Hi Roberta- hope you recover quickly from your sleepless night Wed. I sleep very well between potty runs. Glad i was only up once last night. I think getting to bed at 11:30 after watching a good movie was the reason only once. Usually hit the sack abot 10:00. But watching the conventions too. Oh, congratulations on the many steps you are racking up as well.

I still haven't got back to my walking program yet sadly with my recent bladder infection I was counting my numerous trips to the bat room ( up to 14 a day,) as my walking exercise.. But I am back to contributing my version of nutritious meals around here. Right now I am Including protein at every meal, increasing the good fats and limititing carbs and sugar sources.

Speaking of weather we really need rain and are promised it starting tonight at 10:00 and lasting through tomorrow. We will see.

Hope both you , Marsha and other team members get a good nights sleep.

Beautiful day in the neighborhood today--and much cooler--in the 80s.
Grateful for that blessing.
Still recovering from Wednesday night's insomnia!
Sleeping has improved but not where it should be.
After these sleepless nights, it takes about a week to recover, but I WILL!

One perk: the scale started going in the right direction. emoticon

Did 15,281 steps yesterday. That was 150% of my daily goal of 10,000.

On Walking4Fun Arizona Trail, I finished up Stage 12 and on to Stage 13 last evening.
That is 12 out of 43! (31 more to go)

I slept 1:40 hrs last night out of 13:16 hrs in bed--took 9:30 hrs to fall asleep! (And here I was doing so well!) That strawberry smoothie for supper was responsible! All those carbs! What was I thinking! I wasn't! I was hungry! It was quick! emoticon

Summer finally arrived in uk. Very hot at present, we aren't used to it so dint cope well!

I am to go onto blood pressure meducation now. On Tuesday I am to have a fasting blood test and an ECG l I have been first fortunate in having very good health until this year my 84th one when things started to go wrong, but I shall take one day at a time and stay positive.

Thanks for advice, I do home exercises daily I am trying to concentrate in lower half of my body, I need to strengthen my legs , I feel they don't want to do much walking, I live on a steep hill , so where ever I walk to i have this hill to struggle up on returning home ,I am worn out when I get home . But we must keep going ! Ree

You have been through two draining life events, Ree. Give yourself some TLC-- you deserve it. Sitting is the new smoking, so it will help you to keep moving a little more each day. There are exercises you can do while sitting. I do exercises in the kitchen while waiting for my tea water to boil. Some leg exercises in the morning before getting up. I walk virtual trails on Walking4Fun.com--short ones and long ones. Walking4fun.com

Hello ladies on Saturday morning,I am still here I plod on, I have to accept there will be changes in health as I get older, I have always been fit but the cancer scare showed me everyone gets something sooner or later, I feel tired so much now . I don't go out so much but am happy at home with hobbies and tv. My son Mike lives with me but out all day at work,but is company in evenings. He goes to see his own family every other weekend, he is divorced with grown up kids. We get on well but need a break from each other at times .

Regarding good books, I have several Kindle edition books by Mark Sisson. Primal Blueprint is excellent. I still re-read it, and I subscribe to his email newsletters-- Mark's Daily Apple. Great info there.

I am also participating on my iPad to Fitbit's Goal Day challenge. I noticed that all of us are getting in more steps.

Hi, Ree. I post my exercises most every day, but my life is not interesting to anyone but me. I have been reading quite a bit--Mark Sisson's Primal Blueprint, Joe Osteen's The Power of I Am, and I Declare. Also doing whatever I can to br strong, healthy, and fit with energy and stamina. I will be 90 in October. I am a work in progress--still. ;-D.

It is good to see your email come in. I belong to five other teams that are quite active. Today is our July Fourth celebrations. Lots of activities going on here.

Hello ladies , I am still here. I have been so tired lately and got a bit down. But I have had check ups and told its natural to take a long time to recover from major surgery. I had a mastectomy in April, I have been discussing after care, the cancer was small and fully removed, it was suggested I had chemotherapy afterwards ,I refused thinking quality of life is more important to me now. It was syggested as it may help in preventing future cancers. This week I disussed radiology I have a week to decide but again am thinking I'm refusing it, I want to get on with my life again,
Oh that's marvellous to have a good nights sleep. I do find I need a couple of naps in a day now, take care Ree

I had a challenging day yesterday, BUT I HAD . . .

An amazing event last night: I slept 8:32 hrs last night without interruption!
Sleep efficiency was 100%! In bed 8:43 hrs. restless 2X, awake 0X!
This is the first time in decades that I have slept this well this long.
That Elemis is amazing! I am eternally grateful to my cousin for sharing it with me.

Hi Ree, i apologize for not being on of late. We traveled from Texas to our Michigan home a week ago- 1200 miles, and I have been busy settling in.
I do not plan to join a different team. We may be small but we can sure make up for it in other ways.
I pray you are feeling stronger and healing more every day.
We have been busy planting garden and getting our yard flower beds cleaned out and planted with new border plants as well. Trips to nurseries are always fun.
The Weather here has been fine so far but other areas of the country are flooding. Hope you are not in flood zones. I see France and Germany are having troubles with weather as well.
Please keep us posted as to what you are up to.

Thank you for caring and praying for me it's been an emotional month. I did get the all clear at the breast clinic, that's good isn't it ? Well yes but they want to do procedures to prevent cancer returning" I had to go to oncology department to discuss chemotherapy.
I refused that, I am in good health generally and want to spend months feeling ill, now it's radiotherapy on offer? I can refuse and say I will take my chances on it returning. I just don't know yet . ,
But I am doing well generally gaining strength and walking more . I had a birthday too this month.i am 84 now . Let's keep plodding on , look after yourselves and enjiy life . Ree

Hi Roberta--
Glad that you figured out your E-mail problems without calling for help:) sometimes we don't realize our own God given geneses:)

Good you got your lockbox open too!

You are doing great job of caring for and monitoring need of your fuchsias too.
Glad you are using your grocery bags in waste baskets. We do that too but still use the large black ones in garage containers. Along that subject -daughter # 4 sent me a long "sock like bag" open on both ends, that is used for keeping our grocery bags in. Works great and hangs in my bathroom over the basket.

As for me I have been kept pretty busy preparing hearty lunch meals daily for the hired man DH has helping him out at the farm daily They have now straightened up the garage that was leaning and when raining here -removing tons of staples off the kitchen floor. Dh also built long steps to go down embankment to the pond to reach the floating dock he built earlier. Yesterday they were adjusting the barrels under the floating dock more securely. Pretty amazing work for a 92 year old I think:) DH does the building and the 21 year old does alot of the muscle work:)

I had an email problem and discovered the solution by myself. I am so proud of me!!! emoticon I wish I knew what causes these little glitches from time to time. Probably updates. Cancelled my appointment at Apple’s Genius Bar at the Mall. Relieved that I don’t have go.

Yesterday, I had multiple email going back and forth with the Mayflower claims adjuster. The locksmith came out to unlock my file cabinet, but he had a difficult time as the cabinet is so elderly, he could not find info on the internet to help. He ended up drilling into the lock, also with great difficulty. Now, the cabinet has holes in various places, and it is usable, but not lockable. No problem, as I never locked it—the movers did! I had to move a lot of boxes, paintings, etc., out of the way so he could get to the cabinet, and then put them all back. That’s OK, I needed to do some lifting.

The fuchsias are gorgeous! The blossoms are coming open one or two at a time and may be blooming all summer. I keep monitoring the humidity to keep them from wilting, and wind to move them back out of the blasts that come in from time to time. We had a sudden, and unexpected, brief rain and wind yesterday afternoon. I’m getting in my lifting exercise by moving them out of harm’s way—from the front of my back porch to safety next to the wall.

A few days ago, I had a light-bulb moment about garbage bags! I buy the large ones for garbage/trash and recyclables. Then I looked at the 7-8 grocery bags filled with more grocery bags to be tossed into the trash bins, and the light bulb turned on. They fit on the large waste baskets just fine, are more economical, and are easier to lift into the trash bins! Plus, I get more exercise by having to take them to the outside bins more often. So it turned out to be a win-win situation—more exercise and saving money. Oh, I just have to pat myself on the back! emoticon

Regarding this weird election, I turned it over to God, and am praying that He will find a good leader for us, and all will work out OK.

Thinking of you ,Ree! Praying you are feeling better every day.

As usual, DH and I are working on losing weight- and by hook or by crook-we are getting there! .
My method is a little different than his. Both working
He is skipping one meal
and I am cutting all servings to 1/3.
Also setting phone timer to 20 minutes for 3 sips of water from my thermos. I read on line that this method could help my incontinence which I have had since my colon surgery. It seems to be helping alot!!

My DD surprised me today with an early Mother's Day gift--two ornate plant stands and two hanging fuchsia plants for the patio. They are full of buds and will be gorgeous when in full bloom. If any hummers pass by and partake of the sweet treat, I will hang the sugar water container on one of the hangers. Then we enjoyed gourmet sandwiches from Idaho Pizza with chips and drinks. We had a lovely, sweet lunch and visit. Such a blessing.

When I first moved into this cramped apartment, I complained vigorously! But after losing my balance several times and crashing into the laundry machines or furniture, I am very grateful that it IS cramped! This happens when I get into a hurry to do something.

Note to Self: SLOW DOWN! And sign up for that class at the Senior Center, "Fit & Fall Proof."

I am profoundly grateful for all of God's blessings, and especially for sleeping better. The sleep mode in my Fitbit caused concern when I viewed the daily reports--there was no improvement after all the sleep hygiene I tried, so I stopped wearing it night before last and this morning deleted that program completely from the dashboard. I am not focusing on getting sleep, I just go to bed, listen to the thunderstorm CD, turn the TV timer on and drift off. I feel good. emoticon

Well Roberta- i was up 4 times last night to go to bathroom and i know why-

I took a side trip on my nutrition "wagon" today down memory lane and found that it wasn't all that great! Wasn't as I remembered it, so I will steer the horses to stay on the main road, which is better traveling. Lesson learned!

Yesterday I took an online class and test on Defensive Driving, offered by the insurance company through the National Safety Council, to reduce my car insurance premiums and passed with 92% correct (23/25). But the most important lesson was to keep MINDFUL while driving my car, and taking care of it. I will take another in three years. One new thing I learned was to keep my chest 12"-15" away from the airbag and make sure that the airbag is aimed at my chest, NOT MY FACE! (Will check that out today. I may need another cushion to sit on!) With chronic fatigue, I have cancelled appointments because I was too sleepy to drive my car safely. That online class was a blessing.

Just checking in before I hit the sack. Kinda tired tonight, go to the chiropractor at 11:00 in the morning, and if I feel like it will stop by Publix. Feeling less sore this evening, just taking it easy after the adjustments.

Good for you, Roberta! You have mastered the trick of stopping before overeating.
I am still working on that.

DH And i have lost 5 pounds each since starting our skipping a meal daily.
Hope to have another 5 gone by the time we return to Michigan next month.
I will have a 90th BD celebration soon after getting back home:)

I love to try new recipes too, Marsha.
Glad Geo. Jr got your lawn mowed.
DH has got ours done here and now added another two acres out at DD's farm.:)

I ate my breakfast mindfully this morning and found that I filled up quickly--my tastebuds said, "That's enough! I cannot stand another bite!" I'm back to drinking green tea with a little milk, and that tasted SO GOOD!

I am looking forward to a book I just ordered, "Grandmother's Recipes." More tasty food to enjoy mindfully!

Good morning to all. Last night was watching a TV program and never got on the computer (which is a good thing). :)

Nan, I am so sorry to hear about your surgery, I will have you in my prayers and will mark my prayer calendar. I am so glad that you have a good state of mind about it, and that is 50% of healing. Is there anyone that can keep us posted on your progress?

Just popping in to say I am still here, but am preparing for mastectomy after a diagnosis of breast cancer. Of course it was a shock, but I am strong mentally and very positive, I go om 31st March for pre surgery checks, then on 15th April is D day or surgery day. I have family and friends support . Ree

Before taking the med out of the capsule you might want to check with the company or a medical professional. Some meds are put into capsules so that they are not absorbed until they reach a certain part of the body. I suspect that pre and post biotics are such meds since they are designated for the small intestines. If absorbed in the stomach the value may be lost.

Haircut and style this afternoon, then visit the Vitamin Shoppe, Natural Grocers, and maybe Walmart if there is enough energy left. I like Dr. Mercola's daily newsletters--lots of helpful info. These past few days, my fatigue was heavy--found out I should not do intermittent fasting at this time. Getting some prebiotic and probiotic pills, as my yogurt smoothies demand more honey than I should be consuming. Also, some days I cannot swallow another pill, so maybe I will open the caps and put the powder in my daily smoothie. We keep learning what works (or does not work) for our well-being.

The book by Dr. David Perlmutter, "Brain Maker," has been in my Kindle library on laptop and iPad for quite a while, and I just started reading it two days ago. All I can utter at the moment is "W O W!" I had no idea that what went on (or did not go on) in the gut was responsible for our overall health, neurological, brain, and immune systems! Absolutely amazing!

Since I missed my grocery run bus I'll take the time to jot a short post. (He is always 10 to 15 minutes late UNTIL this morning. I was outside EXACTLY on time and spotted him leaving the NEXT court. Luckily I have enough on hand but variety gets more limited.

I'm happy that Louisiana's heavy rains did not cause problems for you. For the last several months it doesn't seem to matter in what directing the rains are coming here, we end up only having a very light or maybe 1/4 inch of rain. We are in the midst of a rainy week but don't expect even a half inch total.

I had read earlier about your new food plan. I'm just trying to stress fruits and vegetables. But except for frozen f & v the supplies become limited with 2 weeks between shopping. My exercising is far from what I would like to be doing. Your good results have not encouraged me enough as yet. So please continue.

Good morning Fay! So happy to see your post. !! Please keep them coming. Love to hear from you and happenings in Pennsylvania.?

That time change has affected us all I guess. We slept in til 7:oo ourselves and I am usually up by 6:00:)

And I too am having my morning coffee. Don't know if you have read my recent posts about DH and I are actually losing a little weight:) very slowly for sure. but it is actually working.! ( my goal is to weigh some day what YOU weigh now:)!! Happy to say it is working- 1 pound off a week for both of us! I actually got to change my ticker this morning. Finally into to 150's!!!!

I have to commend you too for doing your cross word puzzles. Our brains need exercise too!!)

Yes the much needed rains are continuing in Texas. Just in time for our own spring flowers. Our Iris have been blooming for a while and now our wonderful fields of bluebonnets . We even have them in our front yard. Time for our annual trip to the country . I love taking in the beauty!!

Ok, time for my second cup of coffee!

I never had trouble adjusting to time changes before but this year is different. I did not get up until 8:30 this morning. But hey ! A few days ago it would only have 7:30 which is more acceptable to me.

And unusual for me, I was not hungry until later. I made my coffee and sat down with the newspaper including my 5 puzzles. Good mental exercise but not only a smidgen of physical exercise (turning the page and moving the pen. No ! I did not post this as exercise.)

So brunch was not until after 10 but yummy. Lightly wilted mixed greens and a favorite of mine- 2 effs with red bell pepper prepared in a pan with a bit of coconut oil. So tasty !

Some rains still surviving until they pass this way but nothing like many of the others on the team. They seem to have petered out by the time they get here. But temperatures a bit higher than our normals. Some daffodils blooming but should be spectacular for the week between Palm Sunday and Easter. Couldn't have planned it better !

Irene, I'll be praying for positive results for your health.

Pat, You and your DH are doing great with your food program.
re. my gardening: This development was built on former farm land. But they stripped almost all the top soil off the land before building. Consequently, when it rains the poor earth worms escape, or so they hope, onto our pavement where they die.My pavement is decorated with them dried out and fused to the surface. Last year I only had 3 tomato plants crowded next to the building where the former owner had dug a small area and put 3 to 4 inches of of planting soil. Planting of tomato plants is Memorial Dayish.

My weight has been pretty staple for this winter which is a win for me since I have always gained 3 to 5 pounds each winter.

A special day yesterday. My DD came by after her medical appointment (high BP due to the stress of losing her sweet therapy dog). I had ordered gourmet sandwiches, chips, and Coke from a neighborhood pizza restaurant. After enjoying the meal, she relaxed and we enjoyed chatting about special memories of Alex. She described how she got him from inside the house, to the yard, and into the car. (BIG guy!) That he had lost so much weight that one of the staff members at the vet's office was able to carry him into the examining room. And that when the doc offered him a treat, he tried to cross his paws (his special trick to beg for a treat) but was too weak.

I told her that taking care of him for a long time took a lot out of her, and that she needed to take care of herself now, to nurture herself like she nurtured her beloved Alex. A lovely rain came in and we watched the news and commented on this crazy election year. (Lots of laughter here.) (She discovered my missing stepladder under a pile of boxes and packing paper.) It was a special time I will remember with love.

BonBoyage and safe travels, Sairah.

DH is also happy that he lost 2 pounds this week as well.
His weight had crept up even more than mine. !

DD is here because we are watching our favorite women's college basketball game. The Lady Bears! From Baylor University in Waco Texas. We are up by 10 at half time. We have won 16 in a row so far. We are so thankful that they are all televised now. This is our first year to not attend in person with my surgeries this year I would have missed them anyway.

Ok- back to the game🐻😊

Roberta the Ted Talks video was great...it also helps me feel more secure, though, my mom is a reminder of things to come for me, as I can see such noticeable differences in her now, if I don't see her of 2 or 3 days. she also takes a while to get comfortably chatting with me.

Pat, congratulations on the weight loss...that's a thought my husband and I should consider once we are back from our pilgrimage of 2 meals and a snack.

Well we leave tonight and will be back on the 20th...

My DD just called me to tell me she had to put her beloved Alex, Bernese Mountain dog and dog therapy team partner, down. Such a sad time.

Glad you have got your energy back Roberta, and your mineral water is working for you too!!
Also that you were able to get the groceries you need.

Our DD keeps our groceries picked up when she gets hers.
Between that and bringing us our noonmeals from school we are overloaded. !
Now- We need to use up whats on hand.

We shop at our Discount Store for paper products.

We started something new this week- eating only 2 meals a day plus one snack. I have lost 1 pound since Monday and DH has lost 3! Seems to be working:)

02/25 was a good day. Paid a visit to Natural Grocers, and my fridge and pantry are loaded with good stuff. I need to visit Walmart today for supplies.

After ten months since moving here, it is a relief to have my damaged furniture fixed, and I can get on with my life--start my weight training at the exercise room and my isometric therapy at home. I will do some serious downsizing, too, to get my home uncluttered, organized, and company ready.

In three weeks on the silicon-rich mineral water, I realized yesterday that it was working to leach aluminum from bone and tissues! My energy and stamina are up! I'm not where I want to be, but this improvement is amazing! I may even join the walkers at the Mall.
