How true, Bob! I agree with you that we can use Lent to find renewed strength for reaching our health goals. When we realize that our bodies really are temples of the Holy Spirit, and that God wants us to care for this body that houses our eternal soul, that motivates us to be strong and make the right choices. I often find that things I can't seem to do just to lose weight, I can do if I am offering a sacrifice to the Lord in reparation for sin, or for our world, or just to adore Him. Thanks for sharing the articles.
Dee and Mareannie, I'm glad you liked the prayer!
"I sing your praise, God, my King; I bless your name forever and ever!" Ps. 145
"If you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul, you shall find Him!" (Dt. 4:29)
Of course, first we have to survive Mardi Gras/Carnival! When I was a kid, the days before Lent were for eating every cookie and piece of candy in the house so we were ready for Lent. Can't do that anymore! But Lent is still a wonderful time to meditate on the connection between healthy living and healthy religion, between our weight loss goals and our spirituality. Lent isn't "just for losing weight" but it can be a time for celebrating the holy beauty of loosing weight.
