I just rented this last week and loved it. I have to admit - I never saw the original but I am going to this weekend (Amazon Prime)
“Do not let your fire go out spark by irreplaceable spark... Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real…. It is possible…. It’s yours. “ Ayn Rand (Atlas Shrugged)
I haven't caught this new version. I may wait till it reaches cable....of course, if it is on Showtime or The Movie Channel, I can forget it since Time Warner & CBS have blocked my premium channels. Gee.....I am so angry about that!!!
You can't wait for motivation to strike; sometimes you need to dig deep into yourself and find the motivation on your own.
I'm with the majority- totally loved the original, but I really liked this. I agree- totally liked the framing with the drug addiction to explain away her...later issues. 4/5 chainsaws for me on that one
I'm a huge Bruce Campbell fan so I think he makes all the difference. The remake was ok, but I didn't like it nearly as well as the original. Of course of the originals, Army of Darkness was always my favorite, not Evil Dead.
I'm looking for my inner athlete, but I'm afraid I may have eaten her. If I'm very quiet I can hear her screams of terror.
Remake... or retelling. :) I just watched this last night and I loved it. I watched it as a separate new movie trying to avoid comparisons. I love the original, but I loved this one, too... they were very different in so many ways. I'd give it 5/5 :)
Remakes do not phase me in the least... I'm like, Bring it On!! :) Another perspective of the story... or perhaps a retelling of a story. I'm all for it, let's see whatcha got.
I really hate it that they're remaking EVERYTHING but every once in a while I get down off my high horse and watch a remake. We thought this one was going to be good because of the trailer but we were disappointed. Picked it apart until nothing was left. Two thumbs down from me or 1/5 stars.
As long as people will shed the blood of innocent creatures there can be no peace, no liberty, no harmony between people. Slaughter and justice cannot dwell together. - Isaac Bashevis Singer
I thought it was quite good. The framework of the drug intervention worked well as an excuse for the group initially sticking around when horrible stuff starts happening. It was better than I expected. I went in with a bias though and still like the campy original better.
