We are taking two trips for sure - one to Georgia via air to take my son to see some family he has never met and one car trip to New Mexico to see his grandpa who is 89 now. I may also be squeezing in a trip to California in August - I have recently found my birth father's family and there is a big family event in August they want me to attend.
Renee what an awesome accomplishment for you daughter.

Having her art hang in public for a WHOLE YEAR is awesome!!!! Hopefully, you can do some fun stuff while your there, I always wanted to visit the Smithsonian.
Since our year no longer revolves around the school year we take our vacay in late September. All the kiddies are back in school and its not soon enough for them to beg a long weekend from M and D.
This year we are going to San Francisco. My husband has Grand Lodge there so his Lodge pays for our hotel. (SCORE!!!) My son lives in Sacramento so he usually comes up on a Saturday and spends the day with me. I really like San Francisco! I like all the little pockets of culture. AND this year, I wont be so dang blasted worn out from the hills because I will have been exercising for almost a whole year by then and I wont even notice that I'm not walking on flat ground!
We are going to Disneyland in NINE DAYS!!!!!! I cant wait!!!! Its my FAVORITE place ever!

I take my vacation during Halloween and early November. I don't go anywhere. I work on the house, go to the park & hike or have a day out with my daughter. I like being close to home. I go for day trips more than anything else.
You can't wait for motivation to strike; sometimes you need to dig deep into yourself and find the motivation on your own.
Probably not this year. sigh. But I have plans for the redwoods and yellowstone for next year. . Thought maybe we would just camp up at the lake near by and go fishing. Do some day trips. Living here in So. Calif. we have the beach, mountains, and amusement parks (knotts, disneyland, magic mt) near by to choose from.
We'll probably make a couple of treks to the coast and the redwoods this year, and possibly go to Crater Lake and do a dinner cruise on the river. All local stuff though. Congratulations to your daughter! What a cool honor.

We were hoping for a trip to Florida... or any beach :) but it doesn't look like that's going to happen this year. Money we had saved had to go elsewhere... life happens.
However, my daughter won our district's congressional art contest and she got 2 tickets to fly to D.C. to attend the opening of the national exhibition. Either her dad or I and she might end up doing that. Just wish they would have provided 3 tickets... both her dad and I want to go, but I it's not looking like we can swing an extra ticket. :/ (Hubs checked ... $ 600+ ???!!!) Plus we have to provide our own hotel. Anyhow, her art will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel in Washington, D.C. for a year. The Cannon Tunnel connects the Cannon House Office Building with the U.S. Capitol. The tunnel is the primary way Members of Congress, staff and visitors travel between the U.S. Capitol building and the three main House Office Buildings.
that's pretty cool. :)
