I, too, find small self-sacrifices much easier during Lent, or if I am fasting for a reason. When I do it 'on my own', though, I'm not so good at it!

Thanks for the second link, ANDROMEDA. You are finding some good stuff!

I, too, did not know about the reason we have ham for Easter dinner! Interesting.

I made Easter cookies today. The kids agreed that they enjoyed that thing from the 50 choices! They are certainly my children. I sure have a weakness for cookies!

I am also pretty good at observing lent. I always do better giving things up when I'm doing it for lent than for other reasons. For example, I gave up certain types of food for Lent but have found an amazing lack of willpower to avoid these foods after lent.

Thank you, ANDROMEDA1967, for the article. emoticon I found it very interesting...I was not aware of the real reason why ham is the traditional Easter Meal. The article mentioned the "somberness" of Lent...could that be why I am so good at observing Lent? Then when Easter comes it is kind of like I miss Lent, and am not ready to rejoice and celebrate. Something for me to reflect on...

Thanks, again. God bless our Team.

Praise the Lord is right, Kathy!! Congrats!! emoticon

A comment struck a cord with me...I feel I am really good at observing Lent and being "focused", but not so much with celebrating Easter as I should.

Yes, one of our weekend assistant priests mentioned (a few years ago) that in Ukrainian (I think) they would greet each other on Easter with "He is Risen" and the other person would respond "He is Truly Risen"

Congratulations, MayKat!!! Our priest told us that in the Byzantine Rite on Easter they say, "The Lord has risen" and you respond, "Indeed He has risen". So.....INDEED HE HAS RISEN!

Also, don't forget the Divine Mercy Novena that started this weekend and ends on Divine Mercy Sunday.

How wonderful MayKat. What a lovely blessing to be confirmed on Easter Sunday.

Thanks Andromeda for posting these links. I'd never heard of the 50 days of Easter either, so this is a great opportunity for me to learn about how I can continue the celebration.

All the best everyone,
Trinity

Along with 15 others, I was confirmed in the Church last night at the Easter Vigil. Father Walsh blessed me with the Chrism Oil and with the presence of the Holy Spirit. Praise The Lord! He is risen!

A smile can make it all feel a little better. So, I go and smile at myself in the mirror. Shallow or what? But it works... My name is Kathy and I'm Pennsylvania.

Thanks! I've never heard of the 50 days of Easter before, so I've learned something.
I can do the flowers and wear more white, gold, and red. I live alone so some of the ideas wouldn't work for me, but I'll do my best to keep the spirit of Easter alive!

Wonderful ideas! Thanks for posting these, ANDROMEDA!

We sometime have an 'Easter Challenge', wherein we try to continue the celebration for the 50 days.

I am going to try some of these good ideas - I especially like the family activities, candles, and flower ideas. Adding Alleluias is great too.

I also want to continue the things I was doing for Lent - praying in the church before work each day, and reading from the Bible.

Today at mass, the priest mentioned how we all do a good job at penance and sacrifice for Lent but we do a lousy job at celebrating Easter. The church gives us 50 days to celebrate easter. In view of that, here are some links to give everyone ways to celebrate the Easter season, all the way until Pentecost!

What will you do to celebrate easter for the next 50 days?
