I didn't care for the granny smith apples in the butternut squash recipe. They got mushy too fast. I think I overcooked it which I am a pro at doing. After Thanksgiving a made a more savory version with butternut squash, onion, red bell pepper, and pecans and I liked that much better.

We are having dinner at my daughter's house. I'm taking a turkey with stuffing in my roaster. They will be deep frying a turkey, I won't be having any of that. We will have a nice veggie tray to snack on before dinner so we won't overload on the bad stuff during dinner. It is a day to splurge a little and then get right back on the wagon, eating the good turkey leftovers for a week. I will even let myself have a piece of pie.

This year I am making some changes. My kids love the traditional foods but I am not going to make so many starches, I am having salad and lots of veggies in all different colors. Not a lot of fat but with olive oil. I love garlic too! The potato pie will not be loaded with butter and cheese this year. I am going to try a new sweet potato pie that is really pretty too! oops
