Not gonna happen in 5 days , however a long journey begins with one step . I joined anytime fitness a month ago and have only gone 6 times . I do not have any direction as far as where to begin so I am going to get a trainer . Where I went wrong last time I had a trainer wasn't because I wasn't working out . It was because I wasn't eating the calories I was supposed to . If getting in shape was easy everyone would be doing it . It takes WILLPOWER . You have to want it and know that it won't happen overnight . I'm 6' and 150 so I know exactly where you're coming from , Brad . Also , we need to do whatever we can to stay on track . If you justify missing a meal or a workout , it just spirals down until you aren't doing anything , which is what happened to me . Some say that's a mistake . We don't make mistakes ....we have learning experiences . Learn from it :)

Hey, Im really new here, and I dont know a lot about eating HEALTHY... Im 6'4" and 150lbs. One thing Ive been doing is when I dont feel that hungry I will take a spoon to some peanut butter and milk. for me, its easy calories. And I like the chunky cuz I THINK its better for you, right? I have dealt with this all my life. Im getting married in 5 days and I feel extremely self-councious of my body. Im trying to bulk up in the 5 days I have left. it feels good to see that there are others who struggle with my same problems.

OH I hate when people make skinny bashing comments! THey think it is OK AND IT IS NOT! They say I am lucky and I say no I am not. They also think being able to gain weight should be as simple as just "eating more and eating McDs". As much as I like fast food if I eat crappy food all the time I feel just as bad as over weight people.

Just got to the hotel and tomorrow another 13 hours of driving until okc , ok !!! After my visit with my brother for his 50th birthday party I would like to focus on working out again . I'm glad you found pillates ! Your success AMERS will be my motivation as well as everyone else posting . This forum I predict will be most helpful in bonding us with one goal .... to gain weight :)

Hello, Here I go again. I'm grabbing the metaphorical bull by the horns I've started back with Pilates and try to eat right still no where near the amount of calories I should be eating but my middle is firming up nicely. GREG711 Thanks for recommending Pilates I no longer have the fear of gaining weight in the wrong places. And you guys are right the best way to get the calories into me is by drinking them. I've also started keeping protein bars with me. It's the beginning of April good luck.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has tried Digestive Bitters for short term appetite increase. I came down with the stomach flu, lost all the weight Iíve worked so hard to gain and now currently have no interest in food. Iím frustrated! TEXASREDFERN Thanks, I have picked up a vitamin B complex, hope it helps my appetite. I also take maca and vit. E. I donít want to start mixing to many vitamins. I have started tracking my nutrition. It was an Eye opener for me as well. There are some days where I donít even come close to 1000 calories. And I'm extremely bad for skipping meals. Some days I wouldnít eat till noon and a small snack then supper. Iíve started keeping build eggs done up in the fridge add them to everything or just grab one on the go. I was eating protein with every meal and pasta with most. I find this hard because I donít care for pastas and not a big fan of breads. I also have started keeping out almonds to nibble on. I was doing well till I hit a ďbump in the roadĒ. (Stomach flu) Now I have to start all over again. I feel like the will power to force myself to eat more is gone. Still Not a 100% back to health maybe itíll come when I feeling more myself. Thanks again. Take care

Hi Lil-Amers, You asked about the specific vitamins that can increase appetite - basically the "B" vitamins. I think an overall good multivitamin and mineral like One-A-Day is a necessity these days and it does seem to give my appetite a boost. For added calories, I also like "Larabars". You can find them at most grocery stores or health food stores. Our HEB stocks them and so does Walmart. Grab your blender and whip up some smoothies with almond butter, frozen fuit, juice, milk. I do understand that without a hearty appetite, it is hard to eat enough food. Skipping meals is a real no- no. I eat every 3 hours and carry Larabars in my purse. Mild exercise will definitely stimulate appetite, but don't go overboard on high aerobics or you will burn too many calories. Pilates should be just right ! Have you used the Nutrition Tracker to see how many calories you are actually taking in? That was a eye opener for me. I wasn't taking enough calories to maintain my weight, let alone gain any pounds. I have been strugling with this low weight issue all my life and yes, people, do NOT understand that it is just as difficult as losing weight. That is why I love this group because everyone here DOES! Blessings

Hey, I haven't posted in awhile broke the screen on my netbook. Went to my public library picked up a book and DVD on Pilates. It is amazing. What a work out. I have a 100% flexibility and it was still a challenge and it's a beginners DVD. I didn't realize how out of shape I am. Pilates works every muscle in a short period of time. I enjoy yoga but Pilates is my new found obsession. Thanks for recommending it!

If there is difficulty eating calories then I would start drinking protein shakes to reach your goal , or when you don't have the time to make anything to eat . Eggs are good for protein too and cheap ( I really need to start working out and eating more myself as I have done nothing since the end of November ) . The guilt is starting to set in . I'm 6' 140 lbs. and I can relate to being skinny . I don't see any " biggest gainer " reality shows coming to the tv anytime soon so I guess it's just us :)

Iím just so excited to have finely found people that understand and can relate to being underweight. No one around me gets it and as for being a women I often hear thing like ďI hate you your so skinnyĒ I know they mean it as a compliment but it really does bother me. A struggle to gain is just as difficult as to lose weight and a lot of people donít realize this. Iíve heard of Pilates but never gave it much thought. If itís good core work Iím defiantly going to do some research and pick up a DVD. I do yoga, booty ballet & abs 5 times a week. But my toddlers attention span is short and usually ends up with them climbing all over me. But I keep trying. Like you said any workout is better than nothing.

Little Amers, I'm in the same boat. The only thing that seems to help my appetites is a multivitamin. Also make some smoothies with high calorie ingredients. I even put almond butter in my smoothies. I can drink a lot more calories than I can eat. Texasredfern

Sorry for being lazy with replying . I do know that the more muscle you have the more calories you burn so weight lifting might help on some level to increase your food intake . Almonds and other nuts are high in protein and contain healthy fats . I would document your weight and weigh yourself under the same circumstance for accuracy wearing pretty much the same type of outfit when you go to weigh yourself . I wouldn't do much cardio because you'll burn calories faster but I also speak from a guy's point of view . Maybe that goal is different for women . But anyways squats are probably good at building the butt and increasing muscle mass ( it's a muscle , right ? ) . My brother and his wife do pillates all the time and it's great for your core . And as far as when to work out ? Anytime you can fit it in is a good idea , any workout is better than nothing . I bought p90 but never used it because I live in an apartment building but I would like to think it would be perfect if you're home with the kids anyways . It's like p90x but it's the program for beginners . Once you can do that easy then you move on to p90x , then I guess p90x extreme . I hope I helped you gain insight . If you have the time and can swing a gym trainer in your budget for a month or however much time they should be able to give you way better direction than I ever could . I'll respond faster next time :)

Thanks for your input. Wows a pound a week donít know how Iím going to do that. Iíve started to keep track of what I eat and honestly it isnít a lot. Iíve never had much of an appetite. Iíve been trying to force myself to eat (even set timers to remind me every 3 Ĺ hrs.) To see if that will increase my appetite still no success, but itís only been a few days. My goal weight is only between 102 &105. Never been past 98lbs except when I was preggers and that was only 148lbs full term (babies were healthy weights). I donít look bad thin just would like a little more too me. I have a very tiny frame. How would I increase my appetite naturally?

I would start keeping track of what you eat on this site ( there's an app also ) . I would start eating more calories until you notice the upswing in weight . About a pound a week would be my goal . As far as incorporating the kids , maybe cardio ? I don't have kids so I can't help ya there lol . I know that world gym has a room where you can leave them to play while you work out and the membership is dirt cheap . Squats are good for building your ass as I need to start doing something myself . I'm 6' and 141lbs.

Hi, I'm under weight of course 5' 2" 92lbs I would like to gain 10 lbs by June. I'm all so a busy mom of 2 toddlers they keep me running. So what I do eat I burn off really fast. What kind of exercises can I do that I can incorporate my children into and that help me to gain the weight in the right areas of my body. I'm afraid of looking bloated. I don't have much of an ass so if a few lbs would live happily there I wouldn't mind. Any Ideas?
