no decorations, but we always try to get our little girl a few little things. And what we do just depends on the money. One year we were doing pretty well, and my hubby had flowers and stuffed animals and balloons sent to me all throughout the day.....it was awesome. One year he made me dinner, ran me a hot bath with rose petals, and had rose petals all over the bed, and wrote I love you in big letters in those glowy stars on the wall. He can really turn it on when he wants to....
I count him braver who overcomes his desires than he who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is the victory over self.
We don't do anything for the day. DH use to get me a stuffed animal for v-day but I finally asked him to stop getting me stuffed animals. You can only have so many stuffed animals and we think that it's a waste of money to buy flowers for as long as they live.
I wouldn't mind decorating for the day but never have.

As for me, I'd just as soon skip Valentine's Day. I truly do not see the point. Hubby though is a big ol' softie so I always get him a card and a little something and go for a date night. The way I see it is that we could (and do) do that any one of 365 nights and February 14th is always swamped wherever we want to go so why not choose a less busy night?
I'm looking for my inner athlete, but I'm afraid I may have eaten her. If I'm very quiet I can hear her screams of terror.
Hubs and I don't really do anything for the v-day... each year is different... sometimes cards, sometimes flowers or candy we share (I love both), sometimes nothing if $$ is tight. Besides we say "I love you." every single day of the year! But I do always get my kids a little something. :) I like all the v-day cutsey stuff. When my kids were in elementary I used to make gift baggies for their whole class each year. I think it's a fun day. :)
the plot for the film sounds familiar, I think I have seen it long ago.
As for valentines - I have a 7 year old, so we do some decorations and he makes some hand made cards to send his grandparents.
As for my DH and I, I hate chocolate. I love flowers, but hate to watch them die. My DH sometimes gets me a live plant to add to my garden. But every year we go out for dinner to celebrate. Not because it's Valentines, but because that happens to be the anniversary of the day he first declared true love!
“Do not let your fire go out spark by irreplaceable spark... Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real…. It is possible…. It’s yours. “ Ayn Rand (Atlas Shrugged)
My husband and I stopped celebrating Valentine's Day many many years ago. We both find it silly to use one day in the year to tell each other how much we love each other. There are 365 days in the year for that. I think flowers are a waste of money for the time that they live and chocolates are not an option for me ( i have no control on eating just ONE, sigh...) We'll be married 37 years this coming May. All that being said, I will buy him a small box of Ferrero Toscher, cause he can eat all the chocolate he wants and he enjoys a piece here and there. Definately no decorations at home. At work, yes, not me personally, but I work in a store.

I am so glad this week is nearly over. It's not been a good start to February for me and my family, but since we are all on the mend I expect Feb to just get better and better.
btw... do you decorate for Valentine's Day? I have before, often on Feb 1st I put it all out (usually just prettifying my dining room table plus a few little valentiney knick-knacks here and there) but this week has just been the pits. Maybe I'll put a little bit out this weekend.
Hmmm... have I posted Nightmare Castle before? I've not been keeping track of the movies we post and now I can't remember, seems like I have or at least thought about it sometime before.! :)
