I'm reading "Three Steps to Enlightenment" by Gary Rutz and also "The Spark" by Chris Downe.

I have a bunch of free ebooks that I downloaded, but I want to get through some of these books on buddhism and enlightenment that I downloaded when I was learning about zen buddhism while researching a paper on Japan for my Multiculturalism class. I am intrigued by the idea of enlightenment. As soon as I get done, back to some good ole' fiction!

Hi everyone! I'm Alana! I am currently reading Between Sisters by Kristin Hannah. It's not bad, but I'm having a hard time digging in to it. It may be because I've been reading a lot of YA and it's just a different style of writing.

I am currently reading " The Supreme Macaroni Company" by Adriana Trigiani. I have not read anything by this author, but I am a new fan. She is a great writer.

I am also reading "Killing Jesus" by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard. It is an interesting read.

Happy Reading.

I had a longing for Nora Roberts and swamps so I am re-reading Carolina Moon. Out of all the TV adaptations of her books, it is the only one I think they did any justice. But I love all Nora Roberts books pretty much. I just finished Tribute before this one and I think I will read High Noon, before moving on to some quality time with Anne Rice.

The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. I'm really enjoying it. It may not be for everyone. The protagonist has Asperger's Syndrome. I used to work with austistic clients, and had a psychiatrist in my department that I'm sure had Asperger's. I find it fascinating. This is, of course, fiction. The author either did a great deal of research into the syndrome, has lived with it personally (in himself or someone near and dear), and/or is a fan of the Sheldon character on "The Big Bang." He nails the characterization. The story line is based on this character (Don) learning to deal with emotions, and actually desiring to be more "normal" in order to fit in and gain the favor of Rosie.
According to Kindle, I'm 84% through. I'm looking forward to seeing the results of his project.

Also continuing with Made to Crave.

You know Kimb3rl33, that has been the beginning of quite a few of some excellent series that I absolutely loved .... The Russians most notably. What is it with these awful, drudgingly beginnings? However, I look forward to your thoughts when you finish since this is one series I also want to read. It'll be nice to know how much I must wade through before it gets good!

Still have the awful headache - hubby now has one that is getting worse - and youngest daughter was hit in the eye with a stick, which thankfully only hit the "white" of her eye, but still may need to take her to the doctor tomorrow, just have to keep an eye on it for the moment. However, I was able to finish yet another book and I shan't complain!!

Just finished "Fathers and Sons" by Ivan Turgenev for a school reading assignment that is due Tuesday. While a fairly easy read, it was just bleh. So glad to be finished with it!

***Russia and the Soviet Union - school text book that we actually have to read (Chpt 9 due Tuesday)
***Edenbrooke - book club book for this month for this board - by living room chair
***Carved in Bone by Jefferson Bass - in purse
***Experiences in Divine Liturgy by Protopresbyter Stephanos K - by bed

EOCROSSFITMOM - I am really trying to get into Outlander because it comes highly recommended to me by some friends. The beginning though is really, incredibly boring (at least to me). I have yet to get to the major part of the story though so maybe the character development is just slow to start. I will keep trying it once I finish the Divergent series though, because I can't stand to give up on a book!

There is one positive to come out of the insistent headache I cannot get rid of - plenty of reading time since I scarcely seem to do much else.

I just finished "Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker." I must concur, MichelleLynn, that the first 2/3's of the book is quite dry with specific battle information which honestly does nothing to further the storyline. Since so much of the book was consumed with that type of information it threw me for a loop when there turned to out to be a real story in the last 1/3 of the book. Not that there wasn't real story in the first 2/3's. However, this book does make me want to pick up book mentioned (I don't know where you are in the book so I won't reveal any details concerning it).

Eocrossfitmom~I *may* have read one or two of the Narnia books to my kids, but I think hubby was probably the one to get through them. One of the pastors at church always references Narnia in his sermons and gets so excited about it, so I decided I should read through the series~lol! Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker is not for a group, but I just wanted to read it. It's ok on audio, but my mind tends to wander a bit at some of the historical/political parts. I still have a ways to go to finish it, but I will finish it :)

Just finished Edenbrooke for this book club's reading. Still reading:

The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis
Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker by Jennifer Chiaverini (audio)
Made to Crave by Lysa Terkheurst

Started:
Divergent by Veronica Roth
A Constant Heart by Siri Mitchell

Kimb3rl33 ~ I just finished the series last night! I want to read Outlander as I have two books of the series on my shelf (not sure where they came from) but neither is the first one and I keep forgetting to get it at the library cause I'm so caught up in book club books - maybe one day!

I just finished "Allegiant" last night. Still have a stupid headache this morning - hoping to make it to church but I know there will be lots of reading in my future this afternoon if my head keeps this up

Right now I'm finishing up Insurgent by Veronica Roth, I got Insurgent & Allegiant for Valentine's Day so I switched to that. I was reading Outlander, but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to really get into it, but I'm going to keep trying. I've also been on goodreads and I've found tons more I want to read!

MichelleLynn ~ I tend to have lots going but some spells are wetter than others lol Is this your first time reading The Magician's Nephew? I read the whole series to my kids when they were younger - it took about a year to get through all the books. I love that we're reading two of the same books! Are you reading Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker for a book club or pleasure? I have several friends doing the Made to Crave study.

DBeau ~ I'm on goodreads, too ... I think I'm one of the most active of my friends, though I do have a few that are fairly active just not in the same capacity as I am.

Just finished listening to "The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion" by Fannie Flagg - I will have to hit the library tomorrow to find another audiobook to take it's place

***Allegiant is due back now so I'm furiously reading as fast as this blasted headache will let me and thus has taken presidence over....
***Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker (book club on Monday)
***Fathers and Sons by Ivan Turgenev - school reading assignment (halfway finished!) - must be finished by Tuesday
***Edenbrooke - book club book for this month for this board
***Carved in Bone by Jefferson Bass - in purse
***Experiences in Divine Liturgy by Protopresbyter Stephanos K - by bed
***Russia and the Soviet Union - school text book that we actually have to read - reading as assigned

Right now I'm reading
"Origins" by Mark Henrikson on my Kindle
"Jarka Ruus" by Terry Brooks, Book 1 of his High Druid of Shannara series

I belong to GoodReads.com and have a long list of books-to-read there. I'm working my way through it.

Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker by Jennifer Chiaverini - by living room chair now, too - it's a book club book so will get priority over Allegiant *sigh*
Edenbrooke - just got it from the library and will have to figure out where it will reside, probably purse and take priority over Carved in Bone ...

(Not really about cake)... More wisdom gleaned from a life well lived and lessons learned.

Too many book tee-pees in my house to list them all. Just Finished Divergent and in the middle of the series... at my daughter's insistence.

Good if you like dystopic fiction and want to catch it before the movie comes out.

Sorry it's been awhile - last semester about devoured me - I had NO time for myself or my family :(

I have 7 on my reading list right now and 2 more to be added soon as they are book club books. I have 2 audiobooks going - 1 in the car, 1 in the house (book club books are in the house, while leisure reading in the car). Several are for school, so they get priority during the day. Leisure books get read depending on where I am - one in my purse for when I'm sitting in dr offices, etc, one by living room chair, one by bed.

Black by Ted Dekker - in car
The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion by Fannie Flagg - audio in house
Russia and the Soviet Union - school text book that we actually have to read
Fathers and Sons by Ivan Turgenev - school reading assignment
Carved in Bone by Jefferson Bass - in purse
Allegiant by Veronica Roth - by living room chair
Experiences in Divine Liturgy by Protopresbyter Stephanos K - by bed

Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker by Jennifer Chiaverini - in transit, for book club in a week and a half
Edenbrooke ... this month's book choice! just requested, it was on the shelf at another library so I will have it Fri or Sat

I just finished Deborah Smith's Charming Grace. (not the best)

Currently reading JoAnna Carl's The Chocolate Moose Motive. I love that her books take place in a fictional western Michigan town. I have relatives that live in the area she references.

I have James Patterson's Merry Christmas Alex Cross and Diane Mott Davidson's Fatally Flaky on tap. (I'm behind on both series).

I can't wait for the third book in Ken Follett's Fall of Giants series.

These include a Minnesota author, a how-to, a biography (I read I Am Ozzy which was interesting), mystery, sci-fi, romance, book of poetry, etc.

I am currently reading two books - Postcards From the Edge by Carrie Fisher, and Reign of Error by Diane Ravitch.

I'm getting ready to start This Dark Road to Mercy by Wiley Cash. I won it from Goodreads! The first thing I've ever won aside from a bicycle helmet when I was 8! lol

I really liked the book, Water for Elephants.

I'm now reading selected poems of T.S. Eliot. The Waste Land and The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock (remember from high school? lol). They are really beautiful, I don't think I appreciated them back then.

DOCTOR SLEEP, by Stephen King. It's the prequel to THE SHINING. Am looking forward to my next book, which is a detective story by J.K. Rowling published under another name.
