Pat, so good to see you posting again, yes it could have been worse if it hit the house. Insurance company hasn't got back to me yet, now it will be Tues. I know I am not the only one with a total loss. Just have to think "no news is good news". once I know what they will pay me then have to look for a car. Geo. Jr. has been looking around.

Have a great long weekend.
Nothing special here, I am just going to rest. (I hope. :)

Hi team friends,
Glad that Roberta enjoyed Mayo experience so much. My ! , hospitals have sure changed for the better over the years! I know I was treated royally too and felt like I was staying at the"Hilton" :)

Oh, Mani, I read your back posts and so sorry your DH gave you a scare.
But glad he is doing better now! I hope your "kids" :) enjoy their visit to the states. And your DS gets a good report from Mayo.

LOIS, book club or not , I would not be reading a depressing book. Not good for your psyche ! :)

Marsha--I feel so bad about your storm experience and losing your car! I hope
You were able to get through to the insurance company eventually! And I know
you will miss the shade from your tree also. But the tree could have fallen on your house which would have even worse!

REE, great that you got to be with your friend ! And that your DS is taking over your financial
Responsibilities. What a relief! You have enough to take care of.

Thank you all for your kind messages . I am doing fine. Advised to take it slow and easy and am doing just that. Besides my caretaker DD, other DD'S are helping her out as much as they can. Another DD arrives from COLORADO tomorrow.

Thank goodness, Ex rays show DH didn't have a stress fracture from his overdoing it last week but does have a shin splint . That too seems better.

Hugs, Pat

Thank God for our blessings!

Good Morning on a bright and sunny Friday....

Just hope the weather remains this way....things definitely are slowly creeping back to normalcy. DH's cough has almost gone...no wheezing PTL, my DD & DSIL have reached London safely and have overcome their jet lags and are doing well....had a long chat with them on Skype last night. Our DS & DDIL leave for the US on Sunday night...they will be gone 8 weeks and be back by the end of October. They will be visiting Minnesota as DS has his heart check-up follow up to his open heart surgery 4 years ago at Mayo and then DDIL's nephew is getting married on Sept 24th in Chicago and DDIL is the eldest in the family, it is her youngest brother's son. No more Ultra Sound treatment for me for the next 3 months....just traction for 2 hours once a week....
So today for me is an overcome with relief day and do absolutely nothing morning....yes will have my Bible Study in the evening.

Marsha always a great mood lifter,,,,getting your hair done. I love to have someone dry my hair for me too....

Lois you do read a heluva lot.... I used to but not any more, the eyes give up beyond 10 to 12 pages, have to put is away and then start again.

Have a blessed Friday

Hugs, Prayers & Blessings

Today has been another low key day. Cloudy, cool and low humidity which makes for a slow moving day for me. Started to weed out papers and hard to believe all that I keep saving. Finished my Daniel Silva book and started on the next book for book club - The Sandcastle Girls. It is a rather depressing book and not sure who choose it because it is about Armenian genocide. It supposedly fiction, but sure there is more truth in it than fiction. When we have one of these books, it is always a challenge as to rather I want to read it. But I do read it because I can be part of the discussion and know how the others felt.

Signing off for the evening!

Such good mews from Pat re surgery. There are amazing ladies on this team, you are inspiring me.
I met my friend Jane yesterday and we had a good talk and laughs,. I was pleased as she asked me to keep sending her e mails as she looks forward to then when she is in isolation and they'd cheered her up, that pleased me.,I certainly will send her e mail .
It was a good day as I had a good talk with number 2 son who lives the nearest to us. He hadn't realised I was struggling with coping with looking after the financial side , not lack of money but dealing with officialdom and form filling he's offered to take over that for me. Of yes please , it's a weight off my mind, I can concentrate on the caring now. Ree

Lois, no hurry, just take your time. I have been trying to get ahold of the insurance adjuster on my car claim, and to no avail. Only answering machines, no real people anymore to talk to.

I am headed to bed, it is soooo hot here, and I can't take the heat out that much. I take Ginger out, and rake, or sweep while she is messing around. :)

Hope everyone has a great night's rest. Would love to here more on Irene.

Good evening to all! I have read all the chats, but because I am trying to limit the amount of time on the computer I probably will not be responding to all.

Pat, so happy to read that you are doing so well. Baby steps is the answer - it took me a long time to realize that. Can you give me any info on Irene?

Marsha, I will send you the directions for the pocket prayer and also the book mark. Will take of that tomorrow.

I have a had a rather do nothing day, but did try to get some exercising in. Reading one of my favorite author's latest book "The Heist" by Daniel Silva. I have kind of lost my interest in mysteries, but his I like as well as anything by Lee Childs. I was always a Sanford and Patterson fan, but not so much lately.

Signing off for the night.

Hey dear team--I came home second day. DR was impressed with how well I did! He said he took it long and slow and very carefully- surgery lasted 31/2 hours. Said he attached every thing with a dissolvable mesh and stitches are dissolvable too. No stitches on the outside. Just 4 little holes covered with 4 band aides:) ! no polyps or suspicious growths. But I did have a twisted colon which may have contributed to my years of IBS.
Any way instead of predicted 3 days in hospital because of my age-he sent me home the second day:)
Thank you SPARKPEOPLE , and DR. FUHRMAN and DR McDougell!! Plus all my Spark friends- without you I would not have done so well!!!

Mani, I was thinking of Pat also. I pray someone will let us know. She is in my prayers.

It is HOT in sunny FL. I just came in from pulling some weeds, picking up tree branches, and raking some leaves. Brought the trash cans in. My garbage can was flattened when the tree fell. They are to bring me a new one. They don't pickup till Sat.

Have a good evening. Hugs and prayers coming to India.

Hello everyone....

Any news on Pat, hope she is doing well after her surgery....

Lois I agree with Marsha those little prayerbook pockets sound good.... but also like Marsha, don't knit too much as my arthritic fingers don't co-operate add to that the essential tremors. I end up dropping stitches and my DD or DDIL have to come and salvage the project for me.

Marsha hope all is well with you...

Have a lovely Tuesday

Lois, you are a busy lady. Are the bookmarks knitted? I would love the directions if not too much. Some of our ladies knit, I knit simple things, but crochet more.

I am getting ready to turn in. Kinda tired tonight.

Hope everyone has a good night's rest.

Had a very nice Tuesday and got a few of my to do's done. Have a new project for the knitting group at church. Along with the prayer shawls, and, baptism shawls we are now knitting small pocket prayer square with a knitted cross in the center of the. They were to go to the adults, but I came up with small little ones (pink, blue and pink) to be sent to when a new baby is born. When the committee saw them they also wanted a prayer book mark. Well I have finally figured it out and that is going to be added to items to make.

Going to catch the news and retire.

Good Afternoon everyone....

Well have been have a slightly trying time with DH as his cough has been acting up and the phlegm is increasing. We have put him on a 3 day course to get the phlegm out or his doc says he might need hospitalisation to get the water out of his lungs. He doesn't want to take chances with a 93 year old...as he thinks if not stemmed it might lead to pneumonia....well when he coughs he does get phlegm, he does ask for the spittoon to spit it our and at times ends up swallowing it back again....Last night, when his nurse was coaxing him to spit out the phlegm he even spat out his dentures...LoL... he was pretty restless the entire night with the cough and then puked at around 4:00 am...It was only phlegm that came out and only then did he get to sleep well. So I have been groggy too as I was up with him last night. I cancelled my morning Chiro appointment for the evening today.

Ree... please feel free to talk about you and yourself only as this is the best please to share our issues and we also get newer insights....isn't what this platform is for.

Lois so happy for you that you are back to volunteering...lucky girl. I'd love to go back to my church activity where I was teaching knitting and crochet to a group of young girls....but I am too dependent on my caregivers to be able to manage this on a weekly basis...and my health these days is so unstable that I can't commit. The fact that I make it to church every Sunday is a big thing for me.

Marsha hope you get the right car that fits you fine...what a nightmare to go through....

Praying for Pat....hope her surgery went well....

Gotta go, my nurse has come to help me out to head to the Chiro's place for my Ultra Sound treatment.

Hi on Tuesday, I was so glad to read Irene is doing well, she is a fighter and that helps I am sure, I always say I will go down fighting.
I hope you all are doing well in mind and body . You know my husband has
Alzheimer's , I have heard it said the patients are happy, it's carers who have the problem . I look at dh and he looks younger than he is he's contented and has no worries but I have
Mani you could be right it's stress causing my vertigo. It was a mild attack but I now have a stash of pills I can take if it starts again. I think stress causes a lot of my problems like insomnia, and heartburn .
Sorry I do find lately my mails are me, me me , I must start looking outwards more. A local friend has sent an e mail asking can I go to chat with get tomorrow? She is on chemo sessions but is home now resting before she goes back in hospital on Thursday for bone marrow treatment . She's ten years younger than I am , of course I will go and chat with her . It will make me look out of my own narrow world .
Have a good day friends ,
Ree

Marsha, what a bummer. Everything always has to be complicated.

Pat is in my thoughts today. Hope the surgery was successful and speedy recovery.

Today I finally was able to join with one of the volunteers groups that I serve with at my Church. Today there was 15 of us and I have really missed them. We assemble a Celebration (a bi-monthly publication from the church) and get is ready for mailing (950 copies). I am finally back to my every Friday morning to get the bulletins ready for Sunday service. There is only two of us on this project. Along with my goal to be able to drive was being able to get back to my volunteering. Being a social person, I missed many of my activities, and so happy to be back

Today was a very trying day. First the Tree Company came and got the tree all cut down. Sure won't miss the leaves, but will miss the shade. The the Insurance Appraiser came and check out the car, and it is totaled. I am just sick. Supposed to talk to the adjuster tomorrow to see what they are going to give me. Geo. wants to be in a conference call, or he wants to talk to her too. The appraiser said it is a same as it is such a clean car, good tires, and low milage, but he checked on the different parts of it and could only find one. So we will see what happens tomorrow. Supposed to go and get hair done, but had to cancel till Friday. Hate to start looking for a used car. I told Geo. I don't want all the bells and whistles, I just want wheels.

Oh tomorrow the one man from the tree company is to come and give me an estimate on cutting some long branches on the oak tree by the pool. Not looking forward to that news.

Sleep tight

Finally made it to church this morning. I have been watching the service on TV for several months and finally went this morning and hoped the roof would fall in. I volunteer at church during the week and then I can get into handicap parking. Sunday is a different story, but I lucked out today. The rest of day was quiet, hot, and humid so I just took it easy.

Pat, sending good vibes and prayers for you tomorrow. Sorry to read about Poochie. It is so hard to lose a pet, but when they are in pain and not functioning as they should - it is time.

Have a great week ahead!

Good Morning.....a new day & a new week....

Well yesterday was a busy day for mo & didn't get to post.
Went to church for an early service and we had a Brunch invite at my DD Sara's place. It was an advance celebration of our DSIL's 75th Birthday as they will not be here on the actual day, 5th September. Where does time fly, can't imagine our Son-in-law is 75...he & Sara have been married 52 years....God are we old or what.

DH & I got back home by 1:30, broke away early as the long morning was beginning to show on him and he needed his rest. Back at home both of us had a long afternoon nap and as the weather stayed good got a walk in the park and then my DGDIL Natasha drove me to visit with Mary. Happy to see she is doing much better, far more alert, but her DD tells me that she is still too weak to get out of bed so is still on a catheter.....

Lois your coffee group sounds fun.... glad you are able to manage getting there on your own...

Ree....hope the vertigo attack is not really nasty...do you have triggers like stress or physical strain that is causing it. My DD was in bed for almost a month courtesy the darn Vertigo and at one time needed to be escorted to the bathroom even....well she is better now but on doctor's advise has a walking stick by her side all the time.

Pat sorry about Poochie..... emoticon Good to hear that DH is occupied with yard work and has regained his strength doing the same. Good luck to you too Pat for today.... you will be in my thoughts & prayers till we here from you.

Marsha so happy that Donna and Geo are with you to lift up your spirits after the storm wreckage...the Chinese buffet sure sounds good and Ginger...hmm all nice & pampered.

Well also have sums great news on Irene's front, Marcy has just posted that Irene is doing much better, her back brace is off and is walking with a walker and will be posting on Spark soon....Praise the Lord.

Have a great week.

Hugs & Prayer to all

Just wanted to check in before I go and get comfy. Been a busy Sunday. I went to church, and Geo. and Donna wanted to take me out to lunch. We went to our favorite Chinese Buffet. Had a great meal, then came home and he mowed and she washed and groomed ginger. Ginger is so relaxed.

I will call the adjuster tomorrow on the car and see if she can tell me when she will be here. We had a hard rain tonight again, and a lot of wind. I can't wait to get this tree taken out. Also the one out back by the pool trimmed back.

Hugs and prayers going out to all.

Hello friends I went to bed as usual Sunday evening but had thingson my mind, I couldn't switch off so got up again for a while
It's been a week of fightng officialdom . By phone or filling in many forms , everything gets so comps, cited whether is tryng to transfer our own money from a to b , or me trying to get my free bus pass replaced as I lost it, i filled in an form to replace the bus pass plus 1o for costs,
Thenfirst thing I saw in the form was an instruction to enclose missing or damaged bus pass.. Words fail me , how do I enclose a missing bus pass, who designs these forms ?
Ithink it all got to me as then I had a bout vertigo I am on pills for it and it's not a bad attack but I do keep having setbacks ,
In should not be when with others it was serous storm damage to contend with , a beloved pet being to to sleep and hospital visits for those on the team ,
I had better try to get some sleep again a now, good night. Ree

Hi everyone-- Hope you had a nice Saturday and have even better Sunday !

This was my last day for solid meals. We think we have everything ready for my clear liquid meals tomorrow and know what and where and when we go off to hospital MON. Morning..

I tried to get a little walking in today and did a little weights as well.

DH and DSIL will return tomorrow from helping another DD with yard work and tree trimming.
By the looks of the pictures they sent they got a lot done.

I am feeling very sad tonight as DH and I have decided it is time to allow our vet to put POOCHIE to sleep. Not only is he suffering from senility, but he seems in pain and is now losing control of his bladder and bowels. And is also throwing up his meals.
He has an an appointment for Monday while I am gone to hospital.
When it rains it pours . He has given us so much pleasure for 15 plus years
And we have been blessed. Only other dog lovers know
How we feel.

Goodnight friends,
Pat

!

Choose wisely what we do with our bodies in the way of food choices and activity and we can be rewarded with good health
Thank God for our blessings!

Another cloudy and humid day! Coffee group day (if interested check out my photos) and today with eight plus two little ones. Today much joy and laughter plus we solved many of the world's problems. (To bad the world leaders don't check out with us). So happy that I can get there by myself, because I had to depend on others to pick me up if when I felt up to going. Even though I am the elder of the group, they keep me real

Good Evening friends.... it is a cloudy evening here...almost 5:00 just woke up from a nice long afternoon siesta, DH is still fast asleep. He still has a cough & is on Benadryl which is making him sleepy. I can here my Great-great-grand daughter Zara outside, guess she came and peeped in and saw us asleep and is out playing with her cousins Cyrus and Darius...she at 8 is the ring leader for the 2 boys who are 4 and 2.

Well need to go and have my tea and join the kiddos in their games.

The weather has been dreary and wet in the evening and terribly sunny and humid in the mornings here...sure shot way to catch the monsoon bug

Lois at least you can handle the a/c, both DH & I don't take to the a/C too well....DH starts wheezing and my arthritis flares up...we go by our ceiling fan. On real bad days would run the a/c for an hour and then let the fan take over.

Fay the new exercise room for sure will be good motivation to keep you active... I go with Pat, have turned vegetarian since last November after I started taking ayurvedic meds for my arthritis, diabetes, cholesterol, hypertension and yes weight loss. And it has worked well for me.
And Pat I am blessed that I don't even look into daily meal cooking... my DGDIL does that for us and even tracks my food for me on my Nutrition tracker...God Bless the Child...

Marsha once again really sorry for you...hope all issues get taken car off....sending you big emoticon

Have a lovely Saturday friends and my little great-great-grand daughter is all set for me to join her with her new Jig Saw puzzle...well that is our new Saturday evening pass time.

Hugs

Marsha, so sorry to read about the storm and your damage. Thank goodness you are okay, but that doesn't lessen the pain of the expense of your car or trees.

Pat, thanks for the update and sending good prayers and vibes for a successful surgery.

Turning for the night! Another very humid day, but did get the laundry done and changed the bedding. Kind of a challenge with the cane and/or the walker, but taking my time and it went just fine. The kids have been helping with this so really happy to get around to doing some of these things myself. Have a great and safe weekend

Not going to try to answer any messages, I posted pictures of what I went through this evening around 4-5 oclock. Hit this area bad. Geo. and Karen came over and he talked to the car insurance company, and I can pick up a rental car in the morning. My granddaughter will come and take me.
I have to have the tree cut down, and the sheriff came and stayed a couple hours until the county got here to cut the limbs that were on the street and blocking traffic. Very nice County Sheriffs.

Geo and Karen think that maybe my car will be totaled as the frame is bent, and the back window shattered.

I am thankful that Ginger and I are safe. A storm came through this area and downed trees all over. I am going to have to have this one cute down and it is not cheap. I have a larger on out by the pool, and will get an estimate on cutting it way back.

Hugs and prayers to all. My granddaughter is coming in the morning and taking me up to get a rental that the insurance company has made arrangements for me to pickup.

Hugs and prayers to all.

Hi FAY- Sounds like they feed you pretty well at your new place! That meal sounded great. You are not going to starve, that is for sure.

I would have eaten everything but the chicken. As DH and I are now eating vegetarian as much as possible. Not always possible with loving DD'S bringing in meals sometimes that have meat in them like, chili one night and chicken salad another. But caretaker DD whom we live with and our own cooking is strictly vegetarian. Following DR McDougell and DR. Furhman..

LOIS, your heat does sound miserable. Yes, thank goodness for air conditioning. We are indeed blessed. So nice to see you posting again. Missed you.
Oh, an update for you. Since you asked. I was diagnosed with a prolapse bowel-a month ago and am scheduled for surgery Monday. May not be posting much for a few days so sure hope
Our little team is kept alive while I am gone. .

REE, and Lois too/. I think your wonderful book Club would enjoy reading and then seeing the film called
"Rabbit Proof Fence". ( maybe you already have )
It is about Australia's aboriginal integration program of the 1930s! We enjoyed it so much we watched the film twice----not what happened to the children but the portrayal done by the children in this film!

I had the pleasure of enjoying tea and yogurt cups yesterday morning with Mani via our computers:):) thank you Mani and hope your poor sister can be made comfortable.

I am just returning from getting my blood work done for surgery Monday.we first went to family doctors office ad when we finally got called they couldn't the"banding" there so sent us to local hospital. Finally home after 3 hours or so.
We stopped at our favorite bakery and DD and I are about to enjoy breakfast.

Hugs to all, Pat

Hugs, Pat

Pat, saw that you are going to have surgery? I am so far behind so need to have your update.

We have had a pretty nice summer so far, but today I think it has changed. So hot and humid that you can hardly breath out side. So thankful that I have AC and worry about those that don't. Going to watch new and turn in and hopefully tomorrow will be a little cooler or less humidity. Night all!

Pat, That was an early appointment ! Do they start early so people can take a siesta in the afternoon? The new hairdo sounds attractive.

Our exercise room was opened only recently so orientations were scheduled during July and August. Comments I usually hear are, except for a few whose doctors have told not to wait, to wait for colder weather. Even this summer had only a few days uncomfortable with humidity.

That meal you asked about started with fresh fruit, rosemary chicken breast and spaghetti noodles lightly both topped lightly with a light sauce (gravy ?) broccoli and carrot which the refer to as German vegetables and dinner roll. I picked lemon meringue pie and coffee for dessert. Also did not eat but a bite of those obvious carbs. Still plenty to eat. And yes, the conversation was pretty lively.

Ree, I know you have and will have a lot of care for your DH. I pray for God to give you needed strength and patience. You are a gem

Good to see your health is improving,Marsha. Hope all of us are able to show all those younger Sparkers how to keep active and healthy.

Sorry you were having a trying day, REE!
What a great attitude to remember the saying- "we are never given more than we can handle !" Sometimes we all need to recall that one!

FAY, I am in the same boat at the health club we have attended in the past. I have to holler sometimes for adjusting the equipped mention. Good for you that you are getting all those orientations. Take advantage of everything you can!. Your other hobby is great too! Keep that brain sharp!

We were up at 600 this morning and DD took both DH and I to get much needed hair cuts. 7:15 was appointment time. I got what beautician called a Wispy Cut. Very cute and perky. Now Should look groomed for my surgery Monday. .
DH looks great too.
I hope to be able to go back in 3 weeks for a trim to keep it perky:) we will see how I feel .by then.

5:00 PM This afternoon I have my pre-op visit with family doctor. Will get blood work done too as hospital wants to know my blood type , etc.

I hope Mani, Marsha, Roberta, ELAINE, and LOIS are all doing Ok too. And that Irene is recovering nicely.

Back from my orientation on available exercise equipment. Adjusting the equipment after someone tall will take extra time until I figure out my settings. Now time to exercise my brain with my 5 newspaper puzzles. BBL

Thanks for thinking of me, I am ok . It was a bad morning but I am learning not to react and just walk away, calm on outside if boiling inside,
It's calmer now with dh reading and my catching up on so,e mail ,
Iam assured we are never given more than we can cope with, I am a sensible practical person so I cope, one thing at a time. Stay well we all need each other . Ree

how was your evening meal, Fay? Hope you enjoyed it! One of the best parts would be enjoying the company of the other folks!

This morning we made asparagus -basil soup from scratch for lunch.
Again, I read the recipe off to DH and step by step he put together a fantastic soup.
We got to use fresh basil from our planter on the deck.
Dinner we were treated again tonight with DD # 3-s wonderful cooking.
She brought us a beautiful chicken pasta salad served on bed of lettuce and sprinkled with pecans. She also had a fresh pan of cranberry and pecan muffins to go with it.

DSIL is here from Colorado and he spent
The afternoon edging our lawn. Edger borrowed from kind neighbor.

Still counting down the the days to surgery. Only 5 now!

DH is watching his favorite ball team play on TV so I will go get my shower.
We have to get up early for our haircut appointments starting at 7:15:)
I haven't been pampered in quite some time so hair looks pretty bad!
Want to look groomed for my surgery Monday.

Hugs and good nite to all.
Pat

Here's hoping the activities are not trending the same all year round as they have been since I am here. Last Saturday was a spaghetti fund raiser. I invited a DD, DGD, GDSL and 18 month old Evan to join me. That little guy really will have to be watched as he is already quite a flirt!

In about 20 minutes I'll be leaving for our evening meal. It is but a 5 minute walk for lucky me. After that is a business meeting...whatever that covers I do not know. But it is for all residents who get there. Even after Sunday's movie of God's Not Dead there were refreshments. I did not even check them out since another couple I know had brought one of the assisted living residents in her wheelchair and I wanted to see where her room was. The 4 of us are members of the same church.

Any food I've had is well prepared and generous amounts. I'd rather have a portion for my dessert but so far they have offered high calorie items. I certainly have not spent nearly enough calories for more indulging!

Dear FAY, I too am happy that you have found a peaceful place to live, that does not feel so isolated. ! And that they have so many things to make it easier for you if you need them . You can still maintain your independence! Peace of mind is of utmost importance.

And LOIS, it is great that you popped in here to give everyone an update . Yes, after all your surgeries, I agree with the DR:) you really are doing pretty D---- good!:)

It is great news from Mani that you are feeling much better today and got out with your precious son for the walk in the park! What a nice " ritual" indeed!
Please don't feel too patronized by the good Dr's ending remarks. He just hasn't lived the years yet to understand. When he says you are doing well for 86- he may mean -he has seen much worse-so I guess we can be grateful for that!

And last but not least-how great that REE had an enjoyable outing. I am sure you contributed well to the team quizzes .the important thing-you had fun! And nice that you DH enjoyed being thought of too.

I too am thinking of Marsha, Roberta, Irene, and ELAINE, and hope all is well.
Hugs, Pat

Thank you friends for your support and good wishes, I do appreciate it , I don't get on here every day but when I do I read all of what you are doing and take Interest even if I don't comment a lot,
Last evening I had time out, I went to a women's group of which I belong , it was a fun evening with a team quiz, I am not bad on general knowledge and helped out team win the first part, , the second part was all on wine. Well I do drink wine but have no idea on different typos of grapes and wine production, so over all we lost. But it was a fun relaxing evening just what I needed, there was food and I was given some to take home to my husband. He was so pleased they had thought of him.
Keep well friends we need each other , Ree

Hey everyone! I am getting overwhelmed with all the love and support from you all!
Thanks for the goodies and the kind messages.

Welcome back both LOIS and FAY! We appreciate hearing from you.
Both of you have suffered deeply and still are in many ways. We just want you to know that you are not alone. At least here we can share our problems and vent our frustrations.and like Mani- and LOIS- I get pretty much the same reactions from my wonderful doctors who seem amazed that I can still function at all at the ripe old age of 88! :)

We are here for each other.
Good night,
Pat

Good Morning....

Feeling much better today, was up at my usual 6:00 am so feeling good, my nurse has helped me get set for my morning walk with Jacob, our son. This has almost become a ritual where my son takes me for a walk outside every morning & also gives us some mother-son bonding time. He will be knocking at our door by 7.

Fay thank you for the update....so glad that you moved into to this Senior living place, it feels safer and the company will keep you happier and the activities fitter....Stay well dear friend.

Lois, good to know that you are managing to get all those health problems sorted out. Well I am busy taking care of my back too. I have a compression in my lower veterbrae and initially wasn't able to sit for more than half an hour without being in pain. Then went to a Chiro...and then to another and finally had to be flat in bed for a week with traction for 8 hours a day. I am now going for ultrasound treatment & adjustments every alternate day and traction for 2 hours a day on other days. And talking about your parting shot at the doctors....i too get tired of hearing this from my doctors..... Well Ammamma you are doing well for an 86 year old....that's what most doctors say...if it is in good humour it is fine but some say it so patronisingly, I'd like to smack their faces...try getting to 85 / 86 and you'd know what an effort it is...

Good afternoon to all! I am so far behind in keeping in touch with everyone and I do apologize to all. I do remember my sparks buddies everyday in my prayers. A special thank you to Pat for trying to reach me every now and then.

I have had my final appointment with neurosurgery and the back issue has been solved. Have been having a lot of problems with the right knee and saw my orthopedic doctor and I guess I am as good as I will get. He reviewed the x-rays and there is not change from several years ago. He feel that, because of all the other issues I was dealing with, I traumatized it and it will get better with time. He gave me credit for continuing to use the cane and/or walker when needed, because some of his patient will not and they end up falling. There is some arthritis in the hip, but nothing that he feels needs to be addressed now. All in all his comment was "After all the surgeries etc. and the fact you are 85 - I think you are doing pretty damn good!" How was that for ending my appointment.

Mani,
It sounds like you have had a very good day...as has your DH. Yes, I moved almost 2 months ago into this senior community at the independent level. I've bought my unit and am responsible for routine housekeeping chores, but they maintain outside and even my appliances. Activities most days including weekly transportation to a local grocery store. Since it is not my favorite chain, so far I have still been managing to drive to another one myself. Meals are available but except for entertaining my son and daughter-in-law to a Sunday dinner, have only eaten there on special occasions such as last Saturday's spaghetti fund raiser. Tomorrow is a supper followed by a meeting, I don't know how often they are scheduled but probably every other month.

After Bob's departure I had many episodes of sadness. I am sure that it would have continued like this if I had not moved. My former home was in a condo community where I felt very isolated. This residence is in a court arrangement where almost all seem like family. I can look out my kitchen window and see the front door areas of at least 7 of our court homes. And I am gradually getting into group activities and events so many more than ever before in my life. Of course, this will hold me back from being here.

Pat, I know I have not been consistent with reading messages and am not aware if you have made known the reason for your surgery, but I'm keeping you in my prayers as also Mani, Roberta, Ree Marsha and others whom I am forgetting at the moment. As all of you are doing, especially Irene.

Didn't do much today...gradually getting back to my normal PT sessions, but just that I need to have the lumbar belt on, it is a bit uncomfortable, but will get used to it. Then 2 hours of traction, then did about 8 rows of crochet on my DGGD's stole. Then a long siesta in the afternoon and then a good one hour stroll in the park with DH.... PTL hope everyday is like today. DH is also perfectly fine very peaceful and settled and his usual self.

Pat hope all is well with yours and your DH's health as you prepare for your surgery, next Monday...if I remember right.... and glad that all DDs are rallying around to take care of you. Hope your other 2 recover soon.

Marsha hope you are feeling better and the cough has subsided.

Fay, good to see you post...have you moved into to a new place....did I miss anything?

Any news on Irene?

Ree & Roberta hope you girls are doing well....

Have a great week...

Hugs & Prayers

A quick "Hello". I slept until 8 this morning. Unheard of for me!!!
Washer, dryer and dish washer Doing their thing. I'm only half way through the newspaper.

Pat, on Saturday and Sunday I used up my last 2 pieces of cinnamon raisin bread made as french toast. It was yummy! Now you have me putting the bread on my next grocery list so that I can add the nuts.

I have not been doing anything special these past months. Not yet completely moved in (things put away) but keeping busy, then needing extra rest. Last night they showed us the movie "God's Not Dead" Please, everyone , see this!!

Dear Mani--
I am happy your party went off well for DH -BD! With your large family it must have been quite a celebration indeed!
But what a fright you all had when he came up missing. Glad he hadn't wandered far.
Hope he recovers from the cough soon.
Congratulations to India on the 68th Independence day and to you and DH for being chosen to unfurl the flag! A great honor indeed! But couldn't happen to a more deserving couple!

I hope Marsha is getting over her cough! She is too active a lady to be cooped up too long!

Thinking of Roberta and pray for her fast recovery. If you read her Spark page she had an upsetting diagnosis at Mayo that I just found out about . Please give her all your support !!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend with family, REE! You certainly deserve it!!

I have not had another update on Irene but the last one from her friend Marcy sounded
Encouraging.

Another DD got our groceries today so we are all set for awhile. Both previously sick DD'S seem to be back feeling ok again. DH had a touch of what ailed them today but seems better tonight. But he is just eating lightly for now. My appetite is good as ever!

Good night everyone. It is bedtime here.
Hugs, Pat

Hello everyone....haven't posted on the team chat for some time.

Well Pat, the Birthday Party went off well....but the next morning DH gave us a scare. I woke up around 5 am and got our nurse to help me to the bathroom and back and promptly fell asleep & DH was fast asleep and our nurse told me that he had woken up just half an our earlier to go to the bathroom. So around 6, Mahesh thought both of us were asleep so went to his room to freshen up. When our DS Jacob popped in around 7 to check on us, he didn't see DH in bed, nor was he in the bathroom....they woke me up and the entire household was searching for him and he had wandered off, forgetfully outside and was fast asleep under one of the canopies in the chairs of the previous evening. When he was woken up he was completely disoriented and had to be carried in. Well the early morning chill has gotten to him and he now has a terrible cough.
Yesterday was the 68th Independence Day of India, and DH & I as the oldest couple in our church were given the honour of unfurling the tricolour.... felt really good.

Ree as I mentioned, I know what the Big A is...just a small example what we went thru' a couple of days ago.

Pat good to see that you are up and about as you ready your self for your surgery next Monday. Special prayers coming your way dear friend for a speedy recovery. Hope your DD's feel better soon to be able to get back to give you the attention both of you need. Pat we are indeed blessed that our children take such good care of us actually pamper us.

Marsha hope you cough leaves soon.

Have great Saturday

Dear REE, so sorry you are going through this and wish we can help in a small way. If posting here helps , we are thankful! Enjoy your weekend with your sons and especially if you get to see that new baby Great Grandson, Joseph! Congratulations on the anticipation of another new great grand baby's arrival in a January.

Hope you are feeling better Marsha and also that the weather improves enough for you to venture out. Have fun with caring for your "grand-dog" :). Dogs are such great company.
Even our 15 year old senile POOCHIE still gives us pleasure in a reverse sort of way. Now it is in seeing that he is as comfortable as possible with his obvious arthritis and tummy troubles too. Caring for him is one of our top priorities.

DD just made us another GORMET meal-WHOLEGRAIN, blueberry pancake with maple syrup. Not exactly low cal but we are not complaining. Will try to make up for it with our
Mcdougell meals for rest of day.

The sun is shining brightly here and DH is out gardening in some way or another again.
No cooking this morning. The fridge is full.

Thinking of Roberta, Irene, LOIS , Mani, all of whom have physical problems.
Hugs to you all, Pat

We often have Sunday lunch at another sons home and the new baby will be there so I get to meet our latest great grand child, there is already another great expected in January ,

Pat, I ended calling my beautician and cancel my appt this morning. The weather was too nasty for me to go out in it with this broncitis. I will go Tues. God Willing.

Geo. Jr. will be here tomorrow to bring Spade for a couple days. He will mow if not raining. Really been weird weather.

Know you will be glad to get your hair done, it will be a while after your surgery that you will be able to go.

Have a good night's rest.

Hugs and prayers to all.

Glad you got your Hair done, Marsha! I know how good it makes one feel. Mine has not been done for weeks now but made an appointment today for both me and DH. We both need a hair trim. The 21st of August will help us look better for my surgery on the 25th:)!

Caretaker daughter feels much better today but other DD who helps us all she can-is still sick.
So far DH and I have not got it. emoticon

We just watched a sad (but true ) story of the plight of the Aborigines children called "The Rabbit Fence. " Back in the 1930's .

DH is watching the a DETROIT Tigers play the Seattle Mariners. So thought I would do a little a Sparking here.

We had a very healthy lunch of leftovers from DH and my cooking the last few days but DD made us each a chocolate float for our snack. Hit the spot!

Thinking of making a tomato slice, red onion slice , lettuce and mayo sandwich plus ginger ale for dinner.
DH can eat that from his game watching chair!

I am trying to get in my hand weights and ankle and knee bends to keep blood circulating.
DD is quite the coach!! Keeps reminding me.

Thinking of Ree, Mani, Roberta, LOIS, Irene, too.
Let me know what is happening in your world.
Hugs, Pat

Pat no it isn't from my yard, wish it was. :) Just one I found on the internet. I have a birdhouse, but haven't had any birds check it out..... Might be in the wrong place. I feed the birds and squirrels with cut up cubes of bread and give them water in the bird bath. I have seen some cardinals this year also.

I am going to try and go to get hair done this morning, haven't been out of the house except to take Ginger out since last Sat. I hope I don't forget how to drive. I need to pick up a few things at the grocery store.

I guess the medication is what is making me tired. Still coughing up gunk. :(

Hope you DD's get better soon, you sure don't want to come down with anything before surgery. Know you will be glad to have it over and on the road to recovery.

Hugs and prayers to all.

Marsha, your new picture of the birdhouse and flower is adorable! Was that taken in your yard?
We have a similar one that I can watch from my breakfast table. It is so much fun to watch the family life that goes on there every summer! Now a cardinal is checking it out. A little small for her. :)

REE, you are doing great with your responsibilities! We love having you pop in when ever you can. Yes, we need each other!
Congratulations on becoming a GGMAMA! Joseph is a lucky little boy!

Our family- both our caretakers -DD's are having -one-headache and other stomach flu problems. These are the two daughters that are caring for Dh and my every need! DH and I are still ok. I hope To stay that way because of my soon to be surgery date. So far so good.

Receiving nice messages from peggyt3- she is so inspirational. I wish she would join in our chat page too.!

Thinking of Lois, Irene, and Roberta! Miss them . Praying they are getting better every day.

Hope all is well with Mani. Has she been back since DH party?

Hugs, Pat

Ree, we all have times when we can't check in, but when we do it is important. I know what you are going through with DH as I had to be a caregiver for him, the hardest job I have ever done, but no regrets at the end. Luckily I had handled all the bill paying so that was not a chore for me. Just take a deep breath, and come on here if you need to vent, as we are here for one another. Big hugs and prayers to you and DH.

A quick chat for now, I feel I don't do justice to my chatty supportive teams , I pop in as I can,
This week I had financial things to sort out. Not helped by my dh who used to deal with all this had now forgotten everything about it. , what a task I had paperwork galore to go through ,
Also had good news this week we now have a new great grand son. Joseph arrived on .13th August weighing in at over 10 pounds ! I haven't met him yet .
I hope you are all well. Ree

Pat, sounds like you and DH are a good team. How wonderful that you can work and do things together. Treasure every moment.

My cough is some better, but still have it, have 4 more days of medicine, If not better by Fri. going to call the doctor's office.

I have told them that I won't be at the Ladies Circle meeting tomorrow. Haven't been anywhere since Sat. just to take Ginger out.

Have a great evening.

That was wonderful REE, that your DH actually acknowledged with approval what you handled at the bank. Good for him!

How did your party go, Mani? How is your therapy going as well?

Are you getting storms, Marsha? That might keep you near home for the moment. Hope you are over your cough!

Thanks for the well wishes from CUSH! Very thoughtful of you.

Anyone have a update on Irene? I will try to find out and report back.

Where is Roberta these days? Hope all is well.

Just learned that our youngest grandchild, (a Jr this fall in college, ) had his four wisdom teeth removed this morning. DD is home caring for him. She says he is on a liquid diet for a few days:) She also said the oral surgeon who operated on him didn't look any older than him!!

DH and I did another morning of DR. McDougell cooking. DH assembled and cleaned veggies for me, and I , while seated , chopped and mixed, while he cooked at stove. We are quite a team! . Had it all for lunch along with California sweet grapes, whole grain crackers and I had lemon slices in hot water.
This morning we made a beautiful coleslaw , and "Firestone " potatoes, and steamed collards.
Pat

Oh congratulations Ree on taking care of your financial matters all by yourself. ! Yes, woman are amazing and you are helping prove it!
My DH and daughter just returned from a bank meeting. And then they went to ALDI'S and got my list of needed items for tomorrow's McDougell recipes . DD has been run so ragged taking care of both DH and I. That I told her I am going to go back to preparing meals with the help of DH.! So this morning I sat at table- and DH assembled everything I needed to chop and prepare the Global Bean Stew recipe. He then did all the cooking with my instructions-all very new to him-but he did fine. We worked all morning and had his delicious cooking for lunch! :):):)
And now again for dinner along with other things :)

Thinking of you, Marsha. Get better soon!o

And Hi to Mani too. Tell us all about the celebration. We know you both are tired tonight.

Mani you made em smile at the thoughts of two of you chewing in silence and your dh thinking you were talking .
My eldest son is 62 , he looks and acts old but always has, I think he was born old,
You all know my husband has the big A , as is known , he's always done out financial matters but now can't. Out second son helps me but he has a lot on his plate at the moment to deal with. I had an urgent financial matter to deal with. So yesterday I went to the bank, I am not used to dealing with money matters . I knew what had to he said and did so and I received to help and advice I needed. Dh went with me but just watched, laterhe told me i dealt without very well , in a business like way, I was surprised he had taken it in and plasesed he told me I had done well , I have done many things i didn't know I was capable of.

Thanks Mani, I think they had a great BD. They all went to Busch Gardens for the day, too hot for me, and I sure wasn't up to that.
Yes, it sure makes me feel old when I think of his age.:)

Have a great day, cloudy here.

Geo. Jr. and Judy have checked in with me this morning, the doctor's office also called saying my Doctor wondered how I was feeling. I thought that was thoughtfu.

Hi and good morning....

Marsha warm birthday wishes for Geo Jr.... I know funny isn't it before we can realise that we are old we see our children greying in front of us.... DH & I were pretty upset with our DD Sara's health too, due to a thyroid problem she had a severe attack of vertigo, has gained weight & her arthritis flared up, so she was using a cane to walk and also always looked at grabbing one of the grands arms for support...then to make matters worse, she had dental woes and of the 3 weeks she stayed with us she got all her teeth out and got dentures... so that made her look so old...well she is 69. Will be 70 next May. That's when I realised I was almost a fossil.

Pat... your pets really have been well trained by you and that is so sweet of them....and lovely that the children are taking such great care of the 2 of you. They really know and love and appreciate how special you and DH are to them and they are blessed to have you. Good luck and prayers for your appointment on Monday.

Yes I also agree with Pat & Ree about meaningful conversations... Pat, like you DH & I have hearing problems, I wear a hearing aid in my left ear, and DH wears them in both ears and relies heavily on lip reading, but that has gotten worse after I stopped wearing dentures, he can't do too much of lip reading either, so I either need to really talk into his ear, yes the decibel tone matters, or both of us communicate through notes, on the I-pad....well technology is helping so why not. I do have a scribble pad with a big marker always kept at our bedside though since the past 3 to 4 years. Oh well...ageing is not for the weak hearted...and we do have our funny senior moments...like when Sara our DD was here and also going through her dental woes they were about a week when she like me was toothless & her dentures hadn't come, so they were times even when we sat quiet, with no conversation, I would be chewing guess once we give up wearing dentures after a while it is an involuntary movement and Sara too had sore gums and would be chewing and DH would think we are talking but not involving him, and would continuously keep asking did you say something....much to the amusement of the grands...

Well gotta go.... it is time for my morning meds....

Have a great day & Week...May not me online much as tomorrow is DH's birthday

Hugs & Prayers to all
Mani

Checking in and making it short. I woke up at 4:00 this morning with a terrible cough. Called the doctor's office and they called me back, and he said it sounded like I had broncotis (sp) phoned in 2 prescriptions, my friend Judy went and picked up. She had stopped after church as I told her this morning that I wouldn't be going. Hate feeling bad, and makes for a long day.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. and my Geo. Jr.'s BD is today and he turned 63. Ouchie, where does time go?

Be back on tomorrow, God Willing.

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful SUNDAY. !!
It is so nice here with August flowers blooming-our yard is lovely each season.
Roses, Day lilies, sunflowers, etc in sunny areas and begonias in shady areas.
I am not getting outside to enjoy them like I would prefer but have a great view from windows.

DH and DD are walking the dogs. They are so good about telling us when they need to go out..
First POOCHIE comes to tell me and I relay the message:). Precious just goes to front door and barks. Another thing I look forward to- walking our dogs!

I can relate, REE, to missing conversations with DH. My DH and I are both hard of hearing and when we do converse it is a lot of repeating at times:) he seems to hear our DD just fine-different level of celibables ( sp?) I guess.

I hope the rains have subsided for Mani and the weather has improved. Same for Marsha.!
I don't believe others have mentioned the weather.

Another DD is accompanying us all to my specialist appointment tomorrow also. She most likely will have different questions than my caretaker daughter too. I am grateful for the first class care that is for sure.

Hugs, yes-we do need each other, REE!
Pat

Hi on Saturday and thanks for reassurance I am not going senile, I am so aware of mental lapses as my mother had dementia but she led a totally different life style to me and smoked heavily .
It was good too to read of Irene's progress , I can imagine her struggling with the unaccustomed type and amounts of food , but that struggle will make her more determined to get well,
Yes that's a lot of names to remember Mani, iam ok on family names so far myhusbnad is hopeless but they understand ,.son Ian became Jim this week to My dh . We haven't a Jim in the family but it has 3 letters in like Ian.
He loves to read but loses track of characters and story lines in most books,I suggested a biography , I had read one and thought it would suit him as it's about one man and it's humorous . If that works for him I can get more biographies maybe . Tv watching is more simplified too now but I don't mind as I am usually stitching anyway,
Hoping for a chatty weekend as we are seeing family, .i do miss good conversation when I didn't see anyone else buy dh for days. Keep well friends we need each other , Ree

Pat, you are doing good on your eating. Ensure is very good for you. I agree with your daughter on moving to prevent blood clots.
I know you will be glad when it is all over and you are on the road to recover.

Mani, you really have a big house, now I can see where you put everyone. I admire you for having so many people around. Sometimes I just want to be alone. :)

Have a great evening. Will watch the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tonight on TV.

Thanks again, Roberta , for another great thought!
I am doing just that. Right down to enjoying the moment.
I don't have surgery date yet, Roberta, just first exam, Monday!

Yes, we keep Irene in our prayers every day and Marcy says they are working!

REE, with all the hobbies you keep up with in spite of other obligations your memory will
Not have a chance to diminish! Yes, we all hope to make it to our ripe old years as sharp as your 104 year old friend! Keeping up with all the advances now in geriatric care we can do better than our ancestors.

Marsha, I know you will enjoy having someone near nights. And she will enjoy knowing you are near also!. Goes both ways!
Sorry it has been so hot there. We have been blessed with great weather

Mani, you are truly blessed to be living in your ancestral home and with your wonderful family. You can't get better than that!
13 bedrooms!!! Those are a lot of sheets to keep up with:)

we have 5 bedrooms here and the guest bedrooms are most often filled. Our D TEXAS daughter left yesterday and a DGS and wife coming tonight. for weekend. Next week 2 more sets of guests-1Tues ( from COLORADO and 1 THURS.( from Michigan
The following week 2 more families ( from Colorado and Wyoming) . So yes, we usually keep our guest beds filled:) we enjoy every minute of their loving support.
And- Never a dull moment .

My second day of soft liquid diet is continuing. I am even doing pretty well with protein thanks to the Ensure drinks. DD is after me to exercise in bed-hand weights and ankle and leg exercises. Hoping to prevent blood clots. So I am doing these right along too.

Well DH just came in and said it is too hot outside to work in yard. 85 degrees right now. We are expecting rain on Monday and Tues. And that will cool things down.

Take care friends and keep us posted -we appreciate hearing from everyone!
Hugs, Pat

Has been raining cats & dogs here.... the temps have dipped and both DH & I are already feeling the bad weather in our bones.

Marsha, yes Praise the Lord, have been blessed to live in our ancestral house. The house we live in was built by my grandfather over a 100 years ago and was given to my DH when we got married as part of my Dowry. It is a huge bungalow built on a 5 acre plot, about 50 years ago DH extended the top floor and we now have 13 bedrooms.

Roberta that's a great thought, thanks for sharing.

Pat praying that all goes well for you. I know your family is around to take good care of you & your DH...so that is a relief. Hope the surgery goes off well.

Have a lovely Friday

Great hearing the update on Irene from her friend. Prayers continuing for her.

Hugs & Prayers

Pat, i know you will be glad to see you Doctor on Monday. You are in my prayers.
Been busy trying to get a few things cleaned out of the apt. Judy is planning on moving in around Oct 1st. It will be nice to have someone here. She works 2 jobs, so will be gone a lot, but will be here at night. Nights are the hardest. She has a private entrance up to the garage apt, so she will have her privacy, and me also. Will be when it is all done. Geo. and Karen and Jenny are coming over to get some things, I sold the Futon, and they are picking it up in the morning.

Take it easy, and do what the doctor orders. Hugs and prayers coming your way.

Good to hear from you REE, Marsha, and Mani!
Your lives sound much more interesting than mine at this time.
Our Texas DD returned home today. We will miss her.

I am Still following the instructions leading up to my exam --Lying on left side for most of time.
DD called my "prolapse" nurse today and she put me on a " soft " liquid diet till DR sees me on Monday.

So my "healthy" diet today became lots of water, gingerale, jello , V8 juice and a pudding cup.
DD also stocked up on Different flavored Ensure to start tomorrow.
We will see how that goes.

I am watching a movie on Hallmark movie channel.

Good night, friends, Pat

Mani, so good hearing from you you when I opened up my mail. I am finaly getting some notificatons that people have posted. That is a great idea of setting a time for visitors. Too much company can wear you out. You must have a big house to house everyone. I would say that you and DH are Lucky Chicks. :)

Have a blessed day. God Bless.

Ree great to hear about the 104 year old with all faculties intact, gives me hope to keep trying...
Don't even talk about senior moments, imagine our plight on trying to keep track of our ever growing family & the extended family and the innumerable friends who visit with us. The most popular names in our family our Sara, Lizzy and Susan...we have at least half a dozen of them in the extended family... and with the family growing have lost track of the names of all those great-grand nephews & nieces & their spouses...just live for the moment and get excused saying I know your grandma...but don't recall your name. what's more funny is that my DD & DDIL too at times are fumbling for names.

Marsha, getting your hair done sure sounds fun, yes I agree washing it with all those achy joints & then setting is pretty tiring. Pat I admire you that you wash your hair yourself... I am completely dependent on a caregiver to help me with my shower as I have a frozen shoulder and can't raise my right hand too high, forget holding the hand shower.

Oh yes, my DGD Anita, has made sure that DH & I don't end up overdoing things with all the excitement of the house guests and the Birthday dinner. She has set up a rule, the dictator that she is, that anyone who visits us is only between 12:00 and 1:00 or 5 & 7 otherwise we need our rest....

Pat praying all goes well for you, and hope being in bed for long hours isn't hurting too much..so sorry to hear about the loss of your childhood friend.

Roberta love reading your blogs and posts...keep the wise ones coming.

Hope Irene is doing well, haven't heard about her health in the past 4 or 5 days...

Hugs & Prayers to all
Mani

Pat, I was just thinking. It is so hot, and I am wring and wet, sweat running down my face getting the groceries in, what good to go and get hair done. I would, and always did do my own hair but with my shoulder It hurts too bad to hold it up to roll it.

Keep us posted on the consultation.
Going to go in and rest a bit.

And I thought that our household was having a lot of guests, you have us outnumbered by far, Mani! Enjoy!!!!
But like Marsha suggests, retreat to your room when need be. As you know, I am doing that allot lately:).

Yes, Marsha, have a great afternoon and enjoy the pampering at the beauty salon! I envy you. I am washing my own hair these days and it really need a shaping up. !
Now only 5 more days TIL my consultation appointment.

REE, our news commemorated this event as well! I personally recall stories told by a Dear Uncle who served in World War 1, He told of the horrible experiences In the trenches! But he was one of the lucky ones -he lived through it!
We mustn't fret about our senior moments-others have it worse, I believe reading books and writing-a lot - as in "Sparking " here - is good for us too!

Sadly,I learned yesterday that another dear friend has passed away. After my surgery I hope to call on his widow
Before we return to TEXAS. She was a girlhood friend who was my bridesmaid!
She is in a care center in another town.

Thank you, Roberta , for researching what we should (and should not) eat! Please keep sharing!

The weather has been lovely here and I hope you all are enjoying great weather also.

Hugs, Pat

Hello on Wednesday , Mani what a lot will be going on in your home but it will be lovely to see everyone. You can always retreat to your own rooms for a quiet break. That's a good birthday to celebrate your husbands 93rd , fantastic ,
There's been a lot going on here as it's just 100 years since the start of the 1914 war, so emotional and sad . On local tv it was showing pictures of damage done by bombs from an air ship , before planes! One lady was featured as she was a child and lived in the area that was bombed. She was 104 , her mental facilities were marvellous , she remembered it and other events vividly . She was probably not good on walking but stood for some time with someone at each side of her . I admired her stamina and it does us good to know what's possible .
My memory is excellent but I have senior moments and am so hard on myself then. I had a bad day yesterday with things going wrong. Then looking back I wonder did I over react to that and made it worse? Hoping it's a better day today, with no senior moments ! Ree

Marsha great to know that you had an enjoyable time for your birthday.

Pat I know, just how terrible it is to be confined to bed when you want to be up & about. Good news on you DH's health so happy to know that he is back to his old self. And relived that you are being well taken care off.

Well I have busy days ahead... We have house guests & my DGS Nathan returns with his family after their 3 week European vacation. My Eldest DGS John, his wife & youngest son Zach come in for a 2 week vacation, well they will be staying with Sara, John's mom. My late sister's DD, her husband & DGS are already here, they arrived yesterday from London. DH's niece will be arriving on Sunday from Trivandrum encounter to visit her DGS in Bombay. She her DH & their GGD who is escorting them as their caregiver will be with us for 3 days.

The children are also planning a family get together for a surprise Birthday for DH who will be 93 next Tuesday.... Well lots if action and I am in between traction & in and out of the Naval Base Hospital for my Ultra Sound treatment... Golly it is just going to get more hectic...

Have a lovely Wed while I get ready for my traction

Hugs & Prayers
Mani

DH and DD just returned from shopping trip . The price of Avocado's was no longer a bargain at ALDI'S (: This time -1.09 a piece!! Maybe the price as increased at regular stores as well for whatever reason.
So much for that bargain !! (:!
I know one time in TEXAS they were rationed.

Pat, yes we have an Aldi's real close, probably a mile. I am just so used to shopping at Publix and know where everything is. I just try it again. Late DH and I went one time, but was not impressed, but it could have gotten better, as I have several friends that shop there. Thanks for the reminder.

Yes, enjoy your break, REE!
So glad your DH liked that he received messages from around the world! ARN'T we glad that we lived long enough to experience internet services??

Marsha, do you have an ALDI'S store where you live? You can find inexpensive foods of all kinds there including fresh veggies! We have found Avacados at .15 cents each there!

Thanks for another positive quote, Roberta! Keep EM coming:)

Dear Mani - thinking of you. I hope your PT is doing well. And your back is doing better as well!

My DH is off shopping with our TEXAS DD for groceries. They will shop ALDI'S first and regular grocery store after for what ALDI'S doesn't carry that is on our list.

As I said on our Exercise site, I am not advised to do my purposeful walking TIL after my
"Prolapse exam " next week so back to lying on my left side for much of my time!! My DD's have supplied me with hand weights and "ankle exercises" for now:)

I need to remember Roberta's positive quotes for sure:)

Hugs, Pat

Hope you can make it to your crafts.
You have to stay strong for you and him.
