Well, they got enough of it in ... and another winner looking toward the chase. Definitely coming down to the wire now, with a lot of the usual suspects still winless. Appropriate that the 43 was in victory lane today of all days.

You have to want it to do it.

I'm kinda bummed that today's race got rained out...but at least the storm that rained it out sent a little bit of rain to us, too. Gotta find the bright side where I can. Anyway, hopefully they'll get the race in tomorrow. emoticon

I was never able to find the lineups for the two races last night. Foxsports.com kept crashing my web browser and I never can find anything on nascar.com these days. Guess it won't kill me to only know who's on the pole until the race starts... emoticon

Our carrier here in Canada gave up part way through the second rain delay so we didn't see the end of it. Good to hear Carl won ... and great to see Tony Stewart finally finish somewhere besides at the back of the pack. Hoping for drier weather next weekend.

So did anyone make it through the entire Bristol race? I thought when Timmy Hill ran into Kenseth that was just plain stupid. I used to work on his legends car and we would joke that he ran faster in the pits than on the racetrack. The ending was weird with the caution light issue, but it was good to see Carl win.

Thanks for the explanation of the chase format Senator. They keep talking about needing to win to even make the chase though. Are they just handing out bonus points for a win, do they take the top 16 in the standings but only if they"ve run a race, or is it a variation on last year where they take the top 10 and then the next 6 "winners".
I have to admit I kind of like the idea of the highest scoring of the top 4 winning it all. There have been a lot of seasons like the last one where the cup was won before the race at Homestead even started. I mean, what were the chances of wonder boy JJ not finishing in the top 22?
Yawn.

I was happy for Jr. to win but am still ticked with Nascar for the call they made on my driver on pit road. I really think Nascar needs to re-evaluate the rules if it means someone is going to get penalized for trying to avoid getting wrecked! emoticon Kasey got totally screwed over on that call, he probably wouldn't have gotten caught up in all those wrecks if he didn't get that penalty. emoticon

That was a pretty good race yesterday. Great to see Jr. win it again, but a little bit weird to see a 3 car on the track that wasn't being driven by his dad. (I didn't expect to ever see that happen.) Congratulations to Dale Jr. emoticon

yea no matter how much we complain NASCAR won't change them I saw the second half of the truck race it was kinda good, not boring and Kyle had to earn the win even though I still don't like him.

I didn't get to watch the nationwide race but listened to some of it on the radio Glad Junior's car won!!!!!

I have always thought that the whole concept of the Chase was really stupid. I say let them all race for 37 (I think) races and the guy with the most points after the last race wins the trophy, just like it used to be. Why did NASCAR need a "playoff" system like the NFL and NBA?? If someone who was just outside of the cutoff for the Chase were to win every single race after the cutoff, he couldn't be the champion because he didn't make the Chase? Stupid, stupid, stupid. (Oh well. These are the current rules and they're not going to change just because I think they're asinine...)

so to me its like why bother having a points system at all...you can literally come in second every single race and if you win the last one you are champ even if the guy who finished second was top in the points...I kinda understand the elimination thing but I HATE the idea of the last race if you are the first chaser over the finish line you are the champ.

I also heard something about they changed the points part but I have not heard that from NASCAR so I really don't know.

The duels were kinda interesting

PLeeeeaaaase! I am having enough trouble trying to figure out why they needed to change the points system yet again and the conspirator talking people that think it is to his benefit...why would he need for the points to be changed when he won last year?!

ok time to start talking smack again!

If I hear one more person say how Austin Dillon can drive just because he is on the pole I will probably deck them! I'm not saying he can't drive I'm not saying he can either...if I remember correctly didn't Danika have the pole last year and what good did that do her? hmmmm? OMG just shut up already and let the kid race to prove himself! Qualifying is a totally different beast then racing!

Jenny - here is the link to the schedule. I also posted it to the link part of our 'team stream'. Just click on 'links' under the huddle bar.

The dates are right, but obviously that site needs to still update. Except for the Daytona 500, all the other races are being run around midnight! LOL.

Yes, most likely it is. Doesn't mean the rest of us have to like it, but it is what it is. (To coin one of my very least favorite patronizing phrases...)

On a totally different note, I heard today that Trevor Bayne has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and that this is why he hasn't been racing much recently. Back when he first had to sit some races out because of a "mystery illness" I kind of thought that might be what he had because his symptoms sounded a lot like my own. With treatment I've gotten to the point where my MS isn't that big a deal anymore. I hope that Trevor gets there, too.

There was much rejoicing!

He may not win the championship but I think he is ahead of baby Shrub!

I'm probably going to miss next weeks race, but I have my not so smart Smart phone so I can keep track :)

BTW...One of Jimmie's favorite tracks? Who's won there 9 times now? I'd say it's one of Jeff's favorite tracks, too. emoticon

I really wasn't expecting Gordon to ever win again, but this morning as I was getting off of work I was thinking to myself that this was the track where it could happen. Unfortunately I slept through a good deal of the race because I don't usually work graveyards, but I did get to see the most important parts toward the end. He's not going to win the Chase, but at least he surprised me and finally won another race. emoticon emoticon

Well Jimmie's 1st championship really should have been Jeff's 5th because he was more than a full race ahead of every other driver in points before they changed everyone's points with the start of the first Chase. But he started that Chase in 2nd place because he hadn't won as many races as Jimmie had that year, and he never caught back up. Whatever. It is what it is, whether I think it's stupid or not. I'll just be happy if someone keeps Jimmie from winning another fake Chase championship. (And I still say we should stop wasting time on the first 26 races and just start with 10 or 12 or 13 drivers running the 10 Chase races. It makes as much sense as what they're doing now.)

There was much rejoicing!

maybe the bush brothers johnson and kenseth can all be involved in "the big one" at dega and not finish the race. Then Jr and Gordon can finish 1,2 and move up in points :)

Here is to wishful thinking!!!!

Kenseth is definitely on a roll right now and it looks like he'll probably be the champion this year if he keeps on running this well. I'd be okay with that, or actually with anyone but Johnson or Baby Busch. I know it won't be Gordon even though NASCAR did whatever they did for whatever reasons they did it and let him in the Chase. I think we were better off without a "playoff" in NASCAR, but what do I know? emoticon

Just because every other sport has a "playoff" at the end of the year racing doesn't!
As for Gordon getting 13th I didn't understand it myself but yesterday I was listening to PitPass (I think) on NASCAR radio and they explained everything and it made sense, of course I can't remember how they explained it but basically because NASCAR didn't believe the drivers had any idea of what was going on and they didn't want to penalize the drivers, Gordon had a chance of making the top 10 which if he did Logano would have been out so because they felt the outcome was manipulated they just made it a 13 driver field!

Anyway Kenseth wins 2 in a row...he is definitely winning the championship...maybe he can wear a tux this year!

Yeah, I did finally figure out what had happened the week before last but I'm still not sure why Gordon is in the Chase as the 13th driver. I'm not entirely unhappy about it, but I do think that it's just one more thing to show the world what a ridiculous joke the Chase is. I'd really like to go back to watching the drivers race 36 real races for the championship instead of playing games and "racing" at less than their best a great deal of the time just to make sure that they have a chance to make it into the Chase, which apparently is the real season at the end of the season. Why race the first 26 races at all??

Okay, I'm done. Don't know who I want to win...just that I don't want it to be Johnson. emoticon

sorry I am a little late (not getting notifications again!) you might actually have figured things out by now and understand a little bit more than I do but I still haven't figured out why Jeff is #13...popular demand maybe? Bowyer got in trouble for intentionally spinning out to help his team mates get in the race so all of MWR got penalized although Truex is no longer in the chance and I do like him I am glad they all got penalized.

Okay guys, I was not able to watch last week's race because I work on Saturday evenings now. Can someone please explain to me what the heck happened last week (I sort of know some of it) that caused all of the hubbub that's gone on today. Also, though it makes me very happy that it has happened, why the heck is Jeff Gordon now in the Chase as the 13th driver? I'm assuming that whatever went on that I didn't get to see last week screwed him and kept him out, and so now they're making up for it...but I really don't know since I wasn't able to watch the race last week.

Anyway, I still think that the Chase is a big joke, but I'm strangely happy that Jeff is going to be in it and would really love to understand what the heck is going on. Thanks. emoticon

left is the way to turn around an oval track, besides it would have been his wife (Casandra right?) that would have been going in the right I mean wrong direction.

I was thinking this morning that this thread has been really quiet. I even looked to see when the last post was...and found that it was a post from Jenny back in July! I guess our friend the Senator doesn't have much to say when his guy isn't winning every single race, and especially when he has some bad luck and loses the point lead. Poor Jimmie. (And before John comes back at us and points it out, I'm well aware that Jeff is not even in the joke we call the Chase. I've known for months that he wouldn't be in it, but I still like him more than I like Jimmie.)

As usual. I will admit it grudgingly, but it's not gonna make me like them any more than I already don't. Bottom line of it is that the one who deserves the wins is the one who earns them, and right now Jimmie is earning the wins. Doesn't make me like him, but I do respect the fact that he's doing what he needs to do to win races. Just wish Jeff would grow a pair and start doing it again himself...

Well the best this week, anyway. I didn't watch the race yesterday. I had to work and my day at work was so awful that I just totally spaced out the fact that this week's race was on Saturday. Seems I didn't miss much, though. Jeff apparently had a very bad day and Jimmie won, as usual. Sounds pretty boring to me. emoticon

I was kind of bummed that Gordon screwed himself by pitting too soon, but he certainly came back from that penalty pretty darn well. Would have liked for him to win, but then I already know that's never going to happen again so I'm quite happy with 2nd. I was never at all fond of Dale Sr. but I'd really love to see Junior do well. Since Jeff definitely won't be in the Chase, I'd at least like to see Junior in it this year.

There was much rejoicing!

Junior is making progress so I certainly hope that means he will be in the running for a championship one of these years. I just wish JJ would just lose his momentum already :) Even though he is in a Toyota I would like to see Truex have some better luck

A woman with PMS has never killed 3000 people in a day, but you'd better be scared of me when I've got PMS going on. emoticon Your driver is the best right now, so what? Mine used to be the best, too, but things change and they will change for Jimmie Johnson, too. He's not going to win 9 championships, that's for sure.

There was much rejoicing!

Jimmie doesn't scare me at all, but I think it's funny that sometimes he's as good as Jeff Gordon is at running into walls. emoticon I'm with Jenny. Terrorism scares me. Nuclear weapons scare me. It's hard for me to take NASCAR racing at all seriously anymore and so a driver who happens to be the flavor of he month (or year, or whatever) doesn't scare me a bit.

There was much rejoicing!

I was really bummed to see Jeff out of the race on like lap 6 or something, but seeing Jimmie hit the wall did my old heart good. Poor old Senator. emoticon

So Jimmie still doesn't need any luck :) Would have rather seen Harvick over Biffle since Jr didn't have good luck either!
