June 24, 2005 On this day in Horror History, Land of the Dead made it’s theatrical debut. George Romero’s return to his iconic franchise after a 20 year hiatus from the zombie genre, Land of the Dead would mark a definitive moment in his legacy. Coupled with a new perspective on the human flaw in the wake of a global pandemic, the film would mark the first of Romero’s career to have digital effects. An all star cast including Simon Baker, John Leguizamo, Dennis Hopper, and Asia Argento would all solidify the’05 release as one of the most beloved zombie films of all time.
