Sounds like a lovely place to be from! As well as the videos, try some cross training--work your core and back, upper body--those parts that get neglected on the bike.

Welcome to our madness!

Enjoy your indoor biking. Put on a nice DVD and pretend you are touring the country.

I had another PT session this morning and they put me on the bike for 5 minutes. The first few turns were REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE, but it slowly got easier. Not allowed any resistance yet, but the stitches come out tomorrow, perhaps after that. Gonna get hubby to put my bike on the trainer so I can at least spin on it.

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH
I just bought my bike in May. Probably hadn't been on a bike in 25 years, but I am LOVING it. We have soooo many beautiful places to ride.....many paved bike paths that go for miles and miles along the rivers, up the canyons, past waterfalls, etc. However, it is really starting to get cold (even with lots of layers) and pretty soon the snow will be flying. Before too long I will just be riding the stationary bike indoors until Spring arrives.

Sounds wonderful. How nice to live in a growing area. Our little town is drying up, no new business, old businesses closing, people moving out. It is sad.

Grand Island is in the middle of the state, the 3rd largest town (at 48,000). It's got a pretty nice downtown, and lots of people from further out west or just from more rural surrounding areas come here for shopping, but people who live here are likely to go to the "city" if they need something special. :) It's pretty friendly, I think (we've been here 2 years now), and the town is growing, which is nice.

We moved here from Arkansas, partly for the climate -- we missed winter! And my husband's mold allergies are much more under control here, too.

Hello everyone. I'm Jenn and I live in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginina. I completed the G25K and had finished half way through G28K before I came down with Plantar Fisciitis. It side-lined me for 2 months. It is now hot/muggy and hard to get motivated to run when I get home from work and I am not a morning person per se. I used to bike to work when I lived in Hawaii..20 yrs ago. I can't bike to work here, but there are some wonderful bike paths and winding country roads. This is something I can do for alone time or with the kids and dear hubby. They bought be a nice Giant Sedona for my 46th birthday so I am now ready to try a new adventure in biking.

Not this year, but maybe I can do it next summer. I moved to Germany last summer to take the school I am at now. I come home every two years. I now pedal the bike paths of Germany.

DH and I just got back from the TN Tandem Rally last weekend. There are always a lot of riders from Harpeth (at the TN and GA rallies). It was in Murfreesboro last year and was a bit hillier than I like, but loved the area. My dad was stationed in Smyrna when I was in grade school.

I just did. I rode the Mufreeboro Hot ride August 09. It was scorching in August, I did the 33 mile on my hybrid bike before I has my road bike. I was in pain out there, but my friend and I did finish. Her brother got lost and some farm lady picked him up and dropped him at the start from the back of her truck.

Small world. We will go back next summer. I miss the weekend bike rides. I did the Tour de Cure and Harpeth too. Fond memories...

I grew up in Califronia, but most recently moved from Clarksville,TN. I have lived in Germany for almost one year. I live in Weilerbach. I absolutely love our bike paths. I still have to be careful corssing the highways to get to the other bike path.

Scout-

It's a fairly bike friendly city. I'll admit I'm not down there very often since I live in the 'burbs. My in laws keep a boat in one of the harbours, so we go to that, and we'll take the bikes with us to ride on the lakeshore trail.

I love Bike the Drive since they close down the road (Lakeshore Drive) for a 15 mile stretch, for 4 hours, and you can bike it as many times as you want...I know a couple guys who do the whole thing several times and do 60 or 90 miles in the morning. My family does the south loop (Grant Park to the Museum of Science and Industry) every year, so just 15 miles, but we have a blast!

We drove long what I think was Lakeshore Drive, awhile back for a business trip. I seem to remember a fairly well populated bike line. It was certainly different thant what I had pictured Chicago as. We did see that side of the city as were sequestered in a huge downtown hotel, and did not see blue sky again for a couple of days. Nice town though, at least on that weekend.

I live in IL, but near St. Louis, MO; so I have many great trails near, from the river road bike trail to the Katy trail, and 3 decent seasons to ride in. At my previous job I commuted partially by bike and partially by public transportation- very biker friendly system.

I'm also in the Olympia area and must agree that the cycling here during the summer/fall is wonderful. A great cycling-friendly community as well in the region with a lot of great event rides including the Seattle to Portland ride every July.

The Katy Trail goes from the eastern side of Missouri (in St. Charles) and ends 225 miles west of there, in Clinton. We have lived close to it for about 16 years and just started biking it a few years ago.

Here's more info on it.

Does that connect with TX? i assume it is an old cattle trail. Reason i ask is Katy, Tx, beside Houston.

I've never been to NY, but I lived in Phoenix as a child, and also in CA--in fact, I "attended" UCLA! No, I'm not a child prodigy, I was having speech therapy. I must have had a crush on my therapist--I remember him being very tall, and I hink blond, and even more exciting, he wore tennis shoes! Big stuff to a 6 year old! And best of all, some times he would take the whole class--all 3 or 4 of us--to the sub for a coke! Heady stuff back then--we felt so grown u going through the line and each of us holding a glass and sitting at a table in what to my mind was a "real, fancy resteraunt.
