love it GWYN! that really resonates with me as well. I do feel I am still carrying around alot of old difficulties and struggles that I dealt with by overeating. One difference is I'm not sure I feel completely different-- I still have the occassional tendency to meet stress and anxiety with unplanned eating. So I need to be aware of that and do all the good Beck stuff to plan other distractions, etc. But it is a great thing to be reminded of how much I've changed... that keeps me going during times of struggle
very good. I just did a new list of my reasons to lose and #1 is this: My weight gain is a reflection of the old Dancequeen1051. I was very depressed and used food to sooth my feelings. I no longer am depressed, have turned around my life and am 1000% different than what I used to be. My body no longer reflects the new me. I want to lose weight to have a nice, slim body to reflect the new me.

I am new to this group but have been doing The Beck Diet since July 2012. I use the response cards, but I really like the exercise you do at the beginning of the book and make a list of the reasons you want to lose weight. I review this every morning and it helps me stay on track. Here is my list: Why I want to lose weight: 1. To honor God 2. I'll look better3. I can wear a smaller size 4. I can wear more stylish clothing 5. To be in better health 6. It will be easier to exercise 7. I will have more energy 8. I will be more self confident 9. I will be less self-critical 10. I can be more active11. Won't avoid people/places 12. Enjoy sexual intimacy more 13. I can bend over (tie my shoes) 14. Won't stress on what to wear 15. Can fit in booth at restaurant better 16. Live longer
When I review this list it helps me to pass on the extra helping of whatever because I want the things on my list more than I want the extra bite.
