tired of being FAT, and I am too tired to do anything about it! I am tired of waiting for Amazon to ship the router, SD card, and surge protector for my security camera! This won't last forever--it just seems like it!

This is the end of chronic fatigue! I am determined to do something about it!

I feel like I am running in place and not making any progress. Too lethargic to exercise or do housework. It may be "cabin fever" due to this deep freeze we have been in since November. February is historically a warmer month than January. Maybe when my car is thawed out and I can get out and about on errands, that will be a good thing.

I have weights I am not using, all kinds of books on nutrition and exercise, and nothing is working. The fat on my body isn't budging! I don't enjoy cooking, so am eating lots of processed foods. BAD! BAD!

At 11:07 a.m., it is 28 deg on my patio, and the sidewalk is dusted with new fallen snow. . Should I risk a slip and fall to take my rent check to the office or call for someone to pick it up? Will wait a couple of hours to decide. I am not the only one complaining about this weather--even the natives are! Worst winter they can remember! I hope it comes just once every 50 years!

Hey Roberta-that is great news that you now have a security camera! Everyone needs to know who is at the door these days!!
We have a 6 foot tall grandson living with us which gives us extra peace of mind:)

And hello team! I am following Spark menu plans pretty closely. The Great thing about them is that if you don't happen to have what is suggested-you just click on it-and a whole list of equvilant substitutions pop up so your chances are good you may have it on hand!! It is helping me keep within 1200 calories daily without sacrificing required protein and fiber!!

My current weight is 159 pounds and my goal is to reach 145-
by tracking my Nutrition and also steps with 3DFITBUD I may make it yet!:) So glad Marsha has one too! Glad too that Ree is exercising and a warm hello to SarahKahn too! Remember--" The more we move the longer we can!!!"

I made up some Quinoa patties for sandwiches for lunch today. DH said they were as good as his former Burgers! :) ( by the time he had added all the fixins-tomato, onions and relish to a whole wheat bun-he says -pretty similar:)

Cleaning lady just left and we are sqeaky clean again!! Yay-She got here in time to do up the mound of cooking dishes :)!

So glad to hear from all of you! You are my inspiration! Please keep me posted.

The new, eye-level peephole was installed in my front door last week, which eases my sense of vulnerability here on the first floor. My front door seems to be an open invitation to solicitors, and other strangers. Police started patrolling here at night.

The little security camera is sitting on the front windowsill waiting for its router, SD card, and surge protector--due this week. Will record those who come up onto my front patio uninvited. There is no cement walkway from the sidewalk to my patio, yet people walk across the snow (leaving tracks) to come onto my patio. One came up with his dog during the night leaving snow prints on the patio! One came up during the day, stared at the door for about six seconds, turned to look at everything on the patio, then left through the gravel flower bed! Weird!

Roberta please be careful. It is a cloudy day here. Was sprinkling earlier, now getting colder. Didn't get to church this morning. Been tracking my food so I can prove Wed that I did write what I ate all week.

Pat I checked the pedometer you ordered and ordered one. Got it already and really like it. Alll I care about is steps so this is perfect. Thanks for sharing. I didn't like it around my. Neck so just keep it in my pocket. Seems pretty accurate.

Good morning, dear friends. At 6:26 a.m., it is 14 deg! We have been in a deep freeze and snow/ice-bound here since the first of November. There are huge piles of snow that have accumulated. The last time my car was driven was in October, and here it is almost February! We had three days when the thermometer hit 40, and I was able to get out and walk carefully to the trash bins and mail boxes. The snow and ice started melting making walking more challenging. The cleats I ordered are still in the mailbox, and I need cleats to get to the mailbox!

Oh, well, it will not last forever--just seems like it. emoticon Roberta

Pat, I can't begin to tell you how much it means to me to see you posting. Glad that everything is ok with you and DH. That will be nice to be close in a new house. You are such an inspiration to all of us. I wish I had half of your energy, but with this osteo it is hard to get around. I am using a cane most of the time, and all the time if I go out anywhere. My balance isn't good.

I started back to TOPS last Wed. and hoping that will inspire me to lose some weight.

Post when you can, and keep letting us know you and DH are doing good.

Did not get in my 10,000 steps yesterday, as I made three calls to Apple techs to find the cause of problems and then clean my laptop. Been signing in again with all my Favorites and Settings. All is well this morning. Back on track.

It is 12 deg right now at 3:30 a.m. That noise you hear is my teeth chattering! High today to be 22. I am going to put on my snow boots and bundle up to make my way to the mail box and trash bins. My little utility cart will give me some stability. Temps next week to get into the minus figures at night. The coldest here while visiting one Christmas morning was (minus) -25 deg! Snow is piling up because it has not melted in several weeks. Most people here have four wheel drive vehicles that can go anywhere any time. These hardy souls are going about their business in spite of road conditions. There is enough food in freezer and pantry to last 2-3 weeks! I am happy and content to be retired.

It is 10 degrees at 8:11 a.m. The One is charging and I am on my first mug of coffee. I am ashamed to admit that I am not following the Low Carb protocol! Had six oatmeal/raisin cookies and two pieces of pumpkin pie yesterday. This morning I have a significant bellyache!!!! Will that be a good lesson? Probably not. It was so good going down! The scale was up again this morning, too. Really, one would think I would learn not to indulge in those goodies, but my taste buds forget or ignore! Well the rest of the temptations will be tossed out today! Out of sight, out of mind? No, they may be gone but not forgotten. I need a temptation intervention!

The sleep TO-DOs are sinking in--sleep last night: 7:35 hrs. I am not too old to retain the new in memory, it just takes longer with more repetitions!

I am OK, mixed feelings on Christmas this year , my first one since Maurice died. But the family are rallying round .
A grandson returned home yesterday firm a years mission for their church, so there's celebrations planned for Jacob being home .

At 7:57 am, it was 3 deg. My car has not been moved for weeks, so the battery is probably dead and radiator frozen tight! There is absolutely nothing I could have done to prevent that. The rental garages here are not heated, but do give some protection from dust and hail. These carports don't do much to protect the cars, but I should be grateful for them. Oh to live in a house with lots of room and an attached garage! Oh, well, that is a dream.

I am grateful for this warm apartment, a great management staff, and delivery services.

Did not make it out to do errands yesterday, as UPS delivery did not arrive until 7:50 pm! New snow storm due today with frigid temps. The Pineapple Express is out and the Polar (?) Vortex is coming!

I had planned to start Christmas TO-DOs earlier than usual this year, then the icy weather came in and I do not drive on icy streets. People here all have 4-wheel drives and get around in all kinds of weather. My little car has only front wheel drive. It is 13.5 years old with only 21,000 miles, so I am not about to trade it in! With Albertsons and Amazon deliveries, I am safe and well fed--no need to take chances. My DD and I may celebrate the holidays next Spring!

I did get out three times yesterday, and snow boots and my little utility cart kept me upright to walk to the mail box and trash bins.

Winter moved in suddenly with frigid temperatures several weeks ago, but we have a respit day tomorrow to be above freezing so I can make it out on an errand before the vortex hits again on Friday!

It is a blessing that one store here will deliver groceries, and other supplies can be ordered from Amazon, BUT I need to go to my nearby Walmart tomorrow. I stay home when the streets are icy.

Hello Sairah Nice to meet you and hear of your daily life, I am English living near Nottingham.
I have had a bad year . My husband died in January. I was diagnosed with cancer in March and had surgery in April. It's been a long road to recovery. One of my sons lives with me part time. I can get out and do things locally. I hope to go for a slow walk today. I haven't been out for a few days as had a bronchial infection.
It's autumn here dark mornings and evenings with cooler days,

This group seems to be a bit quiet...hope all is well with dear Pat and her DH.

Ree hope you rested well and are doing better, will be great to get back to your exercise regimen.

Roberta, interesting to read about the cars and transport, well in Lucknow, India, where I come from we have all types of vehicles from the SUVs and cars to 3 wherlers (we call them Rickshaws) and some 3 wheelers are hand pulled or cycled. In the old city to manoeuvre the narrow roads, most people prefer the cycle rickshaws - also 100% pollution free. However with advancing age, it is a challenge to get into one and out of it. I need to be helped by 2 people to get-in and out when I go to the old quarters of the city.

Right now I am in Delhi spending time with my younger daughter's family. Will be back home on the 20th of October...

Hard to believe another month has gone. October now , looking back over Sept it was ok, I gave myself a new start. The doctir wanted my blood pressure to come down and weight, , The month ended with my on a rest weekend as I have a bronchial infection so can't get going in October exercise plan etc. But I lost 6lb.5 pounds last month and my BP is coming down so the doctor is happy. I will be once I feel better . Hooe yiu are all well . Ree

Good Morning, everyone!

I don't know where I posted that my cell phone provider gave me a new phone, but the new phone is an improved version of the one I had--not a smart phone. Delighted with that because it fits perfectly into my pocket and not an entire new software. I am still learning my way around but it is not too bad--just don't know why they made it so cumbersome to send photos! It is easier, though, to go to speaker phone. Customer service is good. I am happy with the whole thing.

The scale is going in the right direction by ounces! That is a good thing in that my skin will have a chance to keep up. Our weather is going back and forth from Fall to Summer--90 yesterday. The flowers are doing well. I cleaned up my exercise bike on the patio and acquired a cover for it, but have not used it yet. I really need to get back to weight training as my weight and BMI are going down, my body fat percentage is rising and skeleton muscle percentage is going down!

I watched a show on Frontline, The Choice 2016, and it helped me make my voting decision. I can relax now. emoticon

I stopped wearing my Fitbit on my wrist at night and clipped it onto my PJ waistband. Sleep has been improving--last night was 8:09 hours, not the usual 4! Plus, I had a protein drink before bed and put essential oil of Lavender on the palms of my hands. (Learned the latter from a very pregnant lady at the clinic! I had called about something else and we had a lovely chat.)

Good Morning, Sairah. It was so good to see your post this morning! I do enjoy hearing about your interesting family.

Yes, 90 next month, and grateful for feeling good. I am stocking up for a rugged winter here in this high desert atmosphere--for days when I cannot get to the store because of ice or snow. Most autos here are SUVs, Jeeps, and four-wheel drives. So different from where I lived for 50 years near the Coast.

I hope you and yours are doing well and enjoying each day.

Roberta you are an inspiration....90 next month did you say? Wow would love to be as healthy as you my friend when I reach the milestone in 9 years.... no meds thats even better. Right now I take a pill for cholestrol, 1 for diabetes and then a pain killer every now and then for crazy knees.

I am trying a new approach to my insomnia and chronic fatigue. Was focused on sleep as causing my chronic fatigue, but heard about this new approach on "The Doctors" and bought the Kindle version: "The Fatigue Solution," Cwynar M.D. Her approach is through nutrition, exercise, and stress reduction. She recommends the following steps:

1. Feed Your Energy Furnace
2. Get Your Gut in Shape
3. Improve Your Sleep Habits
4. Supercharge Your Sexuality (ignoring this one)
5. Move Your Body and Boost Your Metabolism
6. Check Your Thyroid
7. Prepare Yourself for “That Time of the Month” (ignoring this one, too)
8. Have Yourself Tested (maybe)

Here’s to my improved health. We are never too old to improve ourselves. There is a cute Kindle book by Michael Pallon: "Food Rules."

It's so good to be positive and enjoy life's blessings, I enjoy this season of cooling down and preparing for winter , making decisions too,
This year has been eventful, I lost my husband, I was diagnosed with cancer, I had surgery,
I recovered and took up my life. I think I over reacted and took on too much. Now I am sorting out what I enjoy and what I do not. . I have to accept I can't do all I want to do now . Ree

Life is good.
I am so blessed and grateful.
My 90th birthday is next month, and I am healthy, on no meds, and enjoying life.
My daughter lives close by and we get together for lunch almost weekly.
And I was just exempt from jury duty! emoticon

I am getting ready for an Idaho winter--storing food and supplies for days when driving to the store is impossible, or power outages, etc. Fortunately, lots of places here deliver and that is a blessing as long as they are mobile.

It was chilly this morning, so turned on the heat for about three minutes to take off the chill. I am padding around in fleece and thick socks. The geraniums are still blooming and the poor fuchsias are trying to bloom. I suspect the hummers have flown South, but will put out one more fresh feeder today.

Rain has danced all around us, but not on us in months! I miss Seattle weather--my skin certainly does.

So grateful to Dr. Phil for putting the JonBenet murder family rumors and accusations to rest. The local police department made a lot of mistakes. I hope the one who killed her is caught and justice prevails.

Sleep is so important to us I wish you well on searching for the answer. I was away over the weekend staying in a hotel comfy bed yet I just couldn't sleep , I think it's the mind not the body spoils our sleep. I do have daytime naps. Just a few mins refreshes me.

Been going through insomnia big time and am very sleep deprived. A few weeks ago I had an episode of sleep walking during the day! I was scared and embarassed, and afraid to drive my car. Then last evening, I had an episode of ophthalmic migraine and another one today at Noon! Add to that muscle spasms in neck, and sinus and head pain when I cough! My DD will take me to Walmart tomorrow for food and supplies. I have tried all the protocols for sleep and these migraines. I stopped taking my nutritional supplements several weeks ago, and that could be the cause. Restarted taking them today.
Other than that, I am fine. emoticon

Sleep can be elusive ,I have never been a good sleeper , I don't fight it now,if I am wide awake I read or play Solitare , yes the next day is sombie like, but I do take naps. I know there are mixed feelings on naps but brief five or ten minutes works for me. We must listen to our bodies now. Ree

This morning, I made up a list of Cognitive Behavior Therapy actions to help me sleep. These actions start with my bedtime routine tonight and all day tomorrow. There is a CBT clinic at a local hospital, but I wanted to try these at home, since I had the classes at Mayo in 2014. Mayo gave me a lot of DVDs and CDs. I acquired Classical Stretch (the Esmond Technique) DVD by Miranda Esmond-White and Tai Chi-Qigong For Walking, Balance & Strength DVD by Anna York. Now, if I can just remember to take time out to do them. My sprinting-in-place reminds me of the Prairie Chicken dance.

Hello. I think we are learning to listen to our bodies more now. When we are young we do what suits our families and life style,
After my cancer surgery I took a look at my life and what I want to do. I tried to carry on as before but I can't . The loss of my dh then cancer surgery weeks later took toll of me.
We don't have to always do the same things. I now don't want meat at all, but love fish . I prefer to eat small meals more frequently rather than three meals a day,
I now break large tasks down into smaller ones and concentrate on one part at a time.
Many things are having to be adjusted and accepted . Life does change and we have to accept that, That's my sermon for the day! Ree

I read Wheat Belly early on and rarely have bread now. I avoid aluminum in cooking, in sunscreens, deodorants, and vaccines. Period! Sugar is a huge nutrition no-no. Honey is very nutritious and beneficial in that it is recognized now to have antibiotic properties. It is an immune booster. Sticking to grass- fed, going organic and lots of veggies is the best route to good health.

Hi Roberta and Ree, and others reading this post. DH and I have remarkably good health for being 90 and 92. Even though I have incontinence, and probably up 3 times a night to use BR, I do go right back to sleep and wake feeling fine. We follow a mainly vegetarian diet ,sometimes chicken and fish, with lots of nuts and seeds. And lots of eggs!,Staying away from wheat but using Gluten free kinds of breads . You might want to read "Wheat Belly' its an eye opener. Never too late to learn something new I say to myself!
Our doctors say-what ever you are doing keep it up:)

A question on another team this week was what was Sparks lacking and what would your suggest how it could improve? Overwhelmingly the answer was more for older people. Most ithe exercises are beyond us. One person said most sparks recipes have too much sodium in to suit us. We are a minority I am sure in Sparks but do you think we are a neglected minority? Ree

Sleep deprived again. Slept 18 minutes last night! Went back to bed for a while, but no sleep. Just rested a little and that helped. Gotta get back to anti-insomnia routine, if I can remember what that was. emoticon

Good morning ladies !
Hi Ree--Just wanted to add that my doctor recommended a daily use of a product called
Citrucel for me for similar symptoms. Works like a charm. It is a a mild fiber laxative
Also to incude fiber foods daily which I try to do also.

Hi Roberta too--i haven't come on to my step counter-it may be in Texas.
Counting or not-I am purposely walking more each day.

We had a very enjoyabe weekend. Old friends from back home came to visit. They are both in their early 90's as well! We so appreciate their son and wife for bringingthem over!
