That first week back is always the worst. I sure hope you find your pedometer.

Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.

Physically, my first day back to work was fine. I got a wee bit winded, and lost my pedometer, but I sure am glad I did so much walking!

I admit it... aside from walking and running errands, I have been lazy! And yes, I am enjoying my vacation. I really should add some weight bearing exercises now that I have gotten some laziness in... the squats and pushups sound like just the thing, thanks BILLALEX70!

I hope you're enjoying your vacation!

Vacations are always tough because you're out of your routine, comfort zone. Getting all those steps and physical work can be done if you're conmitted to it. As you mentiined the metro parks are a great resource for walking. To keep up the physical I'd suggest body weight excercises, push ups, squats, lunges. Maybe look at some of the Spark excercise videos also.

Enjoy!

Hey, fellow Cols area SparkPeople! I have an active job: standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, climbing, more walking- and am on a two-week vacation. I know from experience that I will get soft and lazy if I don't plan to stay in working shape. Any ideas on how to keep up with my normal activity level while enjoying my time off? I do plan to work on things around the house, and walking my FatDog emoticon at the local Metro Parks and around the neighborhood... but I'm concerned about keeping up with my 19,000 steps per day average. Also, lifting boxes and pushing and pulling has kept my arms and legs strong (think pulling 2,000 lb pallets of water with a hand jack and lifting 40lb boxes from point A to B) at work, but how do I keep my current muscles at home?
