Our pastor has read nothing at all. My husband and I were discussing our disappointment with this. Of course, this is the same parish that skims over issues with the kids on CCD, so I am not surprised. The only priests that you will hear speaking up are those who are faithful to all the church's teachings, and those are usually religious congregations. The parish priests have less formation than the religious orders.

I keep on sending the letters, mostly through email to my congressmen, letting them know of my total shock and dismay at the total lack of regard for 1st amendment rights supposedly protected by our Constitution and upheld by our 3 branches of govt. Once I get a canned reply, I just turn up the volume. Don't let them off the hook by sending out the auto reply and going merrily along with their disregard for the constituency. Pray, but take action, too. Anyone else had their parish priest neglect to read the letter from our bishops concerning this latest Obama/HHS travesty? I am very concerned about the lackadaisical attitude of many of the priests these days. It scares me to think that even some of our religious leaders are supporting this president and his total disregard for life of the unborn and pushing contraception and abortifacients down our throats.
I do not get why the government thinks they can tell employers that they must provide something that violates their conscience.
I would like to use your letter to send it to my representative and senator. Not that it will do a lot of good. Elijah Cumming, Barbara Mikulski, and Ben Cardin are who I am stuck with. You would think Mikulski would be more responsive, being a Catholic, but like Governor O'Malley, she is a Catholic only in name.
And I don't even get to vote to turn them out ... our senators are not up this cycle and Cummings runs effectively unopposed.

don't feel alone. i sent a letter to my reps (house and senate) in washington last may (that would be 2011) just got a response back about 3 weeks ago. said they shared my concerns and thanked me for my interest. what a waste of paper and postage.
WOW! I am impressed-I see nothing more but if he's a jerk anyway, he'll find something to avoid talking about. WHY cannot people see how dumb this whole thing is??? Like you said in your letter-it doesn't have to be about the religious aspect(which of course it is since they are being sure to include the Catholic health services), it just does not make sense. Then again-government hasn't made sense in quite some time...it's just getting dramatically worse these past 3 yrs....OY! I seriously think it's amazing that God hasn't wiped us out yet. Surely , Soddom and Gomorrah were not as bad as this?
I sent emails to my congress/senators about the "Respect for Rights of Conscience Act". I got a can response from 1 senator that did NOT address part of my issue. I already know that this person is known for not being respectful to people with ethical/religious concerns. so i wrote a 2nd response that i tried to explain my issue without wording the religious issue, but saying that "Affordable Care Act" is another way the government gets more involved with our lives, takes away our choices and will make health care more expensive
Below is my response: **************************************** *********************
I make several decisions in my life to live a healthier lifestyle. I make choices to avoid behaviors and try to avoid using chemicals (drugs/tobacco) but yet I am still required to pay a lot more for my insurance because other people drink, smoke, have a bad diet, refuse to exercise, have unprotected sex, etc. With government regulations, my employer is not allowed to provide me with inexpensive insurance that provides for what I need.
Why does government feel the need to take away my fights and mandate that i pay for coverage I DO NOT WANT, DO NOT USE , and CHOOSE TO NOT USE? In other words, why will the "Affordable Care Act" have to make insurance so much more expensive which ironically will mean many people will pay more for Care?
