Sandy~So glad you were able to get out today and enjoy church. Homemade chicken noodle soup sounds delicious!

We went to church, then to Costco to get a "few" things. When we got to the car, one of our tires was flat. The guys at the tire center at Costco were so nice to help us with the spare. We took it to the place I got the tires and found out that it can't be repaired. Because I got the tires there 5 years ago, there is only a fee for labor/service for a new tire which is nominal. The positive thing is we did NOT eat lunch at Costco although it was tempting!

Did some yard work before the rain started and now relaxing with some computer time. I'm planning for a more focused week ahead!

Was able to go to church this morning and it was an uplifting experience. We have many activities coming up for Easter. I have been taking it easy today. My mom made chicken noodle soup in the crock pot. It is so good. Plan to read tonight.

Hey all,

Michelle thank you for the prayers. I can always use them. The cold and wet weather that we have now in PA is really hard for me but I am pushing on. It has been snowing all day and now it is turning into freezing rain. I could not go to work today because of the weather.

I plan to read tonight. I have been reading the My Weird School books by Dan Gutman with my client and they are really funny. It is good for adults to see things through a child's perspective..

No plans for the weekend except shoveling snow and resting for the new week. Hopefully my flares will stop and I can get back to church this week.

God Bless

Sandy

Sandy~I am so sorry you are suffering so badly. I pray you will feel better soon. Does the cold weather make it worse?

I got most of my seeds planted yesterday, but still have a few more to do today. It has been sunny and beautiful here and I feel for those of you still in the depths of winter.

I am heading out for a walk this morning and then a 15-minute Jessica Smith workout. It's going to be a great Friday!

What plans do you have for the weekend? Anything fun?

Hi all,

More snow is coming and I have been suffering from flares from my lupus. I have not been able to focus enough to read for the past days. Still want to read the selection for this month.
Hope you all are well

Happy Thursday!!

I have been enjoying my morning coffee while having my quiet time. Now, I'm catching up on SP, emails and other computer stuff. After this, I will be heading out for a walk with my audiobook.

My big plan for today is to get some seeds planted for my garden. Hubby bought me a small portable greenhouse just for this purpose. I also bought some flower seeds to start, too.

What are your plans for today? Make it a great day whatever you're doing!

Sheryl~Sounds like a wonderful day! What kind of dog is Dixie?

It was cloudy here today, but no rain. It rained over the weekend which is a good thing as we are nearing drought conditions here. I worked today and took a couple of walks during my breaks to get some extra steps in.

Good morning, all!

It was a BEEautiful 72 degrees here yesterday. Just a teaser, though. Temp is dropping through the day with a predicted 21 degrees and snow tonight :( BUT, spring is coming!

Michelle, I'm glad you're on the mend. 3 weeks is a long time to feel yukky!

Kimberlee, so glad the tip re: the 10 min exercise streak was helpful. Spark on!

Sandy et al, stay warm and reading!

Hello all,

Waiting for more snow to come later on today and more shoveling. It will at least keep me home from work and inside to read.

Hi Everyone!

I am finally feeling back to normal today! That "crud"(as you call it, Sherri) clung to me for 3 weeks! The last 2 weeks I felt ok, but one of my ears was plugged with fluid and I still had a cough. I managed to still make a trip to California with my daughter to visit Disneyland, though :)

I did a lot of walking in Feb, but not too much other exercise due to traveling and being sick. I am working on my March goals and realized I never posted my Feb goals~lol! I didn't do very well, but I will still post a blog so I can look back at the end of the year.

I like the idea of 10-minute exercise streak, too. I haven't ever signed up for it officially, but it's a great way to get some movement in every day.

Welcome to the team, Sandy! I am going to do my best to read the March book, but it took me over 3 months to get through Pride and Prejudice!

Hope you all had a nice weekend. We've had gorgeous weather here~it's like it's spring already! I love the sunshine, but it will make for a very dry summer/lots of fires if we don't get some more snow and rain. I hope the rest of you are getting a reprieve from the snow and extreme cold!

Hello

I just joined the club today and I am very excited to be a part of a book club. I just joined Oyster books and it makes reading more enjoyable for me on a tablet. I will download the March book tonight or tomorrow to start reading. Reading a classic will be interesting . I usually read history and true crime books.

Sorry to hear that some of you are sick. I pray that you all will get well soon.

That's a really good idea, I love the streaks for logging in, so I would expect to be motivated by that as well. I haven't been paying attention to the other streaks I can earn, so I will definitely take this advice. I do like the at least 10 minutes thing, it is better than doing nothing & while I'm fighting the winter blues I can at least do something small!

I have started attending zumba two nights a week, and I love it! I thought I would find it embarassing, but it's really just fun! Gets me out of the house too which is a nice thing. It's just the other 5 days of the week I struggle with!

And congrats on keeping up with your streaks so well! You're doing an awesome job, I'm going to use you as my inspiration to get moving with them!

It keeps snowing here too, and more forecasted on the way, just waiting it out until it's finally spring, but WV doesn't love to give up the winter and sometimes hangs on until almost May, lets hope this year it doesn't happen!

I hope everyone is doing great and has a great weekend!!

Hi All! I hope everyone who had the "crud" is recovering and getting back to normal.

Kimb3rl33, I strongly recommend accepting SparkGuy's challenge to exercise just/at least 10 mins a day. Get a streak going and you will not want to miss a day. I have found having the "streak goal" to be very motivating and positively reinforcing. If I come to the end of the day and realize I have not done my 10 mins, I grab some barbells or an exercise band and do at least 10 mins worth of strength training. The "at least" is the bonus blessing in this challenge, because more often that not, the 10 mins turns into 20 or 30 or 45 or 60.... I began in October. I've broken my streak twice - once during the holidays when I was holed up in bed with the "crud" and had absolutely no energy, and again a couple of weeks ago when we were traveling. I forgot to take my very compact and packable exercise band and had to skip a day (had hoped upon realization of not packing it that I could get outside and walk, but the temp was 1 with a wind chill of -20). I'm back on my new streak. Join up! Official 10-Minute Daily Exercise Streak Challenge Team

We were surprised by a non-forecasted snow this morning. I was up at 515, ready by 545 to go to clinic, had my Y bag packed to go swim after clinic, headed to the kitchen to make coffee, and got a call from one of the other nurses in clinic wondering if the clinic would be open (she lives one county north of me, so gets an even earlier start). I had no idea it was snowing! So - stuck in the house for the day. Guess I'll do a workout video.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I've missed alot, but it sounds like most of you are doing well, Michele - hope you're feeling better!

Glory- That crap soup sounds amazing! Unfortunately I don't have a recipe, here's hoping someone has one to share!

I've been here..but quiet for about two weeks. I have been struggling in the motivation area. I did try Zumba for the first time and I loved it, then we've been snowed in for two weeks and I have no energy or motivation at all (Zumba has been cancelled too, I am going tomorrow though)! I haven't been exercising like I should either, and I'm not sure how to get jump started with the crappy weather and lack of sunshine, it's really impacting my mood & my desire to even move lol! Any suggestions on how you get motivated after a rough lazy patch?

Michele, hope you are feeling better. Its hard to exercise when you are not feeling well.

Neelix, how did the pot luck go? I like pot lucks because I get to taste other's creations and always end up with a few good recipes.

We enjoyed our min-vaca at the beach. The temp was 15, but we enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub. We did a lil shopping and ate some good meals. Tried my best to stay on track. We ate an amazing cream of crab soup at one of our favorite restaurants and I would love to get my hands on their recipe. Does anyone have a cream of crab soup recipe they would like to share. I know it isn't low cal but I sure do enjoy it every once in awhile, especially this time of year!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. What do you have planned?

Welcome Discover - Good to "see" you here.
Kimb3rl33 - I hope you are feeling 100% soon.
Michele - Ugh - that stinks that you got this nastiness. Hopefully it won't last that long for you. Take care of you.
Glory - Sounds like you have been busy planning for such an exciting day. May seems so far away yet I know it isn't. WTG on focusing a bit on you during this time.

I've been battling the plague that is going around along with some family stuff. I haven't been focusing on gluten free because of my birthday but I'm hoping to get back on track on Tuesday-Friday this week. We have a potluck tomorrow and I don't want to worry about if a soup has flour in it to thicken it or a salad has croutons on top etc. I picked up some cheap mini cupcakes at Target that are yummy and then I am making a bean dip. I was going to make it today but time got away from me. I had to work at my part time job this weekend and I am still not done. Ugh - guess it will be a long day for me tomorrow emoticon

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

emoticon I finally caught the horrible cold that has been going around. I have a sore throat and a cough mostly, but that means I probably have to call in sick tomorrow since I do a lot of talking which brings on the coughing. I have been resting today and getting some reading time in.

DiscoverLLH~So glad you've joined our team! I'm back from AZ now, but it's still been super nice here in Oregon~sunny and high 60's today :) I hope you're staying warm in those freezing temps you have in Chicago.

Gloryandme~Hope you had a nice weekend at the beach! The beach is one of my favorite places to be no matter what time of year.

Hope you had a good weekend, everyone!

Good morning!

Welcome DiscoverLLH emoticon
I live in PA, on the east coast, and we are experiencing the frigid temps as well. I am not complaining though as long as we do not get snow. So far, so good. I was watching the news and cannot believe the snow that is falling on the states in the northeast region of the country.

It's Friday and I am looking forward to the weekend. My DH and DD and I are going to do an overnight trip to the beach. I know it is not beach weather, but I still love going no matter what time of year. We just make sure we stay at a hotel with an indoor pool so all is good.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend and stay warm those of you that are in cold climates!

Good morning! I am new to the team, but thought I would stop in and chat for a bit. It's frigid here in Chicago today....AZ is sounding pretty good right about now! GLORY - the great thing is that since you are having them over for dinner, you can plan ahead what you want to eat so you don't overdo it. Make sure to save enough calories for a small slice of cake so you don't feel guilty afterwards!

Michele, wedding plans are moving right along . . . she said "yes to the dress", picked the venue, sent out save the dates, sampled the food, booked the photographer and DJ. Good incentive for me to loose a few pounds!

Glad you were able to visit with your mother. I bet she was delighted. Exciting for your mom to go to Arizona for the cold weather. I am sure you miss your family when you go, but it is probably so nice to get away and enjoy the sun again. Been pretty cold here in PA . . . little to no snow but the low temps are making up for it. However, I will take freezing cold over snow any day.

As for weekend plans, I will be cleaning and catching up on laundry today and I am having my sister and her husband over for dinner tomorrow to celebrate my sister's birthday. Will be hard to stay within calorie range tomorrow, but I will do my best.

Enjoy your weekend everyone! Let us know what you have planned?? emoticon

Happy Friday!

Joan~I was wondering how the wedding plans were coming along. Besides the calories, how fun to be tasting all kinds of food! To answer your question, I am not from Arizona. My mom bought a place here about 3 years ago and comes down for the winter months. Our winters in Southern Oregon aren't that bad, but they aren't sunny and warm like it is here :)

Kimb3rl33~Sorry you're still sick! I hope you feel better soon! I work at a hospital, too :)

Today is my last full day with my mom. It's been a good visit, but time is going by really fast! We haven't done too much~just hanging out. It's been super relaxing which is just what I needed. I'll be traveling tomorrow, so may not be able to check in. I will be doing a lot of reading, though!

What are your plans for the weekend?

It looks like everyone has been having alot of fun & enjoying (but not overindulging) in the Super Bowl festivities! I myself just watched the game at my Dad's and they just have dinner, so no snacking involved for me either.

Michele - I am incredibly envious that you are in Arizona, I'd give anything to be that warm right now!! WV is covered in snow and I'm freezing!

Still battling various forms of sickness, but that's what you get when you work at a hospital & not directly with patients..you get all the sick without the immunity!

Thanks Michele . . . I decided with the start of the new year I wanted to get back to a healthy life style. So far so good, however, last night we had the food tasting for my daughter's upcoming May wedding and we tasted enough food to feed a small army. I think I gained 10 pounds! emoticon Good news, I am back on track today! Glad you got together with family for the Super Bowl and were able to stick to healthy snacks. emoticon

Enjoy your stay in Arizona . . . I bet you are enjoying the nice, warm weather. Soak up some sun for the rest of us. Michele are you originally from Arizona too or did your mother move there? I would love to visit Arizona . . . my sister has vacationed there and loved it.

Deb - I do not envy you having all that snow other than it is so beautiful to look at and my pups do love romping in it. So far so good here in PA, we did not get hit with any big storms yet.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week and emoticon because emoticon

Joan~You are doing GREAT! Your enthusiasm is so motivating! Love that you are joining hubby and son at the gym and making healthy food choices! Thanks for all your encouragement to me~it's nice to have friends cheering you on!

Deb~I am so thankful we don't have snow to deal with very often. It sounds like you have a good hubby who takes care of it for you, though :) How is the gluten free going? Are you keeping it going this month?

I survived the Super Bowl by eating before going to my in-law's house and then only having a couple baby carrots & celery sticks with my homemade spinach-artichoke dip. If I make up my mind to avoid the snacking, I can usually do ok.

I am visiting my mom in Arizona until Saturday. It's so nice to get away to relax a little and enjoy the really sunny weather. It's supposed to be 87 degrees today! I will be taking a lot of walks since my mom walks her dog about 4 times a day. I'm hoping to get in plenty of reading, too!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday!

Happy Monday - We ended up with 19 inches of snow yesterday... it looks pretty but it sure will be a mess to get out of here. Funny thing is it was the same dates 4 years ago that we had a blizzard that dropped 22 inches. Right now there is a knee high drift at the end of our driveway and DH will have to be the one to tackle it as I can't walk without coughing at the moment. Oh well - I don't need to leave until tomorrow around 11am so he has plenty of time.

Hope that everyone has a great Super Sunday and is back on track today.

Make it a heart healthy day!

Good morning!

It is Sunday, February 1, 2015, and I love first of the month days that begin the week. Let's challenge ourselves to continue our healthy lifestyles by making healthy choices and fitting in a few minutes of exercise every day. Our bodies will love us for it! My goal is to stay on track the entire month of February. emoticon emoticon

It's Super Bowl Sunday . . . lots of temptations especially if you are hosting or going to a party. I have decided to avoid the whole SB parties this year and stay home. Later I am going to the gym and hope to take my pups for a nice, long walk . . . weather permitting.

What are your plans for the Super Bowl? emoticon

Michele, hope you are feeling better and glad to hear you made it to the "top"! We had unusual weather as well here in PA so I went out for awhile and did some clean up in the backyard on Sunday. The pups joined me . . . they were so happy I was outside with them.

Unfortunately, the nice weather did not last and it just started to snow. Hoping the weather forecast is wrong and we do not get over 8 inches.

I surprised my husband and son today. When they told me they were leaving to go to the gym, I told them I would be joining them. Glad I did! emoticon

Anyway, since I was off from work I made a beef stew in the crock pot loaded with lots of veggies. Smells delicious especially on a snowy day.

Hope everyone has a great week! Stay focused and don't forget to check in for January! emoticon

Hi Everyone!

We are having abnormally beautiful weather for January. It was sunny and over 60 degrees yesterday, so hubby and I went for a hike up a local "hill". It was the first time we made it to the top, so I was feeling really proud of us :)

I have quite a headache this morning, so I stayed home from church. Hopefully, I will be feeling better later this afternoon, so I can spend some time at the golf course with hubby. It's supposed to get up to 67 today!

I have been a little less focused the past couple of weeks and it's showing up on the scale. It's especially hard for me to stay on track over the weekends.
Do you have any strategies for staying on track over the weekends?

Can't wait to see your new boots! I'm glad you've got a reward that you're looking forward to!

Nothing planned for my weekend either, I think we may rent a movie and just have a stay at home movie night! I've been feeling really lazy this week, so hopefully the weekend will help me get recharged for this coming week. I need to do better with my calories and exercise this week, as I've been stuck at the same weight for almost two weeks now! But like you said, We can do it! And we will! :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Kimb3rl33 your question was not odd at all . . . glad you asked it . . . it got me to think about rewards. I identify with the statement you made, "I tried the new outfit or shoes or something route, but my self-confidence issues always make that reward feel bad somehow". That is why I chose the boots . . . I am not ready to try clothes on just yet because I am not ready to go in the dressing rooms with the three way mirrors emoticon However, this journey is one day at a time. I will have to take a pic of me in my new boots!

Nothing planned for the weekend. Will try to catch up on some house work and sleep.

Hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. Let's do great next week and stay within calorie range and our goals. emoticon

I truly believe food is just as complicated of an addiction as any drug. I struggle myself with the "shut off valve". I don't keep any foods in the house that I know will taunt me, so to speak. If I do let myself have food that strays from my diet, I buy it in a small portion so that it will be gone on the same day. I know the question I asked is odd on a diet site! But, we all have our moments & I was curious about how others reward their success.

It's great that you no longer use food as a reward, I tried the new outfit or shoes or something route, but my self-confidence issues always make that reward feel bad somehow simultaneously so I avoid it. At least for now!

I'm sure you'll reach your ten pounds and have those new boots in no time!! I'll have to try to find a good reward for my first ten pounds as well!!

So tonight I'm going out to eat, and I planned exactly what I'm going to eat so it should let me stay in my calories. Then we're coming home and watching a movie which will be nice. Tomorrow I'll probably go visit my dad since I haven't seen him in a few weeks. What do you all have going on this weekend?

Kimb3rl33 ... interesting question! I honestly came to terms with the fact that I am a food addict . . . so I have learned not to use food as my reward. (Unfortunately, I don't have a shut off valve.) Trust me, not easy. I am just taking it one day at a time. I had a lot of comfort foods that I enjoyed even when I was full. It's hard when life throws me a curve ball, not to turn to my addiction for comfort and this past year has been an extremely difficult time for me. However, with the new year I am starting a new regime of taking care of me by making healthier choices in all aspects of my life . . . from the foods I eat to the company I keep. I am feeling good about 2015. Last night I went to the mall with my daughter and we walked around for two hours browsing and I found a pair of boots I like . . . I have my eye on those as a reward for my 10 pound loss reward! emoticon

Thanks for the support everyone! I am feeling a good deal better, at least I'm to a place now where I can actually think clearly and work on things! Unfortunately, I have a cold though so still no exercise for me right now.

I cheated the other night and had some Ben & Jerry's because every now and then you need a treat! What are some of your favorite "cheat" foods..or as I think of them.. rewards for my hard work! I know you shouldn't reward yourself with food, but I think everyone deserves it!

emoticon Kimb3rl33 that is a tough spot for you to be in. Hang in there and Im sure things will work out the way they should soon.

My beans and rice came out sooo yummy last night. It was only 4 ingredients too for the beans so not sure why they were so good. I'm glad that DH didn't take the leftovers for lunch today since it is fend for yourself night and he has dinner plans. That means I can look forward to something at home instead of grabbing something like I normally do on Wednesday nights. Today I work a longer shift to make up for my short shift on Fridays so I never like to cook when I get home unless it is to throw a frozen entrée or pizza in.

Hope that everyone else is having a healthy day - on to day 7 of gluten free for me.

Michele - Congrats on your weigh in! Keep up the good work :) As for social eating situations, if I'm at a restaurant with friends I try to eat one of the marked low calorie options. Although, this weekend I went to a super unhealthy restaurant with only one item marked and it was not something I like. So I got a sandwich with turkey, avocado, and bacon, and then I only ate half. It was still alot of calories, (500ish) but it was super filling and I didn't have to have a big dinner so I just ate light that evening.

NEELIXNKES - Good job on sticking to your gluten free plan! It's great that you have the motivation to skip the fast food. :)

DTHOR - Your ideas about social eating situations are great. I too find it helpful to track it so if I do make a bad decision I can't shy away from it and I can see exactly what I'm getting for those calories. This always helps me make better decisions the next time.

As for me, I've had a rough few days. My engagement was ended and that really through me for a loop. We are still a couple, but he wasn't as ready for marriage as he thought he was and didn't figure that out until planning started and he got overwhelmed. So we're working on that and it's definitely not easy!! So I've been pretty sad and just laying around. I've been logging the calories though even despite the situation. I can't break the habit or I'll fall completely out of it. Hoping to start exercising tomorrow since I'm feeling a bit better.

Anyway, not to leave on a bad note, just accounting for where I've been. Hope you all had a good day!

emoticon Michele on your weighin! You have plenty of time to work off that snacking. I have been trying to just focus on freggies and water in those moments but it isn't always possible.

I have made it 5.5 days gluten free. Trying to finish out day 6 today. I am just concerned about dinner. I think I am going to leave work at my usual time so that I can cook dinner. It may just be beans and rice but that is better than grabbing fast food with gluten in it at the moment.

Have a healthy day!

Michelle, Sounds like you have a good plan in mind for the day. That is half the battle. I so wish I could walk outside right now but it's been so stinking cold -4 that I dare not try it.

As far as eating at social situations, go for the protein and fill up on veggies is what I do. A lot of the time for me it's mind over matter. I ask myself is it really worth it to me to eat all that stuff and then remind myself I have to log it all and usually I just say forget it. It's not easy by any means but It works for me. Or I will take something that I enjoy and is within my range for the day.

Happy Tuesday! I'm working today, but have my lunch packed and ready to go. Will be walking if weather permits.

We went to my in-law's house last night to watch football and I definitely over-snacked. I couldn't even track it if I wanted to. So, today is a new day and I am ready for it!

How do you handle social eating situations?

Good Morning!

Although it's Monday, I'm ready for the week ahead. I lost 1.6 lbs at my WW meeting on Friday, so I'm pretty motivated to keep going strong. I have my menu all planned out and lunch ready for work today. Got my workout done, but can't walk to work today because it's pouring down rain.

Hope you all have a great start to the week!

Happy Sunday!

It is supposed to snow later this afternoon and tonight. Supposedly just up to 4 inches but who knows. I'm sure by the time I have to go to work tomorrow though the roads will be fine. I do have to work both jobs today though. Hopefully I make it back before the snow starts emoticon I actually made a grocery list this week that is pretty long - partially because of the gluten free stuff and partially because we cleaned out so much of the cabinets. Now to plan the dinners for the week!

Have a healthy day!

Thanks everyone. I am a little excited to get some new to me clothes I literally have nothing that fits that I can wear to work. It's a good problem. But I also hate to spend a ton of money because I am still planning on loosing at least another 70 pounds. And I am getting rid of the clothing as I go. I never want to see these sizes again.

Michele, I hope your WW meeting went well. I love hubby days. Those are some of the best days. I don't get near enough of them with my hubby this time of the year. ( I do taxes for a living) I had to work today and then hubby and I went out to dinner. I don't cook on Friday's. I figure I cook every other day that I can have one day I don't have too. LOL

Kimb3rl33, gotta love shoveling snow. I was actually going to do it the other day and by the time I got around to it the darn stuff was already packed to the driveway. So I said forget it. It's been crazy cold here and I am with you. 30 sounds like a heat wave.

Deb, hopefully your insurance will cover the cost of the clinic. Maybe you won't need medicine maybe they have a way to help without it. Some people just really don't like taking the meds. It can get scary at times I am sure. I have learned a ton just going to nutrition classes. I really had to learn how to eat. I wasn't eating enough for my body not to starve. It's amazing what the classes will teach you.

Well I get to work tomorrow rearranging one of our offices so I guess I need to get ready for bed. Have a great night everyone.

Thanks everyone - I'm actually not sure and won't know until I go for the consultation. They do have a 8 or 12 week organized meeting that includes nutrition classes and exercise evaluations but they use different approaches for each patient depending on weight, health needs, etc. The pills make me nervous because of the potential for heart issues. I discussed it only briefly with DH the other night so I need to find out if it is covered by our insurance or if it is all out of pocket. It looks like it isn't affiliated with my clinic but with the hospital so that may change the potential benefits - insurance- crazy things. I did look into the cost of the gym associated with the hospital. It isn't exactly convenient but they do have pools and there are two locations that can be used. It was a bit pricier than I thought it would be for a hospital fitness center but who knows.

Kim - emoticon on the good week and for needing to shop out of your own closet! Keep it up and enjoy thrifting this weekend. Glad the heat got fixed.

Kimb3rl33 - emoticon on shoveling. I hate doing it and hope that this is the last round of snow we get this year but that is asking a lot :)

Michele - Hope your WW meeting goes well!

Better get back to work. Have a health day!

Kim - It's awesome that you're doing so well with your goals & have to buy new clothes (even if it is a pain)! Glad to hear that you're doing really well with your goals. I've been doing pretty good this week too, you're post here is motivating me to get to where I can buy new clothes too!! :) Glad that your power situation is fixed so that you can stay warm!

Deb - I went to a weight loss clinic myself and they prescribed an amphetamine. It did work, but it made me feel awful and when I stopped taking it the weight came back. But, I do work with a few people that had much more to lose than I do and it worked well & they have kept the weight off. I suppose it just depends on the person and what skills they learn in the process of taking the drug and/or liquid diet!

I spent the evening shoveling snow as my workout, and I am beat! It's amazing how tiring that is. It's supposed to snow a bit more tonight, but be back in the 30s by the weekend. Which sadly, 30 degrees sounds downright toasty right now!

Deb, I agree with you whole heartedly. I would much rather have to snow than the cold it was -4 here this morning. Liquid diets are a good quick fix, but that isn't teaching you how to eat correctly. It's odd that the doctor would want to put you on that.

Michele, The stinking power went out 9 times last night. I am so glad that they finally fixed the issue. It's too cold for that to happen right now.

I am doing really good this week. Along with being back to work full time I don't have time to think about snacking. I am so loving it! I have been packing my lunch so I am not tempted to eat out with the girls when they go out. I am just happy to eat whatever I pack so that is a huge nsv for me. I am def going to have to go clothes shopping this weekend though. I have nothing that fits anymore. Which is a huge thing but I just hate to buy a bunch of clothes knowing I won't be in them long. I need to go to the thrift store I suppose.

Well, I need to get dinner started. I hope you all have a great evening.

Hugs,
Kim

Good Morning! I am so sorry for all you having such cold weather. It has been cold and foggy here in the morning, but once the fog burns off, it's been sunny and 60 degrees. I love it, but my hubby and son are not liking that there isn't snow on our local mountain for skiing/snowboarding. We really do need some wintery weather here in Southern Oregon.

2011Nonna~It's hard for me to get motivated to clean ANYTHING on my days off. I have to make a game of it by rewarding myself for each chore~lol!

Kimb3rl33~Sorry you're sore, but I guess that means you worked hard! You're smart to give yourself a rest day. Have fun shopping with your friends this weekend!

Kim~Hope your power is staying on. How frustrating! I don't think I'd be prepared if ours went off for any length of time.

Deb~Hope you decide on the best thing to do for you. What kind of class is it that your Dr. wants you to go to? What medication and liquid is it? Be sure to research some on your own to make the best decision.

I've been doing pretty good this week with my tracking and exercise, but not so good with my reading or projects. I need to drink more water, too.

Today I'm off work and will be doing laundry and working on sorting through boxes my hubby brought down from the attic. One of our big projects for the year is to clean out and organize the attic, so this is step one. Hopefully, I'll get in some reading time, too.

What are you doing today? Make the most of it, whatever you're doing!

Ugh - I would much rather have snow than this bone piercing cold. I swear my muscles were freezing just in the short times I was out today.

Went to the endo today - not great news on the weight front. She wants me to attend a weight loss clinic that will probably prescribe a drug and liquid diet. Not sure how I feel about that but I need to do something.

Hope that everyone is staying warm where it is cold and enjoying their weather if its not!

Have a terrific Thursday!

The weather is yucky here as well. It's 8 degrees with a windchill below zero. And for some reason my power keeps going out. I hope it doesn't happen anymore. It's too cold.

The weather here is awful too! We have about 8 inches of snow, and a wind chill of negative 20! Really ready to just move to the beach and sell seashells for enough money for food, I'll spend the rest of my time reading in my hammock! haha

I am taking a day off from exercise, my body is so sore from re-starting my exercise routine.. so I figure I need a day to rest the muscles and then get back at it tomorrow.

I'm definitely ready for the weekend, hopefully the next two days will fly by. I am hoping to go to the mall with a few friends for the semi-annual sales which are always fun because I'm cheap!

Anyone have any fun plans this weekend?

Good Morning!
Another work day for me. I wasn't able to take my walks yesterday because I was orienting a new person to our department. I should be able to make it happen today.

I have a new chili recipe set to go in the crockpot. I LOVE coming home to dinner already done! Does anyone else use their crockpot? I'm always looking for new recipes :)

Kimb3rl33~I have a fit bit zip which is basically a really nice pedometer. It tracks steps, miles and I think calories? I use it just for the steps. It's so little and cute (hot pink!) and I think it's pretty accurate. I've had it for a couple of years and it's held up great. I have the fitbit app on my phone and it links the info from the fitbit to my phone so I can see progress over time. It also sends you messages when you reach goals or milestones. I don't know about the wrist ones or the ones that track even more stuff, but I'm sure there are tons of reviews out there!

Have a great day, everyone!

Michelelynn - This my new year too :) I wanted to really start on Monday & like you, I had sweets laying around. They are all gone for the most part, and what isn't I've put in a box and my fiance keeps it in the office with him and away from me!

Good luck on your 10,000 steps goal. I'm considering getting a fit bit as a motivational tool and as an additional tracker. Does anyone have one? Is it actually worth the cost if so? I'm not one to really want to drop 100.00 on an item, but I will if it's as awesome as it sounds!

Kim - Thanks for the links to free books, I'll have to check those out :) I do get Bookbub though and I've gotten some great books using it, but it's hit and miss. I have about 80 free books on my Kindle now though, so maybe I should read a few of those first! :D

Good Morning!

I feel like today is really the start to the new year (probably because it's Monday). Why do we always want to start on a Monday? Anyway, I only had a small gain over the holidays, but it's time to get back to following a menu and making healthier choices. There is still some candy lurking around, but no other sweets.

I am back to work today. It's actually easier to stay on track during the work day. I bring my lunch and snacks so I am able to stick to my plan. I am going to walk to work as long as it isn't raining and will try to take a couple of walks during my breaks. This is all for my goal to reach 10,000 steps a day. I have rarely done this, so I know i should start small and work toward it, but I want to see how close I can actually get on a daily basis.

Kimb3rl33~Good job on the restart! I haven't changed my weight or measurements in a long time. Unfortunately, it's about 5 lbs higher than the last time I tracked it here :( We just got our tree down yesterday. We don't have a cat to entertain~lol!

Deb~Good for you making a complete overhaul of the cabinets! I did that over the summer and have tried using what I have, but there are still those items that linger. Good luck on your gluten-free. I know many people who feel a lot better eating that way.

Kim~Thanks for sharing all the links for free books. I am subscribed to Bookbub, but hadn't heard of the others. I will check them out. I also love my kindle! It's ridiculous how many books I have in my archives~way more than I could ever read in my life! Like you, most of the ones I have are free books and for some reason, I keep adding more and more~lol!

Hello everyone I hope you all had a great weekend. Tomorrow is back to the real world. Ugh why do weekends go by so quickly?

The weather here is cruddy as well. It's been rainy and dreary. I am so not a winter person, I would rather is be sunny and warm year round. Guess I really need to move out of Ohio.

I hope it's ok that I post this and noone minds.

I love love love my Kindle. I have so many to be read books that it isn't funny. But I thought I would share these websites for freebies. I get 4 emails a day with free or really reduced priced books. You can pick and choose which if any you want to download. There is no strings attached. And I am not soliciting for any of these sites just wanted to share some freebies with you all. The first one is Pixel of Ink www.pixelofink.com/ The second is A Cheap Romance. www.acheapromance.com/ The third is Bookbub
landers.bookbub.com/covers/ and the last is Booklemer www.booklemur.com all you have to do is put in your email address and then it will take you to a page that gives you options of what kind of books you like to read and then you are done. Free books will come to you. I have gotten so many that have been truly awesome. And just thought I would share.

Enjoy,
Kim

Happy 2015!

Hope that everyone had a fabulous holiday season. It sounds like I am not the only one that needs to buckle down and get to work. I have been dreading going completely gluten free so I think I went overboard for a week or two. Fortunately it didn't cause a huge weight gain this holiday season. I don't want to be the weight I am right now at my niece's wedding in October though so I am embarking on the gluten free experiment and actually made it completely gluten free yesterday. My weight was down about 1.6 lbs this morning so this may be interesting. It was back to my previous weight from last week.

We had been working on cleaning out the cabinets slowly but yesterday I decided that we needed to just overhaul the cabinets, get rid of the expired food (more than I care to admit for so many reasons), clean out most of the gluten containing food, and clean the actual cabinets. We still have some work left to do but it is coming along.

The weather here is pretty cruddy as well Kimb3rl33. It is the first really snow of the season at the moment and it is supposed to continue until Tuesday. I had hoped that they were wrong about the snow but no such luck. Here is hoping that it doesn't get too bad.

Good to see you back posting Michele!

Well, I need to work today so better get moving, I haven't done much of anything except clean off one shelf this morning.

Have a healthy day!

~Deb

I just got back from Kentucky last night, so today is rest day. I did log all my measurements and my weight for my restart. Surprisingly, I'm doing better than I thought. I have my Christmas stuff down except for outside lights and I always leave the Christmas tree up an extra week or so because my cat is obsessed with it and I feel bad. haha

The weather here is pretty terrible (Elkins, WV) it's supposed to be about two degrees tomorrow. I'm ready to pack up and move to the beach!!

How was everyone's weekend?

So glad to see you here again Kimb3rl33! I haven't been on SP much lately either, but trying to get back in the habit for the same reason as you~community support!

I met a friend for coffee this morning and did a couple of errands. Took a walk this afternoon in the cold, but sunny weather~such a beautiful day here in So. Oregon! I'm almost done setting my goals for the year and more focused goals for the month and will post a blog soon. So far, I haven't done very well, but I think mentally I'm thinking of Monday as my start date.

Any plans for the weekend? I'm going to be taking down the rest of the Christmas decorations and hopefully have some time to sit down and read :)

It has been quite a while since I've logged in, and this year I've made it part of my goal to participate in this more because I need community & my actual town lacks in that department! Thank goodness for the internet.

I didn't watch the football games, but I did watch the parade, those floats amaze me.

I also looked at the book list that was posted, it's a great idea.. not one I'll personally use because I'll admit, I'm horribly lazy about these things..but it's still neat.

I didn't read hardly any books this year it seems, hit the year end with 20. My goal this year is 30, I picked my goal to be 40 last year and that may have been more than I could handle!

As for celebrating the New Year, I went out for dinner and was asleep before 10! I can never make it anymore. I do make resolutions, but attainable ones. This year mine were: to meet my weight loss goals, read more books, and travel somewhere new :)

Happy New Year, Everyone! I haven't been checking in here lately, but I am resolving to do better :)

I am enjoying a relaxing morning and then over to my in-law's house to watch the University of Oregon Ducks play in the Rose Bowl. Both my mother and father-in-law are alumni, so they are excited. I personally don't care too much about football, but it will be fun to hang out with everyone.

Tasogareban~That looks like a good list to follow. I'm going to use some of the ideas, but since I only read about 50 books in a year, I don't want to be locked into choosing a book I might not like just to hit a certain category. I'm going to send the list to my daughter, too. She reads a lot! Thanks for sharing and good luck on your reading goals this year :)

What are you doing to celebrate the New Year? Do you make resolutions or set goals for the year? I'm still working on mine...

Hello Everyone!

How is your day today? We are having a snow day, and I am enjoying not having to go anywhere! A good day to read! I just finished The Giver Quartet this morning, and now I need to embrace the chance to get some exercise shoveling snow. I do not know what I will read next. I do not have either Incantation for this book club, or Rose Daughter for my other book club. Hmmmm... Maybe something non-fiction.

PEANUTSMOM96~ I struggle with that too. I have read the same articles that say you should only keep the sizes that fit you, but when I lost weight before, it was exciting to have the smaller clothes fit. I did not like a lot of them though, and ended up donating them. I lost 70 pounds before gaining most of it back. I got rid of all the larger clothes as I got smaller, and had to buy new ones as I got bigger again. Ugh! Some of the smaller clothes are beautiful, and I would love to wear them again, and though part of me appreciates the money already spent, part of me sees them as a source of failure. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I can put them in totes and store them in the attic. I do not lack space. I do believe that if we let things go that we do not need, what we do receive what we need.

I hope that everyone is having a great day!

Peace and Many Blessings!

Jenny

Thanks for the advice :0) I am leaning towards keeping a couple things and donating the rest.

IMHO - If you love the pieces or if they are currently in fashion, I would keep them. If they really aren't your style or you never liked the way they fit before, I would donate. I have 1 pair of jeans that aren't in style but I am keeping them just to see if I get back into that size again. They are the smallest pants I ever bought. Heck - that size isn't even the same size these days because they are so old but they are my goal pants for the moment. They will make a great Halloween Costume when I get there emoticon

Hey gang, I need some advice please. I'm going through my clothes and getting rid of (donating) things I no longer wear. I've come across quite a few items that are currently to small for me. Once I reach my goal weight I will fit them. Should I hold on to them for when I do or get rid of them and go shopping. I don't have much space in my small apartment and have less money to go shopping. I've read articles that say you should get rid of smaller stuff cuz it can be frustrating and be counterproductive to reaching goals. What say you? Keep or donate? What reasons are you considering?

69 hours without power, that's terrible.

We went 5 full days several years ago due to a summer storm a few years back. It inspired us to make a big purchase- a generator. Of course, since then the weather has been just fine, LOL.

Thanks for the tips on gardening. I don't have any where to plant things in the ground. I live in an apartment but I might be able to grow some in large pots.

emoticon Freespiritchild! I'm glad your power is back on! I have never been without for more than a few hours and even that was inconvenient. I can't imagine 69 hours! Good for you to get out with your dog in the midst of such a stressful situation. Thanks for joining our team~look forward to getting to know you.

Kelleyboo~There are lots of books on gardening! I have had some kind of garden for the past several years. It is very hit or miss for me. Some things work and some don't, but it's still fun to see little seeds turn into fruit/veggie bearing plants. I have some things in pots (peppers, herbs, strawberries) and the rest in raised beds that my husband built for me. I hope you'll try it next year~you may fall in love with it like me!

I have made it 3 days without sweets and feel so proud of myself! It's going to get a little more tricky because my daughter is coming down with a friend for the weekend. That means I will be baking cookies. I will just have to be strong! Also, we are helping with a miniature golf fundraiser tournament tomorrow night with a catered dinner/dessert. I know this is real life, but that's the problem~there are so many opportunities for treats every day! It really does come down to choices and I know that I can't choose to have a treat EVERY time and expect to lose weight. This week is to prove to myself that I can say no when I choose to.

What kind of goals are you working on? Hope you have a wonderful day, everyone!

Hello everyone! New here and thought I would hop in!

We finally got our power back yesterday after 69 hours without! Had a tropical storm (Arthur) blow through on Saturday and knocked almost everyone's power out! I am spending my day cleaning up, mainly in my kitchen, and cleaning out my fridge since most of our food went bad. I did steal a few minutes this morning before getting to work walking with my dog. T'was a much needed escape back in the woods behind our house and now I am feeling a bit more energized to tackle the task at hand!

Hope everyone else is having a good day!

Kelleyboo~Congrats on winning a book from your library! I didn't join in our summer reading program, but I should have. They do them for children and teens, too. My kids always did it when they were young~lots of fun and encourages reading :)

I am a little frustrated with myself because between vacation and then the 4th of July, I gained back almost everything I lost in June. My tracking has been very sporadic and so has my exercise. I have a sweets hangover and will be giving them up this week cold-turkey!

On a positive note, my little garden has given me beautiful carrots, green beans, snap peas and tomatoes. I also have 3 bell peppers and 2 cucumbers almost ready to harvest. My garden is very small, but it makes me so excited to see my little crop growing :)

Back to regular work schedule tomorrow (which for me is part-time~so blessed!). I will be getting back to weight watchers and back to checking in with you all here on SP, too.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday!

Kimb3rl33~ emoticon emoticon So happy for you! Also, it's good to have you back! As far a gluten free, I don't personally have any recipes, but I see tons of great ideas on pinterest. Otherwise, I would just do an internet search. It's so common now that there are tons of resources out there. Good luck!

We are leaving this morning for our road trip up to Seattle/Lake Chelan. I'm very excited, but getting out the door is always a challenge. I am kinda freaky about having the house in order before we leave. It will be about a 7 hour drive today. We will pick up our daughter tomorrow and head to the lake, about 2 hours from Seattle. The weather is supposed to be nice, so I'm thankful for that. I have lots of healthy (and some not-so-healthy) snacks packed. I'm hoping I can talk my boys into listening to an audiobook, but they usually resist and we just listen to music which allows for talking.

Do you like road trips? What is your favorite way to pass the time?

Hi everyone! It's been a month, not proud of that but I'm back now. Just got back from vacation and I got engaged. Nothing like a ring to remind you its time to get motivated! I started working out early in the morning to accommodate my two jobs. I also am on a two week trial of gluten free because I have all the symptoms of gluten sensitivity. It's only day one but I hope to notice positive changes.

Michelle your vacation sounds so fun! I've always wanted to visit the area.

Anyone have any gluten free recipes you've tried? I could use some ideas. Have a great day!

It's a beautiful day here in Southern Oregon! Yesterday it rained and today everything looks so bright and happy. This morning I will be going out on the golf course with my hubby~I will not be playing golf, but just walk around with him and enjoy the time together.

Later today, I am going to be making my list for our vacation~a road trip to Seattle and Lake Chelan. I want to make/pack some healthy road snacks and also food for our 4 days at the lake where we will have our own kitchen. I also want to sit outside and finish my book~I'm 91% thorough it. Then I will be starting one of our monthly reads Calling Me Home.

What do you have going on this weekend? Any fun vacations coming up this summer?

WooHoo! It's Friday! I had my official weigh in this morning at Weight Watchers and it was nice to have a loss after a small gain last week. I got in a little exercise this last week, but I think my food choices are what really made the difference. If I could just sync up the diet and exercise, I would probably make my goal weight!

Finished 2 books and close to finishing another. If you haven't picked up The Rosie Project yet, it is a quick, fun read! It also happens to be one of the books we are discussing this month :)

Hope you have a nice day. Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?

Hi Book Club!

I am officially on vacation although we aren't leaving until next week. My son is finishing up his finals this week and then we are heading up to Washington to pick up our daughter for a 4-day trip to Lake Chelan. We have never been there so we are looking forward to a fun family adventure!

For the rest of the week, I will be getting the yard in shape and doing all the chores that need to get done before leaving town. I'm hoping to finish a couple books, too :)

We have quite a few new members~WELCOME! Please feel free to leave comments, suggestions or questions for any of us. We look forward to getting to know you better. Let us know what you're reading and join in our monthly discussions if you're interested. We have a GREAT team!

Good morning! I hope everyone is enjoying the Memorial Day weekend. We didn't make any plans, but it's been nice to have the extra time to get some things done around the house. Today my husband will be going to his family's graveside to do some maintenance around it. I will be going with my mom to my dad's graveside at the VA cemetery. It always brings tears to my eyes when I see all the flags and realize that everyone there served our country to give us the freedom we have.

I've been doing pretty well with my food choices~still tracking with WW points and it seems to be working for me. Exercise is still hit or miss. It has been worse this past week as I am having some symptoms of plantar fasciitis on my left foot. I also got stung by a bee on a toe on my right foot and it is swollen and itchy.

I'm looking forward to some time this afternoon to sit in the sun and read. I am trying to finish up several books right now. I don't know why I read so many at one time...I think it started with having so many to choose from on my kindle and now it's a habit.

Hope you have today off to do something fun!

Kimberlee~It's so good to see you here! I was just on my goodreads and your name pops up there, too :) I can completely relate to being thrown off your routine. My daughter was home for just 4 days and it totally derailed me from everything! I am still struggling to get back on track. Tomorrow is my WW meeting, so that should help get me focused. Hopefully once your mom is settled in, you can make a routine around your new work schedule. You definitely need to get some good shoes to help your feet, too. I am ready for some new work shoes, too. Not a fun way to spend money, but so important. Glad you like your new job and you're getting some nice weather.

Today I went into work for a few hours to cover a co-worker who had to take her mom to the Dr. I walked to and from work, but that's the only exercise I did today. My hubby came home early and we separated some plants in our yard to take over to my mom's house to plant in one of her flower beds. Every year for mother's day, I plant a bed with flowers, but this year she requested some of the perennials from my yard instead of annuals. They should do well, but it's been a little warm here and I'm afraid they might not make it.

I am going to make a menu tonight or tomorrow morning and go grocery shopping after my WW meeting. I think I need to make an exercise menu to follow, too~lol!

Hope everyone finishes the week strong! Let us know what you're going to be doing this weekend :)

I haven't been doing the best! These last two weeks have been so hectic. My mom moved in with me until the first of the year, and I started a second job. I am completely out of my routine..so i haven't been exercising or tracking. I've also been working in a different area at work and it's really killing my super flat feet. I am really hoping I can get back into my routine, because I feel awful!

On a lighter note, I do like my second job even though I'm completely exhausted! The weather has also finally warmed up so that has been great.

Hope you have all had a great Wednesday! I was supposed to work, but got called off because it wasn't busy enough. Since I work in short stay surgery, I guess it's a good thing that there aren't a ton of people having surgery :)

I ended up doing some yard work which is never ending. I read in the sun for awhile and now I am getting ready to head out to meet some girls from work for a get together.

Food has been going pretty well~I'm tracking consistently with WW points and exercise is ok. I still need to push myself to do more.

How has your week been going? Let us know what's new with you :)

Michelelynn, so good to hear from you! I have been baaaaaaaad with sweets lately - have had birthdays and holidays with temptations galore. I have to admit that I gave in more than a little! We have another birthday this evening (my little Lola is one today - I can't believe it!). I'm sure I'll partake of the dessert. I'm going to get in a workout to compensate a little for the extra calories. How wonderful that you and your mom are tackling the picture project together. You'll be creating new memories as you review the old ones. Good luck with the weigh-in on Friday!

Good Morning! I'm sorry I haven't been very active here lately, but I am so happy to read all of your posts and see great things going on with you all. Luvinpurple's weight loss, Steph's dreadlocks and vacation plans, Stoneyhillmom's good news about test results and advocating reading in the school libraries, Shesmith's continual encouragement to our team members and Kimberlee's upcoming vacation from work. Lots going on with everyone!

Have had a couple blips this week with food choices~craving sweets/carbs and finally gave in a little. I tracked most days and will see the fall out on my weigh in on Friday. I am going to get a work out in this morning and meeting my mom later to organize pictures. It's much more fun to have someone else with me during this overwhelming project. My mom is scanning old slides into her computer, so we are motivating each other.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi everyone! It's been a bit. I was trying to catch up on what everyone said, saw some weight loss (congrats!) and I felt sad reading about the current state of our education system and their unwillingness to foster the love of reading. It is a shame that technology is just crushing that part of our society. I rarely see a young person who loves to read anymore and that is just so sad!

Steph- I really like your dreads! I have always thought they were gorgeous! Way to go on taking a step to do something you wanted!

As for me, I'm just anxiously awaiting my vacation from work the second week of June. I'm not going anywhere this year due to finances, but I'm happy to just have a week to do what I want. By then the farmer's market will be back & it will be nice out so I plan to spend some time at my mom's back porch reading & taking trips in town. Most importantly, I'm going to relax!

Happy Easter Everyone! emoticon

Changed my profile pic so you can see the dreads. I added more photos on my spark page so you can see them there. I am really liking the dreads. I wake up and my hair is done. My favorite way to wear them is to take the front section tie a knot on my head and go!!!! Hope everyone has a great Easter emoticon

I agree with Steph, Stoneyhillmom, stay on the soap box! I have friends who teach elementary school who are appalled at the current mandatory reading curriculum. Keep preaching, sister!

Steph, you've GOT to post a picture with your dreads! I cannot imagine your hair holding them. I can't wait to see them! Have a wonderful vacation!!!

Happy Easter to all!

STONEYHILLMOM please stay on your soap box!!!!!!!!!! Reading is knowledge. Need more caring people to show our kids the love of reading. Glad your test came back normal!

We leave in 17 days on vacation and I am counting down! Not for sure if I will reach my weight goal, but I am ok with that. I feel good and know I am healthier. And that is my #1 goal. After vacation I am joining weight watchers for some real accountability. Loved it a few years ago, Then I got a big head and thought I can do this all by myself. Not the case for me.

I got dreads over the weekend and I love it. I have always wanted them. So I finally said why not! Its amazing how eating healthy and working out can give you the boost of confidence you need to do something wild emoticon

Can it really be Monday again? Well, at least it is a 4 day week! Hope everyone is well and staying motivated. My test results were "basically normal" which (I think) is a good thing. (I really hate ambiguous words like "basically".) Anyway, that part is a relief, but the issues that sent me in the first place still remain. So on to medication to regulate things. Ugh. Or, I guess, yay!

Otherwise, life goes on. Last week was our statewide librarian convention. It made me want to read, read, read! At the same time, it was worrisome because of the way teaching technology is taking over what school librarians are expected to do. We don't teach reading or the love of reading anymore, and with more and more rigorous state testing, no one has the time or energy to encourage reading for its own sake.

Off my soap box now! Have a good week!

Happy Monday everyone! Hope everyone is doing well. I am looking forward to this week because it is the last one before my coworker comes back from maternity leave and I can go back to my regular schedule. Yay!

I weighed in yesterday for my first week on Weight Watchers at 301.6 and had lost 8.4 lbs!!
Today, I weighed in for another team at 298.4! Even better. This is the first time I have been below the 300 mark in probably two or three years. Now I just need to keep it off. I'm finding I have no energy to exercise and I really want to. I started out going strong, but lately I've lost it. Of course, it could just be that I'm tired maybe. End of semester is here and I have a million things to do. Plus, I'm working more hours.

I hope everyone has a great week!
Dee

Long week of struggling with my allergies and birthdays at work. I ate cake & pie! It was not my best diet week. But, I'm on track now, and work is birthday free for a while now! It's finally a spring day here, it's beautiful out which has given me some much needed motivation.

Luvinpurple - Good luck with your school work! I just graduated, I was also working full time and going to school full time. It was hectic and a struggle, but now that I'm done honestly I'm not sure what to do with my time! lol It is nice though that I can read for enjoyment now, not for work. :) Also congrats on your weight loss! That is a great amount of loss for such a short time!!

Hi, everyone! Life is crazy busy right now with the end of the semester coming up. I have a test for my online class that I have to take by Sunday at midnight and another one that starts next week. I've gotten behind in my reading, too, so looks like I will be cramming this weekend. I don't want to lose my A's, though. It's no fun reading college textbooks, even when you like the topic. I open my book and a few pages later I want to close my eyes. Working full-time and going to college full-time isn't as easy as people think, especially when you aren't as young as you used to be. :)

I'm doing well with my weight loss, though. I have been struggling for a long time to get below the 300 mark and I am so close. Today the scale said 300.6. I got really close in February and got to 301, but then gained. I'm doing Weight Watchers now, though, and I think that is helping. February 1st I was weighing 314 so I think it's an improvement and I'm excited about that!

I still want to read Dreamers of the Day and Divergent and I had planned on reading them this month. Unfortunately, college has gotten in the way. I need to clone myself so I will have time to spend hours reading leisurely!

Kimberlee, I am jealous! I didn't get a Kindle credit! Ha!

Stoneyhillmom, I hope the test results come back good. My doctor tried to do one of those tests in the office one day when I came in for a routine visit and I nearly passed out. The called it vasogil or something symptoms. I never can say it right. guess it's cause I have no pain tolerance. She said that 1% of the population get those symptoms. It was horrible. I'm glad you were able to handle yours. I've heard they sometimes can prescrible 1 Valium pill to give patients before the procedure to help with the pain. Ha! I don't think the Valium would have helped me. Heck, they had to do an IUD insertion in the operating room and then had to take it out the next day due to complications because I was in so much pain. My aunt always tells me I would never survive childbirth.

Michele, I hope you are enjoying the great weather and getting some seeds planted.

Have a great weekend!
Dee

Good morning, everyone! I am so happy to see the activity here! I can't believe how quickly the weekend has gone by, but I am going to enjoy today and gear up for the week ahead. My hubby is out of town on business right now, so I have had a lot more time for reading and watching shows and movies he doesn't particularly care for. I did get some of my seeds planted~snow and snap peas, lettuce, carrots, radishes. I've never grown carrots or radishes and have rarely started my garden from seed, so we'll see how it goes.

Luvinpurple~I agree that it's important to find what you will love to do. It sounds like you are passionate about helping children which is so admirable. Hope your mood has improved and you are feeling better.

Steph~So happy that your son did so well in his track meet! It's so fun to watch kids excel at something they are working at :)

Shesmith~Good for you signing up for a trainer~that will definitely motivate you! Don't be too jealous of my garden as it's fairly small and usually my snap peas and lettuce are the only things that grow~lol!

Stoneyhillmom~Thanks for updating us on your test results. Continued prayers for the biopsy results. I'm jealous of the sunshine as we've had clouds and rain. I think it's supposed to be nice today or tomorrow, though :)

Kimberlee~Hope all is well with you! I will be checking to see if I got the credit for my kindle, too :)

Hope you all enjoy your Sunday!

I missed a few days on this thread, so I did not see about your test, but I hope it all works out well for you. :)

I had a Kindle credit too, apparently it's from a lawsuit they were involved in for the way the amount they charge customers for e-books. Doesn't matter to me, I'll take the free book money! haha

Hello all,
Many, many thanks for all the prayers and kind words. Yesterday I had a sonogram which then led to an "endometrial biopsy". This was at least as much fun as it sounds emoticon I am now waiting on results. Dr is optimistic that it is not serious, so I am trying to take the same approach and just be thankful that I have a thorough, cautious dr. I must say that sonograms are much more fun when one is pregnant than when drs are looking for what's wrong. Ugh.

Got an email from Amazon today that I have $2.50 in Kindle credit. Woo hoo! Have no idea how I got it but I have been happily shopping for a new read :) Haven't settled on one yet, though.

Looking forward to a beautiful weekend here. Hopefully you all will have a good one too :)

Hi, everyone!

I'm tired and grumpy today. Night before last I forgot to take my sleep meds until 1:30am. Well, then I didn't fall asleep until after 3am because they take awhile to kick in for me. I thought being cranky yesterday was because of a lack of sleep. Then, last night I sleep like nine hours and even took an 1 1/2 nap this afternoon. And, I'm still cranky and tired.

So....that's me today! I hope everyone else is having a better day. I will write more another day when I don't feel like yelling at everyone! :)

Stonehillmom, I trust your procedure went well and you are able to put this behind you. Please let us know how we can continue to pray.

Luvinpurple, I admire your desire to help hurting children. There are so many in need of a good advocate and counselor. Best wishes for continued success in school and future employment.

Steph, what great track results for your son! He must be flying high (almost as high as his proud mama!)!

Michele, I so envy your garden spot! I wish I had a sunny patch of land to toil. I'll just keep visiting the farmers' markets for my goodies, jealous of every vendor there.

It's interesting how so many of us have hopped on the accountability boat. I just met with a personal trainer on Monday and told him "I need accountability!" I can only afford to see him 30 mins every other week. I think that will help hold me to more consistency with my exercise - knowing he will be measuring my progress.

WE CAN DO THIS, FELLOW BOOKWORMS!!!!!
