1- Look better Naked diet ( from the Editor of Women's health magazine)
I like this because there are menus included for 6 weeks. If I am left to my own decisions I dont do well.

2- Eat clean diet- This is always my back up plan. LOVE IT!

#1 - my "chicken & broccoli" mindset... Basically, this is eating lean protiens and veggies, with plenty of fruit and whole grains with a few sweets to supplement. 6-7 small meals a day, and my body seems to run along happily. This is actually "routine" enough and familiar enough that I don't need to journal while I'm doing it...

#2 - tracking calories online -- for those times when, although I know better, I stray from my "chicken & broccoli" mindset into the mine fields of pizza and bread and ice cream and... you know ;-)

#1 = Paleo. I've been wanting to commit to this for a long time. From what I read, it feels right to me. The problem is that I get tempted by sweets and alcohol. Especially at work and work functions. I think I need to do two things: (1) PLAN. If I don't have the right foods with me, I'll get hungry and eat what's available; (2) have a strategy for all the work lunches, happy hours, dinners, etc that I go to. There's a lot of habit built up of just going with the flow and eating/drinking what I'm served.

#2 = Counting calories and tracking on SP. I've lost weight by counting calories before, and it works ok. One problem I have is that I have a pattern of doing this: if I eat one thing I'm not supposed to or one thing I don't know the calories for, then I just completely fall off the wagon and do whatever I want for the rest of the day, and maybe the next day too. I need to just make my best guess at the number of calories, track it, and keep going.

I've sort of picked two diets, although I don't really think of it as a "diet" that word doesn't really work for me. I'm tracking here on sparkpeople, and I'm following some guidelines I've set for myself - avoid processed foods, emphasize whole wheat, veggies, and fruit, etc. Moderation and staying within the calorie allotment as much as possible!

I am going to go more with the New Rules of Lifting for Women diet guidelines. They seem to suit me.

If I get all stiff in my neck again and cannot lift for a while, I will use SparkPeople guidelines. And the Hyman anti-imflammation diet is the back-up; and I could do this for a week each month with great benefit.

Day Two: I've picked two reasonable diets. The first will be to continue nutrition tracking on Spark, which I've been doing for some 20 months or so now: calories, carbs, proteins, fats and a whack of other nutrients including calcium, Vitamin C etc. And in the alternativer, if for some reason that stops working, I'll sign up for a course of home delivered meals from Healthy Heart, Toronto based food serice endorsed by the heart and stroke people -- so not prefab, low in sodium, portion and calorie controlled.

Read my list of reasons to lose weight and will do so again!!

Hi Cindy! haven't seen you in a while :)

I'm still more or less following the Best Life plan but using the spark logs for food and (after a long hiatus) exercise. Hiatus from logging it that is...

Best Life comes in phases so plan B is phase One-- I'm currently in Phase Three. So far I've never gone all the way back, but if I start to feel off track I do tend to refocus on the basics of phase one.

I continue to use the Sonoma Diet plate method to regulate portions. Carb Lovers to help me make the right choices when it comes to good carbs/starches.
I track my foods on Spark to know how I'm doing at keeping my calories in control.

Done with the diets as I tried just about all of them (WW, South Beach, Richard Simmons, etc.), learned a bit from all of them, I'm at the point where I know enough to:

*track my food on spark
*make healthy food choices
*portion control
*cutting out white flour

My two diets are calorie counting and food exchanges (Foodmover from Richard Simmons from years ago)

I am doing food exchanges at this time.

I can't lose 100 pounds....but, maybe I can lose five pounds twenty times.

My two diet choices from Day 2:

1. Eat Clean Diet (best diet plan I've read about)

2. Belly Fat Cure (a little more wiggle room than the eat clean diet and also involves numbers to count)

I hope I have success on the Eat Clean but I also like the Belly Fat Cure Diet.

1.) Weight Watchers: I had a lot of success with this several years ago. I need to be very mindful of portion control. I miss the weigh-ins.... it was too hard to cheat because having someone else see what you weigh when you stand on the scale is a real motivator.

2.) The SparkPeople diet plan.

Day 2 Pick 2 diets you can and will do.
1. Count Healthy Mediterranean calories tracking on SparkPeople and tracking Sodium, Potassium and Cholesterol intake. I have High Blood Pressure and this is important for me.
2. Weight Watchers. I am an overweight lifetime member.
What happened. I stopped counting calories and attending meetings after maintaining for 2 years .

I am and will be using a combination of all the things I have learned over the years.
Whatever I call it.
It may have to be tweaked occasionally.

The Sonoma Diet and South Beach Diet principles combined.

My plan also includes portion and calorie control.

Recently I've had two health concerns/scares. I had a (pre)diabetes scare and also a colon polyp that was early-precancerous. So, I am going to be concerned about getting the weight off and eating a diet that is high fiber and low on simple carbs and sugars.

1. The Beck Diet for Life - I need the structure and have nothing but time, so I'm looking forward to REAL calorie monitoring.

2. My hubby's eating plan. Basically, it's a list of "eat" foods and "don't eat" foods along with general guidelines for portions and when to eat. I lost 12 lbs. on it before, so I know I can succeed on it again with the Beck skills.

this is easy now as I'm confident about what eating habits will maintain a healthy weight.

For me, that means sticking to the basics:

...1-Water being the drink of choice,
...2-plenty of Freggies!
...3-plenty of protein, 20-25%,
...4-good oils: almonds, fish oil pills and cooking a bit w/SmartBalance oil
...5-supper is a new habit that's quickly become a favorite of both DH & I - salads, a lean protein and a nice (albeit small) dessert....
...6-eating frequently - 5-7x a day

Losing weight fast means 1400-1500 calories, at a moderate steady pace means 1600-1800 calories, maintaining means 1800-2000 calories.

Eating habits are CRUCIAL for attaining and maintaining my healthy weight.

ALICE DAY REVIEWS:

I have already chosen two different plans. Spark as the main diet, and South Beach as my back up. Although I have strayed slightly from Becks--I can see my pitfall. And it has nothing to do with the diet itself, so I'm not going to revert to plan 2 yet. If I come back here with my head hanging low again it will be time to try SouthBeach. It might not be a bad idea either--I'm a structure driven girl. I will give sparks another try first though, If i start to feel discouraged or want more structure I can always move on over to the SB!

#1: Eat-Clean Diet, somewhere between Coolers 2 and 3... self-planned.
-5 small meals; 1 lean protein, 1 whole grain carb at all meals; fruit or veggie and small dose of healthy fat at most meals
-150 cal treat at the end of the day if I've followed the plan otherwise
-Coffee is still ok; aim for organic, half-caff if possible; use honey or agave to sweeten
-80-100 oz of H2O per day

#2: Pre-set meal plans from Clean Eating Magazine.

1. SP range and logging w/water -- 1700-2000/day
2. Weight Watchers. I am going to look at a couple of other options before committing to #2. Specifically Clean Food, SP 28day and Zone.

2. recently visited Biggest Loser info. Getting the book as soon as I can. I love you can do this diet but I need simplicity also. I will find what works for me until I get it! LOL!

I will follow a SB style eating plan, using SP to track my food intake to monitor calories/balance.

I think my biggest risk is that I'll fall into a depression and lose motivation. If that happens, I think it will be helpful to put my diet on automatic pilot, so I choose Nutrisystem as my backup.

I'm planning to use SP, but if it doesn't work out, I'll switch to WW (which has a program for breastfeeding moms).
