Well said!
Thank you for posting.

I liked the Bible verses you talked about. My favourite is similar, "Come to me all who are heavily-laden, and I will give you rest."

The amazing part about our faith is that God is LOVE. God will forgive everyone who is truly sorry. I know, it's scary to go in front of a priest you may know well and just confess your sins to him, but I promise you will be rewarded. I was afriad to go to Reconciliation, however, last year, I took a Sacraments class at school, and it showed me the truth of Reconciliation. Remember the bible verse: "Repent and be glad."Also, remember the verse: "Do not be afraid."

You willl feel amazing after you tell your sins to the priest. It's like God opening the door to the Kingdom. Also, once you repent, you'll no longer be a slave to sin. Everything will be fine. It's between you, God, and the priest. God loves you and wants you to be able to enter his Kingdom and once you repent, he'll be waiting with open arms.

I hope this helped!

''Strive to be a virtuous person who does everything for the glory of God."

IAJOEB - I pray that you will find a great confessor once again.

WANNAREAD - my heart aches for you. Just remember, Jesus desires their conversion of heart even more than you do!

JESUSLOVR - woo-hoo! What great news! All praise be to God! HE is so good.

I went to confession on Saturday, Sept 17th. As with many other things, it wasn't as bad as I anticipated. Went to a parish that is not my own and to a young priest in his forties. I didn't know the Act of Contrition, but turns out, I really didn't need to. The priest asked if I was sorry for my sins and if I would try to do better. I was absolved. That was it.

The priest I felt comfortable with moved to another state.
My parish priests are in their fourties and it is like going to confession to one of my sons.
This Saturday I am going to travel to another parish and give another parish priest a try.
I need to feel safe and not rushed like I do at my parish.
I love our prists by the way for everything else... they are truely holy men.

Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things:... Psalm 98

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though... we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day my day....So fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal

JESUSLOVR - I will pray for you as you make your confession tomorrow. Ask Our Blessed Mother to pray for you. She always brings us closer to her Son. Also, ask your guardian angel to help you as well. Remind yourself that Jesus is the one that hears your confession. The priest is just His instrument. Hopefully, you will get a kindly and compassionate priest who will guide you through the process. Most are like that, so I am sure you will find someone who will help you.

May God bless you now and always!

MARRRBO - I do not know what happens in that situation. I will research and get back to you.

That is one of the many great things about Reconciliation - we can go wherever we feel the most comfortable - lots of great advice here for sure!

I have heard about bad experiences with confession. Priests are people and have bad days or some have bad dispositions. I would find a priest you trust. I, personally, like the face to face method. I am sure there is nothing you can tell them that they would be so shocked that it would be awkward to be face to face.

My parish priest is not the best spokes person, but he is a nice guy and easy to tell a confession to.

My story:
I had gone 6 or 7 years between confessions, I finally get around to going and I can hardly understand a word the priest is saying. I somehow got through it, I understood something to the effect of doing some Hail Marys.

My priest is one of my best friends. I agree, we all need to go to confession on a regular basis. I hope that your priest can be a "friend" to you and make you feel better and forgiven for your sins. I love the quote from Mother Theresa, "It is an insult to God to think that your sins are greater than His mercy".

I am uncomfortable with this too.
But I am wondering- and this is off the subject a little...... how is confession handled with an extremely hard of hearing person?

Actions speak louder than words.

I have struggled with Reconciliation too. I am a recent convert, and was just baptized last Easter vigil. I put off going to Reconciliation because I wasn't comfortable going to the priest I saw every day too. I did a lot of research online, and found a couple good booklets about it at a Catholic bookstore: "Confession, A Little Book for the Reluctant" by Msgr. Louis Gaston de Segur and "How to go to Confession When You Don't Know How" by Ann M.S. LeBlanc. I ended up going to another parish and found a wonderful priest who is very caring and talks me through the process. The important thing is to go. It is such a wonderful sacrament. It is a way to heal and grow closer to God. God already knows what is in your heart. Tell the priest about your concerns and anxiety, and speak what you feel. If it doesn't feel right, try another priest. It will get easier over time, and you will feel so much better after you get it out.

God's grace, peace and blessings to you!

Don't do face to face confession the first time. It'll help you focus on the sin more than the priest, so then you focus on healing.

Also, just breathe deep. No priest should ever yell at you, and they won't if they know compassion and mercy.

What to do when you're feeling so bad about your sin that you are too ashamed to go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation? When I was a kid, the priests that I went to for this yelled at me and made me feel small--and scared. Maybe that's what I'm remebering. I know I'll feel so much better to finally get rid of this nonsense. I'm going to go to a different parish for my reconciliation so I don't have to face the priest at my parish. I'm going this coming Saturday. Has anybody else ever felt like this? What do others do about this Sacrament? We're all sinners, I know, yet I feel like all eyes are going to be on me until I get rid of this junk.
