corned beef marinated in ginger ale for 3 days and then cooked in it with mustard on tope potatoes cabbage and Irish soda bread and had rye bread for them me I dont eat anything but the boiled cabbage

I think the Holy Spirit led you to that prayer - it seems like it was just what you needed in your struggle with focus right now! God is so good!

edited to add - oops! Forgot - I was going to add that I'm sure the devil does *not* want you to continue in your prayer, or begin new prayer rituals or routines. That's the last thing he wants! Ask your guardian angel to help as well - our angels can always help us with those whispers from the devil that try to lead us astray.

I have been trying to be more motivated but i get distracted and lose my focus so fast. i also loose my focus when trying meditate or start a new prayer habit. i will not give up however because i am becoming more mindful of it so i am starting to get back on track,

I want my hour back tired but didnt get any sparking done so now I will .. been busy not only lost the hour but had to see the homebounds and had to go back after the hospital visits to all the sick there too my homebounds overslept UGh and had to finish packing up hubby checking on dad and finally got home tonight at 8:20pm left the house this morning at 6:45am

Nice day today. The time change hasn't bothered me SO FAR! It took me over 1 month to adjust in Nov., so I HOPE it won't take that long this time.
We went to a St. Patrick's Day parade. Lots of nice bands & bagpipes!
The Clydesdales were there, too. Beautiful horses.

Yesterday was beautiful after the snow storm on Friday. I was able to stick to meal plan, exercise,, etc. I am making progress and having the Sparkcalendar handy really helps me to see how I am doing. Have a blessed Sunday.

Did anyone get BLASTED by snow AGAIN? We are having another cold front. Probably the LAST one for the season, until NOV. or DEC.! LOL It is 59 right now & NIPPY outside~

We are going to the parade on Sunday, so I HOPE it stays cool(ish). It's tough to stand there when it's so HOT!

CJ, the book is True Devotion to Mary by St. Louis De Montfort. I am also using 33 Days to Morning Glory(A DIY Retreat in preparation for Marian Consecration) by Fr.Michael E. Gaitley, MIO. The 33 Days book is in simple English. The other book is very detailed and a bit cumbersome, but together I am learning so much, and understanding so much!
Going to be a rainy, cold day here in my part of NC.

IMREITE, when we pray for patience, we usually have something happen to develop it...LOL! Yes, I agree, God does have a sense of humor! I am so happy to know you are growing in your Faith! The more we converse with Him, the more we grow!
I am finding the path to total consecration to Mary a winding one... Each day I see something new I am to learn, I have the opportunity to practice a virtue, to trust in my Mother. Today is day 13. Right now, this consecration is my priority. Everything else is done as necessary, but my focus is on trusting my Mother, and in doing so, I am trusting Christ.
I really began this journey almost 6 years ago. I have always wanted to understand what the Immaculate Conception was about. I knew Mary watched over me. Now I am at the place where I am coming to understand what she asks of me. St. Louis De Montford's book is showing me answers. Anyone with questions about how and why we should be devoted to our Blessed Mother should read the book. It clarifies a lot of things.
My mind is in a bit of Faith overload. The things I am learning often take my breath away... my heart almost feels as if it would burst. I am grateful that what my mind takes in is able to be stored, and the Holy Spirit will reveal it as is needed. What a marvelous gift our minds are! We are created in His image, so we are capable of having His mind.
I pray for everyone this morning! May we all draw closer to God, and serve Him with joy today!

My Grandma had a coffee mug that said “Lord grant me patience and grant it to me now”. I though it was cute and matched her personality when I was a kid. I have some of those characteristics. I don’t sit still well and don’t like to wait. I tend to look for something to entertain me so I don’t have to sit ant be bored.

As I am trying to rediscover my faith I have remembered this mugs quote with a smirk but also as an interesting way to remember God’s sense of humor Even something funny can remind us to pray for God’s grace. When is start to get impatient, I think of this mug and decide to take the time to pray. Ironically I used top pray for patience. Now I sometimes take this time to say a prayer of graditude. To thank God for slowing my down and allowing my to appretiate what is important. Also to remembrer others that have needs that also need God’s Grace. Before I know it, my wait time is over and I find I would like some more time to wait and continue my conversation with God.

It is so HARD to lose a pet; but I think it's WORSE to lose a "service" pet. So often, the person who the service pet was provided for, doesn't understand what is going on or what happened to the pet. They REALLY FEEL the loss & many times, take out their frustration on those left behind. THAT is tough!

I'm sorry to hear about your dear service dog Melissa, Leah. As you said she was suffering blowing this disc, so you knew it was the right thing to let her go. As you said she really was good for helping your Husband.
None of us can really be to sure how we would react if we had a stroke either. I will be praying for you and your husband. I'm sure it is very hard for you too as you try to be helpful to your Husband.
I'm doing much, much better after the 5 days of the anti biotic called azithromycin. Actually the NPC I saw on Moday gave me the prescription, and just told me to gargle with warm salt water when I'd get up in the morning and going to bed at night. The first night went well but the 2nd & 3rd were coughinh sessions, when I went to bed. I did try the old vicks trick of greasing your neck and chest with it and applying a warm rag around my neck. It actually did nothing. I decided to call the clinic and the NPC working on the day I called suggested some herbal teas with honey, and also mentioned lemon and mucinex. I must say the last coule of days & nights went well. I also noticed Halls honey-lemon cough drops helped with keeping me from coughing at night or any other time. I know the thisNPC was really surprise that the one I saw Monday never suggested these other things. Thank you Leah!. Yes I'm feeling much better.
I will be going to Mass in the morning. Last Sunday I watched Mass on EWTN while my Husband went to Mass.

Life has been challenging lately... DH has not taken losing his dog, Melissa, too well. He cannot help his attitude, for the most part. The strokes make it hard for him to express his grief, and he "acts out" some. Melissa was really his service dog, as she let me know when he was having problems. She was only 7. She blew a disc, and was paralyzed. We did the right thing to let her go.
Looking forward to Reconcilliation and Mass today...

Feel better, Janis. My friend in Italy has been coughing for almost 4 weeks. It gets a LITTLE better, then starts all over again. I hope YOU won't have the same problem.

I have not been feeling up to par recently, and on Monday my Husband took me to a walkin Clinic. I have one more day of medication. I was coughing the last two nights. I sure hope tonight is different.Hope to be back here as usual real soon!

I've also wondered Andy when the Novena starts. I've checked through many of the posts, threads, subjects, and in the obvious of the upcoming Novena and have not been able to find it. I seem to remember probably a few weeks back that CJ or someone else mentioned February 29th. We won't know for sure until these wonderful Leaders in the Rosary Novena tell us for sure.
To you who usually see my posts I've felt under the weather, and yesterday my Husband took me to a walkin clinic. I began taking antibiotics yesterday about 3pm. I got a total of 6 pills in which I took 2 yesterday, 1 today and the other three to be taken on the next three days. I've had a sinus infection/ headcold with a case of larngitis. I've had very little energy. I really have felt lethargic. My voice is coming back, I'm getting rid of some of the congestion (slowly), but a side effect of the med is a headache. I'm fortunate that I'm only getting that one. I've been pretty much housebound. It's not nice when you feel like doing pretty much of nothing. I'm hoping that I can have my normal Wednesday tomorrow. I meet with a group of recovering women friends. I haven't seen them since the 13th. I also get my hair done, followed by a bit of grocery shopping. Because of weather & how I felt last week, I stayed home, and our priest had to cancel our Stations of the Cross, with closing Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. He has to trave 25 miles to our Church, so that's quite a ride altogether a 50 mile trip over bad roads. I'm hoping all will be good with tomorrow.

My mother died in May 2010. I KNOW I HEARD HER call my name on my first birthday after she passed away. I also believe she had a hand in reuniting me with a very good friend I had lost touch with over 30 yrs ago; bc she sent me a F/B message on my b'day in 2010. I think (& so does she) that our mothers got together in heaven & brought us back together!
My brother also feels my mother's presence around him.

The closeness we feel to a lost loved one NEVER goes away They are always with us!

One of the physical benefits I discovered this morning is that fasting on Friday leads to weight loss on Saturday. Now just to make sure I do not overindulge any other day.

Hi I have been dropping in here only occasionally , less recently. but I would like to share something that happened yesterday with you all. Day before yesterday evening Father was talking about his work with the sick as a chaplain. he talked quite a bit about how people were comforted by the prayer shawls our group makes for the patients at the hospital. I was kind of weepy afterward thinking about my mooms death this September. Yesterday I was thinking about her microwave fish technique and could not remember what she said. It made me very sad that I had not paid more attention to her words. a little later after arriving at her house to do some cleaning out the first thing I came across in a cigar box filled with expired coupons and used lottery tickets was a card about microwaving fresh fish. Do you think it was her or the Holy Spirit saying she is still there for me ?

The a/c is back on. It got up to 82 today & should reach 86 on Sunday! LAST Sunday it was in the 40's! CRAZY WEATHER! Praying for all those in the Midwest who are getting BLASTED by more snow! Be SAFE!

It was overcast & 82 here today!

Saw Lisa tonight! Her cheeks are swollen like a chipmunk! She had 8 teeth pulled & it took a long time for the Dr to clean out the infection in her cheek by her eye. She has a LOT of stitches in her gums & the roof of her mouth! It is QUITE painful. I really felt bad for her.
Please keep praying for her to get some RELIEF! Thanks!

I did not go anywhere today other than to go outside in our back yard to feed the variety of birds, and of course the squirrels come to take more than their share.
I am very reluctant to drive on the snow covered/icy roads. There have been so many accidents because of people driving to fast, some making careless decisions, and I'm sure some can be caused in white-out conditions. I do not want to be driving in any of that. I'm so thankful my husband has been driving me to appointments because of the roads. I would be rescheduling. This coming Monday I have the bone density test. I've aleady cancelled 2, and my Husband would've taken me but stormy weather was the forecast. My Husband is takeing me to an appointment tomorrow & Friday.
I 'm so looking forward to SPRING!
It should be coming pretty soon! Spring!

Snowed all day here... And only added up to 3/4"! Way to warm for snow but sure makes pretty flakes - up to 1 1/2" in diameter. So beautiful, but then I stayed in the house all day. Smile.

Thank you everyone for the prayers. Lisa is home RESTING! My husband brought her flowers; but I stayed home. She REALLY wasn't in the mood for "company"!

People drive like MANIACS around here when the SUN IS SHINING! They pull out in front of you & STOP, they back out of parking spots WITHOUT LOOKING, they have NO IDEA what a "turn signal" is, they cut you off left & right & THEN SHOOT YOU THE BIRD!

Barb, I certainly will keep your Sister-in-law Lisa in my prayers. I will be thinking of her, and praying for her.
Speaking of the carelessness of others when the road conditions aren't all that great, I feel if people drove more carefully there would definitley be less tragedies, or less serious injuries.

People drive CRAZY no matter WHERE you live & it seems the WORSE the road conditions are, the WORSE THEY DRIVE! Sometimes I think we would be better off with CHIMPS behind the wheel!

My husband's sister Lisa is having surgery tomorrow. Please say a few prayers for her.

Hi Dee! We're suppose to get blowing & drifting snow, sometime during this night, lasting into all day tomorrow. I don't think it will be the greatest Wednesday, so if that be the case, I'll be staying home. I do have Doctor appointments on Thursday & Friday. I thank the Lord that my Husband will be doing the driving unless it's bad those day. They are actually showing a sun shiney day for Thursday. There have been so many accidents. I do believe it's because too many people drive like they would in the summer time. I'm a bit afraid to go much of anywhere when the roads are snow covered and slippery. Why do people have to put so many others in jeopard with their carelessnessWe had 35 degrees today DEE. My Husband was kind to take me today for an appointment. If he would've deciced not to take me, I would've been understanding about it, but I just have no desire to drive on icy roads. Unless they are an emergency appointment, this girl will cancel if I'm the driver!

Thank you so much for praying for Lizzy and Little... I spoke with her last night for a couple of minutes which set off a massive coughing jag... She sounds horrid but still positive. She's like her momma and grandmom - a fighter - we don't give up but can get discouraged for a time. I'm so hoping our SIL will be able to get there for her. Meantime the Reverse gear on her vehicle went out and she'd brought 2 other women with her. Must get Suburban fixed and ladies home (1 is 8 1/2 mos pregnant with 4 kids at home - the other has 4 kids). Lizzy is feeling responsible for them.
