Sometimes when I am really discouraged, I try to remember where I started out! I still have some more to lose, but I feel like I have made so many permanent changes that I am in such a better state than I used to be!
Thanks!

(By the way, I might put in a lower goal when I reach this one, but not by a lot. Maybe down to 160 at the lowest. I'm only 5'5" but I am not built like someone who should weigh 125! But 180-something is still too high.)

After 5 years of working on this, I am still very aware of any time I eat something standing up. In general, I sit to eat. But sometimes at the end of a meal, I am rushing off to do something and I still have food in my mouth. Yes, I do that, but the fact that it feels "different" shows how much I have internalized so much of what I learned on Beck!!!

Baby steps, your name says it all. Just try one thing at a time. It's a life journey and not a race. Some things I repeated go back and work on.

Thanks! Worked on sitting to eat today (Day 3). Wow! I had no idea how many times I just pop something into my mouth! It is a bit overwhelming ... and I sometimes doubt my ability to change, but I'm going to give it a try!

There are a lot of good ideas as you go through the book. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming, but the best thing to do is "try on" the different ideas and see which ones help you. Think about making permanent changes, but start wherever you can.

I've found that committing to reading in the book every day is key. Also, I belong to a group that meets weekly and the Beck book is our foundation. Having others on your team is so helpful.

Hi! I'm new to the team, and new to the Beck Diet Solution. However, I'm not new to trying to lose weight and keeping it off. After reading many references here on Spark People concerning this program, I think it might be just what I need. Sometimes I am my own worst enemy, so if I can learn to change my thinking, I'm sure I'll have more success for the long-term. Any advice from those of you who have really found success using the principles from this book?

Here's hoping!
