I've had veggies growing all through Winter as we don't have snow and a big freeze here. They should be ready for harvesting by the end of September, hopefully, and the other veggies will be ready to plant again after the cold part of Spring is gone.

I've got so much to do outside but my arm is limiting me with a lot of stuff. it's really getting up my nose being held back like this

And we are about ready to put our beds to rest over here---but not for another month. At least here. I will be planting winter pansies by the end of September---the bad thing is that I hate to pull up my vinca while they are still blooming---might pot them for a bit if I do pull them up---but I like my front border beds to have those pansies in them all winter---whenever we have a warm spell, they rebloom and always look so nice in the spring.

They tried that one over here as well, they ended up paying out if only a percentage of the cover.

The worst is when you have experts on one side saying it's flash flooding and another bunch of clever bums on the other saying it's riverine flooding. This is where the government bodies should step in.

Our ride on mowers have decided to have a heart attack again, probably something simple but it always happens when you need to use them. I have some more raised beds to put up and some seeds to plant now that Spring is on us here.

I hate dealing with insurance companies. I live in hurricane country, so we all learned more than we ever wanted to know about how they work after Hurricane Katrina. The main theme around here was that unless you had a witness that could testify that your house was damaged/destroyed by wind before the storm surge came through, it was assumed that it was the water and they refused to pay a cent. Even here along the coast, a lot of people didn't have flood insurance unless they lived right along the beach or in an area that had flooded before. Most people who flooded lived in areas that had never flooded. It was a real mess.

I have a four-day weekend this week, so I'm determined to do some yardwork (slowly, though, because of the heat). I got one flowerbed cleaned out (raking, pulling weeds, trimming bushes, cutting saplings, etc.). I was also able to bag the stuff I pulled and take the bags and the saplings and limbs out to the curb. One of the hardest chores today was that I needed to fix the brick border. The bricks were in sideways/longways and had gradually sunk into the ground so that they were too low for me to put mulch in the bed. I had to pull each one out and readjust it. I had to actually use my feet in a few places to push on the brick to loosen it. Now that I'm inside, all cleaned up and have a good dinner underway (oven-BBQd chicken, corn on the cob and a green salad) I feel good--I actually got something accomplished. I just hope I can get some more done tomorrow.

'Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -- WOW -- what a ride!

They aren't allowed to deny you insurance over here (unless you tell lies on your application etc) and public opinion and our ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commision) won't allow overcharging for items as they are a Government appointed consumer advocate. We also have State Ombudsmen for all sorts of things and they keep greedy companies in check.

I fail to see why a company would go into the business of insurance then deny people who happen to have claimed once or so. That's what they are there for.

Here in the states they can give you a quote and then turn down your application at the price and offer you a higher one or not at all---according to your risk factor---those people who have had their homes destroyed in forest fires often have a hard time finding anyone to cover them and when they do the prices are super high.
Legs felt a lot better yesterday after the PT on Wed. but then I twisted wrong and pulled a muscle below the shoulder blade in my back so I hurt from that all day---at least is feels better today---not perfect but better---going to take more meds before I leave and then at lunch as I really need to cut the grass when I get home today.

No problems here with the internet, but I'm half a world away!!

Barb can you not get quotes on the internet?? I did that when I was looking around until I found the one I liked, then I like to finalize it face to face so to speak at least on the phone.

Rained all night last night and I swear my broad beans have grown 6 inches overnight. I also noticed I have cauliflowers in the centre of my plants about the size of a golf ball, won't be long now 'till I am eating cauliflowers and kohl rabi.

I'm so afraid that might happen. I have not heard back from the insurance company I contacted yesterday. They were supposed to get with me on quotes on the house. They gave me quotes on the 2 vehicles and found out we can get the same insurance on them for half of what we had been paying. So hoping they will cover us on our house as well now.

Having trouble with the internet today. Wondering what gives with that. Yahoo groups have been weird and then my emails have been too. Facebook and here seems to do ok. ???? Anyone else having problems.

What gets me about insurance companies is that they up your cost when others are the ones with the problems.
Von, lucky for you you could go with another insurance agency---but some people have trouble when that happens.

Well that sounds par for the course Barb with insurance companies.

The company I've had my house and contents insurance with (for years!!) doubled the cost of the premium this year. Not because I claimed in 2009 with the bushfires, but because up in Queensland (half a continent away) they have had floods for a couple of years running. A hundred or so dollars up I can handle but it went from @$1200.00 to nearly $3000.00. I ended up telling them don't bother sending me any more notices and I insured with my bank for @$1100.00 for the same coverage.

They don't mind taking your money but when you try to claim some of it back that's when the friendship ends.

I'm not a fan of drugs for things like "anxiety attacks) etc. We all get things like that from time to time and in the end you just have to learn how to work your way through them, these days there seems to be a pill for everything ....... except stupidity and look how many stupid people there are??

Well I think I solved the problems of everyone asking for figs. Since I had posted the photos on my Facebook. I went back and posted that we did NOT have figs to give away or sell and not to ask.

had a rough day today. Things went well at the Art guild board meeting but our house insurance dropped us. We have house and 2 trucks covered with State Farm insurance and have been with them since before Sonny and I married so close to 40 years. They dropped us as we filed for theft of property back in 2006 and again this year and so they dropped us. Since the DH is a veteran we can get both truck and house insurance with USAA for a heck of a lot cheaper so we are switching now. It is really the pits. Then one of the DIL's is thinking of putting her 10 year old on Zoloft for anxiety attacks. I tried and tried to talk her out of it as it can cause thoughts of suicide in children. I am so upset over it.

Well off to finish tracking'

Hi--I'm back from vacation. We had 3 weeks of camping in the high Sierras and had a wonderful, restful time. Came back to some issues, though: washing machine on the fritz and DH had to order parts that won't be here until tomorrow--then he has to install them, and he's working out of town for the rest of the week. Fortunately, I have kids who live close and I can use their machines. Still, it has held up the process of getting all the camping stuff washed and stored.

VON, we live next door to what used to be a commercial peach orchard. The former owner lost his sight and had to sell it and the new owners have just let it go. We never planted our own fruit trees because he always gave us the culls that couldn't go to market (my kids picked for him). DH has been planting a small orchard for us for the past 3 years, but we're wishing we had planted it 10 years ago! Our neighbor retained the land around their house, which still has several fruit trees on it and his widow is very generous with the neighbors. Once she has what she wants, she calls around and lets some of us come and pick. She can't leave the fruit on the trees or the bears will break the limbs down to get it--so if we can pick it clean, it helps her too. I would NEVER presume, though! I wouldn't care for anyone presuming upon my orchard, either! I think I would return a message to the ex-dil saying, "I will put your name on the list for figs and if there are any left when we get to you, I'll give you a call."

Seriously, I might have a talk with Haley when the time is right--or the next time she drops by to get free fruit--and suggest that she might want to come by and visit so you two can get to know each other, since you never had the opportunity while she was growing up. Hopefully, she's not so rude as to assume she has a right to expect these things from you. If she gets to know you a little, she'll know better than to behave that way. If she doesn't want to give you any time, or to build a relationship, I'd tell her that the garden is already spoken for~ Sheesh! It would be nice to be able to get to know your g.gr.daughter, though.

I don't have ADHD but I don't like sitting for any length at the movies either. Nevermind the fact they are not cheap and they are often way too loud for me.

I haven't been to the movies in years. I find I can't sit still long enough and it really has to be a good one for me to sit through an entire showing. I'm not one to eat popcorn but do have to have a bottle or 2 of water. I think my problem with not going to the movies is that I have ADHD and can't sit that long without doing something else along with watching. I've gotten so used to stitching or doing something while watching tv that it feels funny to just sit there.

Well that little spell I had yesterday has really upset my inner system. So hanging close to the house today. I have a busy Wednesday coming up.

Nothing much on the home front at the moment, had a snooze in this morning which is a change and I feel pretty good. Have some housework I have to do and some stuff outside with some potted plants. Have got to start planting some Tomato seeds in my mini greenhouses so they are ready for planting in October/November.

Spring starts here on Sunday the 1st September and the weather is already starting to get warmer.

I ended my movie marathon going to the show after work to see "The Butler"
I like going by myself, no one to distract me, only my hands are in the popcorn and if I'm not enjoying it I can leave. It was a great movie

Sounds yummy Barb

GardenGirl, I bought Olympus Has Fallen a month ago at a local market and I've watched it 3 times so far. I loved it, pretty bloody but all the baddies come to a sticky end.

Went to the market again today and got 2 seasons of Game Of Thrones for $50.00 I'll get the first one for @$20.00 next week. Might buy a box of Mandarins and preserve them next week hopefully

Been a busy few days. Worked at the gallery on Thursday and then Dh and I did our marathon shopping on Friday. Went to local village where one of my DIL's was having a yard sale and spent time visiting with her and her cousin and then other DIL came out with Miss Molly to pick figs. This morning has been church and out to a DILs to take her more apples and get our drag for the tractor. Now cooking a nice southern meal..Pork roast that has been smoking since this morning, pinto beans, fresh tomatoes and my cornbread which could be considered a meal if I added sausage or something. I put whole kernel corn, jalapeno peppers, bell peppers, whole onion, every little cornmeal really but everyone loves it. My DH hated cornbread until I made it for him and now he asks for it. Then going to try to work on my studio clean up. I have been stalled for 2 weeks due to other things that have come up that needed my attention more.

I'm having a mini movie marathon! I watched "The Call" ( suspense with Halle Berry) and "42" (the Jackie Robinson story)
Both were really good!

Next I'm watching " Olympus has Fallen" and "Smashed".

People like that should never be allowed to have animals. My dh likes to watch those animal rescue shows on---they just make me sad and mad.
Well, I had to turn the ac back on---I would have been okay but my dh would have fussed when he got home as it was getting warm in here.

Cathy I know I am strange but really don't want anyone else picking here as many are so destructive. Years ago we decided to have some come pick our blueberries if they wanted and they about destroyed our bushes so never again. People won't take care of something that isn't theirs.

Barb as for having neighbors that close we don't...and our fence line is a barbwire fence. But our one neighbor used to give us fits. She wanted Sonny to put up a new fence to keep her goats, cows and pigs in on her side. Get real!!!! He would do the work and pay for the materials to keep her animals corralled. Ain't gonna happen. So then she had this cow that would jump the fence and tromped down and ate all our strawberries one year. I would call her and leave her notes. This was a huge cow and she kept it on a cable to try to keep it from getting out. The poor thing had nothing to eat so was why it kept coming over. It would break the cable and jump the fence. After it finally demolished our strawberry patch and I had called the sheriff's department 3times. They came out and gave her a warning ticket. Then she accused us of opening her gate and letting the cow out. Another time she had a calf and literally let it starve to death one winter. It froze standing up in water. We turned her in. Well after that she tried to turn us in every time one of our dogs barked. She had guineas and they would wake us all night long. We kept telling her to keep them penned up and away from our yard. Finally the wild dogs and coyote's caught them all and of course she blamed our dogs. And they might have been in on it. But figured it was fair game if she couldn't keep them put up. She had a dog she kept chained up and he would bark and howl all the time. Think the other neighbors got rid of it. But she hasn't had any animals in a long long time now. thank goodness.

Gardengirl I love succulents but have a hard time growing them. We have an over abundance of rabbit foot ferns. So we are just making more pots and hanging across the front of our porch and under our gazebo. It is the one fern that thrives well here.

Just being busy around the house today.

I probably would have sent back a smart aleck remark to that request---kind of like if you want some then you have to come pick them after we are finished getting the ones we want at the end of the season. LOL
2 more days of summer break---going to go watch my gd this morning. Have a good day!

Garden Girl I know what you mean. I'm a bit like that at the moment I have so many big plans as to what to do but I know I can't do them with a crook arm.

Barb and Barb!! I've been lucky and had great neighbours throughout my life, but I don't think I would put up with someone chucking garbage over the fence. Some people have no class at all and you're right Barb manners are all but invisible these days. If somebody forgets to say thank you I always say "your welcome" to see what they say, there is not excuse for being rude.

Chiropractor and grocery shopping today and hopefully little else. The weather has been atrocious, hail, rain and just plain miserable. I think we're gettting a weather system straight from the Antarctic at the moment

I walked through out local fair's flower show. Next year I'm taking a notebook so that I can write down some of the varieties of my favorite plants. There was a design section and an unusual planter section - I loved some of the ideas for succulent gardens. I have more dreams and inspirations than I do money or energy!

Haha, we all need to rant and sometimes we can't say it to the people we want to say it to because it would cause rifts that we don't want, like someone getting update that we do want in our lives. My neice's friends are always hinted for the produce from her garden, homemade jams and preserves. I'm sure it is a joke but that also it is meant in half seriousness., hoping.

I sold that place 13 years ago but they were neighbours for 21 years. They would stand on ther deck and throw their garbage into my yard, build up the dirt on their side so that it rotted and pushed over the fence, then when I asked them about helping to fix the fence, they went ballistic saying it was my side to fix. Glad I'm gone.

I'm tackling sorting my thousands of photos I've taken over the past 40 years. This morning I found a baby pciture of my brother that my Mom had mailed me about 5 years ago. I'm so glad. I didn't have one for the slide show was wishing yesterday that I did. Wish granted!

Take care all, Barb

Barb I'm so sorry for what you are going through. So sad. And know how some neighbors can be about their things. We have shared our garden produce all summer with a lot of the neighbors and our family. But you have to hear about the ongoing fig saga.

Yesterday after church my DH and I were out in the apple tree...literally he had climbed it and I was on ladder and we were picking those apples at the top of the tree and shaking it to get the rest down. We had just spent an hour picking 2 gallons of figs as well. I needed 3 more gallons to go in my freezer and one of the DIL's is wanting some more. So thankfully we had picked the figs before shaking the apple tree and I had taken them inside to pick through and wash and freeze. Well here comes this same granddaughter (like I said before we haven't seen her in 5 years before Saturday) along with her aunt that I have never ever met. The aunt brought me a silk arrangement that was the ugliest thing I've ever seen. I was so hoping that my face didn't give me away. And another thing I hate silk arrangements as they are such dust collectors and I'm allergic to dust. Well this aunt was using it to bribe me to give them some figs. She said she only wanted a few to eat. Well at that point since we had picked there were none ripe left on the tree. She kept hinting and kept hinting and finally I point blank told her that once our family got all we wanted IF there were any left then I would take her sister (who is our neighbor) some and she could get them from here. After we finished I went to read my emails and my DIL had linked me to facebook thanking me and as I rarely go to FB anyway I decided to have a look around and the granddaughter's mother who we haven't seen in over 20 years and was the one that didn't want us to have anything to do with this granddaughter when she was growing up had messaged me there. And her exact words were "If I had known Haley was coming over on Saturday I would have had her bring me some figs"...not if you have extras could we have some or politely asking for some..just a message expecting us to jump through her hoop and send her some. The nerve of some people. Where are manners now days? I was pretty POed last night. DH will take a gallon if we have a gallon to spare down to the neighbor and she can dole them out to all these rude people if she sees fit to. Strangely this girls dad lives across the road from us and has MS and she neglects him awful. We do more for the guy than his own daughters. In fact I'm sending half a watermelon to him today. I can't eat a whole one and DH doesn't like them so don't mind doing for people. But don't expect us to give you what we have worked hard to grow unless we want to give it ourselves. Sorry for the rant.

Busy week ahead.

Barb, that is a rough assignment but hoping it brings back some good memories as well as the sad ones.
It was delightful yesterday--rainy day but so cool that I used the oven to bake cookies, muffins and a casserole---new neighbors moved in across the street which is one reason for the baking. Warmer weather is coming back this week as I get ready to go back to work on Thursday--guess just as well as I will have to shut up the house while gone. My kitties will miss their time on the porch.
Have a good day!

Barb I would have taken the figs out no matter if there was net on it or not. If it's over your fence it's yours. Cheeky buggers!!!

I'm glad you've found a food regime that works for you, problems with your gut can be a veritable pain in the rear end.

It's hard to reconcile with the passing of your brother, pictures help you to remember all the good times.

Mmmmm, I love figs! They are divine. I had Greek neighbours that had a fig tree. It grew over my fence and they would cover it with a net and tie it so I couldn't get the ones on my side but they felt free to cut the branches off my cherry tree that dared to grow near the fence. Wasn't worth a war so I let it go. With some people it is all for them. Users. Sad though, especially when it's family.

I tried on all my pants, jeans, capris and shorts this morning sorting which ones fit and which to weaither get rid of or put in storage. I've lost 15 lbs since the beginning of May following the Clean Gut program I saw on Dr Oz.and, of course, with Celiacs it's all about the gut. I'm never hungry. I'm thrilled. I've been a member of Spark since 2006 and have never lost weight without trying/starving. At least I had something that fit to wear to the Memorial Service for my brother. That outfit is laid out ready for packing.

I've been shedding a lot of tears while going through photos. My sister asked me to make the slideshow for the service. I haven't received as many photos as I expected. I have more from over the years because I was always the one taking photos. Sure is time consuming going through my boxes and boxes of them. Then I have to scan and edit them. I keep having to take time-outs. It's emotionally exhausting.

take care everyone! Barb

Well was a busy day yesterday. Both DIL's came over. One to borrow my juicer and other to get a bushel of apples and 2 gallons of figs. And then we had a surprise visit from our oldest granddaughter that our son did Not raise. Her mother and family wanted nothing to do with us so we never really got to know her until she was 19 and she is 25 now. She has a son (our great grandson) who is almost 4 who we had never seen until yesterday. I'm thinking she saw my post on Facebook about the figs and apples I was giving to my DIL Carmen and just showed up for what she could get to take home. Her mom had asked me for tomatoes this summer. Had to tell her we drove down south to get ours..strange people as now they want to be part of our lives and feel like It is for what they can get out of us.

Well off to track.

I live in Victoria Barb, the state next to SA. After the bushfires trees fall all the time, it takes some of them a couple of years but eventually they go down. Plenty of wood if I had a wood stove/heater.

Gave my Lhasa Apso Bruno a clip today, not as good as my normal clip but it'll have to do. My arm hurt from the moment I started it to the moment I finished it. He looks a little like the rats have been chewing at him, but it will look a bit better when it grows in a bit.

Have some leftover chicken in the fridge, will have to come up with something for dinner with it. I'm edging towards enchiladas

Our weekend is nearly finished, hoping yours is going OK

Jules that can be scary when trees fall. So you live in South Australia? I have a friend who lives near Laurel. They have a cottage they fixed up with a lot f land on a creek and they have been trying to sell. They have bought cottages and houses and fix them up and then repeat it. I think this time if this one sells they will be moving to Tazmania.

One of the DIL's came out and borrowed my juicer. Other is supposed to come out and get figs and apples today so just stitching, doing laundry and working on my room.

Weather here is much better than it's been for ages. Had a major windy day and night yesterday, apparently the weather system that caused it was so similar to a cyclone system (unusual down here in the south) I did hear a tree fall last night but must have been in the forest because I can't see anything around that has fallen.

Thanks Jules now I can ask my doctor to prescribe the sustained type of tramadol. Didn't know they made it and will have appointment with my RA doctor in September.

Another quiet day today. Cloudy and much much cooler. Well off to finish tracking.

A good church is great, not so good are the ones where they focus on the wrong things.

Barb, do you take the sustained release form of the Tramadol, I find the "instant" version tends to make me wonky sometimes as well. They only do up to 3 shots of cortisone here as well, anymore can damage your tendons etc.

I can't take Nsaids due to ulcer. Can't take tylenol due to liver problems so the Voltaren is all I can use for inflammation and then the tens unit or Tramadol if pain gets really bad. But don't like taking the Tramadol during the day as it makes me nauseated. So really not much I can use for pain and inflamtion. Last steriod shot I got made my heart flutter and had a fainting spell so now can't take them..besides too many steroid shots will break down your joints and bones and I don't need more of that to happen..

Been on the phone all morning so haven't felt productive today. So going now to do somethng else for a change today.

O Cathy we went to Wednesday night Bible study at this church and good crowd and at the end they had a quick meeting so we stayed to listen. Their pastor who was not there Sunday had gotten Lymes disease and had gone to the hospital and the church had given the hospital to allow him to get in as they won't without money outright unless you are dying or something..then they voted to give them another $1000 to help out on their medical expenses. The friend I talked to said that this church was like that and that they did for other people in the community all the time even if they were not members of the church..that hey had given one of her sons $300 when his wife died of cancer to help with funeral expenses and all. So it seems it is a giving church unlike most we have been to. So far we are liking it and plan to attend awhile and see how it is basically all the time.

Well off to finish tracking. emoticon

I think what you have as Tylenol is acetaminophen or paracetamol. It's a great painkiller but if you take too many (more than 8 normal tablets a day) you can have liver failure and die.

It's not only the GERDS, they also can cause bleeding and raise blood pressure. Before we buy any of this stuff the pharmacist asks questions about what we want it for etc etc.

When I get a bad back pain I find the Ibuprofen/Codeine works wonders, we can get it over the counter if we supply our name and address.

My doctor always said take the right pain reliever for the right pain, Ibuprofen is great for back and joint pain. Paracetamol for general pains (although on it's own doesn't work for me) Asprin for things like toothache, migraines (works a treat) and some headaches and take enough to get rid of the pain, if it says take 2 tablets twice a day that's usually what you need to get rid of if.

But and I'm sounding like a know it all, you have to be careful when you are taking prescription medicine, I know my brother has to be careful with what he takes.

I think it was the gel---the ibuprofen though is helping the inflamation in the whole tendon though---I am really careful not to overuse things like that cream but after my busy day yesterday my right IT band was acting up below my knee and put just a touch of that cream there and it helped. For my dh, he cannot take nsaids by mouth because of gerds but the cream should be a great way to get that medicine to the actual spot he needs it without upsetting his tummy.

GF I think you'll find the tablets work on a different level than the gel. The gel is just absorbed to a degree into the affected part that you rub it. I have read the same about the tablets over here as well, I remember when my Mum was given Vioxx she developed some heart hassles that I told the doctor I didn't want her to take them anymore.

With the bursitis in my left shoulder, the bursa is inflamed and is extremely swollen and it catches in on the shoulder bone whenever I lift or move my arm. The second cortisone shot has done the trick by the feel of it. My right arm has the torn tendon so the gel can relieve it to a degree but in the end it just has to take its time and I have to do rehab exercise.

Barbara the gel is pretty benign as opposed to the tablets but if you take any other NSAIDS like aspirin, iboprofen or naproxen etc you can increase your chance of bleeding etc.

Wos, that is great news Lecates. Do you think the 'Voltaren Gel---diclofenac sodium topical gel' did the trick? If so, my immediate thought was that I should try it. When I had a flareup of tendonitis (from gardening), I was prescribed a 10% diclofenac cream that had to be compounded. From reading your post about the wonderful results, I did a google search on Voltaren and came up with a surprising news www.ctvnews.ca/health/arthritis-pain
-d
rug-should-be-pulled-due-to-adverse-R>heart-effects-study-1.1154042
. Now I'm in a quandary because coronary heart disease runs in my family and that is what killed my brother 2 weeks ago. Although it is more likely his love of baking desserts full of shortening, cream, and butter that did it. Strange thing though, he wasn't that much overweight and didn't have a beer belly.
I still think I'll check it out. I found it locally and apparently Walmart carries it too. There are 2 versions, one that says Joint pain and the other doesn't. The one that doesn't says it is 1.16% Diclofenac wheras my prescription was 10%.
Jules, do you think it would help your shoulder?

I have not had any problems with my hip all day ---and we had our gd this morning and then we all went to Ocean City and I was on my feet for several hours and got quite a few steps in and the hip never bothered me. Then came home and had to rush out to water aerobics---now, my legs ached some but not the hip so I am thrilled!

I use Voltaren gel and love it. I can't have too many steroid shots as they make mybody react funny..,.like many meds. But I've been using the Voltaren now for years and so far ok with my body.
Also if you can get a ten's unit. It is the electrode thingy that has patches you stick on and it does little shocks..that is the thing I really rely on when pain gets severe. Kind of works like acupunture but without the needles. The pharmacys may have them or if not they can probably order them.

Today is one of the DGD's birthday. She is the youngest of the middle son nd she is 10 today. Funny their oldest who is almost 18 ddn't get a cell phone until she was 13, middle one when she was 11 and now this one is getting one at age 10....She is the spoiled one..We may go to their house later today. We will see. Rains have tapered off and so nice and cool outside now...reminds me of autumn. Working on a new Cross stitch stocking and on my room again.

They can do only 3 cortisone shots, I've had 2 so far and I think the second one will do the trick.

If it continues I will be getting it as I can't stand that to happen too many times---but I really think it is the IT band---it is as tight as can be and achy and if it continues to be a problem , I think the cortisone shot would help that, too.

Well it looks like you'll have to go to the doctor and get a script for the Voltaren. But the cortisone shot will be the best thing if it really is bursitis

My neighbor brought down a cream for me to try--oh, my, this stuff is miraculous---it feels so much better---able to sleep, sit, so hoping it is just the IT band---but I will get the shot if it continues but I definitely am going to demand that someone give me the prescription for this stuff.

The only thing that will work for bursitis is either the cortisone shot (which is pretty much instantaneous) or the acupuncture takes a little longer. It's incredibly painful I know (the bursitis I mean) so I'd bite the bullet and get the shot of cortisone, you may need a couple though. Don't suffer with the pain because it won't get better on it's own.

He said it might be bursitis and only thing for that is a shot---but IT band is also screaming at me today---I should have got the shot---did get a 2 hour nap this afternoon so feel more alert. After the doc visit I went to join my mom at the Senior Center---nice group---we stayed for lunch, then I had to take her home as I was too tired to stay any longer and needed to get home for that nap, Now sitting with ice on my leg, hip and hoping that will help---otherwise I might be heading back to the doctor's office tomorrow for that shot.

Cathy that is awful. And Jules no relief!!! Awwww that is a bummer for both of you.

We finally got rain and now supposed to cool off. We really haven't had much of a summer this year. And the damp weather makes my joints ache. Spending today cross stitching an working in my studio. If I do a little bit each day in the studio, I will eventually have it organized. Got to stay off this computer though.

Have a great Tuesday. emoticon

The needles are about as fine as frog hair you CAN'T feel them. Anyway they have laser acupuncture and that works just the same.

If it's a soft tissue injury an ultrasound is usually the only way to see the injury. Bone problems need XRays and other things.

How are you going to get a cortisone shot if you're afraid of needles, you don't feel them either, just a bit of pressure.

Well that sounds like a bugger!! Do you have a problem with the bursa in the hip, if so the cortisone shot will be great. You may need an ultrasound if it's a soft tissue injury.

Do you have an acupuncturist handy, they can do wonders and most of them these days have laser healing as well and that works a wonder as well.

Too bad it won't help.
Here I am--not even 4 AM---hit starting hurting really bad about 2---tried everything to get it to stop---it was just spasing so bad that nothing was helping---so I got up and got an ice pack and used cream on it---that did not help---knew only thing to do was walk---of course, dh is up at that hour with lights on so I am awake now--I think I had to walk for over 20 minutes to get some relief--and it still is twinging every once in a while. Go to the ortho doc about my knee---but seriously thinking and wondering if a cortisone shot in the hip might help me there---this is the worst thing that has happened with it. Might crash on the couch in a bit but need to be up and ready to go at 8 for the doctor so I might just stay up and crash when I get home today.

I don't understand attitude in church either. People need to realize why they are there in the first place, if they can't be pleasant, stay at home!!

I joked with the doctor that gave me my cortisone shot to give me one in the other arm, he said he would gladly do it if it would do any good which it won't ....... bummer.
