better to think than eat too much,
better to exercise than to sit too much.

Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things:... Psalm 98

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though... we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day my day....So fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal
2 COR 16-18

Just for Today I will keep the Holy Spirit in my thoughts and ask for His guidance in all I do.

I've been thinking about this lately. I think that I overeat because I selfishly like food too much. Recently I read a chapter from Fulton Sheen's Victory Over Vice. He illustrates how our selfishness is connected to the seven sins of sloth, lust, anger, envy, etc. Thanks for reminding me to pray to the Holy Spirit.

I never thought of it this way---great insight and great prayer! 'Food for Thought!'

All in good time...and with the help of my friends.

Today: I pray to shift the way I approach life, to move deliberately and consciously, to become attentive.

SparkPeople editor Stepfanie says:
At some point you realize that life is just that: life. Ups, downs, good, bad, it's all just life. It all balances out, and letting every little bump in the road sideline you is no way to live.

I am not sure when i first read this but it was probably here but I believe it is worth sharing again.

Selfishness is the problem for me. I say, "My overeating is not because of deep emotional needs. I eat because I enjoy food," but am I really saying, "I don't want God to tamper with my appetite. I don't want to change. I don't want to face and deal with what is hurting me, what is causing me to hurt my temple?" I don't like the idea of discipline or the godly fruit of self-controlóbut God's will is to free me from selfishness. He wants the arms of self-control to wrap around me in "a great big hug," keeping me safe. There is the key to dynamic abundant living; obedience. The Bible tells us in Galatians 5;23 that evidence of the Holy Spirit's working in our lives is self-control. I must learn how to hear the Lord and how to obey Him when He gently urges, "Don't eat that, eat healthy and exercise" I must allow the Holy Spirit to take hold of the reins of my appetite. Make a commitment and give my worries to the Lord. Give every negative thought and worry to the Lord. Worry is, and always will be, a fatal disease of the heart, for its beginning signals the end of faith. Worry intrudes on God's compassionate ability to provide. When we allow our problems to overshadow God's promises, we unknowingly, doom ourselves to a defeat that was never part of God's eternal plans. Release the regrets of yesterday, refuse the fears of tomorrow and receive instead, the peace of today. Simply let go and let God be God. I am called to be a healthy abundantly living obedient woman of faith. With Christ's strength I will live an abundantly healthy obedient life. Yes I am afraid and I have worries but I am talking about them with God and working on giving them all to Him. Thank you God, Jesus and Holy Spirit, thank you for being there for me 24
