I agree with having more Tridentine Masses available for those who wish to celebrate in that form. It is obvious from this thread that not all who wish to have the opportunity.

I agree that the newer mass is a beautiful ceremony and that having a choice of mass is a good thing. However, IMHO, a strict reading of Vatican II says that a mass in the local vernacular is meant to allow everyone to truly understand what is being said in the mass; what it was not meant to do was to fully replace the Latin mass in every church. That said, I would like to see the Latin mass come back so that all individual Catholics have access to a Tridentine mass if it is their choice to attend a Latin service. Again, not to fully replace the Novus Ordo mass but merely to supplement our current options.

MIAJOEB - I love the "newer" Mass, too.
I would like to experience a Tridentine Mass, though. I converted to the Faith as an adult, and have never experienced the pre-Vatican II MAss. My friends who have tell me it is a wonderful experience.

Recently, one of our bishops gave permission to have some Masses per month as Tridentine ones. Parishioners from all over the city were requesting, and are very pleased with the decision.

No love it in english, spanish, italian, chinese.. Love the priest facing us.
Love the ritual as it exists today for today. So many Catholics did not know the readings were from the Bible! They just showed up and never learned what it meant. It is a problem.
Just my opinion.. don't get mad. I love the church.. Why not have different parishes have what makes their people happy, within the confines of the laws of the Church.. I always t follow the laws as stated by the POPE AND THE BISHOPS.

Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things:... Psalm 98

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though... we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day my day....So fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal

Far as I know there is no latin Mass around anywhere near me. I, too miss it and would like to be able to go to Latin Mass again. I am thinking of asking our parish priest if it would ever be possible in our parish. Most of us living around here are of retirement age, so I think it would be worth trying to see if enough interest here. Thanks for bringing it up.

I love the latin Mass. I still say all the responses quietly in Latin. I get some appreciative glances from parishioner's once in while even though I thought I was speaking only to myself. I guess this is a case of once an alter boy, always an alter boy.

We have had 2 Sunday Masses recently with portions of them in Latin. I enjoyed it, brought back "Gregorian Chant" memories from high school.

Does anyone go to the Latin Mass? I had the opportunity to go to a Latin mass last week for Sunday mass while I was traveling. It was such a beautiful mass, I wish that it was offered somewhere closer to where I live. If you go to that form often, does it change how you see it? From the eyes of a first time EFer, it was humbling to see the service as it has been for hundreds of years and yet it was pretty mystifying/confusing at times. I wish it would come back and am disappointed that the tradition has disappeared from so many areas.
