Note to self: Drop your shoulders and breathe slowly and deeply. Think about something pleasurable to do today. Take a walk outside in the fog. SMILE!

I am grateful today that my Grandfather's mantle clock is back to working perfectly after all these years.

I am grateful today for finding Volvic water to rid my body of the toxin Aluminum! It tastes so delicious, I may continue to using it after the 12-week period.

02/03: Busy day--7717 steps. Found and made an appointment for today with a tax preparer in my DD's neighborhood, shopped for healthful foods at Natural Grocers, supplements at The Vitamin Shoppe, and finished off at Walmart! I was so tired, was in bed before 8:00, then awake about 12 something, and could not get back to sleep, so I was up just before 3:00!

I awoke to snow this morning. Does not look deep, so probably by 11:00 the streets will be clear. A winter advisory came in last evening, and temp now is only about 30 deg.

Good news about your knee. I walked across the parking lot to and from the office walking just holding my cane! That is improvement from just a few days doing my own special leg exercises! I am SO grateful!

I need to set up a routine for exercise like my daughter does. She goes to a gym EVERY DAY--so far for a month! After 21 days, it has become a habit. She inspires me to get moving. There is no excuse for me not going to the exercise room here at the apartment complex!

Safe travelling to those on the road tiday. A week d at home for me.

Ree-your DH was just doing what most men do:) ! I am just glad he was able to make it without killing himself!!
For me-One hour of my PT and walking program done before Br.
Will finish up this afternoon after I return from dr appointment.
----never did finish up. Reached only about 3000 steps.
But accomplished abit anyway. DD drove me to my final Colon Rectal surgeon in next town. My DH was dog sitting:) Dr was happy with my progress.
Will have to check in with her next May when we return from Texas.
Napped this afternoon, then sorted and tossed from side tables in our little TV sitting room, fixed dinner and did the dishes. DD is off baby sitting our beautiful GGkids

Want to improve your health? Get some good fitting walking shoes and start walking.
Just combine your indoor walking alternately with Hip and Upperbody PT's. Works for me.

Hope you all are finding what works for you as far as exercise is concerned.
The important thing is to -just keep moving!

For me currently- is my indoor walking program.
( started these to recover from the 3 surgeries i have had in last year-and it's working!!)
Using my walker the whole time:)
Up at 5:00- walk indoors-15 minutes at a time
(-6 sessions -90 minutes total-)
It reaches my 10,000 steps daily.by 8:00 AM.

I like to get my form of exercising over with. Early.
Everything beyond 8:00 AM are bonus steps for me.
If I don't make a special effort to take care of me-who will?

DD#3 is here keeping me company in the temporay absence of DD#1:)
She fixed Cream-o-wheat with raisins for our breakfast. Yummy .
DD#1 and DH will be back later today from their trip down to the Fair.
DH likes to get back there annually and see old friends and old haunts:)
And one of the DD's always see's to it that he gets there!:)

DD#3 is now in kitchen making DH's favorite cookies, Molasses Crinkles- to greet him
When he get's home today. She used Dark Molasses and partly whole wheat flour and applesauce and oil rather than Crisco-healthier version!! They turned out perfect!
Yes, we are definately spoiled !

Pat,
It seems I often have to restart my computer and then whatever to get the (dangle?) to light up. New battery, etc. but I now just usually don't use it. Have not gone outside to walk the last 3 or 4 days due to temp around 50, wind and either rain or at least dampness. I'm a softee. Besides that activities and company have filled much of my time. Only did 30 minutes of stretches today.

Dear Ree-- you are doing exactly what you have to do at this point in time. More power to you.
But the doctor is right-you must take care of yourself too. !!
Please let us know what routine you can set up your self

I slept in til 6:35 this morning so got a late start om my walking program. Consequently didn' t reach my 10,000
Steps til after breakfast.
Now at end of day i am well over 12,000 steps. Without my purposeful walking it would only register 400 or so!

I always did my exercises early mornings But now that's my busy time , I am involved then with my husbands early morning routine. I look after him but my doctor tells me I am not always looking after myself. I am creature of routine so looking to fit in exercise or a walk later in the day .
It's Autumn now with misty morning sunshine later but cooler . It's my favourite season. Ree

Thanks for your support, friends.!
it has now become a habit for me to get up when I wake up at 5:00 and alternately do my Physical Therapy assignment steps ( for hips, both sitting and standing, as well as upper body , arms, via stretch bands. Also have voice assignments for my raspy voice. Do these alternately with -walking - between each PT's .
Glad to have almost all completed by Breakfast time.

The temps have dropped dramatically here. Inthe 50's here this morning and only up to 59 at noon. Fall is officially in the air 🍁🍂🌻🙉. Beautiful but BRRR!

Today didn't quite reach my 10,000 steps by breakfast. Had to go off to a " voice" appointment.
So this evening I did 3 -10 minute walks and my Sparker is finally fully lit?
Fay--If you are having trouble with your computer not recording your steps you might want to go to the "Spark Owners team " and see coach Denise suggestions.

Pat, I don't know how you do so many steps. I'm trying the last 3 days to get 5000 steps. But Spark pedometer lights up for that amount but the gadget to the computer does not light up and so is not giving me credits. And I am tired by then and not going for 10000

Good for you, Roberta! Keep up the great workouts! Your body will thank you😅

I started at 6:00 AM and finished my purposeful steps by 8:30 am to reach my 10,000 steps.
Started something new today though-set my timer to ring hourly and do 5 steps more each hour.
Other wise i might think I can become a couch potato the rest of the day😋

My PT, Chris, was here this afternoon, and we had such fun. (Yoga is about the only exercise I am not doing. Physical therapy, isometrics, weights, stretching, plus Tai-chi/Qigong.) An occupational therapist will be here Wednesday afternoon, and Chris will be back on Thursday. I think of your quote: "The more I do, the more I can do!"

Hey! That 14,000 steps is awesome!

Today is delightfully cool, and even had a few sprinkles. The patio door has been open most of the day to breathe in the cool moist air. Love it! Love it!

You are the one who is inspiring, Roberta! Looks like you have your work cut out for you as well! I admire you doing your isometrics and yoga as well! Your body will thank you for it.

Because of you I am trying always to out-do myself:)
Ever since early Sept I have reached my daily 10,000 steps by 9:00 AM !
I love getting up early and---- getting it done! Using my walker, by the way.
The rest of the day is just-gravy. Sometimes have reached into the 14,000s steps :)
It also helps me to get my PT assignments reached as well as my "voice" exercises.
I am not a super woman- I get a good nap in afternoon!!
Hope to be in shape to return to Texas mid-October!!

Pat, you are fantastic! All the exercise you are doing is inspiring.

The PT will be here Mondays and Thursdays for six to eight weeks, so I will be getting maybe 45 minutes of exercise there. Plus, I keep finding ways to do isometrics during the day. I ordered a DVD of Tai-Chi/Qigong (sp?) that will help with balance and strength.

I didn't reached my 10,000 steps til later this morning as my walking so early awakens DD who's BR is just below part of my walking area on main floor.

PBut did have all lites lit on Spark counter by 10:00AM! Whatever works isfine withme! emoticon

I improved from yesterday by adding another minute to my walking between 17 PTs! now-9 lites lit by 8:00!

Pat, you are working hard to recover. Good for you!
I'm hard at it, too, trying to get my legs back! I hope the cane can be left at home by October. I started on balance exercises last evening. Tried to to the "Grapevine" -- my legs got tangled up! Balance will take top priority now.

A repeat of yesterday for me.

Better the laptop than the TV, Roberta:)

Your talk of so many steps -taken reminds me that I better try to locate my steps tracker as well. Don't know where it is at the moment or if the batteries even work.

My full hour of walking between 5:00 AM and 8:00 should add up to a few!

I've been stuck at my laptop all day and have hardly moved at all! That will be a poor showing on Fitbit tonight! I still need to hook up my bedroom TV and recorder! I finally found all the pieces last night. No structured exercise at all!

Good going, Bella! And Roberta too! We are proud of you!!

The last few days I have set my alarm For 5:00 to get all my assigned PT exercises over with by 8:00. After each individual exercise I walk 4 minutes and incorporate kitchen duties and laundry as well.
Sitting chair exercises, Standing chair exercises, Stretch band exercises, and now Voice exercises to try to save my raspy voice from disappearing completely.
Great satisfaction to get it all done early.:)

Yesterday, I started doing leg and butt exercises throughout the day and ended up with a final step count of 17,394 steps! I have not stepped that much since my volunteer days at the hospital. I joined Walking 4 Fun and walked the Florida Keys Trail with a friend. I am now on Wonderland Trail, which is around Mt. Rainier. When we first moved to Seattle, we visited there. It is a beautiful place.

I intended to go out on errands today, but we are still under "Orange" for air quality--too much smoke from all the wild fires not only here but eastern Washington and Oregon! Really bad. The air is gray.
