sorry, i'm a little late to this, but I just wanted to chime in and say that realistically, it is absolutely inevitable that we all with slip up from time to time. We are human, after all. The key is what we do after the slip. You did great!
... don't exaggerate the outcome (oh, no, now I'll go back to my old ways forever) ... distract yourself (post here, go for a walk, call a friend) ... later, try to figure out what triggered the unplanned eating and come up with a plan to counter it next time. (nuts absolutely do not go bad in a week! I keep mine in my fridge but even out they last for months and months unless its super hot.)
I also find that when we "accidently" get an overdose of sugar, it really helps to eat some protein right away to help counter the physical effects.

I was reintroducing a trigger food into my system, to see if it was still a trigger food, and sure enough, it was. I had just a tidbit of dark chocolate on a blueberry. Actually I had 3 of them. It didn't kick in right away, but about 15 minutes later. My stomach juices, started going, I could feel and hear them. Then my brain was screaming, "I want some.... I want some... I want some CHOCOLATE!!! I started screaming out loud to myself, but it just kept getting worse. I grabbed 4 bottles of water, headed for the computer room, started working on SP and chugging water. When I had finished 2 of the bottles, I was fine. No more stomach juices, no more brain screaming at me, I felt fine. I didn't binge, and about a week later, when I tried it again, there was NO REACTION, WHAT SO EVER!!! I've only had 15g of the berries, and they're still in the refrigerator.
I know that the same thing doesn't work for everybody, so all I can do is share what I did, to avert a crisis.
You don't need to go off the rails. Just IMMEDIATELY get right back on schedule with your healthy eating habits. Put what happened behind you, it's not something that controls you. YOU CONTROL IT!!!

I know exactly how it started... I had planned to eat 25g of nuts. I opened the pack a few days ago and hadn't devoured them, which was impressive for me! I measured out my 25g then read the packet 'once opened consume within 7 days'. They're going to go off! Better eat them all! textbook stuff.
I'm on day 13 of the Beck book. Usually when I binge once, I go off the rails for days, sometimes weeks. Any tips/words of encouragement???
