Even on sale VegiZest is pretty steep in my opinion. I bought it on sale, I've enjoyed it, but I think I can find something similar that costs less, or just make my own veggie broth. If it were "OH MY GOD THIS IS DELICIOUS" I would probably choose to splurge on it, but in my opinion it's good, not great.

Yes, I used Better than Bouillon up until about six months ago, and enjoyed it, but it is still very high in sodium, so I'm avoiding it right now.

I can't imagine what is in it that could go bad. I would have to guess it would be good for a very long time. I agree though, I would question why you got one with a date, and one without a date. Seems a bit strange to me. You question the date so they send you one without a date!!

I know you are more diligent about your sodium than I am, but have you tried the "Better Than Bouillon" products? They are awesome!

I got my MatoZest in the mail--with no "Best by" date on the bottom. Guess that takes care of this customer!

I also just received notice today that the Matozest is on sale for $13.12, in case anyone is interested. I don't know whether that is the member price. I haven't tried it yet.

I called Customer Service this afternoon, and after describing my concern, they decided to send me a new Mato Zest. I don't have to send back the old one. That is a relief, because it's hard for me to get to the P.O. these days, much less re-package it. I weas satisfied with their response. I asked for a MatoZest with a Best By date that was further in the future.

I tried Vegi Zest in the Green Goddess dressing this morning, and have been enjoying it.

I bought the VegiZest but not the MatoZest. I have used it to make veggie broth for sauteeing veggies. I have cooked quinoa in it. I've used it to make my 10 grain pilaf. It just doesn't seem to have an awful lot of flavor to me. I thought it was because of the lack of sodium, but even when I add salt, it just doesn't seem to have much flavor. It's ok, but I doubt I'll buy it again.

I haven't opened it yet, in case I have to send it back to get a fresher one. Maybe they just don't move MatoZest off the shelf as fast. Maybe it's MatoRest.

I'll let you know if I get an interesting answer from the company.

What have you tried the MatoZest in? It is pricey. I bought it when I was anticipating a bonus at work (for extra hours).

I bought the VegiZest a couple months ago and it has a "Best By 12/9/2011" sticker on the bottom. I plan to use it beyond that if there's any left. A "best by" date isn't the same as a "use by" date. I mean, what's in there that could possibly go bad? I guess if it smelled funny I would probably not use it. Likely I'll have mine gone by then.

Just curious if you like it?

I think it's ok, not great, and pretty pricey.

I splurged on a jar of VegiZest and another of MatoZest, but am puzzled about the MatoZ. The VegiZest is Best by 5/25/12, but the MatoZest is Best by 12/7/11, which gives me about two months to use it all up.

Does the MatoZest have a short shelf life, or did they send me an old-ish container of it?

I tried calling the customer service, but they have no weekend hours, so I'm wondering what's up with this. Does anyone know?
